First trimester - counting down to week 12

Currently 8 weeks - by my counting but was ill before this so not entirely sure of when I had my last period. Hospital has set up my first appointment on the 6th April and in the meantime I have been reading as much as I can about pregancy. At the moment have all the usual preganancy symptoms but from the internet research I have done I have a 50:50 chance of miscarriage and that doesn't factor my age as I am over 35. Anyone else just counting down the weeks to the end of the first trimester?

Hello everyone

Nausea has well and truly kicked in now. Gosh I feel so rough. I can't concentrate on anything at work apart from riding these waves of sickness. My boss is already fed up of me and I am only 6 weeks!

On the plus side, I've finally got my booking in appointment now for exactly 8 weeks so only a fortnight to wait. I would be more excited, but I just want to put my head on the desk and sleep for a 100 years or until the darn nausea has gone

How on earth will I cope with actual vomiting?!

Errrggghhhhhhh

TheFantasticFixit · 05/04/2011 11:41

Oh fingers crossed for you Staceroo! Smile

gettingbigger123 · 05/04/2011 12:24

Hello

I am 7+2, with my first, but have had two MC's (at 4+3 and 5 weeks) fairly recently.

I have very few symptoms, I am shattered most of the time, I am very bloated - I look about 20 weeks, and my bloat is quite hard at the bottom, and starts right under my ribs and extends right down. For someone who normally has a reasonably flat tummy it is fairly obvious I am pregnant as the 'fat' is just on my tummy and pregnant shaped. But no MS, boobs are not that sore (I can still sleep on my side), but they have grown a bit.

Am on knicker watch all the time, on the whole I have been fine, though had some light brown spotting yesterday followed by some period pain style cramps last night, so booked to see the emergency GP today (phoned the EPU, but I have to be referred from my surgery first), feel a bit of a fraud as not really spotting now, but with my track record, I am totally paranoid, would love a reassurance scan, but who knows if I will be allowed one.

At my surgery you have to see the GP who refers you to the MW, so I am booked in there next monday anyway (may be able to cancel this appointment after today?), no idea what happens after that yet.

Generally quite excited at the moment though!

WE'VE GOT A LITTLE BEAN!

Just come back from dating scan... we are officially... 8 weeks and 3 days! Though I think it's crazy they can tell!

We have a lovely little bean, sat just where he should be, heart pounding away, and little buds where his legs will grow!

So excited to see all is OK, but bummed we have to wait another 4 weeks to tell anyone! At least the mums know now though!

gettingbigger I know you've had problems in the past, i really wouldn't worry about the brown spotting. I had the same about a week or two ago, and it just lasted a couple of days. From threads on jere, I could see that brown is OK, as it's old blood. I've had no more since last weekend, and still very much PG!

I'm a happy little bunny now I've some pictures to stare at!

gettingbigger123 · 05/04/2011 18:53

Staceroo, Congratulations on the scan! Glad everything is ok for you.

Thanks for the reasurance, the doctor said pretty much the same thing, but is sending me for an early scan on thursday just to make sure. From my own reading, I wasn't too worried about the spotting yesterday as it was pain free, but with the cramps I had later on overnight made me start to worry! Now I have got my rational / sensible head back on, I feel a bit a lot of a fraud, but then I suppose I can blame the uncharacteristic melodrama on the hormones Wink

Missyraines · 05/04/2011 23:05

Isn't it amazing Staceroo? I bet there were tears too. Was it done externally?

Well done and congrats. The first of many scans.......

m0m · 06/04/2011 15:11

Hi All

I started following this thread yesterday, and I?m so glad I found you guys, we all have so much in common right now and it feels great to be able to be able to relate with people of like minds.

I?m 9 weeks + 3 days but I actually don?t look it? I look like am 20wks to say the least, I?ve got quite a bump there, and people can already tell without me saying anything to them. It?s not my first pregnancy, so not sure why I have a bump this big.

The other thing is I can?t stop eating! Have to have some food every 3 hours; if not nausea and morning sickness will kick in.

Still haven?t told anyone in my workplace, wanted to wait until after the 12th wk, but this is proving to be very difficult, cos my new eating habit is raising eyebrows, I?m running out of loose clothes to wear, and when I?m tired?it really shows!

M0m - age 34, - pregnancy no 3 (1ds + 1dd) - bfp 03/02 - Due 10/11

cookie9 · 06/04/2011 16:52

Congrats Staceroo.

Had my booking appointment today. Midwife was very nice and have booked my scan for 3rd May which is ages away but couldn't do the week before. Blood pressure etc all ok although was a bit dizzy after they took the blood.
Looking forward to Monday and the private scan.

