Hi girls, thought the old thread was in need of a spring clean, plus, I'm sure if my memory serves me right, one of us had our May-due baby in March (Macoco???) so someone is 2 soon....!

Just a quickie from me. Bayiu I've bought this lovely puzzle for dd and this one as she loves being on the bus. Pipoca might fancy a browse too - their bilingual section has loads of Spanish / English books and what looks like a great bilingual alphabet.

Lucky2010 · 05/05/2010 10:05

So, DD1 had to have the day off school yesterday after cricking her neck on the bloody trampoline. She's got all spasm in her neck and can't move her head.

LM - I agree with you about the trampoline... Hope DD1 is feeling better soon.

We've had a lovely day today... went to see the prep school.. I like it, but not sure DH will (But, Haribo loved it and that's what counts, right??) and then lunch with the GF of one of DH's best friends (does that make sense?!) - I think she will become a good friend. She is a lovely person, a great laugh, down to earth and cuddled Mims for the entire meal (leaving me to eat my lunch in peace )

MM - that puzzle looks lovely. Sadly, the only jigsaw I can get Haribo interested in is the Brio train tracks so that he can create ever more complicated tracks for the trains to race around . I'm counting on Mims to redress the balance!!!

Well, hoping for a better night here tonight.

Night all. xx

baiyu · 06/05/2010 21:16

WillabyWallaby I'm not actually sure what bike DS is getting, possibly PUKY? That's the only link my Dad sent me but he then asked me lots of questions and I've just left him to it! We'll just have to wait and see, he'll get it the wknd after his bday as my Dad, him GF, my sisters, my granny and my family are spending the weekend together in her wee house in Bath.

MM Puzzles look great. I ended up getting DS 2 from ELC which might not last him all that long learning wise but he gets such a kick out of completing things himself I don't mind, they were 18mo-3yrs so hopefully some fun still to be had (and they were half price ) Those and 2 lovely books from the charity shop and we're done.

harimo Feeling good thanks (though a v.epic day today so am exhausted), LO due 4th October or thereabouts so am 18 weeks I think, rubbish at keeping track this time! P&T going well thanks, esp. due to your fab accessories, will be superb when no.2 is here. DH due back Sunday lunchtime and then we have DS's party a couple of hours later, flight better not be delayed, I'll need him! Poor soul!

Lucky2010 · 09/05/2010 17:30

HI all,

Getting quiet on here.

Had an awesome night out last night, went to friends for dinner, MIL had the girls overnight. DH and I decided that by the time we paid for a cab home, we might aswell pay for a hotel room.....so we did . Got upgraded when we got there so had executive suite! Had a lazy morning then hit the shops for a bit on the way back to pick them up.

MIL felt it appropriate to keep the girls up til past 10pm last night . I know I shouldn't moan cos she did us a massive favour, and it was lovely, but I ask you....10pm??!!

Anyway, breaking news in the lucky household.....DD1, 4 next week, can ride her new big girls bike with pedals (i.e. not a balance bike) and it has NO stabilisers!!!!!! She's such a little star.

DD1's neck is much better than it was but still not right.

Hope you are all well, Sho your new pics of DD on FB are v v cute!

LM xx

Just wanted to say a quick hello.

Got back from hols late last night after it being touch and go if our plane would leave Majorca. Good to be home.

Think a balance bike will be on DS2's birthday list now! DS1 is 4.5 and he wouldn't be able to go without stabilisers, although I feel we should pad him up and try him out!

NCT NNS went ok in the end, only got rid of half my stuff and not really sorted the rest it's just been thrown back into boxes. I did make £41 though and I'm going to treat myself to a massage .

shonnomanom · 10/05/2010 09:16

WW glad you got back from your holiday ok

LM thats great about DD1 on her bike!

I realised yesterday when uploading photos for dd's birthday photo book that I hadnt put any on FB at all this year - shame on me

Not much been happening here. DP has managed to get some shift swaps so I can get the car for work. Il be soo glad when this month is over and we have 2 cars again! Iv been doing a 45min walk to work every day last week. Great practise for the 5k we'r doing next month. Dd loved it as most of the walk is along the canal so she saw loads of swans and ducks, we also saw a deer and an otter which was exciting.

Dd's hayfever has started early this year. I saw a thing on This Morning last week about hayfever, the doctor on there said that Springtime babies are more likely to develop hf then babies born in other seasons. Most definately true in my house. Both dd and dp are hayfever suffering May babies.

I had an interesting night out with dp's sisters and niece on Saturday night! It was his niece's 20th birthday and her mum had bought us all tickets to see a stripper show that was on at a local hotel.
We thought it would be Chippendale like stripping - keeping their pants on. Boy were we wrong!!!!
They never had any pants on!
The men spent most of the night dancing & running about the room naked except for some whipped cream that they were getting people to lick off of them.
We had attached some Happy Birthday balloons to my niece's chair so naturally they picked her quite alot! She was mortified!

Hope everyone is healthy and happy

harimo · 11/05/2010 07:17

Sho that sounds !! Not sure it would be my cuppa, to be honest - especially not with all the attention!! I'm sure you will laugh about it thou!!

