lovely day here, been to park all morning with girls on their bikes and now they're out in the garden with DH whilst I sit in here and arseabout do an online shop

poor D has a horribly sore bottom and although its a lovely day its still baltic and I can't really let her run about in the nude. poppy hope DD1 feeling a wee bit better today and you're managing to benefit from the sunshine somehow [smile[

singapore hope all the travelling going ok, we've turned the sun on in anticipation of your arrival

miamla thanks for your support but he has wiped the floor with me today - who knew he was bright as well as bonnie

pertelote · 27/03/2010 16:35

Well we all knew he was clever Dizzy - he married you after all!

Hope all are well. We are a bit under the weather and therefore wasting a free weekend doing nothing useful - or active, which just backfires as it means DD is full of mischief. We told ourselves it was going to rain but it hasn't yet so just feel guilty...

TwilightSurfer · 27/03/2010 17:35

Sun's out here too. Not really warm but that hasn't stopped me from slipping into my bikini to work on my much needed color. DH walked by me a moment ago and said, "you're really white." FKR!

Hey gang, sorry to have been absent again but I never seem to find a minute atm. My dsis is here with dneice, she's looking after the boys tonight whilst dh and I go out on the piss

Hockey season finished today so I'm going to look for a local running club - need to do something to keep fit!

Have had a quick scan read, am of TS bikini!! It's still to brrrrr here for that.

oopsandbabycoconut · 27/03/2010 18:22

We have had a fab day at Bournemouth. It was a bit cloudly with the occasional shower first thing but as the afternoon progressed hte sun came out and we had a lovley time on the beach eating ice cream. DD had to be dragged from the very icey sea a number of times by DH. I watched them from the nice warm bench in the sun A couple of rides on the landtrain ended a perfect afternoon.

TS - Bikini not quite ready for that here.

GladioliBuckets · 27/03/2010 19:43

Looks like weather is doing weird stuff all over then.

CC Have a good night out.

Have been googling more steampunk and burlesque stuff and am now seeing DIY options everywhere - there's a bargain £10 white dress in Asda would look great with a corset over the top, ladies. But I am thinking bustle bloomers, heeled boots, corset and some kind of goggles/mini top hat/fascinator invention. New name ideas are Bambi Lambrusco or Contessa Lambretta or Professor Contessa.

TwilightSurfer · 27/03/2010 21:55

Chastity Meow

Cherry Pop
or

There! Buckets what about these names???

morning oops ..

please no one ask why i am here after my chat with dh earlier in the week ..

anyway.. we made it til 7.10am new time which i guess is something ..

any recommendations on what to give dd2 for a horrible barking cough??? she is getting so distressed with it..

also i think cece mentioned making an easter bonnet.. need to make one for dd1's nursery and am rubbish at craft so ca can someone please tell me how i do it??

oopsandbabycoconut · 28/03/2010 07:59

Loti - we are up at 6.35 new time so nothing really new but DD was also woken by horrid coughing so I have given her some useless Tixylix and a little neurfon as she was a little hot, I hoped she would go back to sleep but no such luck! I had hoped DH wanted to watch the grand prix this morning but no such luck!

No plans for today apart from napping.

Miamla · 28/03/2010 09:15

morning, did i mention yesterday that I did a deal with DP that i got up with DS yesterday if he did this morning? erm it would appear DP forgot about the clocks changing and had to get up and out early Really wish he'd told me last night because i didn't get home til 1.30am after doing my dress all day. sooooooo tired. hey ho. he's very apologetic and i'm sure i can milk something out of him for it
all i can say is thank goodness for cbeebies
i bought some new shoes yesterday I've decided that my lovely flats will be great for dancing in the evening but that a bit of a heel will be cool for the day (or as long as i can wear them for!) I'm marrying a tall man so why not
Oh and update on my dad.... he's 'escorting' me down the aisle but not 'giving me away' (He doesn't realise this last bit!) We had long discussion and the conclusion of me saying that 'i didn't think i was his to give away' meant that in his little head that i was doubting my parentage and that someone else was my biological father. He really can be ridiculous sometimes!!! but, it obviously meant alot to him so i've said he can do it. what i didn't realise was that mum had done a deal with him that if i let him, he'd leave his OH at home. this is woman who overlapped with mum for 5 yrs so can understand why mum doesn't want her there... win win in my book... i don't particularly like her much either!

ooooooh, and thanks to my hairy truckers buying my tiara for me.... i've got a few spare £ so i've booked a colour/restyle at hairdressers on monday!!! thank you again girls xxxxx

GladioliBuckets · 28/03/2010 09:47

Yay Miamla I was wondering how that went. What a tosspot. What time is the actual wedding by the way?

LOTI Hot Ribena and honey? For a bonnet, I did one once with a cardboard mount from a picture frame. Its rectangular hole sat nicely on DD's head so we glued paper ribbons to the underside loosely so they looked pretty over her hair and had wide crepe ribbons from the sides to tie under her chin. Proper bonnet stylee.

