I also gave her my old mobile which she ADORES.

simpson · 07/01/2010 16:54

M likes whatever J is currently playing with

She loves anything to do with Peppa Pig, play doh, her little handbag which is full of tat, drawing and her dolly things ie pram, dolls highchair, cot etc.

Lilyloo · 07/01/2010 18:51

Well caved in today and bought some hideous shoes from ebay as no chance of going shopping in this weather and need them here for wed. they will be for dressing up only !!
Tick every box for L , pink , sparkly , heels and ankle straps.... she will be very happy and cheap birthday present that won't take up much room is good by me. Filly Suri has nothing on L Thanks for your help LaT!!

Had a bit of a panic r/e party when i called to confirm numbers and got answer phone mes saying they had been shut since Sunday Left him an email and he rung back and it's still on if we don't get anymore snow (more forecast this weekend ) fingers crossed.

Gingeme M still will not have anything to do with bunk bed. She will sit on it to have story with L but as soon as she thinks we are going out of the room she gets up and comes into our room and gets in her cot. The cot is definately coming down when we go to Oz as she is having a real bed there.

Simps we need to get another sledge as ours cracked bringing all our food shop home in it. Would love a wooden one!

LaTrucha · 07/01/2010 19:10

They could be MUCH worse Lilyloo. I think LelliKelly shoes are far more hideous.

JustKeepSparkling · 07/01/2010 19:18

Coming from a non pink house they are fine Lily
And she will love them and that's all that really matters! Hope the post still works where you are????

All good here today

H managed a few 'mamamama' noises tonight
(Ok so not Mumum in any directed way but still.)
Otherwise, his walking has got steadier even today, so i would safely say he's back to pre-op in every way except better

Had a looong nap (4hrs) today and was tired and grumpy this evening so went back to bed at 6.30. oh well still needs his sleep i guess.
Both boys were up just before 6 today, niiice.

T was in a bed about 18mo, and H loves climbing into T's bed and lying down, kicking his legs.
But no chance, yet.
(anyway we don't have a bed for him yet!)

Otherwise, DH home later hopefully, then he can take over this weekend, my Mum still here (has been mostly helpful on balance), my Dad is due here on Sat (by train) so they can both drive home together on Sun (my Dad left their car here).
All weather-dependent of course....

Sorry, have read and forgotten

gingeme · 07/01/2010 19:30

Not doing too bad re snow thanks filly.
Looking at those soes reminds me again why I love having boys
George and Edward are having their swine flu jabs tomorrow am. Just hope who goes first doesnt cry too much and upset/scare the other one too uch iyswim? I think Edward will have to go first. Davids school is shut again but our usual Friday playgroup is open so well take all 3 boys there after the gp's.
p.s if LelliKellys were about when I was little I know for a fact I would have asked my Nan for a pair and she would have bought them for me spoilt me rotten she did. Love you Nan xx

madmouse · 07/01/2010 19:34

Hi all

re birthday, I have so far managed to find Nathan an ITNG puzzle kind of toy and asked his godmother to buy him a nice smart top he can wear to a party. The boy doesn't NEED anything else and I hate the idea of flooding him with toys.

Have made a big and terrifying decision - yesterday I have spoken to a nice lady from the Dutch government advice agency on child abuse and she has explained what would happen if I pressed charges against my teacher. (Hey ho forget I was trained in criminal law in Holland - it is a tad different from where I am standing). She said I am entiled to an exploratory talk with a specialist police officer before deciding to press charges or not. I don't want to - I know a little bit too well that a trial would probably retraumatise me but I am so worried that he is still at it and still abusing young children. So next time we are in Holland (probably end of Feb) I will see if I can arrange such a talk. The big question is still whether to tell my dad...

nicky6 · 07/01/2010 19:50

hi there just a quickie as all still knackered here - although both slept through last night woohoo.

One of charlie's fave pressies from christmas - tip off from friends of mine with kids bit older than charlie - Mr Potato head bucket its a daddy, mummy and baby with loads of bits all in abucket to store it all - the disney store are seling it for 12 quid unlike everywhere else selling it for 30!!

LaTrucha · 07/01/2010 19:51

This is the piano book I was trying to describe that Sabela is obsessed with. Not my choice!

Madmouse - that's a brave step. It was the fear of others being abused that led my friend to confront her father - although she didn't press charges. At the very least, you will have explored it as an option for yourself.

AngeChica · 07/01/2010 20:41

Hey Hollyoaks... another 29 Jan baby! How northerly are you? I'm in Northumberland (hopeful emoticon). The most northerly since MrsMc left Scotland I think?

We tried to take DS out to the woods today in the snow but he really didn't like walking in it! Even cadbury Buttons bribery did not work .