LM - well done to DD1

WW - well done on the sale... My ebay stuff is going really well. I'm on first name terms with the post office staff!! Only had one annoying buyer so far - bought a rocking chair via Buy-It-Now and (a week later) has said she's not interested in buying it as she's 35weeks pregnant... of course, there is nothing I can do except try to get my fees back and relist Still, I'm going to list the last of the stuff today and it's quite cathartic!!

We spent the weekend in EuroDisney with the 4 kids. Had a lovely time. Mims LOVED the characters... couldn't get enough of them. Haribo wanted to like them, but got a bit freaked if they got too close... He gave a couple of them 'high fives' and I've never seen him pull his hand away so quickly!! MInd you, his favourite bit of the whole trip was the bloody train

Baiyu - happy birthday to your DS... how did the party go???

Well, best go... Haribo is singing to himself in his room so he will be up shortly and Mims is already here with me. Mind you, I'm not complaining!! 7.15 is such a civilised time to get out of bed!

Happy Tuesdays everyone!

Lucky2010 · 11/05/2010 21:20

Wow sho that sounds shocking!!!! I wouldn't have known where to look!!

HM your FB photos look great....we're planning to take the girls next year.

WW welcome back! I def think the balance bike has made the difference! DH videod her on his phone and sent it to me, it's hilarously like a Benny Hill sketch!!

EEk Sho Don't think I'd be brave enough for that!

LM Hooray on the bike riding! Glad we've gone for a balance, at least I assume my Dad is anyway.

willabywallaby Glad you got back ok. My DH was delayed a few hours coming back from America (so missed first hour and a half of birthday party) but not too bad considering. My Dad is due to fly from Portugal tomorrow for this big family wknd, not looking good .

Party went well, putting a few photies on FB at the mo. Real birthday today was nice and relaxed, playing with new toys then a wee birthday tea just the 3 of us when DH got in. Can't believe our babies are 2!

harimo · 12/05/2010 05:39

Baiyu so pleased your DH made it home for the party. Your cake-making skills are exemplary!!!! Very !! Harry is having a Thomas cake, but my doula (well, she isn't my doula anymore, but she was!!) is making it for him!!
Your veggie garden looks wonderful too...

LM - thanks again for cardigan... It's wonderful. Just realised I haven't paid you . can you text me your email addy and I will sort it today. Eurodisney was great fun but so expensive and the queues were beyond belief... (we had VIP fastpasses so bypassed them, but I can't see we would have gone on a single ride without them!!) The only things we bought we the photos from the rides, as they are lovely momentos of the kids...

We have a busy day tomorrow - Mims needs to get a modelling licence as she has a big job for the Times next week which will take her over the 4 days per month she is allowed to work without one. So, have to take all her paperwork to the county council to get it sorted!!

Well, my lovely daughter has deigned to go back to sleep so I will try to catch 40 winks too, before Haribo wakes up!!!

Night... err... morning...

shonnomanom · 13/05/2010 21:00

Oh I know, it was an experience I will never forget!!!

Glad your all having a fabulous birthday season!
Very at all the amazing looking birthday cakes. I hope they taste as lovely as they looked!

Iv been feeling horrible the last few days, got some sort of tummy bug
And iv just been reminded today that iv got an all day First Aid training day on Saturday - how could I forget that!

Hi guys!

Well, haribo is 2 today and the terrible twos seemed to kick in about 48 hours ago. That'll make me think twice about all those 'Oh, haribo is being such a good boy' comments . He has turned into a opinionated, stroppy monster!!

Dh took the day off on holiday, so we were supposed to go to see the model trains, but DH has been at work since 8am this morning . He has locked himself away and I've only seen him once when he came to see why Mims was crying. The 'plan B' was to take the kids out for pizza for lunch, but given there is still no sign of DH, it's now 11:30 and Haribo is getting tired and hungry, I think that will be scratched too...

Still, I took the kids down to the local train station (it's busy and on the west coast main line so has the fast virgin trains going through too) for breakfast.

Haribo loved it!!

Well, best get on!

Lucky2010 · 17/05/2010 13:17

Harimo hope your DH pulls his finger and actually spends some time with his son on his birthday . Happy Birthday H!!

DD1 is 4 today. Had a great Tinkerbell fairy party yesterday. I feel hungover today....!!!

Happy birthday H - hope your day improved HM and he had fun whatever happened.

Dd was 2 on Friday. Went to the farm she loves (dp took day off) then swimming and to park. 'Twas lovely. Then Saturday we had 40+ people to her party in the local park but I seem to have lost some of my necessity to be totally organised and was able to relax and we all really enjoyed it.

Dp flew off to Monaco yesterday at 3am so I took dd to my dad's for a party at lunchtime then mum's for a party in the afternoon. Great fun.

Knackered today though! And where the hell am I supposed to put all the presents? We sorted two bin bags of her "old" toys before her birthday to take to the charity shop and I've left some stuff at mum's but there is so much. How many teddies does one child need?

