queenfee i started giving him breakfast last wed i think. i've found in this last week he's got in to a routine of a two hour nap about 8.30/9am ish then he has another 2 hour nap about 2pm, then goes to bed 6.30-6.30 (obviously up feeding many times before that!)

anyway was wanting ladies opinions please on xmas present for dd. i know she's a little young but my mum kept all our sylvanian family things from when i was little -some bits are about 20 years old!! anyway she gave dd the post office which she loves playing with, my mum is moving and clearing out, obviously she's not getting rid of these but was wondering for dd if to spruce them up and get some figures and stuff for her for xmas...she will get other bits too but we're quite strapped this year with me not working!! would wrap them up of course. was also going to put in to boxes and re-wrap dd's dino-run for ds as we kept everything from dd...again is this tight?? i dont see the point in buying things we dont need but want them to have stuff to open! i just think dd will love the sylvanian families but was very at the prices!!

Phoenix · 03/11/2009 17:16

Lydia - I started a thread asking if it was tight to give Noah ds1's old stuff. Everyone who answered said it was a good idea or they did it with there kids etc. We've got loads of ds1's old stuff that will be perfect for Noah We're just gonna buy him some clothes to go with them.

Just had Noah weighed, he's 17lb 3oz at just over 16wk. He's started going through the night without a bottle. He's not quite sleeping through completely but if he wakes up we can just put his dummy back in and he goes back to sleep

Phoenix · 03/11/2009 17:22

This is the thread not that many people answered.

QueenFee · 03/11/2009 20:33

recycling pressies -I would. Very eco friendly too . Sadly my baby stuff is still played with so I can't do that for Alfie

Alfie has this nasty cold and they still gave him his 3 jabs today poor wee mite think I am in for a bad night. He weighed 19lb 6! thats 8.8 kg so it's a good thing my car seat goes up to 13kg or he would be heading for a forward facing seat. Although the older DCs have broken the handle on it by leaning on it

xmas whats everyone buying for their DPs? I am at a loss for DH and don't want to spend much as we are broke as usual!

gemgem83 · 03/11/2009 20:52

hi everyone!! you probably dont remember me but i have been lost without my internet!!! now im back on and so happy great to read all your posts.

My DS is Lucas and he is 17 weeks old tomorrow.

Anyone else having problems with trying to get them to nap in the day? he only goes for about half an hour if im lucky!

xmas cant wait till xmas DS will be about 6 months and i have put away some great toys for him! so skint too but opened a xmas club in sept to pay them off

hope to keep in touch now feel like im intruding a bit now you all know each other so well

alibobble · 03/11/2009 21:26

other snot solutions! Also do the saline spray followed by snot sucker. Works a treat. But should also have shares in Karvol plugins though I think calpol do one too. they are fab and keep the air so they can breathe. Works amazingly in dd1's room as it's tiny. DD2 benefits too. Also still have her cot propped up on some books from last cold and never levelled it off as she seems to sleep better that way as snot drains away better! Link for Karvol vapouriser here

pg tests Am I the only one who's not had sex since dd2 arrived? Surely not?!

weaning dd2 has taken to food so well that it's difficult to limit her to 2 meals a day. try and give bf first then give puree etc. She wolf the stuff but is not as keen as dd1 was. seems keener on baby rice than dd1 ever was who missed it totally and went straight onto veg. the cheeky mare will only have it made with EBM tho! If I make it with formula she spits it out! no wonder she won't take a bottle! She gets very agitated if we are eating a meal and she hasn't got any. She's only 16 wks tomorrow but was trying to nick my fish and chips off my plate today! good job she can't grab properly or it'd've gone!

dh exams 2 done today, just one more then my life will be back to normal!

OP posts:
alibobble · 03/11/2009 21:28

oh yeah and when dh's exams over I can get hard line on the night waking. Am sure dd wants a cuddle not a proper feed. Will send dh in there with a bottle of water! It's getting daft now but haven't been able to leave her to settle as dh needs sleep for revision and exams. Bring it on!

gemgem welcome back, of course you are not intruding! The more the merrier! Can't help with the daytime nap i am afraid, Max is quite good during the day......not great at night though!

Re Xmas, i think it is great to recycle, especially the Sylvanian family stuff Lydia....its so expensive and you can put it in a lovely box with bows etc to make it look new. I kept dc's nice wooden toys (for the grandchildren lol as we didn't think we were having more!) and will be recycling it for Max. The other day i went to a sale and got him a leapfrog learn and groove music table for £5 and its immaculate. Will clean it and wrap it for him!

Went to fit mums today, bloody nora, think I will be sore tomorrow. loved it though so will go back.

