Afternoon all
Sorry filly no baby stuff here anymore
mixedmamma highgate woods in the half term sounds good
Yay LaT thats lovely. I miss being pregnant. Did I say that out loud
Took ds's for their swine flu jabs this morning. They were very brave. George cried for a few seconds and Edward said 'ouch, you hurt me!' The nurse said their arms will be sore and they might get a bit of a fever. I gave them both Calpol before their naps just in case..
Looks like well be getting more snow tonight. Have to do party food shopping in the morning.
Hope everyone is well and warm xx

LaTrucha · 08/01/2010 15:02

Fill I got mine cheap on ebay. If you hold out you can get a good price. They go for silly money but I think I got mine for around £25. Any sales around?

I am trying to wait about the pushchair but it is difficult as I'm not wild about wither of mine and I need a light foldy uppy one for Sabela. I'm going to try and carry it when S is walking. Crashed the Hauck twice yesterday when S fell over walking and I lost control of it. Any recommendations for light foldy one? CHEAP!

fillybuster · 08/01/2010 15:16

Not sure about this, but my mother suggested buying reins for Tamara...not to stop her running off (she doesn't) but to help her keep her balance when walking - would that help Sabela, LaT, and maybe resolve the buggy issue a bit?

LaTrucha · 08/01/2010 15:49

She has reins and they do help a bit. She quite likes them. The problem is that I don't drive and she can't possible make it into town, to where we need to go (playgroup, shops etc) walking.

mixedmamameansbusiness · 08/01/2010 16:08

I hate the idea of reins but then I also hated the idea of dummies and both DSs had them and DS2 still does unfortunately. If needs must.

JustKeepSparkling · 08/01/2010 18:20

I've used reins when they've suited/helped. Esp as T was a runner when younger.

Filly - I may have a BB you could have/borrow, the question is where is it?! I am due t go in the loft soon after I've done a big sort out of boys clothes so will look then and let you know?

H doing well again today:

  • banging 2 things together
  • steadier walking & standing
  • happy & settled into routine of after-lunch nap
  • really into chewing/sucking labels on things
(wondering about getting him a 'taggie' for his birthday, anyone had one for their LO before?)

Only ideas for birthday here are a taggie possibly and maybe the Upsy Daisy toy with the bed, otherwise it's money in his account and chocolate!
He has taken a fancy to After Eights....

Been out sledging with T today and some friends, then into the pub for hot chocolates, lovely

LaTrucha · 08/01/2010 18:43

JKS - it was a taggy book that Sabela used to put on her head while she slept. She didn't chew it though. They have nice taggy toys and things too.

JustKeepSparkling · 08/01/2010 21:11

Thanks LaT - i have ordered 2 (the same) taggie blankets off ebay (new ones) for his birthday, only £9 total which is good compared to some prices. Cute ones with Spot the Dog on too

And i am intrigued by the Fisher Price hedgehog toy:
here
anyone got one?

JustKeepSoddingSnowing · 08/01/2010 21:52
LaTrucha · 09/01/2010 09:35

It has as good a chance as any toy! He'll either love it or ignore it. I find there's very little predicting it. I thought Sabela would adore her Iggle Piggle but she completely blanks it.

LEt me know how the taggy blankets are. I've seen those on ebay and wondered.

Hollyoaks · 09/01/2010 10:24

Hi everyone

We have more snow this morning so it looks like sledging is on the cards for dd and dh.

For dd's birthday we're getting her a ride on motorbike from mothercare which come in pink and red. Her big cousin has one and she adores it and its very stable so unlikely to fall of (much).

simpson · 09/01/2010 16:46

Filly - I have got a baby carrier in loft too. Its only a cheap tesco one though but its not doing anything

Also got a baby bouncer (off door frame) if you want...

Hope everyone ok.

Sorry can't really catch up Not feeling too good here so looks like I have caught cold/sore throat off my mum.

And J is poorly too with high temp etc.

Typical it happens when I am not home

Internet a bit pants here and I made the mistake of letting my dad loose on my lap top yesterday eve and he has buggered it up and only its only started working now

Also heard my Grandmother has had mini stroke

It never rains but it pours

Good news is builders ahead of shedule and so should be home by thursday/friday next wk and my new bathroom is looking fab

JustKeepSoddingSnowing · 09/01/2010 20:01

Simps - crappy time for you Hope the house does get finished asap and it's all lovely for you to return to.

LaT - will do, the seller says she's posted them so hopefully we'll get them soon. think i'll give him one straight away in case he does like them, can't see the point in waiting tbh.

Holly - did they go sledging? DH took DS1 out in the garden for lots of fun earlier, then i went out with him to 'sweep the driveway' not sure why as it snowed again straight away

also - bad mum confession - shut T's hand in the back door earlier. he really cried - he hardly ever cries.
bad marks across 2 fingers.
i was nearly hysterical, dh calmed us all down and took him out in the garden in the snow anyway - might as well cool his hand out there as inside.
anyway he is fine, tiny red marks there this evening. think his mitten protected him.

i felt/feel bad though.

H doing lots of banging toys together, lots of mumumums, and general happiness.
even walked over to me sitting on the floor, climbed onto me, slobbered on kissed me, then laid on me
(he didn't really show signs of affection before surgery)

Hope everyone having good weekends

Lilyloo · 09/01/2010 20:08

JKS poor you and T am sure he has forgotten all about it now!

Simps fingers crossed it is finished asap am v [envy[ at you having new bathroom!

Thankfully managed to get L's party done , was freezing in the play area though but didn't seem to bother the kids.
Now have another two binbags full of presents May recycle some for future pressies (coughs , is that really bad ? )
Am now thinking of getting M the new Peppa princess dvd , she got a little peppa soft toy off dp today. He a sucker for buying her things when she picks them up in a shop
No more snow here other than a few flurries this morning , apparantly more tom! My bf said that asda was like xmas eve this afternoon what is that all about ???

