OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
lia66 · 17/05/2011 21:56

*dachs8 hope pups are still holding their own and you feel ok (ish) today. Look after yourself. x

loops Glad you're enjoying your babymoon, Have you got some bf support? Bf "shouldn't" hurt, so you may want to have a closer look at your positioning. (I'm sure you know all that but I know I get a bit lazy with positioning sometimes.)

~viv sorry you've had a worrying time but glad all is well. :)

Waves to anyone else who kows me.

OrangeGloss · 17/05/2011 22:04

Pink I've bought 2nd hand travel system. I've bought a new mattress for the cotbed, but wouldn't have had the car seat unless we trusted them. Nothing wrong with 2nd hand! More money to spend on treats :) I'd tell them to mind their own business about your weight Angry could be water retention making your rings tight?
Yay 28 weeks for Owl and Nix you're getting nearer the top of the list!
Viv poor P being poked and prodded, I can only imagine how difficult that was to watch. Glad it's nothing serious
Grin at apples having to teach that a crib isn't a car!

Emoo good to see you here and glad it's starting to feel real. I hope you come back soon. Would a bus help in addition? It would be similar stages. I agree with Owl, 20 week scan was a turning point for me
Nix I thought you had to have a risk assessment as soon as work knows, I haven't though

Not much doing here, my mood is still directly linked to the last time I felt miniorange about

Dachs big squishes to you. I'm thinking of you xxxx

Magic8ballhastheanswers · 17/05/2011 22:48

Keeping my fingers crossed for Dachs hang in there xxxx

Congratulations to Loops!!! x

Moooooooooo nearly at the top! x

appleblossoms · 18/05/2011 08:43

Still praying for you and the pups Dachs, hope today brings you some good news.

Lovely to see you popping in from t'other side.

How are you doing moo?? Can't be much longer now!! So excited!

nix I agree with the others, it's meant to be done as soon as you let them know your preggers....I haven't had one done though, and I finish on friday Hmm but then as I work from home, I guess it's my fault for not doing it!

I'm a happy bunny today, bought a support band thing from mothercare yesterday and I had no pain all afternoon, so excited! First time in weeks!! and I've got my mw appointment this afternoon to officially book in to the midwife unit, so looks like it'll be gas and air and birthing pool for pain relief. Feel nervous, but also feel it's the right place to be.

In other news, DS has decided that instead of a car, the crib is a little cave to hide under. He's moved his soft toys and his books under there and sits reading to his toys quite happily...better than climbing in it I suppose! Grin

Hope everyone else is doing well..Am looking forward to being around a bit more from next week once maternity leave starts, so shall try and keep up with all your news a little better.

ooh loopy that doesn't sound much fun! Hope BFC helps and it all improves...

UrbanLolly · 18/05/2011 09:50

Ouch loopy I was like that for about 2 weeks with ds he too had a "super suck". Found the lansinoh breast cream helped with the cracked skin....on the plus side when we finally got ourselves sorted he was the most efficient feeder could drain an entire breast in 5 mins And it showed!!!!!
nix second the others they should have done your risk assessment as soon as they were aware of your pregnancy, having said that no one did mine till I was about 29 weeks!! They should also continue to risk assess throughout your time at work!!!! Lets see if I get another!
Hurrah apples for no pain can't quite believe where you and moo are on the list scary but so amazing!!! Ta for coffee I put in some leftover cream from lastnights dinner way too yummy.....

Everything went well at docs quick look inside which is always fab! head still down & now 2k just over 4 pounds so still an acceptable size but as my doc said "we know what happened the last time!!" he booked me in for the 19th July but I really hope i'll be holding a baby by then.
I've been a bit naughty today I have a lieu day and I didn't tell my mum....so dh will collect ds as usual just after 4pm!!!
Gonna treat myself to a bath then have a look round shops!! And hopefully pull out some baby bits....when is a good time to have a bag ready? I'm 32 weeks now?!?!

dachs How are you and the pups doing today...I really hope your temp is stable and your feet are up...... In my thoughts xxx

tiggersreturn · 18/05/2011 11:19

Loops - tip from my cousin with multiple children. When you stop feeding put some milk on the nipples and let it dry in the air. It toughens them up. Don't know if it's a bit late for you but try it. I had no pain at all while feeding ds and I think it was thanks to this.

tiggersreturn · 18/05/2011 11:19

for about 10 minutes! Yes I felt like a fool but it worked.,

DoubleDiffedDachs · 18/05/2011 11:24

Quick post to update you. Had scare earlier when felt what felt like a head coming. Turns out it was the membrane sac bulging and the cervix is still only 2 cm. They are therefore operating later to try to push the membranes back in and stitch the cervix as there is currently no sign of infection and both babies look fine. And even though the waters around pup1, Alexander Edmund, are leaking steadily there is still plenty of fluid there. And pup2, Felicia Sophia, looks absolutely fine and happy and there is no leak in her sac. Stilllikely to end badly but more hope than there was

owlbooty · 18/05/2011 11:37

Apple was the support band thingy for hip pain/SPD? I am starting to get it I think so if you've found something that works I would be v.interested in knowing about it :)

Loops - ouch. OUCH. That is all. Hope you find a solution that stops the wincing.

