Hi thought I'd take the bull by the horns and start a new thread. Hope the weaning was covert enough! Fire away!

Chewing gum oh dear....what a mess that must have been?

Phoenix I am on my 3rd LO and I still don't remember what the hell we are supposed to do re weaning. I haven't started yet but did dangle a steamed carrot in front of Tristan and he just stared at it. I was hoping he would grab it so I could begin the process of solids. I guess it is just milk at crazy o clock again.

Food over shower always hence my mummy tummy.

Jetli I usually pump 5-10min in the morning and 10 min at night and can get about 6-8 oz that way. I do have a double pump so that really helps and I do it a few times a week and freeze. That way I always have a "stock". I am getting slightly bored of expressing and my freezer is getting full so once we hit 26 weeks will just offer formula if need be. How exciting you have a night out soon.

Well hope you all have a good evening.

Did someone ask who is on facebook I am on facebook although I am quite sad as I don't have many friends on there .

I cant believe there is a tooth. I thought dd was teething as she has been dribbling loads and gnawing at my boob ouch. Also she has a teething rash.

Christmas I can't wait to put the tree up I am one of those annoying people who round Christmas time people can only handle in small doses. Most people think I spend December permanently attached to a sherry bottle as I am so full of Christmas cheer.

Baptism I got ds done and will have to get dd done as the best school by me is the catholic one but I haven't been to church in ages.

I am going to Bristol Sunday to visit my uncle and do Christmas shopping.

alibobble · 19/11/2009 10:23

tooth wow that's amazing tho can feel dd's under the gums. not long now i suspect

baptism we do go to church regularly but didn't have dd1 baptised. want her to have chance to make her own choice when she's older. Had a dedication service for dd1 which has promises like baptism (ie promising to bring up in the faith) but no water sprinkling. Will prob do the same for dd2 so that they both have the same choices when they grow up. I was "dunked" (baptised) as an adult so would like my kids to have the chance to remember it and it be significant to them. We offer thanksgivings at church too. Is a nice way to get people together if you want to celebrate but don't want go for baptsim.

haircut just had mine done. got a lovely lady who comes to the house. £13 cut and blowdry and straighten. Feel fab which is good as I haven't left the house for 3 days with dd1's swine flu. Getting better now but was a scary few days with mega temperatures.

weaning/growthspurt while dd2 is on "3 meals a day" they are only a few spoons each time and she has been mega bf recently. must be the fabled 4mth spurt. well done to all you ebfing peeps. dd2 didn't go all night last night despite her food so who knows what would be happening with just bf! Yesterday went something like:

bf
breakfast
bf
sleep
bf
lunch
bf
sleep
bf
bf
nap
tea
bf
bath/dd1's bath
bf
10.30pm bottle

and still up at 6.15am rather than 7!

lydia just saw on facebook that your mean friend has started being nice!! Think she must know she upset you!!

I just took delivery of Max's tripp trapp high chair, just bought the chair as a friend has lent me the baby bits for it. I can't wait till he goes in it, hope DH can built it this weekend! Weaning still going well, although he still only sleeps through the night if he has banana!! Can I give him banana every night !

ali glad your hair is nice, you reminded me I must make an appointment to have mine done.

Anyway, Max sleeping so going to make the most of it and put my feet up!

Gillyan · 19/11/2009 20:09

slucshy I'm on facebook [email protected]

babyblue OMG at the chewing gum! Nightmare.

Had a really poorly Summer fo rthe last few days! She got a bad virus with red ears and noisy chest, horrid cough and snot that is just like a waterfall! So food has gone out the window and I've been struggling to get milk in her, bless she's been so ill! She is feeding better today though!

SWINE FLU VAC My mum rang me earlier to say on out local news they announced that all 6 months - 5 year old are going to get the vac and surgeries will be sending out notices next month. What are you guys planning on doing? Having the jab or not? Mum said a 5 yr old has died this week and there are many many between 6mt - 5 that in hopsital and very ill.

Christmas I love love love it to, got most of the kids stuff now and with DD1 being almost 4 it just gets more exciting every year now!

