Hi penguin good that you've got a diagnosis and are being looked after. You asked me about my elcs birth plan ages ago and I forgot to respond, sorry!

To be honest, having spoken to the consultant there is little room to personalise the experience in her theatre! The main options I've been given are choice of music playing (dh and I have had lots of fun thinking of inappropriate choices Grin ) and to have the baby lifted above the screen so we can see him, rather than having him whisked away and cleaned up before we see him. For everything else, screen lowered, skin to skin delivery, letting the cord pulse etc they had a good reason why they didn't do that, mainly to keep a sterile environment and to ensure baby is ok. So... I'll have baby lifted over the scree to see, he'll be checked over and then given to me wrapped in a towel as it's cold in the theatre, and then I'll have skin to skin time in recovery. They are also very happy for us to take pics in the theatre once he's born and they are sewing me up.

PenguinsMummy · 09/02/2011 14:58

Thanks Clareanna - nice that you get a couple of options at least!

I just really wanted to know about having DD3 lifted up to see her, skin to skin and trying to BF afterwards. DH cut the cord for DD1&2 but don't know if that will be an option this time.

See what they say when they book me in!

Best of luck for tomorrow - you must be soooo excited now Grin

VivClicquot · 09/02/2011 15:02

Nicks - sorry to hear you're having a worrying time of it. I didn't realise you were in Cheshire, so if things don't work out with your EPU, is there any way you can get to Manchester as I'm sure St Mary's EPU is an all-day walk in. (In fact, I know it is, as I had to rock up at 4.50pm (ten mins before closing) after I had bit of spotting at 8 weeks in this pregnancy.)

clareanna - am so excited for you. Have a lovely evening tonight - and I hope tomorrow goes as smoothly as it can for all four of you xxx

dorcas and alba - so lovely to hear you both sound so smitten, and I have to say that both of your birth stories sound wonderful. I was particularly pleased to read Dorcas' as I'm very much hoping for a water birth if possible, but was also listening away to my Natal Hypnotherapy MP3 (and reading the accompanying book) on holiday, so it's great to know that hypnobirthing can work :)

penguin - like clareanna says, it's good that you've got a diagnosis and that they're keeping an eye on you.

moo - Between you and I, I don't think we'll ever stop worrying about the movement! I'm sure your boy is doing just fine, and simply making the most of having enough room to move about in before it starts becoming a bit of a squeeze. :) Baby Clicq was very very quiet during our last couple of days on holiday, yet the minute I set foot in the house on Saturday, he or she was kicking away and hasn't really stopped since. Also, I had absolutely heartburn on holiday - despite eating nothing but really spicy Thai food! - yet it's returned with a venegance since I've been back.

Actually, since getting back home, I've suddenly started to feel quite unwieldy and uncomfortable - my belly button is BEYOND painful, and it also feels like I've been kicked in the, um, vajayjay. Blush Guess the aches and pains had to happen sooner rather than later, so there's nothing to do but suck it up, I suppose...

xxxxxx

nickstermum · 09/02/2011 16:27

xxx

Viv handy to know about St Marys. I was there with DS in SCBU so have very good things to say about them x

lia66 · 09/02/2011 16:44

Oh nick I'm so pleased for you.

Wobbling messes are very welcome on this thread, we have all been where you are now. It's a long journey.

Hoping the rest of your pg is boring and uneventful. :) x

dorcas111 · 09/02/2011 16:44

Fantastic news nickster, so happy for you. Don't apologise, how you were feeling is completely understandable and handholding you through the wobbling is exactly what this thread is for, no? Take things easy and look after yourself x

clareanna · 09/02/2011 16:52

wonderful news Nicks delighted you got some speedy reassurance. Here's hoping the next few weeks before your 16 week check and 20 week scan are completely uneventful x

AlbaDeTamble · 09/02/2011 17:03

Great news Nickster, what a relief. Thank goodness, you can sleep soundly tonight now Smile

Clare I wish you the best of luck for tomorrow lovely, it feels like your day has come round soooooooo quickly even with your extra weeks cooking! I booked my pre birth pampering today and she can't get to me before Friday so I will probably go into labour tonight!

Great news Nick :) I bet you feel relieved, rest up now wont you??? Dorcas ahhhhh so lovely to hear!

Viv wow at the heartburn situation! and I still worry about babies movements too, many a night have I poked and prodded my bump! and Moo Twin 2 seems to be awake more than asleep and I also have moments where I think OMG it's having a fit or something. The worry never stops though does it? Did DD eat enough at lunch today? Is she getting on ok at school? Is the fact I am stuck to my bed going to have a profound psychological effect on her???? etc etc etc!!!!!

Good luck with your scan tomorrow Penguin glad you are being looked after.

Had another night of mild but very regular contractions or tightenings for a few hours, and then started up again this morning although erratic before disapearing completely Confused Have had a few twinges this eve..........along side backache, that dull period feeling and possible leaking (or my PFs are shot after all) have consulted all literature and self diagnosis Grin points to pre-labour. Pretty sure they are not branstons........anyone know what happened to the haddock??????????????

lia66 · 09/02/2011 17:16

ooh magic sounds promising. I do hope you go into labour by yourself, I know induction is not always bad but so much nicer to let nature take its course.

