grumpy, love Reginald Dhunter.

Grumpyoldcaaaaaaaa · 01/05/2010 09:50

Tsk momi staying up late

Well the 5 year olds were surprisingly well-behaved last night, asleep by 10ish I think and didn't wake me up until gone 7 this morning. DH heard them talking this morning about who they knew who'd died, DD2's friend apparently mentioned her mum and her rabbit in the same breath. It's heartbreaking. Morbid little souls.

So, weather is crap here, we're off to York for the weekend - with a possibility of looking at houses - we are thinking of moving back there , after I said I wouldn't make poor DD1 move school again. DH has moved his business to York though.

So momi I may become a nuisance in your life

pulapula · 01/05/2010 10:20

llare- not had a reply yet from Warwick person, but I really should let Belgina decide first if she is interested as I wouldn't have discovered these blinds if it wasn't for her. There are others appearing, and I've found a website that should have more stock in mid-May.

momino · 01/05/2010 12:30

grumpy about your dd's friend.

very about possibility of move to york !

just had a horrible email from a client that I'm trying hard not to take too personally. I did my best trying to organise something for her but it was her DH's poor communication that made the booking difficult.

anyway, I'm the scapegoat and it's really tough not to take it personally. am I tough enough for this job? perhaps not.

belgina · 01/05/2010 14:14

Gah, another early morning here after a late night too. C was awake at 5.45. I kept her in bed with me though, hoping that she would go back to sleep. She did, but only arouond 7.30, so I had a bit of a sleep between then and 8.30 when she woke again. The eldest 2 were awake by then, but they're big enough to entertain themselves for a while.

momi It's never nice to get horrible e-mails/letters/phone calls, especially if you feel you've given that persone your all. Not taking it personal is easier said than done. Hope you're OK

pula You can go for that Warwick based blind. I'll need more than one (the other 2 could do with a blind too) so I'll just hang on until they're in stock somewhere that has lots.

grumpy Have fun in York If you do end up moving there I hope it'll be the last move in a long time for you.

Talking about York. I had a dream about meeting all of you York based ladies recently. In my dream York had moved to round about where Tunbridge Wells is and I got to meet all of you. It that same dream Spangle was living in York, Kent too.

llareggub · 01/05/2010 14:51

Oh Momi poor you. It is horrible getting work related horrid emails. Well, tbh personal ones too but at least with personal ones you can say what you want to. My advice is to type the reply that you REALLY want to send, bash the keyboard a bit, then hit delete. You'll feel so much better, I promise!

essenceofSES · 01/05/2010 15:50

Llare - that sounds like a good way to deal with rubbish work emails!

Momi - give it a go
Looks like I might be visiting our mutual friend in York at the end of May. I'll FB you at some point to see whether we can arrange meeting up.

Belgina - I feel your pain. O woke up at 4.15am. I should be grateful that he at least slept through until then but he was wide awake at 4.15am. By 5am I did the same as you and took O into bed. He fell asleep about 5.30am but then I had to be up at 6.30am for work!

Grumpy - hope you find somewhere fantastic in York. It's such a lovely place!
Poor you having to listen to DD and her friend. Absolutely heartbreaking Probably healthy that they are talking about it like this though.

Thanks for the lovely comments about my new job. Will be great to get stuck into something new

Loobylou36 · 01/05/2010 16:44

hi ladies

It's been a long time since I've been on here so am struggling to catch up

We've finished BF here stopped about 4wks ago, a mixture of M not being that bothered anymore and it being easier to make sure she got milk using a bottle

Really really miss the closeness tho

specially at the moment when I feel so low.

M had a big BBq party last week for her birthday - we had about 35 adults and 8 children - luckily the weather was good and everyone seemed to enjoy themselves. M got way too many pressies mostly clothes but hardly any fit her cos she's still in 9 months stuff at the mo.

Had her weighed an measured last week 20lb 5oz and 78.5cm tall.

momino · 02/05/2010 10:24

Good morning all.

