Morning all!

headless - hope your weekend of ILs is ok and that the shock is wearing off!

belgina - hope the duct has cleared, ouch.

sausage - hope you've managed to keep walking! And that a holiday solution has been found.

Hello fi, long time no see! Hope the patterns are all going ok.

All ok here, mostly. DD1 is just scabby now, scabby and crabby! A is snotty, but still no signs of the pox, I guess if she's going to get it she'll have got it from DD1 so I'd expect spots later this week. DH is off cycling today, so I'm on my own. Gorgeous day, not sure what our plans are yet.

Work are still annoying me! I've spoken on the phone to my lovely line manager, she's sorting everything out their end, but the arse who is the head of unit hasn't even acknowledged my email/letter, and I had to write to him directly to resign. The more (well, less!) he does, the more pleased I am that I won't have to see him again. Sorry, there's me being bitter again!

flippinegg · 18/04/2010 09:08

Oops, forgot to say - hope everyone is ok and that you are all having lovely sunny weekends!

belgina · 18/04/2010 09:51

Morning all.
Very quiet on here this weekend. Must be the sunshine

flippin glad to hear your dd's now officially allowed to mingle with other los again. I think my 2 had it a week apart, so maybe A is escaping it this time? Maybe cos you're still bf her immune system is managing to fight it off? Ds escaped it when he was 9m when my mindee came down with it. DS had spent a whole day with the boy the day before the boy's spots broke out, so he would have been exposed to the chickenpox virus.

fi Nice to see you. Hope your patterns are nearly finished for you. On the subject of patterns. I can't seem to find a crochetted hat pattern that sits over the ears rather above. Any suggestions where I might find one? Nothing on ravelry as far as I could see.

Boob was getting worse and worse yesterday. It's at the top so difficult for C to empty, tried dangling over her so she can can latch on with her feet by my head IYKWIM, but she wouldn't have it. Anyway. Got some ibuprofen and taking regular doses of that since yesterday has actually made a big difference and the redness has now as good as gone and the pain is just soreness now.

Oh and while I'm on the topic of meds. Can I just have a little rave of Aveeno cream to those of you who might have los with eczema? I bought some for ds last week as his eczema has flaired up with the nicer weather (he gets it in warm weather rather than cold ) and the hand cream works really well on me. Well, after only 3 days his eczema is better than it has ever ever EVER been in his whole little life without resorting to hydrocortisone. It's absolutely brilliant stuff. His arms now look almost normal and his neck and sides are properly soft! Just had to share this, because it's such exciting news for us . I'm pretty sure I have tried every cream under the sun for him so far

flippinegg · 18/04/2010 10:11

Morning belgina!

I'd really rate Aveeno too - my nephew has terrible excema everywhere, but Aveeno really helps, and you can get it on prescription too, so it's worth asking your GP.

re the blocked duct - I assume you're doing all the stroking and hot flannels too? When C is feeding, are you stroking downwards towards the nipple? Also fut hot flannels on it before a feed to soften everything, and have when you have a shower or bath do the stroking thing. Apologies if you're already doing this, just thought it's worth a reminder. I'm sure I read somewhere about using a wide-toothed comb as well, but I don't know about that!

momino · 18/04/2010 13:31

morning.
belgina, hope your blocked duct is feeling better. how was C's sleeping last night? About aveeno, dd1 gets the cream and the bath oil on prescription. good stuff.

flippin, glad the CP effects are dwindling.

beautiful morning but it's become cloudy now so not sure we'll still go on our planned picnic tea. well, as long as it doesn't rain.

I went babysitting last night for a friend who went out to dinner and I found it so relaxing to sit at someone else's house. no cleaning, no cooking, no babies upstairs except a little boy who barely knew i was there and slept the entire time.

I also got a couple hours of work done and felt so productive. i find it difficult to be productive at home since i feel guilty doing work when I feel i should be paying attention to DH/DDs/dog or cleaning the house or cooking.

hope everyone is well and having good weekends.

FiByTheIcySea · 18/04/2010 14:18

glad the pox has almost gone flip grrr about your work although as you say it makes you glad to not be going back!
belgina i had a really good go massaging my blocked duct (don't know if i ever mentioned it but twas ages ago!)while soaking in a hot bath & i found the water a real help to support my boob giving me two hands to massage. my pattern writing is ongoing and funnily i'm on hats! is it a round head fitting type that goes over the ears or one that has more of an ear flap look that you're after? i'm another aveeno fan
momino ikwym about working when the dc's dh are around.. i've been ploughing on in the evenings.. during the day i get too many interruptions and i feel bad anyway plus dh can't seem to cope on his own with G & DS without asking me this that n the next thing [hmm ]

HeadlessLadyH · 18/04/2010 19:10

Evening all.