I have 4 coldsores on my mouth and 2 ulcers inside. It's so painful and really hard to keep them away from dd. I asked dp if he might be able to leave work a bit early today (he got home from Monaco at midnight and went into the office at 7) to help out. He came home half hour ago, looked at me and said "not that bad is it" then asked if I could put some washing on while I cooked dinner. . We are due a sit down talk after his comments the night before dd's birthday. I was busy arranging all her pressies, laying out a teddy bear's picnic, putting up her tent etc for when she woke up. He sat around drinking beer (he was a bit drunk anyway having had 4 pints on the way home with some "important colleagues") and complained that I'd bought the wrong muffins to make his favourite breakfast. I asked what special breakfast he was planning to make for me who'd actually given birth to dd and he kindly pointed out that he'd paid for all the food I'd bought and while we were at it dd's presents too. I am not amused.

Moan over. Sorry girls.

Got gardener coming to start our garden tomorrow, then kitchen people on Saturday and me and dd are going away with mum and sister on Sunday. Can't wait!

MM

Harimo · 18/05/2010 06:50

Ahh... thanks girls!!

We did have a lovely day, and it wasn't like DH really wanted to work, but I do get a bit frustrated that we're supposed to wait around for him. By the time DH was finished, Haribo was ready for his nap. We did take him out for pizza in the afternoon though (and left Mims with my parents so he got ALL the attention which was nice!)

Haribo didn't care in the slightest - he loves going to watch the trains and he loved being the centre of attention all afternoon... think it had more to do with my expectation / desire to take him 'somewhere special' on his birthday, IYSWIM.

MM - for you!! Hope you manage to have a talk. Enjoy your time away!!

Hope you are feeling better, Sho!

I'm having a very relaxing morning this morning - kids have been up since 5:30 but I have my parents here and both kids are sitting in their bed... Haribo is proudly showing off his steam book collection!!!

Have lovely tuesdays everyone!!

Sometimes I wonder if our men actually remember how much we do on a day to day basis for our families. And Im sure that they forget how important a childs birthday is! In my family, birthdays ahave always been a big deal, not in the over the top kinda waym but in the cake and presents etc. Dp's family dont celebrate birthdays, you get your presents(nearly always clothes) and a card and then its business as usual. NO CAKE! Dp found it difficult our first few years together.

Have checked the weather forecast for dd's bbq birthday and its so far so good. But im keeping my fingers crossed! We found out at the weekend that Dp's mum and step dad (more like sd) have decided that they are heading north to the caravan for the holiday weekend. Its just our fault that dd was born at the holiday weekend! Im not taking it personally because they do the same in October for their other GD. Hey Ho 3 less mouths to feed.

Iv been having a really tough tme at work recently. And luckily for you lovely ladies I dont have time to rant at the moment . Long story short, 2 7yos lashing out (not physically) at the lask of parental presence (sp?), He's not too bad but she would grounded for a month and lost all privledges if she were mine!!!

Need to dash, dd has stunk the house out and we need to get ready to lewave for work.
My mum is taking dd over night tonight, so after Brownies (we'r having a pyjama party!) Im having a quiet night in the house alone, probably asleep on the couch

Hi all,

Just writing to stop myself shaking. I just had the most horrid experience where I actually thought I'd lost Haribo

I have a car valet service every other Friday and they came this mornin g- I had totally forgotten they were coming and they caught me off guard.

So, I quickly opened the garage door (it's one of those that you just press a button for.. so all I have to do is open the kitchen door into the garage, press the button and come back into the kitchen..

So, I come back into the kitchen and go through to the front door to give the chap the car keys.. Have a quick chat (maybe a minute) and go back to the kitchen and NOP HARIBO... but the kitchen door through to the garage is open (and I know that the garage door is open...) cue FRANTIC behaviour on behalf of mummy . I am absolutely sure he's gone out of the garage, but I can't find him. I was panicking so badly .. Got back to the house and there is haribo standing out in the BACK garden (which is totally secure) playing with Thomas...

I am literally still shaking and crying. Poor old haribo is just looking bewildered and Mims has taken it all in her stride and gone to sleep.

Off for a VERY strong cuppa

HM x

Willabywallaby · 21/05/2010 16:12

That's scary HM, hope you feel better now.

I lost DS2 on the drive the other day, thought he'd gone inside and he hadn't. We live on a very busy road and he has no road sense, but few seconds later he appeared around the side of the car.

shonnomanom · 21/05/2010 21:25

Oh Crikey HM! Its a horrible feeling isnt it!! The best of it is the kids have no idea what has just happened. I hope your heart rate has returned to normalness again.

Dd is constantly running away, and if she's not getting her own way when we'r out, like at soft play, she tries to get an adult to go with her instead. It terrifying!! It almost makes me not want to go out. Its such a sickening feeling just thinking of them being lost.

Willabywallaby · 22/05/2010 11:56

DS2's birthday today! Not sure the other Mum's will be thanking me for indoor soft play on a day like today, but saves me the stress..

Have fun in the sun.

Harimo · 22/05/2010 12:25

Happy birthday WW's DS!!