Looby, hope you're feeling better, less soon.

Ses, happy aboutyour job and really hope to see you in York as well (what a hotspot is York for MN meetings!).

belgina, about your dream coming to York. actually, I'd love to meet you down south...

thanks for the advice/support about that nasty email i received. llare, I did as you said and wrote a heartfelt email... then deleted it. I've calmed down by now but still can't believe she wrote such accusatory, judgmental, horrid things without reason and knowledge of the situation.

anyway, today's H birthday! we had a cake already yesterday which was so nice and fudgey that I made another this morning. Happy birthday to the others today: Sofiah, Rufus, Gethin!

we're off to softplay later and home for more cake. that's all we'll be eating today: chocolate cake with pink and cocoa icing (could do worse).

thank you for all the FB mssg for H, so kind of you. Can you tellI really get into the birthday celebration ? i love birthdays.

Hope you're all having a good weekend.

HeadlessLadyH · 02/05/2010 11:45

Happy Birthday to all the yummy babies who are the big ONE today! Can't believe it. I keep having to pinch myself that its been a whole year and here I am pregnant again. With twins. I would not have believed you if you had told me THAT a year ago.

Anyway, I hope all the babies and parents have lovely days. Shame about the weather though. We have people coming round later and am still hoping we can chuck the kids into the garden so praying very hard it doesn't rain.

R ended up with one of those water and sand tables from ELC. And we had a lovely half hour earlier with DS1 and DS2 both playing in it. Took some pics which I will try and put on FB tonight.

momi hope you actually did press delete when you wrote your email . It would be just my luck to do that and then press send without thinking!!

ses fantastic news about your job. Really well done!

grumpy Russell Crowe. Used to have a massive crush on the Gladiator version of him but that was a good 10 years ago now. Haven't watched JR yet. Hope your DD and her friend had a lovely sleepover despite the choice of game.

looby nice to see you. Sounds like M and you had a fab 1st birthday.

Have to run as stuff to do for the birthday boy this afternoon (currently fast asleep!).

Reggiee · 02/05/2010 11:58

Lots of birthdays today. Hope all mums and babies have a wonderful day .

pulapula · 02/05/2010 20:14

Happy Birthday to all the babies who are 1 today .

Well, I have found something much harder than taking 3 DCs to church- taking 3 DCs and 2 parents . Our church is at 4pm followed by a meal. I found myself fetching 5 meals, having a very grumpy baby on my knee whilst buttering DS1s scone and dealing with DDs tantrums over (more) cake, whilst my parents ate their tea and chatted to my friends, who I hardly ever get to chat to over the meal as I am juggling DCs . Can you tell I am a bit .

Hope everyone is having a nice bank hol weekend although i am aware some of you have been working. It's been pretty cold though.

Ses- we're planning a York meetup on Fri 28 May so if you are up at the end of May we could all meet you . I would love to meet you and O.

flippinegg · 02/05/2010 21:43

Evening all!

Flying visit, sorry. And no namechecking because tbh I'm very tired. And my neck still hurts.

The pox has left the building! A is very very much better now, she just looks terrible because of the flaky scabby bits that are left. And sleeping better too . Don't know what's happened, but I've managed to get her back in her cot much more often, and a few times I've managd to get her back to sleep without feeding her! I'm not trying to stop feeding totally, just restrict the night time feeds a bit more to see if she can sleep a bit longer, and also because it kills my neck and back to feed her in bed.

I'll try and catch up more tomorrow.

Miss you all mwah

flippinegg · 02/05/2010 21:51

Actually, I can manage a HAPPY BIRTHDAY for anyone who'd like it!

belgina · 02/05/2010 22:39

Hi all,

What a busy birthday weekend this has been for many of you! Hope they've all had a good day.

flip I did that with C about a month ago. Especially because she used to go 11-4.30 up to 6mo, so I started by dropping her 1 o'clock feed and just cuddling her instead and it's worked. It was slow but, now she nearly always goes until about 3.30-4 with the occasional night where she wakes around 1.30-2, but I don't feed her if she wakes the.

looby I hope you feel better today. I think it might be a good idea to confide in a rl friend. I'm sure they'll be happy to help out if they realise how much you're struggling with your mum and dad. You don't have to go into detail regarding your trouble with your DH, just say that he isn't all that much of a help.