Hello to everyone else , do you all have lot's of snow then this eve ??

madmouse · 09/01/2010 22:50

JKS Nathan's hand slipped out of mine when I was taking his coat of and he fell back from standing on the back of his head - he wailed and sobbed for 10mins and we did give him some nurofen - he seems fine now

Gingeme - hope the birthday weekend went well? what presents did he get?

Mixedm - you too, did you end up having parties/seeing in-laws?

Madmouse - how's N now, ok i hope?

Lily - glad you managed to have your party, definitely re-gift anything you can, sounds like loads!!

We've had lots of snow, for here, not lots compared to the rest of the country, overall about 10cms or less. hoping we've finished now though, i've had enough and want life to get back to normal - whatever that might be!

H still doing brilliantly, dadada yesterday
and some definite copying of sounds, my dad arrived, so dh said, say hello grandad, and he made noises that sounded just like it! plus some 'fast' walking, nearly running.
and he backed down off the sofa for the first time since surgery last night - he's done lots of climbing up though!

Assessment tomorrow at the SN centre so interested to see what they think

madmouse · 11/01/2010 08:34

Morning

Happy birthday Ediz!!

JKS wow H is taking his progress seriously isn't he - fantastic!

Nathan's fine - no after effects from his tumble, well only psychological ones - mine

He very distinctly said 'daisy' to upsydaisy yesterday and something approaching pontypines too!!!! It's all in there - just needs to get out.

I'm nursing a sore jaw today which until late afternoon yesterday contained a badly damaged wisdom tooth. It kept breaking off whenever the surgeon had a grip on it so it took ages and was rather violent. Then the local anaestetic wore off before I even made it home so nurofen could not get a grip on the pain - so spent the evening lying down with my face on a hot wheat bag and going to bed at 9.30. Now off to pluck up the courage for breakfast!!!

AngeChica · 11/01/2010 08:42

excellent JKS especially the cuddles. He'll probably overtake A soon on the words front .

Unexpected "day off" today ... childminder is sick (first time in over a year I think - she is v reliable) so am at slight loss as to what to do.

Lots of thawing yesterday on snow front.

AngeChica · 11/01/2010 08:43

madmouse. You needed them to prescribe you some Voltarol - that's waht they gave me after wisdom extraction.

madmouse · 11/01/2010 08:49

Ange thanks - they told me to take a dose of my normal pain killers as soon as possible and keep dosed up. But by the the time I had waited for dh to drive to hospital to pick me up and we had driven home the local anaestetic had worn off.

I know voltarol, had one dose after Nathan's birth, but ok now just sore - just one nurofen doing the trick.

fillybuster · 11/01/2010 10:15

Wow...so many birthdays already! Happy birthday George and Ediz and so pleased L's party went well, Lily

Still got to sort out Tamaras...we keep forgetting to actually invite anyone so at this rate it will be just us, no presents (still can't think of anything) and a birthday cake. I don't think she'll care until she's about 15 and sees the video footage of ds's fun-packed 2nd birthday and asks what happened to hers....

More snow here...very bored of it now. Thankfully ds' school has mostly stayed open

Simpson - gosh, it really does come in waves, doesn't it? Hope your gran is ok....and fingers crossed you can move back home soon! Baby carrier might be great - going to ask around my local rl friends first in case someone on my street has a spare, but otherwise will take you up on it - thanks We have 2 door bouncers and no doors that they can fit on, which is utterly pants!!!

MM & JKS - I know that guilty feeling so well I didn't realise Tamara had her hand inside the hing-ey bit of our bedroom door and went to shut it...she screamed!!! I felt so bad, even though after a few minutes cold water it really didn't seem to bother her.

MM - hope the tooth starts feeling better soon. Voltarol is the same family as ibruprofen, and has the same effect (when not pg I take it daily for arthritis)- if the tooth gets really bad you need some co-codamol or co-dydramol

JKS - hurrah for H's development, this all sounds brilliant. Let us know what the SN people say

OK, had better do some work now....

gingeme · 11/01/2010 13:46

Happy Birthday Ediz
Georges birthday was lovely. He just loves the Mickey Mouse ride on car we got him. He got a little wooden chair off my parents with his name on it. Books, clothes, duplo, puzzles and chocolate. He did well.
Snow is wet ans melty here but have just heard we are to get a bit more Wednesday [angy] so fed up with it now.
jks
ouch madmouse hopt you recover quickly.
No lillyloo thats isnt bad. I was saying to DH we need to have another clear out....
We have decided to see how George gets on at Edwards pre school. Just a Wednesday and Thursday as he goes to playgroups Tues and Friday. Will let you know how he is at being without Mummy and Daddy....x

Lilyloo · 11/01/2010 14:02

Happy Birthday to George for yesterday and Ediz today!!

JKS that is fantastic news

Gingeme wow big boy. I have M name down at pre school but may wait until Sept before accepting a place , not sure i ready to let her go yet [blush

MM ouch sounds very painful hope it feels better soon

Ouch to all the injuries too

Ange the melthing snow is worse i think than the fresh stuff, very depressing. Is A still not saying much then ?

Filly still nothing organised for M birthday yet either. Won't be able to have tea party as too much snow. May take her to the aquarium i think.

Still bloody snowing here [fedup emotion]
Made it to asda earlier after walking M and the sledge down to the car. Then drove very scarily up the back road to our house , slightly less steep than the front. Stupid really but couldn't face having to walk up the hill with 6 bags of shoppping and M!!
Then brought all shopping in and went back out to take car back to main road. Took me nearly 3 hours to do what takes an hour normally at the most!!
Will it ever stop ????????
