Lilyloo · 06/01/2010 15:11

Great news JKS in such a relatively short space of time too , you must be very pleased

I in Lancs and yes very very sick of it...

Hollyoaks · 06/01/2010 15:15

Hi all. Could I join your post-natal thread extremely late

DD is two on the 29th and #2 is due the 31st May. It would be nice to hear from other parents who are entering the world of the terrible twos [worried face].

LaTrucha · 06/01/2010 18:18

Hollyoaks - Of course you can. My DD - Sabela - has just turned two on the first. I'm expecting my second at the end of June. I just posted all about 'leaving the swings' tantrums. Did you see it?

Lily - that sounds a bit odd. Either the school is safe or not, no? Hope party works out.

JKS - It sounds like he's making fabulous progress. How are you feeling now?

Gingeme - did you have to do the school run. Nightmare. Yes, he found out becasue I told him . He didn't get cross. Think he's minding his p's and q's with me ATM.

Nicky - I am DREADING Sabela being able to parrot back to me. LOL though. Glad everyone seems on the mend.

Ange - So, how was work or did you get out of going?

We have spent the afternoon with DD putting all her clothes on and dancing around (for that me throwing her in the air and bouncing her up and down - loads of fun but potential concerned about shaking her! Was a bit She loved it though and kept squealing for more)to my hopelessly outdated record collection. She is currently wearing tights, two pairs of trousers, two dresses, two t'shirts, a vest, cardigan and jacket. She didn't want to stop there but I couldn't fit on. So far, she is refusing to take anything off!

So, what's in your record collection these days? I think even 'record collection' is probably totally wrong these days!

JustKeepSparkling · 06/01/2010 18:45

Hi Hollyoaks, welcome
(I have 2 DS's, DS1 is 3.5yrs, DS2 is 2 at the end of the month but we're not at terrible 2's for a while (I hope!) as he's developmentally behind).

LaT - 'record collection'?! lol
i have Sandi Thom in the car CD player at the mo, generally listen to the radio if i want music as i'm not with it enough to sort iphone/ipod out

Lily - We've got more snow! went out with T for a long fun play he didn't even mind me throwing snowballs at him!
only about 4cms when i tried to measure, so lots more due according to the BBC.

H's first proper bath with no shower cap, and after a squeal at the beginning he loved it
nice to finally wash his hair/head.

simpson · 06/01/2010 18:46

hi all

Am still here but internet access sporadic as am at my mum's while building work going on.

My house is a total mess and J was quite tearful about it when we went round to get some stuff the other day.

The old bath is in front garden and new loo in kitchen waiting to be put in.

M been suprisingly good actually

She has made me laugh as she calls her dressing gown "winter" because I always tell her "its winter you need yuour dressing gown on" and now she has started calling her cardigan "card i gown" LOL

Hollyoaks - my DD is on the 29th too and there are 2 others with same birthday. Looks like you will have same age gap as between my two

nicky6 · 06/01/2010 19:48

JKS wow what a change in so short a time you must be delighted.

LaTrucha · 06/01/2010 19:57

Back molars would be my guess. Soemtimes with teeth Sabela is just awake - not distressed really but unable to sleep. For houuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuurs.

gingeme · 06/01/2010 20:04

Hi Hollyoaks and welcome to the world of the 2 year olds George will be 2 on Sunday 10th. He is number 5 for me. I have 5 boys altogether Do you know the flavour of #2 ?
Wow JKS H is coming on realy well by the sounds of things. Good on him
What a nightmare Simpson. Do you get on ok with your Mum? How long do they estimate it all taking?
LaT phew at DH not being cross. Lol at dd putting all her clothes on at once. George is the complete opposite he loves to take all his off. We went to McDs today for a hot choc and I took his coat and hat off and he took his wellies off and nearly his trousers if I let him Mind you David was exactly the same. Bit different though as his birthday is in the spring.
Georges new word is 'move' and basicaly he says it to anyone or anything that gets in his way charming eh?

LaTrucha · 06/01/2010 20:06

Oh yes Gingeme - sometyimes it is all off here too.

Has everyone seen Naetha's birth announcement?

madmouse · 06/01/2010 20:20

Hi Hollyoaks welcome - never too late. Hope we don't feel to 'cliquey' - some of us have been chatting on here for a long time - but there's always space for others to join in and become part of the gang. My Nathan will be 2 on 1 Feb!

JKS even though we chat on fb too I can't get enough of the stories about H's recovery!!