DH back in school tomorrow and is pinching my car as the motor has gone on his wipers. I could do with a sledge - little lord Alek would prob enjoy being pulled along to the shops in one!

LaTrucha · 07/01/2010 20:56

Thanks for reassurance Filly!

So, at leat two of you have a two and a half year gap. So, did you need a double buggy?

Ange - a sled may be the answer to my pushcahir woes!

Hollyoaks · 08/01/2010 00:04

Ange - I'm northumberland too, did you have your ds(?) in Wansbeck?

fillybuster · 08/01/2010 10:28

Thanks for all the present suggestions, problem is that we have most of those things because ds is 4.5 and T has been playing with his playdo, torch, connect 4, piano etc etc for ages now. I know she'd love a shopping trolley but I'd prefer to avoid anything large as it will have to live in our living room and Tamara is going to be moving into ds' room in about 2 months time so my aim is to reduce, not increase, the amount of toys lying around. Ugh...will have to think of something...

Went to toysrus to buy a sledge last night and of course they've totally sold out. Annoying as I would love to take the kids out on somethng over the weekend as there's loads more snow on the way.

LaT - we were given a phil and ted 2nd hand (yes, very lucky ) and it has been useful but only for really long walks - the rest of the time I just got ds to walk or use his scooter and by 2.5 most toddlers can go quite a long way as long as they're not getting too bored! We got a buggy board for the bugaboo as well but didn't use it much as its really hard to push a buggy with a board on...you end up tripping over it, or having to stand almost sideways to push. I've seen quite a few double buggies on offer on freecycle around London, so maybe worth checking out in your area?

LaTrucha · 08/01/2010 10:29

Morning - Felt LO move for the first time last night. Exactly the same timing as Sabela - 15 weeks. Yummy.

AngeChica · 08/01/2010 10:35

Yeah I did!!! Do I know you? we must have been in on the same day! I had a CS on the morning of 29 having been in for 3 days already - failed induction. My DS was 15 days late weighing 10 lb 14 and all the nurses kept coming to look at the giant baby... So I was there 6 nights in all!

Did you know Wansbeck is supposed to be one of the best hospitals in the whole country for maternity services?

Coffee sometime? There are not many MNetters in the north east I don't think!

right am off to shops - going to try and go with DS on his tricycle as DH has gone to school with buggy in boot of car...

Hollyoaks · 08/01/2010 10:48

Ange - I'm sure I remember hearing about the giant baby when I was in, hope that doesn't sound rude. I had dd naturally but not till 8pm so didnt come onto the ward till late that night. That was the Tuesday and stayed in till the Thursday lunchtime.

I've had lots of experience of Wansbeck since having dd, all of it very good. She was born via ventouse after getting distressed as the cord was round her neck twice and they were fabulous and got her out really quick. Since then my ds had a little boy prematurely at Wansbeck who didnt make it. Because of this we have done a lot of charity work to support their SCBU and to open up the Willow room on postnatal which is a room designed for bereaved parents. Because of all of this we know most of the midwives really well and I can't compliment them all highly enough.

Definately meet up for coffee at some point. Funnily enough I didnt think there were many of us but there is a thread currently in chat about just that and there are quite a lot of us. Found someone in Hexham and there are quite a few in Gateshead and Newcastle. I think they're arranging a meet-up in Newcastle at some point. Have a look.

mixedmamameansbusiness · 08/01/2010 12:49

Ahhh gutted saw there is a London meet up, but all Wednesdays - have uni on Wed. Next time ladies.

Going to catch up properly now.

mixedmamameansbusiness · 08/01/2010 13:25

Helloooo all,

LaT - love it that you remembered me I love the name Silvia if you both love it then go for it is what I say.

E also screams when we leave places (even nursery) but I just ignore it and pick him up (cue lots of wriggling and kicking of legs) he then continues to cry or moan in the pushchair but I just ignore and then he stops but it isnt easy as sometimes he really goes for it. Have no valuable advice i am afraid other than you are not alone.

Gingeme - We go to Highgate Woods. I will email my number on FB and maybe we can go together sometime, perhaps in the Feb half term.

Filly - in the nicest way about the night away, but well deserved i should imagine.

Lilly - I was thinking of taking some small party bags in to nursery for E and wondering what to put in them.

BTW I love the shoes. My GPs used to bring me a pair of slippers from Turkey every year that had a heal and i used to make loads of noise walking about in the kitchen, my mum said they had to stay at my GPs house.

Ange - I am hoping to take some mat leave within the next year, lets time it so we are on same AN thread... I am hoping this month has been successful so that will be September according to due date calculator.... Fingers crossed.

JKS - so great to read such positive reports on H.

MM- brave decision and I hope it does not cause you too much distress.