I left Max with my babysitter for the first time tonight, as i took the 2 big ones to a bonfire / fireworks display. It was fab and i think it did us all good.

Have a good evening everyone xx

weaning i had to start weaning at 3 months, which did not go down well with the professionals but he loves it. he has 3 meals now.
i have this routine what do you think?

7am awake and milk

8am porrige

11am milk feed

12pm lunch

3pm milk feed

4pm dinner

7pm milk and bed

they say he will gradually cut down on the milk feeds himself? but i know he needs 500ml - 600ml of milk a day
he seems to really love the organix range but this is quite expensive so i tried hipp too and its great. i should really make my own but dont have time!!!

cold Lucas had a terrible cold for 2 weeks, he could not breathe!! but i used the calpol plug in, it worked great just the night light on it (which you cant turn off) is very bright!!! Also used babysnuffle which helped alot and nasel saline drops are good too.

activity thanks for nice welcome nice to know im not the only one all over the place with naps!! yeah its amazing what they can sleep through! guess they sleep when they want to. Just hate it when he gets over - tired!!

patchybob nice that max naps in day be great if i could master that one!
What is he like at night time then?

Have great day all x

alibobble · 04/11/2009 16:41

gemgem your routine sounds like mine except i have a bottle ebm 11pm from dh and a 4.30am feed aswell (boohiss)

teeth anyone bf finding it increasigly uncomfortable as the little blighters make their way to the surface? feel like I'm bruised which is bad considering a)it's not hurt since back at the start b) she won't take a bottle and c) still waiting to see dietician re lactose intolerance to see which formula to use if we cold turkey'd it. last trial was a colic disaster!

babyblue3 · 04/11/2009 17:21

Ali trust me... DH is going through a drought in terms of sex! LOL. No time and no energy. My excuse - 4 kids.

pressies Dont have that option here, as DD2 is playing with everything. We get a lot of our toys from my sisters' kids (who are spoilt rotten), so I dont feel right recycling the already recycled! LOL. Because I am not working, we already told the older 2 that Christmas would be cut back a little, which they are ok with.

feeding the night feeds are killing me! Marco is going through a growth spurt on top of already waking because he is too stuffy, so no sleep here. Will try the plug-ins, since they work a charm with the older DCs.At least that will solve ONE problem!

Am having a really rough day today DH left 3 hours early this morning to have breakfast with a co-worker, so I had to do some of the morning routine. DD2 has been a horror, climbing up on everything, going into the cupboards and fridge to find a snack, pulling out all her DVDs... and Marco has decided to skip his morning nap in favour of screaming the house down! I am sitting here in my nightgown waiting for DD2 to go for her nap so I can shower in peace knowing she isn't pulling apart my kitchen. Then to make it all worse, I received a call from DS1's teacher saying that she is having difficulties with him and that he is falling behind in his studies. Sigh... I am soooo stressed! The fact that I am looking around at an untidy home with laundry piled to the ceiling doesn't help either. I feel like I am drowning today!

Misspaella · 05/11/2009 12:06

Hi all
Ali and Baby ditto over here re sex (or lack of!) We have done the deed once since the baby was born. I have lost my mojo big time.

Baby hope your day got better.

Phoenix and Lydia I like the idea of recycled gifts. They LO's are at an age we can get away with it and if the stuff is in good condition why not? I may even start trawling through ebay for gifts.

I am feeling sorry for myself. I have mastitis again! I have been feeling really run down (even bruising easily etc) and a red lump on the right boob appeared yesterday followed by soaring temp (102F) and chills/aches. The lump is still there but has eased and my temp is now hovering at just over 100F so I must be getting better. I haven't done anything differently feeding wise or worn tight clothing/bra so can only assume my immune system is next to nothing. Should I be taking prenatal vitamins as bf? I thought it was a marketing ploy but maybe I need?

Weaning last night for the 1st time ever Tristan showed interest in our food. He tried to grab my carrot! Going to see if his interest for food continues. If so, I guess we will be adding solids to the mix.

Xmas gift ideas HELP. DH and I are doing only small gifts for each with a limit of £30. What can I get a man that is fussy re clothes and has no sporting hobbies.

Hope everyone is doing better.

Patchybob · 05/11/2009 13:55

Misspaella Poor you, hope you feeling a bit better....I do take the supplements, the pregnacare breastfeeding ones, sure they help. Just think of all the vitamins etc that you are losing while feeding.

Sex!? We hav only done it once aswell..although dh did say last night that if we didn't do it this weekend he was going on strike!! (I did ask what from but he didn't seem to know lol!!)