Nicky Nathan teething still too - final canine on the way plus back molars. He's also been referred to speech and language (hmm so that's physio, portage (teacher) and then SALT - but hey all for the best )although his teacher struggled to tick the box on the referral form that best described him since he does listening, concentrating, communication, making his needs clear, pointing, has his own words for things, just no real words bar daddy and hello, had cucumber (!!) twice, mummy once...he keeps us on our toes. Oh and is not keen on snow!

LaTrucha · 06/01/2010 20:42

I've just been reading that thread about 2.5ish olds. Now I am really dreading having the new baby when she's 2.5ish!

Oh my, Simpson. Reassure me. NOW!

Lilyloo · 06/01/2010 20:46

Well you would think so LaT , school is open tom as they have made path on car park and into school. Still nightmare to traipse dc's all the way down the hill to main road and brave the drive to school but if they stay off now would be absence and can't really afford that with the Australia hol coming up!!
Love your story of S and lol at your 'record collection' i am so not tech and cannot believe we have a casette player so you make me feel better!

Simps sorry to hear it troubling J , is he back at school yet ?

Gingeme lol at George , M new word is 'it's fweezing' every time we open the front door or attempt to go out. Which is true i guess...

Madmouse good job Nathan doesn't live here then , although M not keen on it either (see above comment)

Nicky sounds a very tiring snot cough fest in your house , fingers crossed for the 7/7!

Hollyoaks welcome hope you feel at home very soon

Well had no ideas for L birthday pres either and she doesn't want to tell me as it won't be a surprise. Can't get out so online shopping and very few bargains to be found surprisingly. Then tonight she comes up with sparkly shoes with an ankle strap and heel just had discussion with dp should i get similair (compromise on ankle strap but no heel, cannot bear the thought of either) or get her what she wants? I guess i can say they are dressing up shoes ? Problems of having such a girly girl , will never have this with M that's for sure!!
I am def getting something Peppa for her she loves it !!!! Simps did you get M a laptop ? Does she like it ?

LaTrucha · 06/01/2010 21:06

Big birthday hits here are play doh with lots of bits, a Disney book that has a piano attached which you can play or get whole tunes, undressy rag doll, First Baby Annabel and ......

Connect 4!

They had one on sale for a pound in a local shop and she loves it. She spends hours putting them in and then making them crash down. And then throwing them until mummy takes it away

Thank goodness we got all these new toys just at snow time!

LaTrucha · 06/01/2010 21:07

Could you get away with something like this?

gingeme · 06/01/2010 21:15

No LAT will pop over to popped baby announcements now

simpson · 06/01/2010 21:30

lilyloo - M loves her Peppa pig lap top, its the best thing I have bought her TBH

LaT - you will be fine, honest... TBH J is a very good child so still in the dark a bit over age gap iyswim. Only thing that gets me down is the fighting and M has to do what J does all the time, even take her clothes off when J gets changed out of school uniform

but they adore each other and on car rides they are sometimes holding hands and M always asks for J as soon as she gets up. And spends all day asking when we are picking him up from school

simpson · 06/01/2010 21:53

forgot to say play doh and crayons/drawing a big hit also...

AngeChica · 06/01/2010 22:26

Snow bad up here now... took 90 mins to get to work today. They sent us home at 3pm and we all had to dig our cars out of the car park! DH's school closed today and tomorrow. So we can have a bonus chilled out family day tomorrow

had to take DS to docs again - he has post viral urticaria (hives) all over his body - doesn't seem to be bothering him too much but he had a temp this aft at the CMs. He has had this cough for 2 weeks now and I just wish he would hurry up and get better - not used to him being ill!

Music LaT, well we download lots of it via Limewire which is quite naughty I guess! Also have you used Spotify - free on demand music with minimal adverts! You know I'm a rock/indie chick, BUT recently Mumford and Sons album "Sigh No More" is my big favourite - kind of folky like Billy Bragg I guess.

Hollyoaks · 07/01/2010 09:20

Hi all, thanks for the welcome, looking forward to dd's 2nd birthday, she will be having her first bday party so very excited. Also think the connect 4 present is a fab idea, she loves filling boxes and bags and they emptying them again so this will be a new fasination.

Tantrums have begun with a vengeance but mostly a combination of ignoring her and the naughty spot seem to be keeping them to a minimum at the moment. Its very hard not to get stressed when shes having one though.

Gingeme - your son shares my birthday . Having 20 week scan on Tuesday but won't be finding out the sex, we had a surprise with dd so looking forward to another one.