Thank you all so much for your words of encouragement about my news. I am feeling a bit more positive about it now. I still have to pinch myself every now and again but the news is sinking in slowly. I have so many fears and worries about the WHOLE situation that I could take up a complete thread about it. In fact I probably will in the next week or so.

The ILs visit was tedious in the extreme. FILs reaction to The News was Oh we have some chinese friends who had twins last week. Err.....hello. Over here you stupid man. Do I care? Could you try to sound shocked/pleased or something? MIL was lovely however.

flip glad to hear the pox is lifting and I'm sure you must feel that a massive weight has been taken away with you handing in your notice. Sod the boss! Not your problem anymore.

belgina hope the duct clears up. Sounds painful. Any joy with the house hunting yet BTW?

Really looking forward to meeting spangle pula and jael tomorrow.

Sorry not to NC properly.

AM going to head to the Multiples Board for a bit of a nose for a bit now and probably scare myself witless.

belgina · 18/04/2010 20:44

headless Glad to hear that the 1st shock of getting the twin news is wearing off now. When I grew up one of the neighbours also had a lets have a no3 and whoops it's twins event ending in 4 dcs. They were girls and I could never tell them apart. In fact no one could, so whenever we played hide and seek it was quite interesting, lol.

blocked duct is as good as gone. It was a strange one this time. Normally the massaging while feeding + massaging in shower etc... works, but this time it didn't. Only the anti-inflamatories have made a difference I'm a bit worried tomorrow will be worse again, because I'll be at work.

fi I'm looking for just a round hat. To fit an 8-10yo. It's for my 5yo niece, but she's got an absolutely huge amount of hair and wears hats that are much bigger that what a girl her age would wear

Well today has been an expensive day. I noticed yesterday fairly late in the day that one of my tyres had a funny bulge on it. On closer examination I found that the other side was nearly bald as well, so I had to go and get myself some new tyres before tomorrow as work is quite far away + motorway, so I went to the only place that was open on a Sunday: Kwik Fit and it cost me a small fortune, because the wheels also needed balancing etc... There goes my summer outfit money. I've now started listing stuff on eBay again and it looks like an eBay summer wardrobe for me and the dcs too

llareggub · 18/04/2010 20:45

Headless sounds like a typical FIL reaction. I once a boyfriend propose to me (not DH) and when we told his parents about it, his father actually responded "did you see the cricket score?" No surprise then that we never made it to the altar!

On a more serious note, my friend had twins 3 or so months ago and I'm sure she'll be happy to discuss the logistics of it all with you. She is a wonderful advert for twin motherhood; she seems to be coping very well! She tells me that the best thing they did was to join TAMBA. I've no idea wjhy, she didn't elaborate, but that's what she said!

Have a great meet-up tomorrow!

Belgina I might have a look for that cream. Thanks for the recommendation. How is that blocked duct?

I'm off to tidy like a woman possessed. My friend is coming over on Tuesday and she has a house of show house standard, despite the fact she has a 3 year old and a 1 year old like me. I was shocked when I went to hers for the first time. I've no idea how she does it.

I hope everyone is enjoying the sunshine. We've had a lazy day today. I was up most of the night with DS2 and his snotty cold, so I've given him a pillow this evening to try and help him sleep a little. He is only 2 weeks of 12 months so I thought why not?

Tummum · 18/04/2010 21:23

Hello everyone. Hope you all had nice weekends. We were camping and got very sunburned.

Headless glad you are feeling a bit calmer. Hope you haven't scared yourself too much on the multiples board. Oh, and at FIL reaction. What an idiot.

Belgina glad the duct has gone. How is it now? I'll try that cream out on DD1 as she has really bad excema. The GP made me feel thoroughly rubbish because I didn't out cream on DD1 at least 3 times a day

Llare hello !

Fi Hello too !

Flip you sound well out of that job. Hope the DDs illnesses all improve.

Sorry for being rubbish and not NC-ing everyone else.

So, I have an interview tomorrow for a job in Crewe. It's a really interesting role, but would mean upping sticks, moving kids schools and working full time too. So not sure I even want the job... Rushed out to buy a suit for the occasion, and got one for £50 at Next. Bargain!

Hope the meet up goes well tomorrow. I'm going to sign off 'cos I'm blinking knackered and have a stonking headache I need to shift. I might stay up to see George the architect. He is quite yummy,

Tummum · 18/04/2010 21:26

Oh, and DH thought he saw a UFO last night . Not sure what to make of it really. So he's reported it on some dodgy UFO site, and looks like some others also saw what he saw. Very strange

essenceofSES · 18/04/2010 21:36

Hello! Just checking in!