Hi Cookie I had my MW appointment today too. Got a mass of paper work/info including vouchers and all sorts. My 12 week scan is on 9th May 0830. That's a fab time as my MIL will be here from the Sun. She lives 200 miles away so we don't see her that often and wanted to tell her in person rather than over the phone.
I plan to sneak out and tell her by showing her the scans.

She wasn't to bothered by the cyst, saying it's not uncommon.

Hi and welcome to mOm too.

Oh BTW she said my due date was 21/11. How exciting.

UnicornFan · 07/04/2011 08:35

I'm feeling a little bit down today girls - even though should be smiling with this sunshine!
There was a little bit of blood this morning when I went to the toilet... Am hoping it doesn't mean anything so will need to keep an eye on it but still.... :-(
I am waiting for MW to contact me as only dropped the forms in at doctors yesterday, not sure what/if I need to do anything..

Vix1980 · 07/04/2011 09:08

Hiya, im so glad im not alone, i'm 5 + 4 (always wondered what that meant and now im finally in the club i get it!) i constantly worry about everything then google it and it seems im making it all up in my head as i have no morning sickness although 2 going on 13 tests tell me i definatly am, dont go to the hospital till the 5th may and i cannot wait for it to come round!

i have spent yesterday evening searching for maternity clothes on ebay, wereprobably all outbidding each other! xx

LB1982 · 07/04/2011 10:12

Hey Vix :)

I am the same as you. I'm only 4+2 but I google everything because I have no symptoms (apart from little twinges) and I've done 9 tests so far since Friday!! I bought 20 off ebay and plan to do one every 2 days. I'm obsessive!

Saw the doctor on Weds and got my midwife Monday :) I don't know why they booked me in so soon.

Unicorn Hope everything is ok

gettingbigger123 · 07/04/2011 15:24

I had my scan at the EPU this morning, and I am pleased to say that everything is fine and I was worrying about nothing. Thankfully the spotting has stopped and the cramping has reduced too, so I am feeling great. It feels a lot more real now I have seen my bean with a heartbeat! My bean is measuring correctly for my dates too (7+4) and so my EDD is 20th November!

Spoke to my doctors too, and I think I will be 11+2 before I can get to see the MW for the booking in appointment as she only works 1 day a week at our practice and is fully booked the next two weeks, and I am away the week after that. But I have been told that she can book the 12 week scan without seeing me, so that shouldn't be a problem.

Hope everything is going well for everyone else.

Staceroo · 07/04/2011 18:22

Wow, it's getting exciting now!

I had my proper booking in with midwife yesterday, she came to the house which was really nice, though had to leave suddenly as someone had gone into labour! eek!

Got my pack and bundle of vouchers, books and leaflets to read to! About to sign up to all these online clubs to get more vouchers & freebies too!

Thanks gettingbigger , missy and cookie! Scan was AMAZING! Did have a couple opf tears when we saw the heartbeat! But aparently it's too early for them to try and here it.

Forgot to say, we're due on 12th November! Christmas is going to be the best ever this year!

COngrats again everyone

UnicornFan · 08/04/2011 09:48

So did a POAS this morning and all good :-) Purchased the digital ones this time and told me was 5+ weeks which is good cos am 7.
Is it just me or was anyone else confusion with the blue line ones?! Funny thing was I watched the adverts on TV had thought to myself, really do you need to see it in words to tell you are pregnant, can't you understand the 'plus' sign with the blue lines.... but when it's you and one of the line is fainter than the other... :)

Am feeling happier today and looking forward to getting appointment with MW!

LyraBelaqua · 08/04/2011 20:15

I booked a private scan which turned out to be when I was only 6wks 5 days along but the consultant only did a tummy scan. That was enough to see baby clearly :) Got my proper scan next friday!! Praying baby is still alive and well. It better b otherwise I have a huge tummy for no reason other then too much choccie!!!

Glad you had a good outcome from your scan missy

HPSource · 09/04/2011 10:54

Thank you to every single lady who has posted on this thread! It's great to know that there are women out there going through (and doing) the exact same things as me (including knicker and boob checking, which have become unfortunate obsessions)
I'm new to this club, first pregnancy, 6 weeks yesterday :) it's going to be an amazing Christmas.
Went to a wedding last weekend and I couldn't eat anything at the wedding breakfast - Goats cheese starter followed by blue stilton risotto and the evening buffet was pate and a cheese board... oops
Can't wait for my scan and then to be able to tell THE WORLD... although I have 2 more weddings to attend before then :( Fingers crossed for something more pregnancy friendly on the menu.

