Hi thought I'd take the bull by the horns and start a new thread. Hope the weaning was covert enough! Fire away!

lydiathetattooedlady · 25/02/2010 19:56

hi everyone, thanks for your support, i will get my arse back down to the gps!

website we hope to have one soon, the local council are doing grants to set up your own website for free! i should get the papaer work through in next day or so.

knittednativity i have a knitted nativity pattern and can certainly do you one! i will dig out the pattern and try and put an image up to see if it is teh one you mean. alternatively if you look up jane greenhowes (i think thats her surname) nativity it should bring it up!

queenfee i feel bad as i made dp relocate here but now he may end up back where we started in manchester!

lady dont feel bad, my dd was and is still small-she's 3 in march and weighs 26lbs!

wetpatch lol, i make sure its on his side he he!

advice bit concerned about dd but wasnt sure if it warranted a trip to gp but, we have always had difficulty in getting her to eat, and its only now her and Bill ahve the same meals that i realise how little she eats. my sister even commented how she thought she looked like she was losing weight. Anyway my next concern is that despite being dry day and night for a year the past few days she has been having lots of accidents. today dp had her and apparently she was weeing every 30 min but still had accidents. i took her to the loo she ahd a big wee then ten minutes later wet herself, her trousers were soaked! was thiking bladder infection??

ladylush · 25/02/2010 21:06

Thanks for support alibobble ikwym but even though she appears healthy I still struggle to come to terms with the fact that she's small and isn't climbing up the centiles. I feel annoyed with myself cos I feel like a competitive mummy (which I'm not at all!)but I just wasn't ready for a teeny baby and we are all so big (me 5ft 10, dh 6ft 3, ds (5)in age 8 clothes). I guess I will just have to learn to accept it.

lydia as above! Was your dd prem? The weeing thing needs investigation imo - they can check for UTI at GP surgery. They are quite common in children. Has she had a temperature at all? Not sure what to advise re eating. Maybe chat with Health Visitor (depending on how good they are in your area)? They can refer on to dietician if necessary. But if she has always had a small appetite and is healthy, it's probably normal for her

QueenFee · 25/02/2010 21:48

lydia i agree uti's are really common get it checked (the dreaded trip to the gp i know)
lush your feelings re bf are perfectly understandable, you are still coming to terms with what was a huge shock at the time. A for her weight, to give you a confidence boost Fin was born on time and 8 lb 6 but lost weightnand centiles very quickly. He suffered tremendously with colic and was always pint sized, Alfie is wearing the clothes now he wore when he was 18 months. However he is now 3 1/2 and despite still not eating well he is fairly average sized in his class. Interestingly he grew quite a lot after we took him for cranial osteopathy.

Dh still not heard and now it's Cerys's turn to play up. I think they are all picking up on the stress of dh being out of work.

ladylush · 26/02/2010 09:33

Thanks queenfee What age was your ds when you took him for CO? We took dd when she was about 10 weeks old (for reflux). Just wondering whether it might be worth taking her again - maybe when she is a bit older (and I'm earning again!)

ladylush · 26/02/2010 09:34

hope your dh gets some good news soon

Maybe something to do with these flaming babies little darlings not sleeping .

I am reading the thread honestly just never find the time to post.

Noah still sleeps with me and we've given in trying to get him to sleep in the big cot again and got the travel cot back from my parents' so he goes up to bed at about 7.30 and sleeps for a few hours then when he wakes up i go to bed and put him in with me. A few hours might not sound like a lot but he did between 5 and 30 mins in the big cot. I've also started him having his naps in the pushchair instead of on me which is kind of working but he's only having half hour naps now but i hope persevering with it will help him nap longer and maybe help him sleep alone longer at night.

Sorry for the PND sufferers hope you all feel better soon.

I'm back at work in 3weeks (March 22nd) really dreading it

alibobble · 26/02/2010 21:19

lydia sounds just like a UTI to me. Hopefully you can get dd to the docs soon. ours is pretty good about seeing kids very quickly. the most -amusing- annoying thing is trying to get a 3yr old to wee into a pot which is what I had to do with Beth. She was dry just after 2 years but the UTI knocked her for 6. Then I got one not long after and I realised how shocking they can make you feel. Had repeated ones when PG with Rebecca. that might be contributing to current lack of appetite. Hope it gets sorted.

new thread good idea. Anyone wanna take the plunge?

activity we've got the teeth from hell here too tho not as bad as beth was. She had about 8 by now! Rebecca still only has 2 but it's not stopping her from eating pasta quills, bread sticks or plums! I can see the top ones are moving down and not suprised they are hurting as they look like big monster teeth. I have quite big front teeth so maybe they will be like mine. tbh can't wait for them to come through so she can bite her finger food a bit better. The spoon refusal continues but she is causing us all to be more healthy cos having to feed her lots of fruit/veg sticks etc so beth is eating more fruit as a result. She used to be really health and I'm not sure she knew what a biscuit was but now it's rather a different story so good to reclaim some ground.

Well I started writing this post an hour ago so here's hoping it's not going to lose it when I submit it!