Dachs If I crossed any more things for you and the pups I would fall over in a heap - so pleased it wasn't what you thought it was earlier. I am so, so hoping Alexander behaves himself and stays put - will be thinking of you this afternoon, sending good vibes and hoping the op goes well. xx

Emoo · 18/05/2011 14:38

Oh Dachs what a horrible scare for you. I'm glad there's still hope, and good luck with the op later today. Lovely names as well.
I'm not sure if you'll find anecdotes helpful, but I'll give it a try: a friend of a friend found out at the 20 week scan that her waters had gone, and in retrospect recalled a possible leak at about 17 weeks. Things managed to reseal, the waters reformed, and she went to 32 weeks, when she was induced, with a happy ending.

Onions well done for adding yourself to the list!

Tigger, Loopy - I've heard that tip too... didn't work for me but maybe I didn't wait long enough for it to dry???

Urban - hope you are enjoying your day off... I'm not the right person to ask about bag-packing... I never quite managed to do it in time.. but if it's any consolation, it was not an issue, there's so many people asking what they can do to help, and they just love going shopping for you and feeling useful!

Apple your DS sounds very cute! Thanks for the croissants... yum yum.

Orange I'm a bit mystified as to what I would do with a bus? And Owl I agree, I think once the scan's done (as long as it's okay), it will start to feel real and I will be able to move onto Phase 3 of worrying (Will it be early?), which will be much better than Phase 1 (Does it exist?) and Phase 2 (Does it still exist and is it healthy?).

Nix - yes, they should do a risk assessment as soon as you notify them... but how much you want to push it depends on how risky and/or flexible your work environment is. I've not bothered with the formal side yet ( as I don't want to formally notify work until I have to), but have managed by telling the people I work with on a need-to-know basis, and offloading certain more risky tasks onto others. I figure that the person who is best placed to look after me is me, not some box-ticker who doesn't really give a toss.

It's pissing it down here. Just when I had an afternoon free to go and sit in the garden.

lia66 · 18/05/2011 14:43

dachs so pleased they are able to do something, every day those littlies hang in there is a day closer to viability. Hope you are taking it very easy and being looked after.

appleblossoms · 18/05/2011 15:47

Just got back from midwife... owl yep, tis for SPD. It worked wonders yesterday, but today am in lots of pain again... but miniapple is now 3/5 engaged, which mw said would make it more painful. Tis possible he wiggled down in the last 24 hours (he was 'free' 2 weeks ago) therefore causing more pain today, if that makes sense. For £12 I'd recommend trying it... it's the support band (not the bump band).

DS didn't engage until labour, and I thought 2nd babies were meant to engage later than first babies.....so I'm going to finish packing my bag tonight "just in case". 37 weeks on saturday, and want to make it till then at least so I can go to the midwife unit, having finally made a decision about it!

Welcome onions, and well done for the list updating - i've only been brave enough to do it a couple of times!

emoo he is very cute, if not a little insane at times....which DH blames on me, I used to play very imaginative games with my siblings (there are 5 of us) when I was little and have a crazy imagination! Grin Grin

dachs saw on the other thread they couldn't do the op...still praying for that miracle. x x x

owlbooty · 18/05/2011 16:04

Ooooh, Apple are you planning a queue jump? Grin That does rather sound like the little dude is on the move. If he's got 2/5 to go surely you'll make it to 37 though, Saturday is only 3 days away!

appleblossoms · 19/05/2011 08:40

Wow..tis quiet on here!

Happy DD for yesterday moo! Any little twinges or anything we can get excited about?

and crochet....anything else since your show last week? Are you planning a queue jump?

I have a feeling this one will stay put, just to be difficult... he is my child after all Grin

SoonToBeUndiffedDachs · 19/05/2011 09:08

Just checking in to see if there have been any arrivals! I'm keeping an eye on you guys at the top! :)

owlbooty · 19/05/2011 09:27

Dachs hope you got some sleep last night. Very careful gentle hug for you & the little 'uns. x

Grin

Emoo I'm on to stage 4 of worrying which is: what the feck will I do with him when he arrives and will he arrive healthy and well? I think this stage is probably better than the other 3 though.

mamapower · 19/05/2011 09:45

Dachs sorry not been around much to lend support! Please change your name back sweets, and try to remain hopeful and positive, you have to be strong for the pups... big hugs xxx

Daisybell1 · 19/05/2011 09:58

You're on dangerous territory trying THAT name change here Dachs. You know Owl lurks with a blue whale close to hand!

Massive hugs of the non-squishing variety.

Wombat33 · 19/05/2011 10:05

Hello all. Still lurking around here, sorry for not posting much. Loving all the chat about buying bits and pieces of kit. DH and I agreed we wouldn't buy anything until 24 weeks. I'm 23+5 today and starting to browse baby catelogues Smile (pls stay away jinx pixies). Wombatbean has been keeping me awake at night and kicking very uncomfortably on my cervix for a few days, but last night shifted round a bit and I got two 4-hour stints of unbroken sleep last night - bliss!

OrangeGloss · 19/05/2011 15:03

Selfish post but promise to catchup later:

Just had 25 week appointment, miniorange was so naughty the appointment overran as MW couldn't get a lock on HB, and was being kicked in the process :) said my bump is neat tho [proud emoticon]

She said I should be counting 10 separate kicks a day but I don't remember feeling that many Hmm
