Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
clareanna · 13/01/2011 21:42

Evening all. lotta good to hear from you but sorry you're having a worrying time. At least you're being checked over and will be getting any help/ treatment you need. I hope it all works out of you.

I am a bit Sad today. One year ago tomorrow I had my erpc and I have to go back to the hospital tomorrow for my 36wk growth scan and consultants appt. Had mw appt today and heard hb etc so am ok about baby. I think the anticipation of the anniversary is worse than the day itself. I'm delighted I'm pg again and so excited about meeting this baby, but there are just some days you feel sad aren't there? I mentioned the significance of the date to dh who just looked a by blank and then asked whether I needed him to come with me tomorrow - feel the sadness will be redirected as Angry !!!!

Lotta123 · 13/01/2011 22:33

Nickstermum - your first post really reassured me. I didn't find it insensitive at all! Sorry you're having a yucky week at work.

Thanks Clareanna.

The anniversary is a tough one. I hate going near the EPU if it's any consolation. Will be thinking of you.

littlemiss72 · 14/01/2011 08:08

Morning all, big congrats to Gi1da lovely name! I hope your recovering well and enjoying your new little man in your life. x Best of luck to WYG thinking of you!

Clarenna I feel for you, my erpc is around the time of my 20wk scan - early Feb. It's certainly a sad time and I'm sure you could do with the support of your DH. ((hugs))

Hope all turns out well Lotta I'm sure it will Wink x

Me: busy girl, work, work, work. Big event coming up next week. Scripts to write & 2,500 guests to manage on the night. Wish I could crawl into a little hole and sleep the whole thing off! Just counting the days until my 20wk scan to see little Dolly again. The dreams continue.. Confused

At least it's FRIDAY! Grin love to all x

dorcas111 · 14/01/2011 10:49

Hi everyone, hope your Fridays are going well. Just checking in to see if there is any news from WYG and the others at the top of the list.
Clareanna I'm thinking of you today- I totally understand what you mean about being both happy excited about the baby as well as a bit sad. I think that for all of us some degree of sadness is a part of our pregnancy, because of what has happened on the way to getting here- that doesn't make us less happy or in love with the babies we are having. As you say though, the anticipation of these anniversaries is often the worst thing, so I hope your day goes ok and you have lots of support.
Lotta I hope everything goes ok, you never know, the tests might not indicate OC, but I'm sure if it does you will be taken good care of.
Littlemiss that sounds exhausting! Hope you can get some rest over the weekend.
Nickstermum - I was just thinking this morning that I might get the grout pen out! I just know that I am going to look back on these weeks and wish I had spent them making the most of having time to do stuff I won't get to do for some time- reading, going to the cinema, that kind of thing. But all I can think about is the baby! I can't concentrate on a book for longer than ten minutes. Almost all of my NCT course have had their babies in the last few weeks and I'm Envy. Someone give me a slap with a wet hake. (Trying to follow Hugh's example and be more adventurous in my fish choices).
Listened to my natal hypnotherapy cd yesterday for the first time and fell asleep- do you think that matters? I seem to remember someone else on here doing that, just wondering how important it is to listen to the words. Had a nice nap though!

VivClicquot · 14/01/2011 12:23

Ooh dorcas - am glad you're on. Was going to do the list but wanted to check your dates were right, as the number of w/cs pregnant didn't seem to correspond with your EDD.

Wink

Hi to everyone else, especially to clareanna - hope you're doing okay, lovely xxx

toomuchteaching · 14/01/2011 12:43

Hello all...

Huge congratulations Gi1da, sounds like a bit of a tough one, but your little man is here now and I hope you're enjoying every moment with him. Love the name.

Good luck WYG, don't worry I won't take your queue jumping personally!

As for me... stretch and sweep yesterday, all looking reasonable (Bishop's score of 7 - wanna share yours and make me feel better?), led to lots of tightenings yesterday afternoon, but then nothing again now.

This is so frustrating. I think if I had been set on delivery suite from the start I wouldn't mind being induced so much, but it's the fact that it will rule out the MLU that really bothers me. No pool, no nice quiet rooms etc. etc. Come on miniTMT!! I've probably got til Tuesday afternoon to get this show on the road.