Have any of the other babies not got any teeth cos Noah hasn't got any yet. Lewis had 4 by this age

babyblue4 · 27/02/2010 00:29

Well... Ended up with the D&V last night Good timing, in the sense that DH had just walked through the door from work, so he was able to do bedtime. I was hurling from 9:15pm until sometime around 3am. It took everything out of me... could barely hold the pail to my face at the end... sorr if TMI. Lost 4lbs in a matter of a few hours. Stayed in bed all day today. Its now 7:00pm and i have finally got out of bed for a quick change in scenery. Because DH went for his appointment early this morning, and I could not get out of bed, I had to keep DD1 home from school to help out with the babies. Can you imagine?? Feel like such a bad mummy putting that responsibility on a near 12-year-old. I promised her a mommy-daughter date very soon as a thank-you. She didnt even complain, bless her. Then when DH got home, she went to school for the afternoon. I have to say, he has been very good. Even told me he feels guilty for allowing me to get my tubes done when his procedure was so simple and relatively painless. He hasn't complained at all about having to run the household alone today in his 'condition'.

teeth Marco still only has 2, but is drooling uncontrolably. I'm sure more are on their way. Which ones come out next? He has the 2 bottom ones.

I agree... we need a new thread just dont have the brain for it right now. (Liked your idea for a title Phoenix)

Have read everyones post... to tired to catch up properly though. Hope everyone is doing well. Just had a piece of toast and a scoop of choc ice cream couldt resist... besides I need to get my strength back

Misspaella · 28/02/2010 08:31

teeth we have 5 in total and loads about to cut. Happy days....will do a proper post later.

JetLi · 28/02/2010 11:38

Teeth - none here Phoenix and no signs of them coming either. They're not on my radar at all to be honest - apparently I was 12 months before I got my first ones so I figure she's going to be like me in that respect.

baby - hope you're all feeling better in your house You should be very proud of your eldest

eating - pretty crap here TBH. I just keep plugging away with different things, but other than tomatoes and satsumas, she really ain't that interested. I copped for the stern HV again last time at clinic and she was banging on about weetabix and getting DP to feed her, and asking if I'd dropped any breast yet. It does worry me a little bit, but I figure she'll get the hang of it when she's ready. I hate going to that bloody baby clinic - I always cop for stern HV and she manages to make me feel like shit every time.

alibobble · 28/02/2010 17:03

hv ain't it always the way that when you need cheering up you get the nasty one? Ours are pretty good tho if you ring to make an appt you generally get a phonecall 2 weeks later!

teeth got 2 but the top first two making strides to appear. Nappies are atrocious at the moment! Someone asked what order they come in: bottom 2 then top 2 then combination of top and bottom remaining 2 then back ones then fangs.

OP posts:
ladylush · 28/02/2010 21:10

No teeth here yet either. Ds was much quicker getting his and didn't seem nearly as bothered before they emerged. dd has been uncomfortable for about 8 weeks now - dribbling, putting her hands in her mouth and anything else she can get her hands on (soft toys, our hands etc.). We are going to baby massage tomorrow and after her last jabs (next week) we are going swimming My bf just had a baby girl so looking forward to seeing her this week

QueenFee · 28/02/2010 23:09

lady fin was about 14 months and I took him for about 3 months inall. He had severe colic and had been seen by just about every peadiatrition etc in the area and no one could work it out basically just doped him up and left us too it he sreamed every night for 2 hours after every feed from the minute he was born. Within 6 weeks of CO he was sleeping through the night , if only i'd known earlier. Yes it's quite expensive but i would have paid good money as my marriage was starting to break down with the stress and lack of sleep.

HV mine is useless came to see me every week for the above 14 months and never once mentioned CO despite the fact her collegue had it done for her son and it helped, so she obviously never discussed it with her- so much for trying to help. TBH I makemy own decisions and then tell her what i've done yes it does get me a telling off but who cares.
newthread how about sleep deprevation is a form of torture
activity Alfie has a sleepsuit with a little rabbit called Sid on it and every time he has it on I think of you!

DH has been offered the job but he has to have another meeting to find out more info and we are feeling very about whether to take it or not as it would mean relocation. I have only lived here for 7 years but it's so home now and it's different somehow when you have kids at school and you would be taking away from their friends. The quality of like here (N Wales) is great and would be hard to match elsewhere.

Sorry my typing on some posts is terrile but usually post using my phone whilst feeding Alfie

Phoenix · 28/02/2010 23:16

I tried to put Noah in his cot awake tonight which very surpisingly went quite well initially. It took 25mins for him to eventually drop off. I put him down and left him and he cried soon after and i left him crying for a max. of 2mins (no idea how anyone does it for more than that) each time but ended up staying with him quite a while shushing and patting til he stopped crying then leaving him. He slept from 7.35pm to 10pm, waking once wanting his dummy. He got so upset and would not settle at all without me picking him up at that time so i gave in and brought him down. He's currently fast asleep on the sofa with me nowhere near him. So, like dh has just said, what the hell is the difference to him been in his cot???? I just don't know how to get him to sleep alone. I'm going to carry on putting him down awake and hope it gets better.