No real news here. Hoping to have my family round on Sunday for E bday, but apparently snow going to be at its worst on Sunday so not sure. Just some food and cake. Just bought him a Lightining McQueen rucksack as he is always stealing S but not sure what he is going to put in it. Was thinking might have to brave the ILs on Saturday to do some bday with them... but last week MIL pulled a prominent grey hair out of E's head so now am being all grudge holding... I hope it snows.

Can some one tell me what the biscuit icon is for?

Thats all folks.. hugs all round.

Oh and before I forget Hollyoaks, welcome. I have 2 DSs one 4 in Feb and one obv 2 on Monday. I have found it relatively easy going but DS1 is an incredibly laid back child, the only thing I didnt like was the whole double pushchair thing....hoping to avoid that next time.

LaTrucha · 08/01/2010 13:40

I think it's a 'nothing to say abou that' comment - in a disgusted or 'you're stupid' sort of way. Which double did you have?

Pushchair stalemate here. Reallywoundup leant me a really tiny foldy up one in very bright pink to see if this would be easier for me to manage when she's walking. DD loved the look of it. Sat in it. Ate a biscuit. Screamed when I started to take her out of the door.

So, I got her out, took off outdoor things and told her off along the lines of 'no pushchair, no outside'. Trying again this afternoon.

Tried ot get her to choose a new pushchair.

Which nippy foldy ones do you have? I'm thinking of a Silver Cross Fizz now. But I've thought of pretty much all of them over the last 24 hours.

LaTrucha · 08/01/2010 13:41

p.s. I want one I cna sling on my back if needs be.

fillybuster · 08/01/2010 13:58

Bit optimistic this, but do any of you (who aren't due in the next 6 months or so!) ladies have a leftover baby bjorn-type baby carrier I could borrow in the summer when dc3 arrives?

I'm useless at sling-type things (and a bit against them - you know me, very into my sleeping and feeding schedules etc!! ) but we borrowed a friends BB for Tamara and it was brilliant. (Un)Fortunately, they are expecting #2 at about the same time as flump is due to put in an appearance this summer so we have to return it. I suspect that trying to deal with 3 children at once will only increase my need/desire for an easy way to transport the baby on the school/nursery run etc.

Thanks...and sorry for asking but its been on my mind

LaT - the drawback with the phil and ted is the weight, the good thing is that its relatively narrow because they sit behind each other. From experience, pushing 2 buggies, even if one is v light, is a total nightmare...!

Mixedmama - lovely to see you again, sorry you can't make it to the meetup - next time! Happy birthday Ediz for this weekend And no, yanbu to be a bit at you mil for the grey hair moment...!

mixedmamameansbusiness · 08/01/2010 14:01

Ahhhh the biscuit now makes sense. ah it actually says no comment... if I only paid more attention.

we got given a one in front of the other one that friends used once... I had planned to use buggy board and sling depending on who needed to rest etc and I remember going to the MN meet up shortly after the LO were born with sling and pushchair and it worked well. But both my boys were quite big and the double was a pain to get up kerbs etc and my wrists really hurt from moving it around. BUT S was only 23 months whereas Sabela and the others will be 2.5 wont they I think they are 6 months that will make a difference.

mixedmamameansbusiness · 08/01/2010 14:03

ahhh filly... i cleared all our stuff out and gave our sling to the charity shop literally last month... bummer. I did love my BB and now realise that since we are planning no3 it was ridiculous of me to get rid of it.

AngeChica · 08/01/2010 14:11

Mixedmama I haven't even had my IUD taken out yet!

Thanks for the tip off re Newcastle meet Hollyoaks. Very sad for your (?)sister but what a lovely achievement . Yes everyone at Wansbeck were lovely especially the MW who took time to sit and chat with DH and me on the long dark night on the synto drip which didn't work! The only negative thing was the consultant (the female one) who kept sweeping in every time the MWs prepped me for a section and ordering me to have a variety of undignified procedures to "keep trying for the VB luvvie"... The Dr who delivered DS was gorgeous though (I might have been a bit loopy by then but I can still spot a good looking fella). I wonder if he's still there?

There's a Facebook group for this thread called "Mumsnetters due Jan 2008" or something, we don't really write on it but it is a good way to find a lot of us on FB.

LaT ave you tried her on a ride-on with a parent handle? DS loves going out on his trike. I have just taken him out and about on it, as it has chunky wheels and better on the snow than a buggy.

It's like this but we got it 2nd hand from a friend.

AngeChica · 08/01/2010 14:15

Doh sorry Lat is it a double buggy you are thinking about? I guess you could put the LO in a Baby Bjorn.

Alas Filly, DH Freecycled mine which I was a bit cross about actually.