Anyway, please keep your fingers crossed for me.

Thinking of you clareanna and Lotta hope you get good news and it's not OC.

Exhausted 41 week waves to everyone else.

dorcas111 · 14/01/2011 15:18

Sorry Viv, I was on and then I disappeared. Well spotted on the list- I'm due on the 28th January, not the 8th. For a moment there before I checked it I thought maybe I have got my calculations wrong and I am actually 40 weeks and due to give birth imminently- Blush. Ah well, back to the knitting and dvd box sets.
TMT I'm keeping my fx for you, there's still plenty of time between now and next Tuesday.
Crikey, I am getting scarily close to being at the top of the list!

clareanna · 14/01/2011 15:39

Hi all thanks for your support it means a lot! Well, a 3 hour wait put paid to sad thoughts as boredom overtook them! Dh came with me and it was lovely to see baby brother again. Growth scan reckons he weighs 7lbs already [shocked] with 4 weeks to go til term! Saw the consultant and discussed c-section options and i've chosen to be put back a week til 10th feb, instead of 3rd feb.

10th is only 2 days before my due date, but I feel far happier letting him cook for as long as possible... remind me of this when I'm complaining bitterly in that last week!!!
All a bit odd- I now have an extra week to play with!!

Viv if you're doing the list pls could you change my ADD?! Ta muchly Grin

lotta how did you get on?
toomt really hope things get going soon.. Running up and down stairs looking after my mum got me going!

Magic8ballhastheanswers · 14/01/2011 15:45

TMT keeping fingers crossed & as Dorcas said you have plenty of time between now & Tues - have you a birthing ball for bouncing? Might dig mind out actually as they are quite good for resting your cankles on! And Dorcas I know totally wheat you mean about concentration. I have NONE.

Big hug for Clareanna anniversaries are tough especially when appointments clash with your dates and I agree that some days you just feel sad about it. Hope you're getting through the day ok xxxxxxx

Lotta try not to worry I was tested for OC (was negative) around 27 weeks too as I was so itchy constantly and all over. They gave me piriton which so far I have managed to avoid taking and have found that drinking lots of water, taking more showers and aqueous cream have helped (also taking an iron supp as my haemogoblin was low). Are your hands and feet itchy? My friend had OC in both her pgs and was just induced a little earlier, so the fact you are 36 weeks is good.

Am craving the smell of antibac alcohol gel and having mucho branston pickles today. Had a bloody lovely nap this arvo which was rudely interrupted by the school run! Grin

TooMuch I have only one thing to say to you...birthing ball!!! Spend all day on it, bounce, wiggle, go round in circles with your hips, just stay on it all day. It will make a difference. You need your baby to be in the optimum position for labour so everything that you do now will make your labour potentially shorter and less painful. Besides, until s/he is in the right spot s/he can't come out! Chin up, nearly there and you've got a few days until the mlu is completely out of the window. I have been looking for your updates and am thinking of you...SB x

OP posts:
toomuchteaching · 14/01/2011 17:04

Thanks SamB, magic16, clare and dorcas... appreciate your thoughts! And your obsessive list tidying Viv.

SamB I meant to say but completely forgot... Shock at your interview, what a day! I hope you've got plenty of time to prepare, that's no small list they're asking you to do! Thanks for advice, much appreciated!

Clare glad today was ok, lovely to see your little one, and exciting that you've got an extra week. I think. I'd give my extra weeks back! But good to let cook til due date or thereabouts.

Have been for a really long walk today, and now bouncing on the ball. Fingers crossed... induction booked for 3pm Tuesday afternoon (for gel) and then properly kick things off Wednesday morning. So 4 days... a lot can happen in 4 days right!?

Lotta123 · 14/01/2011 17:19

Thanks all. Really appreciate your support.

magic8 Palms and heel of one foot are itchy. Going to have a nice long bath in a minute. And will make sure I drink lots.

Have bought some newborn clothes incase they want to induce me. Just need a cot now.

Roll on Tuesday when I get the first set of test results. Bump has been wriggling today so that's a good sign.

Can't believe I'm fifth from the top! Better get out my hypnobirthing CD.

Clareanna glad today went as well as it could. Three hour wait!!!