She has her first morning at the pre-school yesterday, it was great and she's going to love 'big school' opposed to her nursery! I got a little tear in my eye when she put the school sweatshirt on (sob)

JetLi · 19/11/2009 22:46

Hi all
Still waiting to be called for my swine flu jab - huge notices plastered all over my local surgery saying DO NOT ask any member of staff about swine flu vaccinations - receptionists, nurses, Doctors, none of them Apparently we'll be notified when necessary. They irritate the fuck out of me at that bloody surgery with their pissy attitude towards the patients. Grrrrr .
Anyway, yes I think I'll get DD vaccinated although going on babyblue's experiences I think I'll try to get me and her done a few days apart - if we both have a bad reaction at the same time, then it'd be a nightmare. I have never reacted to the regular flu vaccine, so I'd hope that bodes well for no reaction to the pig flu jab.

JetLi · 19/11/2009 22:47

Hope Summer is better soon Gillyan

lydiathetattooedlady · 20/11/2009 09:54

hi everyone! gillyan poor summer i hope she gets better soon!

swinefluvacc havent even thought about it! i dont know if dd would get it as she was diagnosed with swine flu and given tamiflu but im still not 100% sure thats what she had! anyway there is hand foot and mouth outbreak at the toddler group i usually go to eek! have been steering well clear!

weaning bill hates pureed cauliflower, i cant imagine why!! he doesnt seem to want to eat my lovely homemade veggi purees, pulls a face like someones just farted in his face, but i guess that is what they smell like!

xmas had to put an emergency call in santa yesterday as dd was being naughty AGAIN!

competitivemummy she is being nice although she made a comment about ginger kids, which was soooo the wrong thing to do when i have a red haired child and dp, plus one of the other ladies thier has a red haired baby! anyway i know why her dd sleeps...she's 16 weeks breast fed during the day but takes a whopping 9oz formula bottle and boob at bedtime! i dont think dd ever took that much in a bottle!

Slushy facebook im [email protected] profile pic is off dd in a saucy apron

right-o off to scoff some s!

lydiathetattooedlady · 20/11/2009 09:55

bloody hell how many typos!!

Phoenix · 20/11/2009 10:26

Facebook I'm on [email protected].

Swineflu vac I heard it on the news yesterday too. I've not really thought about it that much but it's like anything if you don't get it and they do get really ill with swine flu then how guilty would you feel?

Gillyan - Hope Summer gets better soon, poor thing . Is she still screaming?

Weaning Noah has only had fruity porridge and pureed carrot so far and he likes both. I'm going to do some more veg and some fruit next week.

I finally got my arse into gear and cleared the spare room enough to get Noah's cot in and get him out of our room. He will eventually go in with ds1 but at the moment i'm not sure ds1 could be trusted not to jump in his cot with him or something. It still looks like a junk room with a cot in but it's only a temporary step.

God is anyone watching Jeremy Kyle? That woman is disgusting , poor man. I don't know where they find most of the people that go on that show. But i can't help but watch it .

Gillyan · 20/11/2009 18:12

*phoenix8 the screaming seems to be under conrol at the moment thank god, well had a lot the last few days but I know it is just becuase she was ill and she did NOT want putting down. I can handle it when I know the reason. Anyway, thankfully she seems to of stopped it. She is taking a dummy a bit better to which helps.

weaning I remember making loads of combo's when Grace was little and she hated them all, so I am sticking to carrot, carrot and parsnip, sweet pot, carrot and sweet pot etc I tried her a while bacjk with a jar Cow & Gate Winter vegetables and it stank and she refused it, don't blame her!

Quiltedrose · 20/11/2009 22:01

Hi all hope you're all doing well, been following the progress with weaning - we have just started (Bea is 22 wks) and on day 3 it just 'clicked' and today she ate half a bowl (one of those multicoloured Ikea bowls) of baby rice mixed with formula and 2 large teaspoons of apple puree which looked like LOADS - no sign of wanting to cut the milk feeds down though.

If she's wolfing it down should I give her even more at tea time or should I add in solids at another meal, or should I go on to lumpy food???

swine flu not personally going to have vaccine or give the girls it, although it has been tested I do not trust a vaccine that has been made in a rush as you do not know what corners have been cut. If I had been at work I would have been able to have it by now as I work in a hospital but still wouldn't. In the vast majority of cases it is a mild illness and I am not sure if the incidence of complications is any worse than it is for normal seasonal flu.

lydiathetattooedlady · 20/11/2009 22:52

desperately need a rant!

was getting on the bus today with bill and dd, said to dd 'come on poppet get on the bus'

bus driver replied, 'never mind saying poppet, tell her hurry up carrot top'

i said how horrid it is to say that to which he replied 'you need to cut and dye it' referring to her hair!

im so cross he's called her a carrot top before and i let it slide but it has bugged me all day and has now left me feeling really upset for dd. she's 2 1/2 ffs. why does this man, and other people, think it is ok to make these comments. im so worried she's now going to be bullied for having what i think is the most beautiful hair! she has beautiful red ringlets, its like dolls hair, it makes me feel very

slushy06 · 21/11/2009 08:50

lydia dd has a slight red tinge but only under certain lights the rest of the time it is blonde. but I love red hair I think it is rare and absolutely stunning. Bus driver obviously narrow minded idiot. Make a complaint to the bus company.

