Hi girls, thought the old thread was in need of a spring clean, plus, I'm sure if my memory serves me right, one of us had our May-due baby in March (Macoco???) so someone is 2 soon....!

Hi girls!!

Haribo got up at 3:43 this morning and Mims got up at 5am...

needless to say, they are both now fast asleep!!!

Happy birthday Shogirl - hope the party is a great success.

Right, going to try and catch an hours sleep.

baiyu · 30/05/2010 19:27

Hello all and happy birthday to all those with birthdays at the moment. Apologies for being out of touch, on hols at the moment up in Scotland, blooming midges but lovely. DS LOVING playing with my sisters and mum, gives us a chance to read the papers, bliss!

Lucky2010 · 30/05/2010 21:00

at shogirl.....it just needs that 'W'......

Sho, I hope the weather stayed OK for mini Sho's BBQ. We had dry and sunyy but very windy.

All good here. Sorry to boast but I'm going to (shameless, I know). DD1 swam a whole length without her armbands at the pool yesterday! V proud! She also cycled about 2 miles today while I power walked along side her. She's such a fit little thing, I love it. Went to the park around the corner (5 mon walk) with a friend and her DS, smae age, and he refused to walk so she carried him all the way .

On the downside, we did have a muffin disaster this morning....se FB for details!!

HM Hope DS is OK now. DD2 fell down the stairs earlier, I didn't see it but I heard it. We have split stairs so it would have been 6 at the most. She cried for all of 2 mins and then was laughing again .

DH at work tonight, I should be showering and chillin on the sofa by now....

Sho I was a bit disappointed with LOST TBH, although having read Flick's post it does make a little more sense now. I'm secretly quite glad it's over and I don't have to think about it anymore!!

We watched Titanic in HD last night....amazing!

right....off to the shower....

Morning all!

HM hope you find something fun to do today, and you haven't been up since the crack of dawn.

Got back from Surrey yesterday evening and had friends over for a BBQ, they brought all the food. All the children stayed up til they went at 11. Latest mine have ever stayed up til .

Off to Westbay today meet up with ILs, hopefully traffic won't be too bad on the way back .

Harimo · 31/05/2010 14:11

Hi guys!!

Actually, I had a good morning - took the kids on a dog walk (no, Doof not here... Dh not relented on that one ) but with a friend and her child and dog. her DH works in Holland, so in the same boat as me. T'was nice to get out!

And Haribo (who REFUSES to use a pushchair) was pooped at the end of it so sleeping soundly in bed....

(But, sadly, yes, was up at crack of dawn... 4:30am this morning!!)

LM - Well done your DD1... It's great when you can get them excited / interested in exercise... stands them so well for the rest of their lives. Haribo is a whirlwind... Will happily walk for 4-5 miles (yes, 4-5 MILES). Not bad for a kid who didn't take his first steps until 14 months old!!!!

Look at all you guys on hols!! Hope you are all having FAB times and Mitchell - hope you get home OK... MM - How are you!? and Baiyu - I hope you are having well earned rest!!!

I'm sure Im the only person tooling around here today... Took Haribo (well, and Mims) to see trains yesterday... Good, he loves them.. (possibly a bit too much!!) I can't quite put my finger on it, but it's turning into a bit of an obsession.

Don't want to bore you all here, but am going to start a thread about development etc., WIll link to it, for those who have the inclination time to read !

Happy Mondays!!

HM xx

shonnomanom · 31/05/2010 18:14

Happy Sunny Monday ladies!

Yesterday went well. The sun wasnt out but the rain stayed off and that was the biggest worry.
We had a great day and dd got spoiled rotten as usual. Q: what do you do with a present that you absolutely detest? DP's sister gave dd a life size doll. I cant stand the thing. I really dont like dolls that are too realistic, im fine with baby dolls. I would need to, dd has 9! Which sil knows fine well. Not sure if she done it on purpose...
Dd was a horror last night at refused point blank to go to bed. She stayed up to about 1130, watching tv with dp and I. ww maybe she thought she was at you bbq lol

Lucky - -im a bit glad too that Lost is now over, no more confusion.

Working 11 hours tommorrow thanks to a inservice day and I really dont think iv got the energy for a rainy day. Its such a long day especially if its raining.