I've spent some time this weekend clearing away 'proper' baby things. I took the mobile of the cot, put away some of the simple baby rattles etc... My baby's getting big. This time last my mum was here to wait for C and I couldn't walk and carry things at the same time cos it hurt.

Tummum · 03/05/2010 09:35

Morning all. Thanks all for the Happy Birthday wishes for my little boy. He's getting all grown up now We had a lovely day yesterday, with lots of people popping in for a cuppa and some cake. And my M&D kepts the ILs under control , I love my M&D I do ! I am now a walking zombie because G has been up all night coughing. I'm a bit concerned that he might be getting croup again. The house looks like a bomb has hit it, but I am so knackered I can't be arsed to clear it up. Never mind .

Flip so glad the pox is now all over and done with. Have you seen anyone about your neck? If it's still feeling bad might be worth a trip to the GP.

Belgina at clearing out baby stuff. Will you be using it again for another LO I wonder...

Looby I'm a bit worried about you. Sounds like there's lots going on in your life at the moment. Have you got anyone to talk to about what's going on?

Pula I would be cross about having to handle 3 DCs and 2 parents like that. My ILs are like that - sort themselves out and have no thoughts about helping out with the DCs at all.

Ses wow, congratulations on the job. Sounds fantastic and a challenge too!

Momi hope you had a lovely day yesterday. And LadyH. May 2nd is a special day

Grumps am at moving to York. I'd love to live there. But moving again

Right, the DDs have loads of attitude on them today, as always after a visit from the ILs (who went home this morning ) so I need to be firm Mummy today. Must say to myself "don't shout, don't shout, be patient"

Tummum · 03/05/2010 09:35

Forgot to say hello to llare

essenceofSES · 03/05/2010 10:39

Glad all the birthdays seemed to go well yesterday - sounds like great fun was had all round!

Tummum - hope it's not the croup back again and G is better soon

Pula - it's that exact wkend that I'm planning my York trip! We (me, O and my cousin) are travelling up the Thursday evening and as my friend is usually at work on Fridays, Fri 29th may work out just fine!!
Yay

Flip - glad the pox are gone but do get your neck looked at if you haven't already.

Headless - that sounded like a great half hour of DSs playing nicely together. Here's to many more occassions like that!!

Hello everyone else - momi, Llare, Belgina, Looby, Reggiee, Grumpy and everyone!

Blottedcopybook · 03/05/2010 11:39

Happy birthday to all the birthday babes! I'm having a name check amnesty because I swear I just don't have time to go back through the thread but quick mentions to LadyH TWINS!!! Oh My God! Congratulations! and Looby I hope you're doing okay sweetie, keep your chin up xx

pulapula · 03/05/2010 18:02

Ooh ses would be lovely to see you on the Friday- think we are planning meeting at the railway museum.

I feel really tired after a day out in the sun/rain/wind with all DHs family to celebrate FILs birthday. The house is a tip and we're back at work/school/nursery tomorrow so need to get organised. At least I only have a 3 day week at work as I now don't work Fridays .

Finally ordered a cozy coupe for Ss birthday, and my parents are getting him a wheely bug. I should take belgina's lead and start doing something about the baby toys . I plan to sort toys into donate to play groups/nursery and sell on ebay, although my SIL is due in Sept so she might want some of them...

