Thankyou

mixedmamameansbusiness · 02/02/2010 09:12

Hiya

I definitely agree... DS has just started a new room at nursery, will be moving to his big bed and will be potty training hopefully over summer so it is a lot to contend with. One step at a time.

Gingeme - how is the SW going. I have put on 1.5 stones since stopping my meetings, I have been massivley greedy and eating cos I feel like it rather than beacuse I am hungry. On saturday I stocked up some good alternatives like cereal bars and fruit and things so I dont reach for cakes. Have limited my points to what they should be and am having a really good week and not felt hungry or anything and still managing lots of snacking which is my downfall.

Hellloooo everyone.

fillybuster · 02/02/2010 11:47

Hi all, glad all the last of the January parties went well over the weekend

Had a nightmare week at work last week, so wasn't able to prepare for Tamara's birthday party at all. Dh and I decided to delay her 'birthday' until Sunday (party day) because we weren't able to spend time with her on the Friday. By Friday pm I hadn't done any baking, hadn't bought half her presents, hadn't planned for party at all but knew we had 14 kids and 22 adults coming on the Sunday. But it was going to be ok, cos I would just deal with it all on Saturday whilst dh looked after the kids, right?

Then dh was told at 5pm that he would need to work all weekend to help his team on a huge deal that needed to be closed on sunday pm.

Cue Filly bursting into tears...!!

Anyway...in the end it was fine. First my dps (who aren't always so great) atepped in and offered to get shopping/cover childcare/move furniture etc. Then dh agreed with a colleague that he didn't need to be in the office until 4pm saturday and would be allowed home for the party on Sunday. And, in the end, he was able to work from home over the weekend and avoid the office altogether....but oh! my stress levels!!

Party was lovely, cake turned out well (photos to follow!) although it took 3 hours to ice on saturday night and we managed to get all T's presents before Sunday. In the end we got her a tent-style 'playhouse' for indoors (will stick it in the garden in the summer but its not a solid wendy house), a pram for her dollies, a fairy outfit, a jigsaw and a huge barrel of playdo cutters and stuff from ds. Was very relieved we actually had some presents to give her!! She's also been given lots of baby-doll stuff (bottles, highchair etc) so hopefully she'll get the hang of the baby idea before the next one arrives in June

Simpson - I was absolutely flabbergasted reading your posts... just doesn't begin to cut it. I think you have handled the whole thing with a lot more grace and dignity than I could have mustered...well done and so glad for you that its over for now. So sorry you've had to deal with it at all tho...Hope M enjoys today...

Lily - for clearing out baby stuff, but at enjoying the new bed I think I'm going to feel the same way in 2 years time...in fact, that's partly why I'm having dc3 as I couldn't imagine not using all our stuff all over again, if that makes sense?

Holly - so for your friend, hope she's getting the support she needs

Ange /MM - good luck with the dummies Its true though, that you need to pick your battles at the moment, so don't stress about it if this isn't the right time to get rid of them...

IWST - Nathan's fb pics were so cute Glad the party was fun...amazing how much choas 14 kids can cause, isn't it?!

JKS - I love hearing about H's continuous development...I know its all small steps but its so great that its coming together so well

Nicky - British Museum is close to Coram Fields so that might work. Def on for 3rd march - its in my diary Looking forward to meeting noah

Gingeme - glad the weekend break was fun. I missed the story though - what happened to your dh's iphone?

Sorry to anyone I've missed...brain has gone to total preg mush today...

LaTrucha · 02/02/2010 12:29

Having a total non-day today. Sabela was up with teething alot last night and we have logistical problems today because I have my course and she is in creche - so we need to fit a sleep in at an unusual time.

Cue LaT giving up at 10.15am and collapsing with DD on her lap and boucing her to sleep on top of me and having a sleep myself - which was great but DD has woken up refusing lunch etc and not wanting to do anything but watch TV. Have given in but will now go and get self together to walk up the hill and pop in to friend's house before course starts in case she can offer DD anything like parenting!

It's definitely a 'good enough' day today.

gingeme · 02/02/2010 12:54

Wow filly if thats what your brain is like when its mushy glad to hear it all worked out in the end
re DH's phone he works on the London underground and has a big blue waterproof coat in which he keeps his iphone (his mistress!) he was in his canteen where they have a drinking fountain which has 2 spout one longer to fill there drinking bottles with. There was a lot of police action going on out of the window which he was looking at and in the mean time the longer spout had gone into his pocket and filled it up with water therefor wrecking his phone so he has been like a stroppy teenager since. Doesnt get his upgrade till July and it doesnt help that I got an iphone 3g a couple of weeks ago for my upgrade
I found George fast asleep on the bedroom floor last night. I thought he had stopped wandering at night. Fortunately he settled back in bed ok
His new word is 'koo' as in thankyou

JustKeepSwimming · 02/02/2010 15:28

LaT - those days are needed sometimes and how inconvenient about the party blowers!!