Patchybob · 21/11/2009 08:54

Lydia you need to complain, that is a terrible thing to say to anyone, let alone a gorgeous little girl. Knob head.

Thats all for now, outraged on your behalf!!! xxx

Lydia My DH drives a public transit bus, and that kind of comment from him could get him in serious trouble. He needs to be on his best behaviour no matter how rotten the public is. I would complain to the bus company! What an ASS! Your beautiful little DD does not need to start hearing comments like that at such an early age. Nor should you be getting that kind of harrassment from that driver. Shameful!

Weaning So I started Marco on rice cereal last night. He was waking every 2 hours to eat and I was at the end of my rope... not to mention my nipples were starting to hurt from overuse! It took him a couple of small feeds to 'catch on', but it worked! Gave him a bowl before bed, plus a BF and he slept for 8 hours! Was heaven!

Sickly family So the DCs are all coughing AGAIN! I have not had my voice in over a week now. It feels like I have razor blades in my throat. Not to mention, every night I go to bed and sweat out a fever all night. I wake up soaked! When DH didnt believe how much I was sweating, I weighed myself before bed, and then first thing in the morning. I sweat out 2lbs in one night!! How insane is that?? Of course, I spend all night coughing, so I get no sleep and am totally knackered the next day. DH stayed home on Friday because I couldnt function enough to watch the babies. I am sick of being sick!!

Misspaella · 23/11/2009 10:35

Lydia that is awful. I would definitely complain. I don't understand the issue with red hair anyway. Where I grew up in California it was never something that was brought up. Hope you had a good weekend.

Gillyan how is Summer?

Baby Is the household better? And 8 hours sleep?!?! You're experience is steering me towards weaning. I crave some sleep.

Speaking of lack of sleep, it gave me ANOTHER F'IN* BOUT OF MASTITIS. This is the 4th one in 20 weeks. I am very p'd off. Same scenario seems to cause it. I get utterly exhausted I can't even move, I get DH to give a bottle of ebm so I can sleep for a few hours (skip just one feed) and next thing I know a red patch appears and flu-y symptoms. Thankfully it was not nearly as bad as the one I had a few weeks ago where my temp soared to 102.8F but still....being knocked for six again and painful boob feeding is not making me a happy person at all.

Christmas I LOVE IT and can't wait for the drinking and eating. YUM. We are having a lean xmas but will still enjoy it. I made my cake in Oct and have been feeding it booze so hopefully it will be boozy and moist by the 25th Dec. I have also just done some online shopping for the older DC's just today.

Off to do laundry. DS1 wet through his pull up and sheets to do AGAIN. Never ending.

slushy06 · 23/11/2009 19:52

DD and ds have another cold I am so worried she is going to end up in hospital again as it was only a little cold last time.

Tell me I am being silly please. I don't think ds will be to bad on this one as they don't seem to be coughing so that is something. I actually feel guilty because if I had it I could give antibodies but I don't.

QueenFee · 23/11/2009 22:49

Lydia very at the red hair thing - how ridiculous anyway how many people dye their hair red these day (including me a few weeks back ) Most of my family have red hair so highly likely to crop up in my offspring at some point. Definately complain - if people don't complain then things never change.

I'm on facebook Fiona Willetts Bennett slushy

JetLi · 24/11/2009 10:38

Also very on your behalf Lydia - what a wanker.
Hope you and yours are feeling better MissP and slushy - try not to worry slushy - hopefully everything will be fine. Ali how is your boob now after all that odd pain? Did you ever get to the bottom of it?
Had a nice albeit very wet and windy weekend in Scarborough, eating fish and chips and meandering around the shops and pubs. DP took yesterday off work so we finished off the weekend with a visit MIL who was her usual charming self. Took it upon herself to lecture me that I mustn't get bossy and mustn't push her son out now that I have the baby I always wanted!! She'd been reading some crap artical that Dads get their noses shoved out. To be far, DP waded straight in with a BIG rebuttal, which saved me from losing my rag. Gawd she gets on my tits nerves.