GreenGardenia · 28/03/2010 10:22

Oh Miamla I'm really pleased you've got that sorted out. Sounds as if everyone will be cool with the result, well managed! And very glad you got your tiara .

Re. Easter bonnet another crown base you can use is something like a Haagen-Dazs pot - channelling Jane Austen or someone here, worn well back on the head - covered in something or painted, with ribbons over ears, under chin to keep it on, and you can cut a piece of cardboard or something to use as a brim if you want but I'd imagine your dd won't care about brims and will be more interested in whether it's well decorated with feathers or flowers or whatever!

Miamla · 28/03/2010 11:00

of all days for DS to resist a nap. he's chosen today. i'm shattered but he's too busy screaming to sleep. i'm hiding downstairs at the moment and half expect a visit from my neighbour to find out what's going on

i knows he's ok. he's got a clean nappy, just had a drink and snack. he's been resisting for so long now, he's probably overtired. i just want some sleep and i'm finding it really hard to stay calm with him

sorry for whinge. just really wish DP hadn't messed up this morning re lie in, what time he had to leave etc. If I'd known I'd have gone to bed an awful lot earlier last night

oooh, its gone quiet....

buckets 2.30

right, i'm off back upstairs to try and sneak past his bedroom and into my bed

Miamla · 28/03/2010 11:03

here you go loti click here for your easter bonnet solution!

oopsandbabycoconut · 28/03/2010 11:33

Miamla - What a bummer on the sleep from. I hope DS is now asleep and you are napping too.

DD has been nagging this morning for a croissant (with perfect pronunciation ) I mentioned getting some in Waitrose yesterday and she has nagged for one since, good thing I bought a packet. She is sitting very quietly eating it like all her Christmasses have come at once.

cyteen · 28/03/2010 11:57

Morning all, I've been away having a life hence no posting from me. We are enjoying a long weekend visiting the grandparents: my folks looked after DS on Thursday night while DP and I went to see the Reverend Horton Heat play in Camden - absolutely fantastic night, awesome gig and very much fun to see some live music together. Felt dreadful all day Friday due to ill-advised Sambuca abuse at the gig so had a quiet one with DP's folks. Then went to London yesterday to see a friend and go round the aquarium, via Weybridge to see another couple of friends and their scrummy new baby girl (didn't get a cuddle though as she was sleeping but she is gorgeous!)

London was great but sooo mental with a very busy toddler...DS went out like a light last night, which was nice as we had a rather stressful journey home on the train with some complete fucking wanker shouting and swearing at DS Luckily it was only a brief moment and everyone else in the carriage was lovely, but still, not pleasant. I couldn't even say anything back as was just me and DS (DP stayed in London to see a film about black metal) - I so wanted to give this guy both barrels but didn't want to risk it, I mean anyone who yells abuse at a child is probably wrong in the head.

Other than that, everything is good DS currently snoring after a busy morning - he did well with the time change actually, slept till 6am actual time.

hotter good to know the funeral did as it was supposed to - hope your hangover has dissipated by now I still miss my granny so much that I can't bear to cross her address out of my address book, and she died in 2001.

Hello everyone else, I have read and enjoyed but there's way too much to recap!

dizzydixies · 28/03/2010 13:40

cyteen, I've still got my great aunts & gran's addressed in mine too and still got my mum's mobile number on my phone too

sunny again, if cold - waiting on tesco delivery to arrive then D going for nap and girls being plonked in front of film so I can relax/snooze/read my book before DH home

Miamla - hope T sleeping and you're managing to rest too

hi all else, no idea re cough but apparently having a mouthful of fizzy drink helps get out of the continuous coughing pattern - not sure you'd want to lace them up with fizz though - not really much help sorry!

CaptainCaveman · 28/03/2010 14:20

loti we made a fabbo easter bonnet, which is quite amazing considering my utter lack of creative skills! I cut a large circle out of an old choccie box, then cut the middle out of this and cut some tabs into the inner edge of the circle. Then I got a cereal box and cut it in half lengthways, and stuck this around the inner circle, taping the tabs to secure one to the other. Did the same with the top of the hat.
If that makes any kind of sense I will be amazed!

welcome back cyteen, well done you on achieving a life!

Girls I need help - I can't quite nail down the title/subject of my dissertation...I was going to look at whether its better and more cost effective to deliver an episode of care through an integrated health and social care team' but it's not floating my boat quite right. Things I do like:
performance measurement
performance management
finance
leadership
management styles

any clues???

christ, with all the dissertation/feminist/HR chat I'm beginning to worry that this thread is a touch too high brow for me - ah well, I suppose there always has to be an exception to the rule and I'll gladly take on that roll

will have a think Cece but I expect you'd be better with one of the others