Filly - glad it all worked out in the end, stressful though!

I'm feeling better thanks, lots of people here seem to be going down with bugs so think there's lots going round.

Just found out that a little boy with IS (same as H) died at the weekend had pneumonia. There may have been lots else wrong with him too i don't know all the details.

Confirms my decision to get us all jabbed for SF, H just cannot cope with even a simple cold and it turns into a chest infection, so heaven knows how he would suffer with SF. 3 of us due to get jabs on Thurs.

Had a stressy trip to Asda with T after lunch, grr. he normally behaves fine there and we have a good time just the 2 of us.

And this morning I found Sing & Sign just too depressing. We started on some 'new' signs, including swing, and i remembered how much H used to sign swing desperately at the window whenever he saw the swing outside! and all the just 'too-perfect' little babies doing what they should got to me.
I nearly left partway through but it's hard to do that so i stayed.
But will give it a miss for a few weeks and see whether H would have more fun just playing at home.

Sorry feeling fed up. pmt + headache, etc.

have had tea & choc biscuits, so need to go and get H up and shake myself out of this mood.

LaTrucha · 02/02/2010 21:45

Sounds like a heavy day at your house too JKS. Hope you did manage to shake the mood. So sorry to hear about the little boy who died.

Big news here! Sabela is stating nursery TOMORROW! She's just going ot go for two mornings a week, but I went up today and the manager asked when I wanted her to start and me with my preg head said, 'Why not straight away?' Actually I have a dentist appointment tomorrow that I'll now have to cancel and my scan next week so not good timing but there you go.

I'm not fully sure it will be worth it as I have to get a bus there and back and she's only there for two and a half hours. It'll be better when DH can take her, which he should be able to sometimes in the future.

Feeling a bit guilty about paying someone to look after her but it's really just so she gets a balance of mummy and stimulation. She does love it there.

gingeme · 03/02/2010 12:08

Good one LaT Im sure it will be worth it in the end.
An eventful night had here. First Edward wakes with a wet bed at 10pm. I had just run DH a bath for him to get into when he gets in from work ,what a good wifey I am?, so I plonk Edward into it which he thought was great and had such a cheeky smile when Daddy caught him in his bath . Put him back into a nice clean bed. 11pm a little crying from George. He was half asleep in the middle of the bedroom floor again back to bed with him. 1.30am George again but in bed this time. Not sure why he was crying.
He has a rash on his face today that looks scarily like chicken pox. Still took him to pre school
Off to pick him up now.
Oh DH and I lost 1 1/2 lb this week. Shall try harder next week x

simpson · 03/02/2010 18:59

LaT - how did Sabela get on at playgroup?? M started on Monday and there were lots of tears when I left her and a few hissy fits with other kids over toys but she enjoyed it and says she wants to go back tomorrow

Gingeme - that is the one thing that puts me off putting M in big bed tbh is wondering if she is on the prowl round her room at 1 or 2am

JKS - have been feeling rather poorly myself today. Came on all of a sudden yesterday and spent most of last night awake with stomach pains, feeling sick etc. Hope you are feeling better by now..

Both my 2 had swine flu jab today with no effects so far

How about that poor little boy

Filly - glad party was ok in the end M very into baby stuff too dolls bottles, changing dolls clothes etc although obv. I do not have another LO on the way

Hi to everyone else

Hollyoaks - how awful for your friend

Lilyloo · 03/02/2010 20:35

Hey all more snow again here Car on road again and need to be at school early tom as it is school photos so taking M. Will be a stressful morning i think!

M had two year check today , refused to co operate although it was after lunch and we had been to toddler group this morning so think she was tired.

Filly sounds like a good party

JKS sounds like a pmt day , hope tom seems better!!

LaT great news on S starting pre school. Still waiting to hear about M.

Gingeme M doing a bit of getting up / down at bed time but doesn't get up in the night. 1 1/2lb is a good weightloss!!

Mixedm won't start the dummy here until we have done the potty training i think! Well done on the ww. I have lost 8lb now with SW.

Ange we have skype for sil , she has never met M but good that M 'knows' her when we go to Oz!

