hi ladies. I've been lurking around MN for a while after getting prgnant after a miscarriage in jan. What's forced me to post (here and in miscarriage threads) is that my DS has a bad stomach bug and i'm terrified i'm going to catch it and it will cause another miscarriage. anyone know anything about this, or can reassure me?
hope it's ok to post this on here - just a total nervous wreck after losing the last baby and everything seems a threat at the moment.

Oh ivy my eldest ds had hfm when he was 3, it was very sore, I sympathise. :(

Wine is good, just a small glass, mw recommended it. Have to say though, those little ones will come when they are ready,

owl I was in my pj's without fail at 7.30pm every night whilst heavily pg, was luverly, warm clary sage bath, ( I love the smell), soft, baggy jim jams.

eggy welcome to the thread, you've come to the right place. For what it's worth, I got what I believe was food posioning twice during my pg, at 24 and 28 (ish) wks. I kow it's scary but it's unlikely to affect your pg. If you are worried about it though, seek reassurance from mw. How far on are you?

CaribouMoo · 14/04/2011 21:32

Sorry all, haven't read back - I'm unfeasibly fucking tired this week. Promise to read back properly over next few days to catch up but checked back for news from Penguin and was delighted to hear about the safe arrival of Clodagh! Well done and huge congrats, great that you are both doing so well x

Feeble waves to all, catch up soon x

StickThemWithThePointyEnd · 15/04/2011 08:59

thanks everyone I did have that glass of wine, but unfortunately the evening was enhanced by baby shoving its head as far down my pelvis as it possibly could, almost literally tearing my pelvis in half... I don't think I've ever felt pain quite like it and shall be at the doctor's in about half an hour to get all the pain meds I can get. I can't walk, or sit or stand or move for that matter. fuck.

on a more positive note, DS seems to be over the worst and has started eating again. :)

eggy I had salmonella in november. baby is absolutely fine, but I felt crap for a good 2 months after. horrid.

moo it's almost the weekend, time for a good sleep marathon?

lia how are you doing, lovely?

I am ok thanks ivy glad your ds seems to be on the mend.

Let us know how you get on at docs, sounds painful. xx

StickThemWithThePointyEnd · 15/04/2011 11:49

docs prescribed me tramadol and said "just let the midwives know when you're going into labour that you've taken it, so they can prepare for breathing problems with the baby. good luck, bye!" uh, fat chance I'm going to take that.

Eeek Ivy, tramadol is serious stuff. I'd be scared of taking it when pg too. You poor poor thing, useless drugs was not what you needed! Did he tell you what else you could take that would be okay? Paracetamol? Codeine? [disclaimer: I'm not a doc or pharmacist]

owlbooty · 15/04/2011 14:34

Bloody useless doctor Ivy ! You might actually be better off talking to your local pharmacist; I've found generally they know their drugs far better than most doctors do.

nickstermum · 15/04/2011 16:17

WTF is tramadol?

I took cocodamol i think or was in codeine when in slow labour... it seemed to help, but it resulted in constipation! Not good for birthing :(

Have you tried a heated wheat pad Ivy that gave me a little relief, and nice warm baths.

How is it going anyway IVy? Are you bearing up ok?

Thought i would update the list, watch this space if i eff it up Grin

nicks Tramadol
I'm ok, bloody uncomfortable but have given up on expecting baby any time soon now. Stupid on/off contractions are at least getting stronger every day, though. Will ask midwife for a sweep next week.

wombat I agree, tramadol is bad enough when you're not pregnant. nevermind at the end of the third trimester....

owl and teacake the community head of midwives called him a lot worse than that today when she heard what he'd prescribed me!

Have some codeine now, not taking the pain away, but at least the edge off.. sigh.

Yikes Ivy, just reading that wiki link, makes your doc sound like a prize cock! Why would he prescribe that!?

See loops, told you i would eff it up Blush

northerngoldilocks · 15/04/2011 22:12

Congratulations penguins fab news

ivy hope you're not waiting too much longer for your new arrival, all sounds very painful and not really what you need at this stage.

Viv and Loopy - getting exciting now!

Hey all, stopping being a lurker and thought it was about time to post! Congrats to all the fab new mummies and lovely babies!

At the midwife this morning - sat? seems a bit new fangled to me who is expecting no3 (after a large gap, ds is 13 and dd 10...). Think am a little early to join the list as am about 11 weeks but like to book my seat in advance!

loops I don't think there is much short of cohosh and castor oil that I haven't tried.. the cervix cam reports I'm almost fully effaced, though, so I guess things are still progressing.

welcome emz now, where is that stapler?

how much clearer can I make my facebook status that I am sick of the "any news/signs/baby yet?" texts?? I've been trying to reply to the texts that include other questions, too, but avoiding giving out any information about the baby status (seriously, how do you answer "any signs yet" when you've been in slow labour for weeks??) but some people just don't get it and keep trying.

SPD feeling a bit better today, and with the codeine and an extra bunch of pillows I had an almost good night of sleep..

how is everyone today? exciting plans for the weekend?

ivy glad you managed to get some sleep

Hope you all don't mind but id like to ask a slightly off topic qn to all you sling wearers as know at least loopy and ivy are into slings. I have a Kari me which I now love but need another for when it's in the wash. Was going to buy another but think it might be a bit hot for N in the summer so was looking for advice from more experienced sling wearers! Hopefully might be helpful for others on here too.

Welcome to new peeps- hope you have uneventful times!

emzlou26 · 16/04/2011 16:03

Thanks Ivy, suggest stepping away from the stapler!

How is everyone? Having a good weekend? I initiated the OH to the joys of baby shopping today.... This is his 1st. Went quite well but had to take him to the cool baby toys as his reward for behaving in the boring shops! Wish it was that easy to pacify all children lol.

All a bit of a strange phenomenon, especially how suggested do's and don't's have changed... also filling in my own maternity notes? Ah well guess this will be a learning curve... may have to have a sneaky bowl of ice cream to help me through! Hmm