Lotta123 · 14/01/2011 17:21

Toomuch have my fingers crossed for you.

SamanthaB123 · 14/01/2011 17:52

TooMuch Four days before Ruby was born my cervix was 'firmly' closed and unfavourable. Bear in mind too that I didn't have a show and my waters didn't break until I was 8cm dilated. The only thing I had was contractions! It might be a little taboo, but why don't you have a glass of wine and chill out this evening? You dh can massage you (as practice for labour) and you could wallow in the bath for a bit. You might find really being calm and relaxed works for you...

zayja · 14/01/2011 20:19

Checking back in after a long bit of babymoon. Tell you what - it ain't easy this postpartum business. With the physical healing, emotions running high, exhaustion, trials with feeding, etc. Don't get me wrong, being a mum is a wonderful feeling - but what a lot of work. Much respect now for other mothers!

Congrats to malteser, sparkly - Alex is adorable, bunny, GLB, alba, and g1lda. I know what you mean about being in an alternate universe at the hospital g1lda, I felt like I was in another country - like a bubble. It was a bit hard to leave and face reality. Lots of new bundles, hope all is wonderful at home with babes.

toomuch - I has a large spicy meal the day before labor started, then took a relaxing bath that night. Next morning woke up, had sex and went for a long walk and that did it. Hope it happens for you soon.

louise, sorry to hear about your cp, what shit! Sincerely hoping you're pg again straight away next cycle.

louisesh · 14/01/2011 21:31

Thanks Zayja Me too!!! We re trying VERY hard!!!! Please.please.please let it be this month!!! Hope you are ok? XX

Muser · 14/01/2011 22:22

We're all rooting for you louise. You deserve a bit of good news.

WestYorkshireGirl · 15/01/2011 00:37

I thought I would let you you know that Hester Rose was born on 14th January at 12:37 am weighing 6 lbs, 4 oz. She was born at home in the birthing pool in the kitchen. Struggling with latching on at present - hope she gets it soon. Sorry for queue jumping! and good luck to RHH and TMT

NewImprovedJollster · 15/01/2011 07:25

Aww WYG - sounds like an idyllic birth. Congrats, lovely name. Good luck with BF, I had a really tough time with DS, and had to mixed feed in the end, but did carry on BF til he was ten months. Don't be afraid to ask for all the help you need. Enjoy Hester.

Muser · 15/01/2011 09:53

Congratulations WYG! Lovely name, welcome Hester.

AlbaDeTamble · 15/01/2011 10:03

Congratulations WYG, and a fantastic way to give birth. We're doing well on our thread homebirth stats! DH also says this was by far the best of all 5 of his children's births, he's telling anyone who'll listen how fantastic homebirth is and how lucky we were to have one (in no small part thanks to Lia's wonderful support too). I'm going to be endorsing natal hypnotherapy, homebirth, doulas, yoga and birthpools to anyone who'll listen for some time to come I'm sure, all things I didn't do first time round and which made such a difference.

Hang in there on the feeding, my gorgeous little boy had no interest for nearly 24hrs, then suddenly woke up, got hungry and got on with it.

Toomt and RHG I hope your little ones arrive soon... All the tips everyone's been giving I used up till Saturday night. On Sunday I started to resign myself to induction. Didn't bother with doing any of the right things that evening, was focussed on midwife apt the next day and getting induction date by the end of the week.. And woke at 3.30am with it all starting. Strange the way these things work...

And for all my waxing lyrical about this birth, induction doesn't have to be so bad, with DS1 I was induced (2 wks over and dangerously low fluid levels, so I was suddenly a high risk case) and the first pessary was all it took and no cascade of intervention. The monitoring was a pain but I could still move around a little, with DH insisting for me that I could deliver on hands and knees not on my back. It was all much better than I'd feared. I hope that helps lessen your concerns (actually I hope you're in labour already and my waffling is irrelevant by now Smile)

clareanna · 15/01/2011 11:29

Congratulations WYG wonderful news - welcome to the world baby Hester - lovely name! Good luck with the bfing- it takes time and I hope isn't too painful at the moment!

louisesh · 15/01/2011 11:48

Thanks very much Muser XXX

Congrats WYG .X