Lady - It seems like Noah has been teething since the day he was born but still no teeth. I bought a teething necklace for him and the drooling and biting has actually got better since he's been wearing it. I was scepticle about them working but it was dh and my mum that first said he was better with it.

ladylush · 01/03/2010 09:35

queenfee lol at ignoring HVs. I always make my own decisions wrt dd afterall I know her best. I usually ask their advice and take it into consideration but only use it to help me make a decision rather than always following it iyswim. I've been taking her to clinic every week to get weighed and I think they are sick of me now! So we've agreed I will go fortnightly from now on to "reduce my anxiety" aka give them a break from the neurotic mother with the prem baby Thanks for the info on CO. Might consider it when I go back to work.

Phoenix the teething necklace sounds good. Where do you get them from? I gave dd a teething biscuit the other day and she seemed to enjoy it though kept losing it (it's on a string which attaches to her button hole)and getting frustrated.

ladylush · 01/03/2010 09:39

Phoenix ds was like Noah. We tried everything but it seemed he just didn't like being alone. It's hard to get around that. I also feel that he was scared of the dark. We used to put him to sleep in a dark room (since they say babies are not scared of the dark). We noticed he got better once we left his door slightly ajar and I think that's because the landing light was on. dd is the opposite and puts her hands over her face if it's too light

Phoenix · 01/03/2010 10:22

Lady - I got Noah's teething necklace from Amazon but if you google it you'll find them elsewhere. They're not to chew on though, they are beads of amber which naturally calms and relaxes babies when worn against the skin. I had a face at first but i must admit he does seem better

ladylush · 01/03/2010 17:18

Ooh interesting.........will have a look.

Phoenix · 01/03/2010 20:04

10 minutes for Noah to go to sleep tonight

He also had his 7-9mth check with the HV today. His weight, height and head are all ok and he's doing everything he should be. He's 22lb 2oz, 72cm tall and his head is 46cm. He's 32wks and 3days old. She did say to make an appointment with the GP to check his hips though because she doesn't think his creases match up like they're meant to. She also couldn't find one of his testicles so said to mention that too. I did a quick check when i changed his nappy and also couldn't feel one but then when i checked again after his bath they were both there . I'll still mention it to the GP next week and will keep checking in case it decides to go AWOL again

babyblue4 · 01/03/2010 20:13

Hello all... feel so out of the loop Had a rough weekend and am back in bed AGAIN today with this stomach bug. Seemed to have hit me hardest At least I am not vomming today. Just have really bad stomache ache and cramps... almost feels like AF is getting ready to veer her ugly head for the first time. No appetite either... which really wasn't nice since I had 2 functions this weekend both in restaurants!

Teeth still waiting patiently. With the way Marco has been screaming at night, you'd think his entire mouth of teeth were coming at once. Although last night he gave us a break and woke up at 5am the first time, and then got up at 8:30am with me. Both times he just did a normal cry which was quite nice!

DH was a sweetheart and did some cooking for me today, so all I have to do is re-heat. The DCs have a school holiday today, so all are home (and helping with the LOs), so its been quite an easy day. Dare I say I havent had this much sleep in months??!! Sad to say that it takes an illness to get some rest!

Did everyone have a nice weekend? We tuned in to the Olympics whenever we could. Wish I could have been there. Both my work and DHs work had raffles to send people over to Vancouver to work for 2 weeks, but neither of us applied (because of the kids). My older DCs were sooo excited when we won the hockey game, they took the flag out into the street last night and were waving it at the corner. All the cars passing them were honking their horns in celebration. We ALL love our Hockey!! LOL

Anyway... off to bed again... hope everyone is doing well xx

ladylush · 02/03/2010 10:07

lol at errant testicles Suspect it's just a maturity thing but worth checking out with gp if it disappears again. Glad check went ok. Got dd's next week.

Patchybob · 02/03/2010 13:49

Baby hope you are feeling better. We watched lots of the olympics here too, the kids loved it. Can't wait till 2012 when its our turn. We will try to go to as many events as we can, depending on whether my mum will look after Max! (think he will still be a bit small)

Lydia that's the one, I think the kids will love them! Can you give me a rough idea of how much it will cost. Maybe facebook me the info xx Thanks so much xxx

Phoenix Max's creases don't match up either. My gp hardly paid any attention to it at all. As far as I know as long as they stand up happily when you are holding them they are ok? Thats what I was told?

Still no teeth here yet, the 2 big dc got them at 9 months so I think that is what Max will do?

We had a manic weekend. We had a fundraising event at school on saturday which I helped to organise so it was very busy, then 2 little friends for a sleep over. NEVER AGAIN!!!!! We got a takeway with their parents and made the mistake of drinking far too much wine! They left at midnight, the kids all woke at 3am (having fallen asleep at 11) and then finally at 5.30. We were shattered! We went to friends for lunch so it was nice to be looked after and have a meal cooked for us!

We are all full of illness again. Max and dd started it with colds at the end of last week and now dh, me and ds1 have it too. I am covered in a viral rash today which is nice but hopefully it means it is on the way out. DH away now till friday so I have to feel better! I have no choice!!!

ANyway hi to anyone I have missed xx
