Here you go ladies.

Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
muddleddaizy · 15/04/2010 16:25

That was it - a friend of mine had a baby this week using only gas an air - weighing in at over 11 1/2lb!!

flippinegg · 15/04/2010 21:16

Evening! Are you all watching the Big Debate? I'm not sure I can be bothered, but feel I ought to.

Anyway, it's done. I've submitted my resignation letter and a bit I think. Hell, have a for good measure.

muddleddaizy · 15/04/2010 21:33

I'm here - not fussed at watching the debate, its only whose got the gift of the gab who'll win!

Flippin are you relieved now? How are you feeling about it all?

essenceofSES · 15/04/2010 21:40

flipp - well done on getting letter done. Seems a big step but in the right direction from what you've said.

saus - I spooo feel like that. Going back to work has given me some of my old identity back but I'm now also struggling with all the juggling and roles that I need to do.

muddled - wow! at your friend!!

Spangle - have been thinking of you.

Hello everyone else! Sorry not to NC further but falling asleep....

Zzzzzz!!

belgina · 15/04/2010 21:41

Grrrrrr, was just in the process of writing a longish post and the internet froze and it's now all gone. I am clearly not watching the big debate either.

Anyway I wanted to say to saus boo to your DH's holiday suggestion. Hurrah for the walk to the shops. And I understand about the you wanting to not be mummy for a bit. It's the exact reason why I ended up going to uni and becoming a mw. For me working part time has been my ideal solution, despite not really liking my work place at the moment, although TBH I am liking Day Assessment Unit where I'm placed at the moment.

flip Glad you feel that the councelling has been helpful and has helped you get some more help in your life. Hope the chicken pox will go soon. Hope your trip outdoors was good too.

headless I'm keeping my fingers and everything else crossed for you that this one may stick.

Hmmm, I must have forgotten a few more NCs. Got to go now and get ready for another day at work tomorrow, hurrah

pulapula · 15/04/2010 21:54

Hi flip- I'm watching it, but not that closely. But i think DC isn't coming across very well, not that i'm a fan anyway. I saw you had resigned on FB, but didn't want to "like" it as I knew you were kind of pushed into it.

muddled- also saw your FB status . DH and I joke about our little baby, patting my tummy and joking about what we'll call him/her. It really is quite large, and I am dreading someone asking if i'm pg when i'm just fat .

hopalong- your posts make me . Tell your DH that you want sun, sea and ? sleep? sangria? baby-making and that Holland isn't what you had in mind. We holidayed in Tuscany with our DD when she was 6mo and went skiing in France when she was 14mo - flying is relatively easy when you have 1 LO so you should make the most of it. We just haven't contemplated going abroad since, but I know lots of friends who have been to warmer climes with their DCs. But yes, we've opted for the east coast again this summer .

spangle- hope the funeral went as well as these things can go. I have been thinking of you and your DH today.

headless- good luck for the scan tomorrow, and fingers crossed for the next few weeks.

belgian- I have been meaning to say something for a while to offer support or advice about Cs sleep and your work situation, but i feel i don't have anything useful to say on either. I think you would be a wonderful community midwife, so definitely worth considering. I was also wondering whether you have a head of midwifery or something that you could ask for a review with? You may well find you are doing really well, it's just that you don't feel confident after your ML. I feel like I am not quite "with it" at work, but my boss is happy with my performance. On the sleep, the only thing I can advise is to be consistent- if you decide on a strategy with C's sleep, such as no co-sleeping, then your DH needs to stick to it , so fingers crossed he is helping, as sleep deprivation is horrible. My DH has been great with nights as he was resettling S when we decided on no more night feeds, and S had been sleeping very well until teething and conjunctivitis hit. DH has been whining about only sleeping in 2 hour blocks for 3 nights on the run as he has to resettle S (although this does only take 5-10 mins tops). I had to deal with S waking every 2-3 hours for months and months . I have even felt so bad after his 3 bad nights, I have said he should sleep in the spare room tonight, as when he's with me, I either don't hear the DCs, or do hear them but wait for him to get up first . Of course, I am secretly hoping that they won't wake and that i get a lovely sleep in our super king size bed without listening to his snoring . Sorry, that turned into a whinge about my DH.

belgina · 15/04/2010 22:40

pula My DH is definitely a problem with the sleep training. He's not very patient and so if C doesn't settle within a few minutes he'll just take her into bed. He did that last night because I wasn't home, which made me . C's just not a baby who you can go cold turkey with and so I'm doing a gradual reducing. At the moment we're at no coming into bed before 1 and no feeds before 3. It's the between 1 and 3 bit that's hard work. That's the time of night when she's kicking and head shaking for 2h almost non stop, driving me mad. DH is now away for a few nights, so hopefully I can do a bit more over the next few nights.

momino · 16/04/2010 09:44

morning all.
just quickly before DD's wake up (it's 730! I'm still in bed!).

I listened to the debate whilst i worked last night and tried to follow . everyone said N clegg, but i can't decide who i thought 'won'. I'm quite happy to not be allowed to vote in national elections!

and written much later...

pula, i agree with what you said about asking your boss. i think i/we can be too hard on ourselves and we expect so much. we may be disappointed in ourselves because of that but actually are doing a great job.