Staceroo · 10/04/2011 20:12

HP you'll get very good at coming up with inventive reasons why you can't eat things! I've become very good at lying about my odd eating habits... that and giving up alcohol for lent of course! ;-)

In other news, wen't bra shopping yesterday at 9 weeks. Had to get measured properly, and I've gone from a 32B to a 32D! Shock

DH very pleased!

cookie9 · 11/04/2011 06:39

Got my private scan today so can't sleep now I am awake. Thankfully got a morning appointment as I would be useless if it was the afternoon!

lol with Staceroo - haven't been measured but bra filling up so lots more va va voom which OH is loving!

Have offically outgrown all my jeans and trousers so going to get a new pair of jeans today which hopefully I can wear after the baby is born.

If anyone else is getting a bit bigger but does want to tell the world yet that you are preganant dresses are the best way to go in my opinion. I have a nice 50s style summer dress from Urban Outfitters which has a band jst below the bust then billows oout so idea for bump hiding so going to get another one later. Also got a nice fluted dress with little cap lace sleeves from Zara - again a good bump concealer.

Scan went really well. Doc thinks I am 9+2. Great relief to hear heartbeat.

Staceroo · 11/04/2011 18:31

Oh Cookie Snap!

I'm 9+2 today too!!!! Makes us due 12-11-11 if my maths is right???

I was a bit too early to hear the HB at my scan (done at 8+4) but could see it pumping away!

Could you see legs or arms or anything? I'm just intrigued as to how much my bean will have grown in a week, as we could make out little tiny llimb buds only!

sunshinehugs · 11/04/2011 21:17

Hellooo ladies I am back! Last week was just terrible as I was cramping and then had the most terrible pain I have ever experienced in the middle of the night. Phoned the midwife and GP, was just waiting for the bleeding to start but it all settled down and I never did bleed, seems all ok now (fingers crossed) POAS this morning and still pregnant!

Unicornfan and gettingbigger123 glad everything was good for you too! Feeling ready to read all the posts again and get excited again. gettingbigger 123 - I will be 11+2 too when I get to see the midwife (9th May) which seems so far away!

Staceroo and cookie9 great about the scans! Can't wait for the boobs in week 9 then! I'm off to Tenerife next Tuesday so maybe I'll have a bit more to fill the bikini this year.

HPsource oh I did laugh about your wedding meal! Bless you, hope the others go well.

Still few symtoms, was wiped out by a 2 hour trip round some garden centers and had some serious bloat from a cajun chicken pizza but other than that feeling OK! Found it really difficult on this sunny weekend to contemplate a row of bank holidays with no beer garden drinking and all the excuses we have to make! Sometimes think it might be easier to tell our friends but DP really doesn't want to. Had to tell work last week as had to have a couple of days off at financial year end and got all emotional on the call to my boss! oops.

Scan booked 17th May! Forever!

cookie9 · 12/04/2011 06:33

Hello Staceroo my bump twin! Scan was pretty clear - normally I can't see anything until someone points it out to me. Heartbeat was so loud and fast -what a great sound. When is your next scan - mine's 3 May.

Sunshinehugs I hadn't realised how much people around me drink until I stopped! Hard to think of excuses - I have never been designated driver so much!!!

Probably a good thing your boss knows informally. It isn't formal until you write to them but at least if they know they can make things a little easier. My work knows but only my direct boss and the big boss and they have been really nice especially when the MS has been bad.

OP posts:
PoppysMom · 12/04/2011 07:26

Hi all, I think I am 7+6, but the dating scan a week ago put me 6 days behind, so maybe only 7 weeks.

I am counting down the days too, but seeing the heartbeat on the scan and a very healthy (apparently) corpus luteum has calmed me down a lot. Apparently the risk of mc decreases a lot when the heart starts beating

If you can afford it, I strongly suggest you get potentially a private scan.

My next scan is on 4th May

Missyraines · 12/04/2011 09:49

I've a funny story.

I had really bad pains yesterday just below my ribs in the centre. They came in waves and lasted about half an hour. I started getting really scared and thinking of unsavoury things when I realised they had gone. I then passed the biggest amount of wind ever! Lucky I was on my own! I had been eating lots of fruit in a bid to get vitamins in me. Must have been that. How embarrassing. Lucky I didn't tell anyone. So Shhhhh our secret!

I'm 8 weeks yesterday and counting. Not as tired as I was but still finicky when it comes to food. Just don't know what I fancy to eat.

How's every one else?