I saw my baby group friends today and one of them is pregnant!!!! Her baby is 5 months so will be 13 months when the baby is born! Wow! She is a bit freaked out as it wasn't planned.

gemgem my other 2 were great sleepers and actually Max isn;t that bad, just not as good as them. He sometimes goes through the night (he did last night) but most often wakes at about 5am, has a quick feed and then goes back to sleep, so I shouldn't complain.

Anyway, must get off here and go and ice a cake for school this afternoon or I will have cross children! xx

Gillyan · 05/11/2009 13:57

miss lol your hub sounds just like my fella!

pressies me and Si have agreed not to buy each other as we've booked this expensive hol for next yr and it needs paying for!

Go her another lamaze toy and I've bought the ew Baby Einstein Activity Centre - got it on Amazon halp price at £44.95 - should of been £90!!! Well chuffed. Thats it for her. If I had already had a baby einstein thing for Grace I would of wrapped it up and given it to Summer!

The kids won't know! I have so many of Graces old electronic toys that are all in such good condition so I think I'll def give them Summer on her first birthday, I'll buy some new stuff too!

bonfirenight hope everyone has a nice time, we're going to a frineds MIL's tonight and then Si's parents on sat, can't afford to go to a big one this yr, think we'll do it next yr instead.

weening still no weening here, she's totally not interested.

driving test I am getting really scared about it now, 5 wks to go! I can drive fine it's just the manouvers I'm scared of cocking up on! ARGGGHHHH!

JetLi · 06/11/2009 17:11

Hi all
DD still quite snuffly with this wretched cold. Sick babies are hard bloody work! She has ended up in bed with us three nights on the trot and she whinges all day. Very wearing, but whenever I get to the end of my tether I think about wollyjo and Niamh and pull myself together. She has screamed so hard today she has a gruff voice now I have however discovered that the raincover on the pram muffles the noise quite a bit Between the raincover and the traffic noise, I had quite a peaceful walk this afternoon!
Christmas presents - I think DP & I will do the same as Gillyan this year and not bother buying for each other. We did the same last year. He's so difficult to buy for that it can be a bit of a relief not to have to bother - isn't that awful? For DD I think I'm getting recycled stuff from the nephews. I think it's good to recycle toys (and other baby stuff). I got the Baby Einstein DVD box set off ebay so she'll probably have that as a pressie.
MissP - hope the mastitis has cleared up? I'm taking a general multivitamin (non-natal), mostly because I barely get time to eat anything at all during the day! My diet is truly shocking at the moment. I need to get a grip really and taking a tablet doesn't really cut it as any kind of substitute.
sex - we also haven't done the deed since DD came along and we're the ones supposed TTC (albeit not until after Christmas) I'm a bit scared of it hurting if I'm honest.
Really hoping DP get's his ass home on time this evening. He's been gone 12 to 14 hours a day all this week, and with DD being such hard work and poorly, I'm on my knees now & need a break

babyblue3 · 06/11/2009 22:54

Jetli sounds like your week is going as poorly as mine. Marco has been quite snuffly as well. He fusses a lot more, cries often and to top it all off, is going through the 3 month growth spurt, so he is eating more often as well. Its been hard. My DH works 12-8pm, so is out of the house by 11am and gets home around 8:30pm. By the time he gets home, the DCs are pretty much ready for bed. Its exhausting! The only break I get is first thing in the morning, and a couple hours at night. In that time, I try to go to the gym, do laundry, run errands.... sigh!

MissP How are you feeling? Hope your BBs are back to normal and you are not in pain anymore.

Christmas DH and I didnt exchange gifts last year as we decided to go on holidays, and this year, we are keeping it small since I am not making full wage. The DCs also know that their gifts will be fewer due to 'cut-backs'.

flu Getting really nervous about the swine flu. Its starting to pop up in my area. A 2 month old boy was on the news yesterday being the first baby to die of the illness. Considering I have 2 school age DCs, its scary to think what they may bring home. Am getting my 2 year old vaccinated next week, but the rest of us are not eligible yet. To make it worse, they are saying that Canada may run out of vaccines before everyone gets one. Sigh... So worried that Marco will fall ill. I long for the days when the only health concern was how far DD2 pushed the macaroni up her nose!

alibobble · 07/11/2009 16:20

swine flu I've got it. Hoping that dc and H doesn't go down with it. got number for tamiflu but told dh that 2 dayin bed better

Hi everyone, just a quickie for now. Noah also can't hold a teething ring yet so at the moment he's chewing on pudsey bears face . Ds1 gave it to him the other day and he wraps his arms round it and forces it to his mouth and chews on it.