Belgina, hope you can get some good sleep training this weekend with DH away.

Flip, well done on the letter. hope it makes you feel a bit of pressure off you.

muddled, hope the boys are better today. at your friend's baby!

ladyH, good luck!
spangle, take good care.
sausage, holidays: we're going to Wales in a few weeks' time - should be great swimming there... !

ses, hope you got some zzzzz. I slept (badly) until 7am today.

going to try to do my work in between the DDs playing so I can have a night of relaxing and watching ashes to ashes with dh and a drink.
hope you're all well.

momino · 16/04/2010 13:06

ses, don't know what my point was about sleeping till 7...

HeadlessLadyH · 16/04/2010 18:51

OK. Very quick post as about to leave to go to the In Laws (boo)

So. Its only fucking twins isn't it?? Scuse language but am a little in shock. Don't know whether to laugh or cry. Obviously its still early days yet, but fuck fuck fuckity fuck, that was not what I expected.

SOrry for the me me me me post. Am a little all over the place TBH.

Hope everyone is ok. Sorry not to NC but not been able to do a catch up.

hopalongsausage · 16/04/2010 19:07

Oh headless of course it's early days but woooooooh! Gwan, laugh. Have a good time at the ILs....

(again)

hopalongsausage · 16/04/2010 19:08

(Bet spangle is now thinking....!!)

llareggub · 16/04/2010 19:08

Wow, Headless! I'm speechless...

llareggub · 16/04/2010 19:09

Actually, fuckity fuck is what I'd be thinking too.

But how utterly bloody lovely. x

essenceofSES · 16/04/2010 19:24

Headless
all at once!!!
Quite a bit to get your headless head round!
And once more...

belgina · 16/04/2010 20:05

Short one, just to say:

headless TWINS. Eek. I would also be thinking every swear word under the sun. I think you might deserve another something stronger to get over the shock and especially remember to ..... breathe and .....relaxxxxx

pulapula · 16/04/2010 20:21

Wow Headless- what a . 2 of 'em shockety . Fingers crossed for stickiness.

Try not to panic. A friend of mine has 2 boys aged 5 and 2, and then twin boys aged just a bit younger than S. I don't envy her , but she is very chilled about it all, although she was very happy when her au pair arrived a month or so ago .

momino · 16/04/2010 21:13

ladyH, I echo llare, how utterly bloody lovely! scary but lovely. take care, one day at a time.
actually, i'm a bit

flippinegg · 16/04/2010 21:48

Oh my goodness, Headless! I know everyone's done it already, but . What a lot to get your head round. Hope the next few weeks all go smoothly.

muddleddaizy · 16/04/2010 22:11

What a for you Headless. All the best, we obviously had too many fingers and toes crossed for you . Hope the next few weeks go well for you. What a weekend to be going to the in laws as well!

SpangleMaker · 16/04/2010 23:01

Headless

Congratulations though! Twins are so special. Hard work, I'm sure, but special (I'll be honest though and admit I hope I only have one in there). Hope everything goes well over the next few weeks (and beyond!).

Thanks for all your thoughts for MIL's funeral. It was, of course, an incredibly sad day, but the service was very well done, the church was packed, and it was a lovely sunny day, with daffodils in bloom all through the cemetery. DH, BIL & FIL were very brave - SIL & I burst into tears watching the three of them standing at the grave side.

Told my Dad & step-mum about my BFP at the post-funeral buffet thingy - told them before I broke the news not to make a fuss but they whooped with excitement. Made me feel a bit better to see how happy they are . DH still not quite so overjoyed though!

Better go and put H to bed - he's refused to go down in his cot and is asleep on the sofa

runningmonkey · 17/04/2010 08:34

Headless Wow! I hope you are reeling a little bit less this morning. Hope all goes well over the next few weeks x

spangle am glad that MIL's funeral was ok - well, you know they're never ok but hopefully ykwim. Glad your Dad and Step-mum 's reaction was good and I hope that your DH can start to get his head around it all soon especially with everything else you have all had to deal with these last few weeks.

Hi to everyone else, I hope you all have a lovely weekend. x

belgina · 17/04/2010 10:06

Headless I was thinking that maybe twins would make for extra pregnancy hormones making this pregnancy stick? It's just a theory, not fact, but maybe it's a good thing Just a little bit and , but good.

spangle Have you recovered yet from your fainting? I think that twins are rare enough for only 1 set to appear in 1 thread. I'm pretty sure you're safe

Well, another lovely lovely day here in Kent. I need to go and get some bits and pieces for dd1 (especially tights), so we need to go shopping. I'm thinking about going to Canterbury for it though, because the nearest towns all have indoor shopping centres and it would be a shame to spend today inside.

C's sleeping a lot better now, so that's a good thing. Now going to about 3 am before waking.

I've also got a blocked duct (I think) but it's in a really bad place to try and get rid of it (top of breast). I don't understand why it's appeared either, because it started on thursday, when I was hope and not getting overfull, like sometimes happens at work.

FiByTheIcySea · 17/04/2010 23:40

wow! read this page trying to catch up & OMFG headless twins bloody brilliant
and spangle OMFG again! congratulations!!! scuse the lingo i'm happily stunned to hear both your news
