Wills, so pleased the baby is the right way up. I don't know much about pre-eclampsia but understood it is always a risk if you had it in your first pregnancy. Very much hoping Mears or Leese is around to enlighten you professionally. Let us know how you are doing, and let's all send the vibe equivalent of raspberry leaf tea in the direction of the Peak District this weekend!

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
Beccaroll · 20/08/2003 11:17

Pie - not sure if misunderstood your message but thankfully I havent suffered any miscarriages! Sorry if you werent referring to me.

pie · 20/08/2003 11:21

Sorry Beccaroll, I assumed you had due to the nature of this thread

Marina, if you still read this can I ask you a question?

I remember you saying that if you had gone to term Isabelle would have been born when Tom was due. As I'm thinking of having a c/s it would bring me to the time when the baby I lost would have been due, and to be honest I can't stop crying, feel like I've been dragged right back into the past. My mum keeps telling me that this baby will help me to 'get over it' but as the due date looms that is becoming harder to concieve, esp as the due dates are almost the same.

Do you think that having a different date, I know it was only by a few weeks, 'helped' at all? Dunno what I'm really asking actually...I hope you don't mind me asking.

Beccaroll · 20/08/2003 11:29

Oh!! I feel really silly now - didnt fully understand the title of the thread - I really am sorry if I have offended

Gosh now I feel awful!!! Like I said I just assumed, sorry again Becca xxxx

Beccaroll · 20/08/2003 11:35

LOL Just blame my preggo brain!!

Ghosty · 20/08/2003 11:35

Oooh Katherine ... sounds like something could be happening! yippppeeeeee! If you have your home birth I expect you to beat the posting on mumsnet record ... I think it is two hours after birth!
I am well thanks quackers and pie ... although still feeling sicky - but thankfully it seems to be not so bad as it has been. I had a bit of pain around my nether regions today as I was shopping which I recognised as SPD (had that when I was pg with DS ... though not badly) ... and thought of you Pie (in a kind of 'Poor Pie ... hope that doesn't happen to me' type way) ... How are you diddling???
Had a great day today ... had to climb up a 20 foot climbing frame (one of those indoor play land ones) to rescue DS from the top. He was freaking out because he had crawled in some POO ... I kid you not, some child had done a huge poo in the entrance of the slide ........
Poor DS was traumatised (as was I) and the culprit's grandmother was mortified! I was pretty disgusted by the slow speed of the staff at this place ... it took them 10 minutes to get their act together to start cleaning (there was poo everywhere ... even in the ball pool!) while I stood there like a bouncer telling parents to get their kids out and making toddlers cry by not letting them go in ....
What an afternoon!!! Yuk yuk yuk!!!
Any way ... coming up to 17 weeks now ... good job I don't have a bump yet ... would like to have seen me at 30 weeks trying to do that climb!!
Once Katherine has her baby it will be just Pie, me and Hillary ... hope we can keep this thread going ... I like it!!!

musica · 20/08/2003 11:36

Katherine, sounds like things might be starting to happen - fingers crossed!

pie · 20/08/2003 11:37

Ghosty, that is gross!!!!!! Like really yuck!!!

SPD still chipping away, feel like the Poster Girl for pelvic disorder

Katherine · 20/08/2003 11:45

Becca - race you.......
Pie - sorry didn't mean to dismiss you but you are not due just yet are you so I meant from the 4 of us who were all due together - and we thought I would be first. Huh!

Had great fun this morning as the show happened just as I was trying to collect my sample for the MW. She told me to have a bath to reduce contamination risk and there I was in clouds of lavender steam armed with my jug when suddenly this mucous appeared everywhere. At a risk of TMI it looked like a bath full of jellyfish! So I'm sure my sample will be contaminated but I did my bast. Still producing the jellyfish now! Last contraction was at 11.25 so still wide apart and irregular. Just waiting for my waters to break so I know things really are happening. DH keeps making jokes about this one being a 48 hour labour - remind me why I convinced him to stay at home?

Ghosty - I'm impressed you managed not to throw up in the ball pool too! Remember when DS did this a couple of years ago although he had pants on so it didn't go anywhere. Was mortified though! Makes you wonder about ball pools really!

Beccaroll · 20/08/2003 11:54

Katherine that all does sound really promising - I had a small show on Monday morning early hours but would describe less like jelly fish and more like small amounts of snotty pink jelly (sorry TMI) so maybe I have only lost a little bit.

I have just cleaned my kitchen floor for the fifth time this week in an attempt to get this baby into position (he has moved back to back).

Im taking Megan (DD) to a party at a ball pool place this afternoon I REALLY hope I come across anything like you did Ghosty!

Is it ok with everyone if I stick round and post on this thread? When I read the tile "mums2be moving on" I thought the moving on bit was moving on from pregnancy and onto new babies! LOL

Ghosty · 20/08/2003 11:57

I was close to throwing up Katherine ... believe you me! I was just more worried about DS getting it all over him and on his hands and stuff ... I am a bit funny about that sort of thing. And he was so upset ... he hates his own poo at the best of times (see other threads re. my DS and his poo phobia) so crawling in someone elses was just too much for him poor love!
Anyhoo ... lets not talk about that anymore ... let's all send Katherine loads of 'give birth vibes'!!!!