Simps hope you not coming down with anything again. Glad to ehar no ill affects with dc having SF jab , M and L booked theres for next week.

Iwill bless him with the balloon. That was still a big hit with M this time!!

mixedmamameansbusiness · 04/02/2010 09:13

Morning all...

JKS, your post has confirmed to me that S and E will be getting their SW jabs, have been faffing deciding whether to do it or not. your way and hope you are feeling better.

Lily - well done on the 8lb that is brilliant, I have had a really good week but yesterday I had to go and see a friend of my GP and they just fed me up but am hoping the fact that I have been good the rest of the week will make up for it... will see Saturday morning.

LaT - Congrats on the nursery, a little time away will good for both of you and also quite handy when you have the LO.

Hello to all.

LaTrucha · 04/02/2010 10:35

Hi all,

Sabela loves the nursery. She does cry for a minute on drop off/ pick up but always says she wants to go and has had fun.

The travelling is a drag, but I'm taking it as an experiment. If it doesn't work out we'll think again.

She's being very deliberately naughty at the moment. Yesterday, I gave her a glass of milk (which is unusual as I make her use a lidded cup as she is always naughty without a lid but I was washing up) she took it into the other room and put it on the table. Next thing I know she is running up and dragging me into the front room tellingme there's somehting wrong with the TV. What she had done was to get her washing up brush, dip it in the milk, paint hte TV but the really naughty thing was she was blaming it on her rabbit! Also, she KNOWS she is not allowed to touch the TV but was doing it constantly yesterday afternoon.

I'm not blaming nursery because I saw this phase coming over the last week but I feel I'm copnstantly haveing to tell off / ignore / distract and I'm not feeling like a pro at it. I like my fun baby! Can I have her back, please?

fillybuster · 04/02/2010 12:00

Just popping in to wave hello....feeling pretty groggy-pants-pregnancy today and sciatica killing so another here too!

JKS - DS and I had our SF jabs last week, T had hers this morning...be warned: DS and i both had horrendously sore left arms for a day or so afterwards. I felt like a really mean mummy as I had packed him straight off to school after, then driven to Bracknell. Cue me sitting in 3 hour meeting with utterly aching arm before long drive home feeling very guilty about ds!! Have told nanny to keep T dosed up on Calpol today after her jab!

LaT - wow at Sabela being at nursery I know what you mean about the behaviour...and its so frustrating because Tamara is utterly lovely in between being totally horrid...

Nicky - would it be possible to choose somewhere on the Northern line (or around Covent Gdn as I can walk from Leicester Sq) for our meet up? I can't deal with getting the buggy betwen train lines at the moment and Tamara is getting heavy! thanks

Gingeme - sounds like you're having action-packed nights at the moment!! Your poor dh, I felt really sorry for him as that's the sort of thing that I could so easily have done myself . Well done on the weight loss..keep it up

News here: have decided to stop toilet training for a bit as Tamara is just treating her pullups like a nappy, and is still refusing to tell us even after she has done a poo. So going to put the potties/pants away for a few weeks then try again...

willsurvivethis · 04/02/2010 12:12

Nathan had his sf jab yesterday late afternoon and was fine apart from screaming his head off.

He was happy this morning just clingy and I think he has a sore leg (where he had it)so he's had nurofen and is absolutely fine now

gingeme · 04/02/2010 13:39

Afternoon ladies.
Just thought I would pop by and let you know about Georges latest shinanigans(sp?)
DH was home about 6.30 last night which is a real rarity he bathed the boys and settled them all lovely in bed.
Sitting watching tv when about 11 we hear a big thump from the boys room. Silence then a big wail. Ran in to find George had fallen from the top bunk DH quickly scooped him up and took him to our room and layed him on the bed. Checked him over and calmed him down with cuddles. He has a large graze on his chin and on the end of his nose. Apart from that he was fine Kept him awake for about half hour just to make sure then back to bed he went. Phew. He woke about 6.30 crying because he woke up in the middle of the floor
How small do they make straight jackets?

mixedmamameansbusiness · 04/02/2010 13:49

Gingeme - I just KNOW that this is exactly how E will be, would nt be suprised if I found him in the bath or something. He is so good at just laying down and going to sleep at the moment that I just cant bear the thought of going back to putting him back all the time. But needs must and I cant avoid it forever just because I want to. Plus it means he really isnt a baby anymore but

LaTrucha · 04/02/2010 14:04

Ugh Filly, I know. I swing from being stunned at how delightful and lovel she is, to having to mentally talk myself down from seeing red.