lydiathetattooedlady · 24/11/2009 11:36

Hi everyone, thank you for your support re: bus incident. letter has now been sent to the bus company, although what they'll do about i dont know.

baby hope you're feeling better, being ill with little ones is so crap!

gillyan hows summer doing now?

slushy dont know what to say really but i really hope both your dc get well soon. 'tis the seaon of coughs and colds!

missp mastitis ouch...have been lucky that ive never had it but there is still something wrong with my left nipple its killing me! thereseems to be a little lump on the left side of the actual nipple where the pain is. i suppose is hould go to the dr but he's really crap and they dont let you see another one here!

weaning bill is doing well, although have stopped giving him a lunch time meal as he didnt really want it i dont think?! have also started giving him a bottle of formula for bedtime at about 6.30. really didnt want to head down that route but he's been so much better. he's bizaarly started cluster feeding though?! the last 2 nights he's had 5oz gone down at 7-9 9-11 11-3 3-6, which still sounds like a lot but to me its heaven!

keep well everyone x

babyblue3 · 24/11/2009 16:54

Slushy Hope your DCs are well. Dont feel guilty, you can only do so much for them. Oh, and I am on FB - [email protected]

jetli your MIL sounds just as charming as mine!

missP how is the mastitus? Is it normal to have so many bouts of it in so little time??? I applaud you for sticking to the BF, as most would have given up after all you have been through. Your Christmas cake sounds YUM, btw . I bake a tonne of cookies to pack up and hand out to neighbours and friends. Spent 16 hours in the kitchen last year baking (and too nauseated to even try any of it... hows that for torture!).

Gilly how is Summer??

sickness Still cant shake this cough. Spend half the night coughing up a lung. The other evening, DH, Marco and I went grocery shopping, and I had to run out to the car because I was coughing to the point of vomiting. Not to mention, I was getting all sorts of looks from other shoppers thinking 'Great! Coughed on produce!!' The 2 LOs are now coughing as well... perfect! Not sure how much more I can take!

weaning Marco is doing very well. I give him a serving of rice cereal in the morning (about an hour after his first BF) and again before bed time (I BF about half an hour later and then he gets put down). He is sleeping much better and seems happier. He goes at least 5-6 hours, which is sooo much better that 3 hours! I still make sure that he does not miss the BF though, since I don't want my milk supply to suffer. The other good thing to come of him starting cereal, is his poo isnt as runny so it stays in the nappy instead of spreading up to his arm pits!!

Misspaella · 25/11/2009 06:36

jetli wow, what a MIL you have. I can't even fathom my MIL spkg to me in such a manner. It is a shame but thank f**k your DP stood by you from the start of her rant. Beware she doesn't start sticking her oar in the rearing of your LOL.

Baby I like the idea of passing biscuits for xmas. May do that instead of/as well as cards. UGH though making them last year. I can't wait to over eat this year to make up for all that vomming.

Re my mastitis yes it is very common to get it again and again once you have had it. Looking at the BFN website and feeding threads on MN looks like I have been given wrong type AB's twice now! My GP is useless.......typical.

Lydia how old is Bill again. Is it a growth spurt. Touch wood I think we re finally getting through ours. Since the beginning of the month Tristan has been feeding through the night AND clustering on the odd day but for the pass few days it is back to 2-4 hours between feeds AND he is sleeping from 10:30-5:30!! There is light at the end of this tunnel. Maybe it will be the same for Bill?

Coffee time.
Have a good morning all.

Patchybob · 25/11/2009 07:17

Hello everyone, up bright and early this morning! Max slept through last night (I swear that when ever he has banana for dinner he sleeps all the way through!!) so was up feeding him at 6.20 am and didn't think there was much point in going back to bed.

DH has man flu which is a real bummer as he is on leave this week and was supposed to a) be finishing the decorating he started in April and b) giving me a bloody break from it all! Looks like both are unlikley! I am going to go out with Max today and leave him to it!!

Do any of you notice your babies shaking all over when the are just about asleep. You know sometimes when we doze off we suddenly have a jerky arm movement (or is it just me and I am a freak!!) or something, well its like that but all over for about 10 seconds and then he stops. Its not every night, only when he has a bottle and it doesn't bother him. i was worried in the beginning that it was some kind of seizure, but I think it is more likley an immature reflex of something? Any ideas?

Lydia good for you writing your letter, what a knob that bloke is.

Baby hope you feeling better x

Gillyan hope you and yours are ok now x

Anyway thats me, have a good day everyone xx