Headless - at FIL but glad MIL was ok.

Tummum - you chose a great wkend to go camping! Hope sunburn isn't too sore.
Good luck with interview!

Belgina - glad duct has cleared. Hope it stays that way.

Llare - lazy day sounds just what you needed! Hope pillow helps G.

We went off for a lovely sunny walk today and then sat in the garden eating chicken salad for tea

Jennster · 18/04/2010 22:01

Headless and Spangle Oh that is absolutely fantastic and lovely news. I could almost feel broody again. Thank God I have the coil....no thanks to dh who didn't get the snip....(but that's another story) Seriously though, the whole cycle of life goes on, wonderful, wonderful news, I know you will find the same support on the next threads/sites you visit.

Knitting I've knitted this recently and love love love it's warmth, quickness to knit and it's REALLY easy too.

belgina · 18/04/2010 22:43

jenn That link only showed abit of the cardigan (if that's what it is) Looks lovely. Doesn't look easy though, lol. I haven't plucked up the courage yet to try knitting. I'm sticking with crochetting for now.

llare Hope you get your house to show home standard by tuesday. I never understand how some women manage to keep their house like that. Ds's friend's house is like that. I'm going to try C with a pillow once she's 1. TBH half the time she ends up sleeping on my pillow when she joins us in bed, so it's not as if she's been away from pillows.

tumm Good luck with your job interview. I only use that Aveeno 1x a day and it's making a big difference. Anything else we've had in the past was 2-3x a day type creams, which obviously never ever happened in this slightly disorganised household.

We also had our lunch outdoors today. I also had a brainwave re letting C play outside (it's a patio, no grass). She's still just rolling, so was bound to bang her head on the patio, so I got the travel cot out and put it outside for her as a playpen. She had a good 1.5h in there before getting fed up. 1st outdoor play for her this year

FiByTheIcySea · 19/04/2010 08:40

good luck tummum with the interview even if you're not sure if you want it..
llare i know someone like that.. she gets up an hour before the dc's to clean etc. every day.. i love sleep too much!

flippinegg · 19/04/2010 10:14

Morning all!

tummum - hope the interview goes ok. Even if you don't want the job, it might be a bit of an ego boost?

llareggub - good luck with the cleaning! I hate having people come round to our house, it makes me nervous and embarassed. Daft, I know.

Quiet day today, DD1 has gone to the CM. Still no sign of pox on A!

hopalongsausage · 19/04/2010 11:51

Hello!

Oooh aveeno - someone on this thread recommended it to me when we were all pregnant as my eczema turned my skin into flaky pastry! Have been on it ever since - really has transformed my life!

Oh bugger wouldn't you know it, M has just woken up, 2 minutes after I have sat down with a cup of tea and MN after doing a gazillion jobs this morning.

Holiday is prob going to be Menorca - end of June before schools break up. Wooh! My parents used to have an apartment there in the 80s (wish they still had it) so I vaguely remember some of it.

Pft. Better go. Will be back later and NC and say wotcha properly

llareggub · 19/04/2010 14:07

Hello!

Well, my first proper week at work and I'm off. The boys are usually looked after by MIL and she rang this morning to say that she is ill, so I've booked leave. I could have gone to the meet-up after all. I don't think I'd be welcome; we all all very snotty and smothered in cold. Poor old G (and me!) have spent the last 2 nights waking each other up. Grump.

House definitely not anywhere near show home standard and will never be, even if I dedicate the next 48 hours to cleaning. I'm not just not made that way. I've also got one son who is a recycling addict and who likes to recreate blinking tips inside the house. He has a constant supply of empty boxes for this ridiculous obsession so it looks like we have rubbish everywhere.

pulapula · 19/04/2010 18:16

Phew, what a busy day. Just popped on to say that I really enjoyed meeting ladyhelen spangle and jael and their LOs today . Llare- snotty boys would have fitted right in. I introduced S to everyone with a lovely crusty green bogey on his nose - at least spangle had the decency to give H's nose a good wipe as she got him out of the car . Will be back on later- better go bath the DCs.

belgina · 19/04/2010 20:07

Evening all,

saus Hurrah for your hols. Menorca is miles better than Holland AND by early june this vulcano should have stopped spuwing out ash I would think

llare Oh no. That's not good. I hope your MIL will get better soon so you can go back to work. My own house will never reach show home status either, not only because of the stuff that's everywhere, but also because we've got a mish mash of old furniture going on.

tumm Hope your interview went well

ladyH spangle jael Sounds like you've had a nice meet up there in the Midlands. It's a shame I've moved or I'd have come along too.