Thanks for all the birthday wishes

Willabywallaby · 31/05/2010 19:25

Sho I'd give it to a charity shop or sell it on.

Harimo · 31/05/2010 19:33

Ebay or offer it on MN...

Seriously... Haribo was given a 'woody' toy (the character from Toy story before any of you get the wrong idea ) and he hated it.

Someone was looking for a cheap woody (cue much tittering on MN!!!) and I sold it to her.

I was pleased I got a bit of money for it (other it would have gone to the charity shop or (worse) broken at the bottom of the toy box) and it's nice to think that another child really appreciated him. He was BRAND new!!

SO, I would def. say: Take the decision, while it's still in a box etc., and get it listed!!!

Lucky2010 · 31/05/2010 19:53

Phew! A hectic day here of a morning playdate and an afternoon party 30 miles from home. Good fun and tired but happy children.

I am a little concerned ladies as I have had, for the past 36 hrs or so, a weird taste in my mouth which is constant. I wouldn't really describe it as metallic as such, kind of as if I've been sucking on a bar of soap??? I'm too scared to google it as such but I can't get the idea out of my head that it might be something nasty.....any ideas??? Obviously I can't be pregnant.

OP posts:
Harimo · 31/05/2010 20:53

LM - Pregnancy must be the first thought Other than that, kidney problems are the other biggie?

Not sure if you can get a kidney test?

Willabywallaby · 01/06/2010 09:59

Or just a general blood test. You might be low in something. I wouldn't google far too much misinformation on tinternet IMO.

Tired today...

shonnomanom · 03/06/2010 12:59

hey!
Thanks for the suggestions, think Im gonna take that horrid doll back to ToysRus for an exchange. Dd hasnt even showed any interest in it at all. Thank goodness.

How are you feeling now Lucky? I must admit, pregnancy was my first thought. Am I right in thinking your man had the snip, is that why you said 'Obviously I can't be pregnant'?

Dd isnt feeling too well today. Got a high temperature and feeling lousy. Hopefully wont last too long.

Sho x

Lucky2010 · 03/06/2010 22:54

The funny taste has all but gone..... Still there occasionally when I eat certain foods but much better. Less concerned now....
phew! Yes Sho, DH has indeed been snipped.

Off to M&D's for the weekend. Leaving DH here working....ha ha!!!

Hello all, back in the South, goodness it gets dark early down here Nice to be home but not so nice that DH is back at work, I miss long uni holidays!

Had a bit of a nasty shock while we were away, FIL has recently had to go into a care home (dementia and he's 81) and basically they nearly killed him. Dr. reckoned he'd have been dead in 24 hours if they hadn't intervened (ie. MIL called in help not care home noticing anything) - lack of food, severe dehydration, kidney failure etc etc. Thankfully he's stable now, still not well, but it was a close call. Makes me so angry how often things like this happen, and these crooks charge a blooming fortune! Anyway, rant over. Sorry.

DS is good but seriously testing us sleep wise again. He ended up in our bed a lot on holiday and it's been a nightmare trying to keep him in his bed. We've had one of us on the floor in his room last 2 nights so we're both looking pretty rough, my watch tonight, urgh. Can't believe we are still having sleep issues 2 years on, so depressing.

Harimo very impresive! DS will walk for a few miles but takes forever as he's not good a straight lines but wanders off to look at everything!

LM That's wonderful, what a good start you're giving your girls. Glad the funny taste is gone.

Bump ever expanding, 23 weeks now. Feeling lots of movement which is lovely

Hope everyone is good.

shonnomanom · 08/06/2010 11:38

baiyu that is shocking treatment of your FIL! I hope your family family reported the care home for their negligence(sp?).
I feel you pain sleep wise. Dd has been horrid recently. She has been too tired to sleep iykwim. So its been taking hours to get her down at night and ususally results in me sleeping on the chair in her room whilst waiting on her to fall asleep. Some nights its been 2230 or later!
In her defence though she has been unfortunate enough to have a fever during the latest heat wave and subsequently came out in a heat rash.
She also has a throat and ear infection so is feeling pretty sorry for herself. Constantly asking for Bubba (icepoles).

Last night was a good night, she was down for about 2045 and slept right through until 0745 this morning. Good times.