This morning I put a nappy on which it turns out is now too small for her. Cue tears. I changed it. Did the tears stop? No. She wanted the next nappy changed (it was fine). Cue screaming banshee (and no this is not a sign for potty training - she's still terified of the potty )

Thank the lord they are delightful though, or really, what would we do?

I'm planning on keeping Sabela caged for as long as I can. She is sleeping well, and as far as that goes my mantra is, 'If she's sleeping LEAVE HER ALONE!' Can I ask why people are deciding to move to beds now? I know a lot of people do.

LaTrucha · 04/02/2010 14:05

Sorry, also meant to say Gingeme. And do you remember when we could swaddle them?

fillybuster · 04/02/2010 14:29

Gingeme...but funny, too I guess he'll figure out the bed thing eventually!

LaT - I would probably leave T in her cot for a bit longer out of choice but she's got some big changes coming before June, including having to move into her brother's room. So I want to move her into a bed in her own room first, to get used to it in the same environment, then move her + bed + toys and everything else into A's room in April once we've done the work we need to do to get it ready (need to remove a sink and replaster etc). Then, hopefully, we can get them used to sharing a room for a month or so before dc3 arrives....

mixedmamameansbusiness · 04/02/2010 14:31

LaT - E is really liking getting into his brothers bed and is just getting big for his cot, I mean he still fits fine, but I think he would like the independence.

simpson · 04/02/2010 15:36

LaT - am keeping M in cot as long as I can tbh and I did LOL when you said you were keeping sabela "caged in" as thats how I feel

Also the stair gate upstairs is a bit dodgy and don't want to be worrying about it overnight iyswim.

Feel a bit as I have spoken to M's playgroup about her dietry needs etc and they are now not going to serve toast to any of the kids there incase M eats one of the other childs iyswim.

Also it is a childs birthday there next thursday so they will be having birthday cake so need to find alternative for M without having to cook whole cake iyswim

Filly - how is T's physio going?? M has another session coming up on 9th Feb a am hoping we won't need to go so often as has got much better in the last month although stairs are a big problem still even with help from me.

JustKeepSwimming · 04/02/2010 18:34

Evening all

DH currently doing bath - H screaming again T being a PITA at the moment, totally belligerent and defiant, fun. So leaving DH to it!
I've been refereeing all afternoon.

I'm feeling better though, despite all that! Just had a down day/couple of days there.

LaT - don't feel guilty about nursery! just enjoy the time off the bus thing sounds a drag though.

G - well done on the continuing weight loss G is such a monkey! hopefully he'll have learnt from last night...maybe.

Lily - still got snow? it started again here the other day and i was just 'noooooo, go away!'

Nicky - hopefully that snotty teen will remember that one day in the future & feel bad....!

Mixedm - i got myself and said/thought it was today for the SF jabs, it's not for another 2 weeks. just have to hope we don't get it in the meantime!

Filly - thanks for the heads up re sore arms, the nurse has told me her arm hurt too so kind of expecting it now. hope you are feeling better soon.

Simps - that seems a tad excessive on the toast front don't you think? suppose while she's little it's easier for them to manage.

H not going into a bed for a while, though i'm looking forward to it to get the cot freed up! (not that i need it yet i hasten to add!!!!)
want to get the boys back in together first, not sure when, hoping H's sleep pattern settles down a bit and T gets out of this early morning phase he's back in

H doing well, met his HV again today, first time for her since pre-op, she was very impressed and we've agreed to do a Denver check in a few months and then maybe every few months to keep an 'official' papertrail of his development
Also met the manager of the portage workers and he is entitled to portage, the lady should ring us next week to discuss timings - she will come every week except when they organise groups of similar-needs kids and we can all meet up. Could be good for me to meet other local SN mums.

He is also needing a lot less sleep so we are waking him after 2hrs nap after lunch
he isn't entirely happy with that but plays etc and then goes to bed fine at 7ish. and sleeps through the night, he was waking and chatting a few times beforehand.
hoping he may even get down to 1 hr and then maybe even drop it - thinking of family days out by the summer!!!

right long enough, best get off here - going to collect a replacement fire station for T as his current 2nd hand one came without doors and he's been going on about it, so the other day (when he was being angelic) i bought a better one off ebay.
we are going to sell his current one (with bits) - with his agreement....will see how he takes that!

gingeme · 04/02/2010 21:14

I took George out of his cot basicaly because he would stand and shout at the top of his voice until someone ie me went and took him out.

JustKeepSwimming · 04/02/2010 21:25

G - how does it work at bedtimes/morning with all 3 together? does anyone disturb anyone else and what happens if they do?