Everyone else: hope you had a great day too.

Well, I had one of the best days at work yet. I got to work a touch late and they sent my straight to lw to help out. Got this lady who was in the pool, supposedly only temporarily because she wanted an epidural once she got in established labour. Anyway, she cracked on quickly and had her baby in the pool. The baby appeared a bit unexpectedly all of a sudden and I found myself without gloves on fishing around the murky water trying to catch this slippery little thing while shouting for help at the top of my voice, lol. I was up to my shoulders in the water and got a wet uniform, but it was great I'm now on such a high. I wish all labours went like this. It would make my job so much more enjoyable.

C still gets upset every time I get home. It doesn't matter what she's doing, as soon as I walk in she want me (and boob). If I don't pick her up straightaway she starts crying. It's lovely really.

Right better go and help the dcs to bed.

SpangleMaker · 19/04/2010 20:36

Had a lovely day today meeting pula Headless Jael and their LOs. Four blond, blue-eyed babies . pula's DS1 and jael's DD were holding hands which was very sweet. Llare it would have been lovely to meet you & DS2, snot and all! I did indeed fish an enormous green bogey out of H's nose whilst walking over to meet everyone - nice.

Belgina aww that sounds lovely. I your job sounds really tough but experiences like that must make it worth it. BTW H is like C - he bursts into tears when I arrive at nursery to pick him up.

Tummum good luck for your job interview. I don't live so far from Crewe. I can't say I find Crewe itself very inspiring but there are some lovely places nearby. Go on, tell us about your DH's UFO sighting .

I can't decide if I have any symptoms or not. I definitely feel very, very tired but then with H's night time antics that's pretty much a permanent state. I'm not quite 5wks yet though so plenty of time for exhaustion, MS etc to appear.

belgina · 19/04/2010 21:03

spangle With all 3 my symptoms didn't really arrive until week6. With dd1 I didn't get the breast tenderness until after I stopped to BF ds, when I was about 5m pregnant.

Gotta to and watch flashforward now

llareggub · 19/04/2010 21:13

Oh Belgina that is a LOVELY birth story. What a lucky new mother to have you as her MW.

Spangle I don't remember any early pregnancy symptoms with DS2. FOr a start it was a surprise as we'd decided to put TTC on hold after a few very early MCs so I wasn't looking for anything. I've never had morning sickness, just tiredness!

Tumum I want to hear this UfO story too. I must admit to sitting in my conservatory the last few evenings looking for strange lights.

Glad the meet-up went well.

Tummum · 19/04/2010 21:52

Hello everyone. Well, the interview was weird. It was more them selling me the job than the other way around. I hadn't twigged that it would be that way (I'm a bit dense, me!) because it is a headhunting agency. Anyway, I'm none the wiser really. If the job was within driving distance I would have no hesitation in going for it, but we would have to totally move the kids and everything, and I'd really prefer not to.

Right, the UFO story. Well, we were on the campsite, and I was putting the DCs to bed. Our friends were outside, looking at the stars with DH and they noticed a large round orange light (about twice the size of a normal star) seemingly hovering in the sky. Apparently it flitted about a bit, then hovered, then zoomed up into the sky at 45 degrees. When we got home yesterday, our friend looked this up on a UFO site and apparently they weren't the only ones to see it. I really don't believe in UFOs and so forth but this does seem a bit strange .

Right, enough of me. Onto a NC

Llare & Flip I am so glad to find other non-showhome Mummies. I have a cleaner, so the house is clean for at least 5 minutes until the DCs, DH (and, admittedly me) arrive back and all hell breaks loose.

Glad the meet up went really well, and at snotty noses. My G also has a permanent wet patch on his top from the constant dribbling. Oh, and food patches all over his clothes from weetabix and lunch and stuff.

Spangle glad you are not feeling toooo sick at the mo.

Yay for Menorca Sausage. Much better than Holland. Not that Holland isn't nice, but YKWIM !

Hey Fi and Ses. Hope you are having a nice week so far

belgina · 19/04/2010 22:09

tumm Oooh, that must have been a boost, you know finding that you've been head hunted. Like the UFO story. Was there anywhere nearby that might use spot lights? The cinema in Ghent, which was easily 6-7 miles away from my parents, had them and we could see them from our house moving around the sky. If we hadn't know then we might have mistaken them for UFOs too.

I keep telling DH that he should really show a little interest in my job and maybe just either listen to my stories or have a flick through my books. When I told him about the water birth story, he thought I had gone into the pool with the woman to "pull the baby out" The man really has no idea. Firstly, bathing suits aren't part of the uniform and secondly babies don't need to be pulled out! He clearly hasn't learnt a thing from being my birthing partner x3