On Sunday there, my mum, sister and myself walked the Race for Life in Glasgow. Apparently there were 16000+ participants. The largest race this year. We walked the 5k in 1hour 50 secs. Would have been faster were it not for my sisters dodgy knee.

This weekend my sister is having dd over for 2 nights. The longest we have ever been apart.
You probably wont know but GirlGuiding is 100yo this year and so my county is having a Centenary camp to celebrate. The camp is this weekend. Only Guides will be camping for the weekend but Brownies and Rainbows are there all day Saturday.
My mum will be roughing it with her Guides and dp is working so dd is going to my sisters and she lives too far away for her just to stay the day. Its gonna be weird not seeing her for soo ling but hopefully il be too busy at the camp to have time to miss her iykwim. . .

Hopefully everyone is happy and healthy
Sho x

Lucky2010 · 08/06/2010 20:00

Sho Enjoy girl guide camp, I used to love mine.

I had a great weekend at my folks, took the girls to a farm near them and met and old school friend and her 8mo DD. Went on a 20 mile bike ride with Dad in the afternoon, and then went over to the same school friend's house in the evening along with another friend and had chinese take away...yummy! Had to sleep sitting up I was so full . DD1 had a ride in Grampa's sidecar...she loved it (gonna put some pics on FB).

I feel pretty tired at the mo. Had alate nights at Mum's, tend to stay up chatting to M&D til the early hours. DD1 was carsick on the way down (hmm, cleaning vomit off a kids car seat top of my list of absolute worst jobs ever). Had long journeys with traffic.

Monday morning I decided to get up and go on a 10 mile bike ride at 5:45am, before going to work. Felt amazing until about 3pm then just wanted to sleep. Fell asleep at 7pm while DD1 watching a DVD. She has to wake me up when it was finished !!! That'll teach me for being so ambitious.

Just bought tickets to see Jason Manford live at our local theatre. It's not til Jan 2011 but that will be part of DH's Christmas pressie.

Right, off to upload some pics...

Just catching a quick minute while England are playing to say Hi.

I don't seem to have a minute these days - Mims is crawling and starting to walk now and just keeps me busy every second of the day!! Haribo is a little dynamo as usual.

How is everyone? quiet on here!!!

Lucky2010 · 13/06/2010 20:42

All good here. Off on hols on Friday, just got a minor detour to North London to go to my cousin's wedding first...how inconvenient...!!!

monkeysmama · 13/06/2010 20:57

Hey girls

Hope everyone is doing well.

Harimo I can't believe Mimi is starting to walk ! It only feels like a few months ago you told us you were expecting number two. I also find it hard to imagine that I could have a mobile LO 2 when I still feel like a relatively new mum to dd.

Had busy time. Week away with mum and sister (and dd of course!) was lovely. Had lots of major work going on to the house which has been stressful, especially for dd. Off to Spain next week for a week with dp's family. I am dreading it. Seething this evening about it actually. His sister and her dh and 2 LOs have gone with his parents for 2 weeks. I was led to believe we'd have one night and day cross over with them which I was already thinking would be unbearable but copable with lots of wine. Now I hear they're with us for 3 days, and that we're sharing an apartment (& one bathroom) with his parents. I am not even going to think about it.

Dd is doing well apart from upset about the house upheaval. She's so brilliant. She looked at me the other day after waking up from her name and gave me a little smile. A few seconds later she said "I love you ten mama" . So lovely.

Enough about me!

Mitchell81 · 13/06/2010 21:03

Hi everyone, not been on for awhile but after DS1 having chicken pox whilst on holiday. Now DS2 and DD have chicken pox at the moment. So can't wait till they both start clearing up.

Willabywallaby · 13/06/2010 22:51

Was just going to post a 'how is everyone' since it's been so quiet. And there are things to read!

HM did you enjoy the football?!?

LM if you fancy meeting up when you 'down south' week after next we're usually milling about on a Monday and Friday (really would love to nose the lodge ). Message me on FB if you fancy. And well done for your early morning bike rides, I am in awe. I keep thinking I lust do a quick run before DH starts work on my days off, but it's all a daydream so far. Managed a few spin classes but still on the biscuits and wine, so must sort both big time.

MM hope your trip to Spain goes well despite the bathroom sharing. I have the feeling you feel the same about you SIL as I do with mine. Her DS would be great for my DS1 to go to ski school wit, but couldn't manage a holiday with them. So my MIL had 2 ski trips this year with Ski Famille, one with us and one with them. I think even she thinks a joint one would be a recipe for disaster on many levels.