Better go - bathtime for the DCs.

belgina · 03/05/2010 20:43

Hi everyone,

Sounds like you've all had busy weekends. We didn't go far due to the rain, but still had fun playing some games etc...

tumm Good to hear your M&D gave you a hand with the ILs. I hope G doesn't get croup again.

pula I put the baby toys away cos DH was on his way with a big van full of the last bits and pieces from the Midlands. I had to clear some space!

flip How's your neck? Agree with seeing your GP if it hasn't gone after this long. Glad to hear you're CP free again.

Hi blotted Don't worry about NC. IT was nice to see you again anyway.

Yes, it's now final and all our last junk posessions are now in Kent. The sides of the house will soon pop open in a cartoon fashion, but hey ho. We'll find a spot the tip soon enough.

I managed to put C's hair in pig tails today V. cute, from the front. At the back there was a lot of hair that didn't make it. She's really doing some amazing babbling lately. Favourites are Aboogaboogabooga and baabmbaabmbaamb, the latter is quite funny as it sounds like our GP's name (he's African). Oh and she's starting to make a Dutch 'G' sound, which I really need to get out of her because I want her to have the softer Flemish 'G'. No child of mine will speak with a Dutch accent. I'd have to disown her

I think something is going on with me hormone wise. When DH came home I actually thought of 'relations' and haven't managed to stop thinking about it since I think I might be ovulating... for the first time in 21 months or so. I think that means that my AF is on it's way back too AND that I should make sure I'm prepared from now on.

Anyhow. Better go and help DH take the van back to the rental place before it's midnight.

llareggub · 03/05/2010 22:51

Ooooh, Belgina, tell me more about the Dutch accent thing. Why don't you want C to have a Dutch accent over a Flemish one? I LOVE hearing about national rivalries. On the hormones thing, me too. No CHANCE of any relations though, we've STILL got G in the bed.

Blotted, Reggiee, Looby hello!

Tummum how is G today? I hope it isn't croup again.

Ses Hello! Congratulations on the new job. It sounds amazing. What a great challenge.

Flipp I'm glad you are all feeling better.

Headless where are those photos?

We had a rubbish bank holiday. We went to a local stately home in time for lunch in their cafe. We paid £17 for us all to get in only to find that there was no food to be found! We spent an hour wandering around aimlessly to find something suitable for the boys before it started to rain. We decided to head back home only to get stuck in a traffic jam for an hour.

Gah.

We ended up in a restaurant 5 minutes from home eating pizza. We should have gone there first!

G really did demonstrate that he is growing up today. He threw his sticklebricks down the loo and couldn't stop giggling when we found them.

Blottedcopybook · 04/05/2010 08:36

Llare that's ridiculous, I'd have been demanding my money back! Do you have anything like the National Trust for Scotland down south? We pay an annual membership fee which gets us into the member places for free rather than having to pay absurd entry fees - it's actually really cheap.

It's DD1's birthday today! I can't believe she's 3 already, where does the time go? We woke her up by singing happy birthday to her and she woke with the biggest smile. Wee champ that she is!

llareggub · 04/05/2010 09:03

Yes, we are National Trust members and that is what we usually do. Its just that we fancied a stroll around the sculpture trail at this particular one. I've emailed a stroppy note but I'm not holding my breath. Honestly, at one point I thought I was going to stage a revolution, as a chef dressed in whites wandered past so I grabbed him and asked where we could get food. He told me that he was just there to cook for the family!

runningmonkey · 04/05/2010 18:35

Helloooooooooooo Ladies

A quick hello from me as we're Just back from a lovely weekend in Wales celebrating my Grandad's 85th Birthday and catching up with my cousin who is over from Oz for a little while, oh and had a lovely cuddle with my other cousin's 12 week old ds (am V broody ). A was a little star and entertained everyone with her constant babbling which its like a running commentary. Favourites are 'shusha-weeeeee' and 'bulabulabula' both are usually accompanied by very insistent pointing but we have no idea what she is on about!

Happy birthday to all the new 1 year olds I tried to catch up with a few on fb over weekend but not sure I got them all! Oh and happy 3rd birthday blotted's DD1.