Fingers crossed for it to continue this evening, nice warm bath will help with niggles and paracetamol.

Pop a pad on, if it's fluid it'll smell slightly sweet and may be slightly blood streaked/tinged pinky.

I have got my doula, (N *alba) coming over to meet dh tonight, I know her very well but he's nervous she's going to judge him on his useless lack of support in the past. :)

Gonnabe · 09/02/2011 17:35

Whoop whoop nicks what a rollercoaster we are on!! So so so pleased for you!! Xxx

Good luck tomorrow Clare

Waving at everyone ( and clenching!!!)

Gonnabe · 09/02/2011 17:43

Did they give you any explanation for the bleed nickster??

louisesh · 09/02/2011 17:50

Congrats Dorcas XXXXX

Sad about Amanda Holden but at least our situation will be talked about now , hopefully, more out in the open.

lucysnowe · 09/02/2011 19:11

Hi nickster so pleased! You can chill now Smile

nickstermum · 09/02/2011 19:56

clare its fab that you get to choose music and actually have a say in things :) good to know. Enjoy your last night as a threesome and i look forward to hearing about baby borthers safe arrivalxxx

magic sounds good, sounds good! Sounds like they're ready to come out,..are you ready for them?! I bet DD is very excited and cant wait :)

viv sorry to hear you are getting aches and pains. Never heard of the belly button thing, mind you my pregnancies have all blurred into distant memories. Wishing i had kept a journal. Best send DH out to the local thai restaurant to get you some spicy nosh Grin

Moo good you are getting movement, im sure him being active is nothing to worry about. Interested in Lias evening prim oil, havent heard that one before. I took rasp leaf tabs during my last pg and they did no good whatsoever, and yet other people swear by them.

penguins what is polyhydramnios? If you dont mind me asking?

Hi to louise hope you are doing ok, I agree both Amanda Holdens and Lily Allens still births/late (devastating though they are) will help loss become a less taboo subject.

Thankyou again everyone for today, feeling happy tonight and off to bed in a min. Seeing my MW tomorrow aft and then back for a scan on friday. They will look at the amniotic fluid and check everything is ok inside - and i thought i would ask the mw to check my cervix when i see her. Tummy is still very tender but i am told that at the beginning of the second trimester you get lots of growing pains, so i hope its just that. Feet are up and no stressy work til monday Grin

Cuddles to all the new babies x
Hugs to all the mummies to be x
Waves to my fellow diffed peeps xxxx

CaribouMoo · 09/02/2011 19:59

Thank God for that Nicks, so relieved you got an appointment and that all is well. Phew!

8s could this be it? How exciting!!

Thanks for your replies about active babies. This wee one is STILL on the go. I think there's only been about an hour all day I haven't felt him and there have been some whoppers! He'll probably spend all day tomorrow resting and I'll panic at the other end of the spectrum. You are so right viv, it won't evenr stop.

louisesh · 09/02/2011 21:09

Thanks Nicks XXX

Mamapower · 09/02/2011 22:33

Just a quickie...Clare, good luck for tomorrow Smile

Hope everyone else is well (and nix is tucked up in bed having a lovely snooze) Smile

Gi1da · 10/02/2011 00:31

Wishing a lovely birth day to Clarea tomorrow today!

Sounds like it may be time to hang out that double bubble bunting for Magic. Still in total awe of you for doublediffedness. Best of luck!!

Dorcas sorry think I missed posting congratulations to you, have been a big ditsy of late to say the least. A big woot woot for you and your little girl, hope you are settling in well.

Moof totally sympathise with the no movement oh no too much movement worries. It really never ends. I still poke DS in the night if he isn't snoring.

A huge wave to everyone, Viv, Lia, Muser gosh you are flying up that list! Hope you are all doing well xx

clareanna · 10/02/2011 06:53

eeeek! thanks for all your good wishes!
managed to sleep well last night - am currently enjoying my last cup of tea - the only thing I'm allowed to eat/drink until the operation...

Can't believe I'm officially top of the list today, it's very exciting!!!

Moof babies are at their strongest kickwise towards end of 2nd trimester start of third - they've got the most room to move around and stretch out their legs and arms apparently, which is why it can feel like they are going bonkers.

Magic hope you're not too far behind me... and good luck to lotta and ba8y too.

Lovely to feel like I've got a virtual cheering squad behind me today holding my hand - thank you lovely ladies

nickstermum · 10/02/2011 07:41

Go Clare x

clareanna · 10/02/2011 08:14

Should be going down at 9am as long as there are no emergencies...

SameOldJollster · 10/02/2011 08:22
PenguinsMummy · 10/02/2011 08:32

Nickster Really glad that all is well. Massive relief for you. Polyhydramnios is just the medical term for having too much fluid. Today they will just scan me and measure how much is there - check cord and placenta in right place and baby's organs look normal as sometimes it can be due to them not swallowing properly or weeing too much!

Magic it sounds like things might be moving for you and the twins!!!V exciting!! I'm another one who is in complete awe of you for cooking two at the same time!! Grin

Looking forward to news from Clareanna