Mitchel hope you had a good holiday despite the pox and the other 2 are coping ok. It's amazing your DD has managed to avoid it for this long. At least it's all over now. DS2 had it at 7 months (caught from his drama queen cousin at Christmas) so before he started nursery. I'm so smug when the notices go up at nursery when they have an outbreak and I don't have to worry.

baiyu hows work and the bump?

My bro had 2 bits of news the other day (hope I haven't bored you with this already but I have a terrible memory). First his wife is pregnant, due in November, which is lovely news since I overheard her at her hen do saying to a friend they would like to TTC. They've been married 2 years (when DS2 was 3 days old) so it's been a wait for them. And I've had to put up with my Mum going on about how she thinks my SIL is more career focused etc. I did manage to weedle out of my bro that it's not been straight forward, but they're very private about these things. I think she's had miscarriages, she's 38. And they've been paying for extra scans. My Mum called them a paranoid pair the other day and I had to bite my tongue not to say I think they have reason since he asked me not to say. MN doesn't count does it .

The second bit of news was she has a job in Boston (USA) which has been made for her by a previous boss. It's not really a surprise since that's where she was working when my bro met her, and he's been fed up with the economy etc here for years. It will start next March/April so at least she'll get some maternity leave. I't a shame mine won't get to see much of their cousin, but we only see them a few times a year at the moment.

But we're off to see them this weekend. They live in Central London, but a trip to Kew has been suggested or the Imperial War Museum. I was looking into the Giraffe restaurants.... Obviously my stomach is my number one priority.

Anyway, if I've missed anyone sorry, and how are you?

Must stop rambling and get to bed, otherwise I get a bit insomniacle, is that a word .

Oh, DS2's 2 year check tomorrow, will never forget DS1's when she didn't tell me it was at home not the surgery and I had a 9am appointment... Not concerned about DS2 but fed up with DS1 wearing a nappy at night and really want it gone before he starts school in September. So I'll be grilling her on that!

Night all

Harimo · 15/06/2010 05:23

Hey!

WW - good news about your brother! Giraffe got a good write up somewhere recently... CAn't remember where but it's supposed to be good and great for kids too. I can relate totally to being insomniacle! the night before last, I got around 25 minutes sleep. Last night, it was around 3 hours and that actually feels quite good

MM - Lovely to hear from you! Hope your house is sorted soon.

LM - Enjoy your holiday!! And the wedding!

Baiyu - How is your FIL now?

Sho - hope you enjoyed the camp!?

Well, I am living in the land of no sleep here at the moment. Had such a crap day yesterday... I got Haribo to sleep at 4:05am (His molars are coming through) and Mims woke up at 4:50am... so I was basically up the whole night... Then I was supposed to have an interview today (just for a work-from-home consultancy job) and it got cancelled because I'd had to rearrange the interview for childcare and I'm missing the dog loads. I took it all out on DH last night and put the phone down on him

Oh well... today will be better [Hopeful emoticon]

HM x

baiyu · 15/06/2010 21:50

Oh harimo hope things are brighter by the time you read this! Poor you.

I am absolutely knackered, DS had a really nasty D&V virus all weekend, today's the first healthy day since Friday after work. Had to phone NHS24 on Fri night as he was so pale and sick that it gave us the heebie-jeebies! Doing much better now but sleeping really badly. Not that that's unusual.

Today had breakfast at 5 and dinner at 9pm as that's how long it took me to settle DS, DH out with workmates. Ready to crash and hope to gawd I get a decent nights sleep.

willabywallaby Two year check? Is that with a HV or GP? I've never seen a HV down here so I don't know of I'm on their lists, though we're of course registered with GP etc so maybe automatic? Hmm, I never know about these things!

FIL doing better thanks all that asked, still very weak but stable.

Should have a new nephew or niece tomorrow! My lovely SIL is overdue and booked for an induction if curry and raspberry leaf tea don't set things off in time!

Looking forward to work on Thurs actually for a bit of a break, I get to sit down and everything! No idea how I'll cope with dynamo DS and his crap sleep problems when I'm any bigger than this!

Off to bed, eyes going fuzzy