Toys that have been a hit include dds pushchair and my first tinytears and her shopping trolley, food and till from the elc. Thats my favourite too as it scans the food and has a chip and pin machine.

Thanks for the invite to the meet-up in london but I'm very northerly (and skint) so won't be able to make it.

Lilyloo · 07/01/2010 12:12

LaT thanks for link but she wants 'real' shoes so doubt they would pass!

Holly how northerly ? I in Lancs!
A till was another idea for M as she usually plays with them in the shops.

Simps where is the laptop from ?
Also thinking of getting her an ITNG magna doodle.

Ange have fun in the snow , thankfully it's sunny here just need it all to melt.
Dc's back in school went with dp this morning as he going in late due to weather and my neighbour is going to collect them!

simpson · 07/01/2010 12:32

no school for J today

Not fun being stuck at my mum's with both kids and very few toys.

Wanted to get to my house today to see how work is going on but roads too icy to drive.

Hopefully my dad will take me tomorrow.

Took both kids out to the local shops on old wooden sledge that used to be mine when I was small

Lilyloo - got lap top from Wilkinsons. It was £20. But I think Argos sell it too

LaTrucha · 07/01/2010 13:23

They've got that laptop in our local Waterstones too.

Lilyloo- They've got a pair of pearly pink (sparkly?) shoes with kind of an ankle strap on shoesforkids in a 6. What size is she? In fact, theyve got a lot of very girly shoes on there ATM. You could show her the page in her size and ask her to choose. None of them are too horrendous from a parental point of view.

gingeme · 07/01/2010 13:40

Afternoon ladies
We have been to our local soft play centre. I was expecting it to be alot busier than it was tbh
Not alot happening here today.
ds3 and 4 sleep in bunk beds.ds4 on the bottom bunk. Every time they got to bed George runs and lays down on the bottom bunk. So I have put him for his nap in it. So far so good . If he carries on for a week we will put the ypddler bed together thats in the shed and put Edward in there Bye bye cot.....

fillybuster · 07/01/2010 14:00

Loads of snow in N London (how are you coping Gingeme?) so I had a brilliant day off yesterday building a snowman with A & T and generally messing about. Ari had school until 2.15 when they shut early, so I took Tamara up the road for a walk to the shops in her new wellies...her walking is brilliant, considering she's only been at it for a few weeks, but she's not very convinced about either the wellies or the snow and got quite cross about being made to walk. Going home was much better as I bribed her with mini-reeses-pieces ...well, only about 6 in total, but the demands of 'more ch'clit' was actually quite cute and a big improvement on 'carry me' whinging Hoping to get into ToyRUs to buy a plastic sledge tonight (my parents have 2 proper wooden ones but they are both in storage...boo!) so we can take the kids to hampstead heath at the weekend

Had to get into work in S London today which wasn't much fun (especially not getting to the station at my end) and I really wanted to bunk off and play with the kids.

Big sympathy Simpson - a few days at home in our own house is fine but I can imagine finding it difficult at your mums. But your house will be lovely when its finished!

Hollyoaks - welcome Never too late to join in...my daughter is also 2 on 29th and I'm due with #3 in mid June...looks like we're in for a busy summer!

JKS - yay! hurrah! and woohoo! so pleased that H is doing so well...keep on reporting the good news

MM - very amused that N is keeping you on your toes...and its great that he's getting so much support, even if its very time consuming.

Lily - shoes?! Am impressed! Maybe you should buddy her up with Suri Cruise

LaT - we've got exactly 2 yrs 5 months between our first 2 and will have the same gap again next time...its been great DS was immensely proud/protective of Tamara from as soon as she came home (we made him responsible for as much as poss, like showing her to visitors, telling them how to behave (ie be quiet!) and all that stuff - and of course she brought a brilliant present with her!)...they do argue a bit more now that T is so much more mobile but she gives as good as she gets (if not more!) and they adore each other...T is utterly lost when DS is out without her

I need some help for b-day presents for Tamara....all the 'obvious' stuff (and not-so-obvious, like connect4!) we've got already, mostly from ds....T has already got a dolls house, ds' old 'baby buggy' and a dolls crib (and about 4 dolls)....what can we get her? happy to buy some small stuff but absoltely no ideas...and limited storage space....help! [panic emoticon]

LaTrucha · 07/01/2010 16:17

DD loves mini keyboards there's a cheapie on sale in Argos This. We have it. It's fine and has volume control.

Does she have Play dough?

I was also thinking a torch would be good but didn't find one with different colours. They were all projector torches. You might have more luck, living in a place with actual shops.