Ghosty · 20/08/2003 11:59

Do stick around Becca ... and post away ... nice to have you ....
We could have a running commentary from the two of you!

WideWebWitch · 20/08/2003 12:14

Eeeew at the poo!

Jemma7 · 20/08/2003 12:20

OMG Katherine - as someone who has never experienced any of this before it sounds absolutely petrifying!

Better start doing my re-search (Not as i'm pg yet, but do like to be organised)!

quackers · 20/08/2003 12:30

Hey Jems, it's the nest bit !!!!

quackers · 20/08/2003 12:31

Oops 'best'!

Katherine · 20/08/2003 13:50

Well MW appt went well. I asked her to check my cervix and she said I am slightly more dilated and gave me anotheer sweep to encourage things. However BP still 130/85 and still protein in urine (surprise surprise). She was OK about it and said I just need to get some decent contractions going to get the head onto the cervix then things will really pick up.

So we've just been for a walk along the lane but got back to a message from the Dr asking me to go in for a blood test to rule out pre-eclamsia. I know they are just trying to look after me but I feel if I go near the hospital now I will never get out of there so feeling pretty low again.

Just just feeding the kids then off we go......

Jemma7 · 20/08/2003 13:55

Oh Katherine - try to keep your chin up.
I can imagine how you must feel about this, knowing how much you want your home birth.

Is there anyway you could have the blood test at the doctors rather than going to the hospital?

Wills · 20/08/2003 14:12

Oh god katherine - find a trampoline quick!

myersthecat · 20/08/2003 14:16

Can I pop in here too! Been following but haven't had much to add. These shows sound gross but not as bad as the poo.
Don't think I've had one (certainly not noticed one), but as I had a sweep this morning and mw said that one end is open by 1cm. I figure it must have happened at some point!

Pie sorry to hear that things are getting you down. My bump was due the day after my mc happened (1 year on). It felt really strange, but I've tried to look at the positives of it. I did find it difficult on the first babies due date 3/3/03 (of all days one you cant forget). Maybe you could talk to one of the mc councellers about it. It may help. We all cope with things at different times and in different ways.
It could be your brain is allowing all the emotions to come through now as you are totally focussed on both of your babies. It's very difficult to get away from the subject when you have this huge lump in front of you advertising to the world.

My thoughts are with you....

Katherine · 20/08/2003 14:21

How come I'm getting more support from my 5yr old DS than from my DH. Didn't even make me a cup of tea this morning. I had to do all my usual morning chores, feed the kids, let the chickens out, feed the animals, get the kids dressed etc etc. No wonder my BP hasn't gone down. He's spent the whole morning asking if I've had another contraction yet.... think he just resents having to take a days holiday from work or at least thats how it feels. I've not had one cuddle from him or one word of reassurance. Now I'm in tears about going to the hospital DS is wrapping me up in his blanket and DH is totally dismissive. I mean I feel really uncomfortable, contractions, waters could go at any time.... the main reason for me wanting a home birth was to avoid travelling when in labour. I know its the local cottage hospital and not the main one but even so I just have a really bad feeling about going in. Oh why can't my waters just go now and have done with it. Its all so unfair. Hey... do I sound transitional or what? Will update later - if I go quiet then they are holding me hostage!

Jemma7 · 20/08/2003 14:33

Katherine, it may be that DH is just as anxious as you but shows it in different ways. I'm not trying to make excuses for him as i know when i am annoyed with DP and people make excuses for him, it is very frustrating!

I hope they don't keep you hostage and i am willing your waters to break...........................NOW!

x

Katherine · 20/08/2003 15:38

Well the good news is we made it there and back, although there was a point on the way there when I had two contractions 6 mins apart and I though oh oh! Just got to wait for the results now. Unless of course my waters go, in which case the MW has already said they wouldn't risk moving me unless it was essential as its an hour to the main hospital. So send me loads of soggy vibes please. Any suggestions for breaking those waters. Afraid we don't have a trampoline Wills - the kids just use the sofa. Maybe I should try bouncing on there eh!

Anyway Wills how are those stitches. I remember it was agony with DS. Never understood why they had a bidet on the maternity wing until then. Really recommend it. If you haven't got one then don't be ashamed to wee in the bath or with the shower head. Makes a huge difference. Lavnender in the bath water will also really help you heal. I didn't realise at the time but I was really bruised too and aparently arnica is good for that. DS was 6lb so very similar to your DD2!

Right off to do some bouncing........

quackers · 20/08/2003 15:49

Good luck katherine
SOGGY VIBES coming through - or was that soppy!!
You really sound on the verge of going into full labour. Apparantly I was 1/2cm for about a week and had really annoying contractions but eventually at the stage you;re at it all happened, especially when next doors cat made an appearance in my bedroom when i was gettting changed!!! Gosh did I jump - no trampoline required!!!!

princesspeahead · 20/08/2003 16:08

just popped in to check up on katherine to find everything in full action! best of luck - hope the bloods are fine or in any event they don't find out they aren't until you are safely delivered at home. sorry about your dp - but is it possible that the idea of birth scares the living daylights out of him? a friend of mine's dh was like this and he admitted afterwards that he could hardly look at her because he was petrified that she would die!!! not much bloody help to you, but perhaps a bit more understandable.

anyway best of luck, and I'll be looking out for your news.....
