Hi thought I'd take the bull by the horns and start a new thread. Hope the weaning was covert enough! Fire away!

Christiana hope dh gets something else soon. Will he get a decent package that might tide you over for a bit?

Christina I am so sorry to hear about your husbands job. What a terrible time for you both. Sending big virtual hugs xx

Well ds1 is off sick with tonsilitis. Took the poor little chap to the dr and she said it looked really very sore. I got her to look in my throat too as it is really sore and she said it is nothing in comparison to him. Poor chappie....and I had threatened him with going straight to school if she said there was nothing wrong with him!

DD was very cross that he was staying off today as she didn't feel great, but she was quite chirpy this morning. To top it all Max has been really fractious all day so I think he feels shitty too. Oh what a day!

Anyway I hope you are all ok. xx

JetLi · 03/03/2010 13:51

Big hugs christiana - hope you get some better news really soon I'd be worried sick too xxx

Hope everyone's OK - better dash and try to tempt the chabster with grilled salmon & a potato waffle. Catapult probably required to get any in!

Christiana I am sooo sorry!!! I know exactly how you feel as I was pg with Tristan when DH was made redundant 14months ago. It is horrible. Is he in a line of work that allows him to freelance? The plus about living in rented accommodation is that you will get your rent paid for. Unfortunately we are mortgage owners and when DH was let go we could not claim towards our housing for 13 weeks (used to be 36 weeks or something like that but due to the recession it was dropped). Thankfully we have scraped by with his freelance work but every week we still don't know what it will be like re work the following week. It's very hard. Pls try and keep your spirits up. I can only imagine the PND is not helping.

QF what are you going to do re locating?

I still don't believe that the recession is over personally.....I may even need to look for work at the end of the year. Cross that bridge when it comes, eh?

Patchy Blue sorry to hear that illnesses are still around. It is a nightmare the more children you have to be sick or have them sick. I almost had a breakdown when all my 3 were sick a few weeks ago. It was my lowest point EVER.

Lady Phoenix Ali Jetli Lydia how are you all doing?

Weaning is finally getting better. We do spoon feed cereal and yoghurts but other than that Tristan is doing a great job eating himself. He LOVES pasta spirals. He hasn't seemed to drop ANY BF though. He is 8 months tomorrow and on 3 meals a day + 5/6 BF a day/night. I have to admit I am getting BORED w/expressing now. He has 2 bottles a week of ebm but I don't know how much longer I can do. At the same time I need that break (2 out of 7 nights to leave one feed for daddy is not that much to ask) I am just tired.

Must get the dinner.
It. Just. Never. Ends.

Patchybob · 03/03/2010 18:04

MissP keep your chin up, you are doing a fab job with expressing. That said, if you did want to stop, 2 bottles a week of formula wouldn't do any harm. Max has a bottle of formula every bedtime and the rest is breast. Seems to work for us,although he isn't that interested in milk at the moment.

Max had 1/2 salmon fillet yesterday, I broke bits off and he hoovered it up as if there was no tomorrow! I suppose it flakes so well that it was easy for him to eat. Thoroughly recommend!

Anyway, bath time so must dash xx

Good Morning all

Christiana So sorry to hear of your situation. Hopefully DH can secure something soon. The PND can only be making you feel worse. Hopefully he will get some sort of compensation, even just to tide you over for a couple of months. Good luck

Patchy Can sooo sympathize with all the sick LOs. It seems like it is one thing after another this winter. We all just got over flu, and now DS1 is coughing! Tonsilitis cant be fun though.

Weaning Gave Marco a salmon/sweet potato/broccoli puree yesterday and he really fancied it. Hopefully this continues. I am trying not to buy jars, and am just mushing up what we are eating. But if it is too chunky, he chokes. As for the BF, he is still nursing at least 5 times per day. DH gives him a bottle once per night (formula). I dont have the time nor the urge to pump so I can give him EBM in the bottle. Just easier to use formula (which I got a huge deal on before he was born).

sleep Marco is on the third day of sleeping through the night!! He woke up just before 5am for his first feed after being put down at 11pm. He then went back down without a fuss til 7am. Since DH has been giving him his 5am feed, I have been able to sleep until at least 8. Thats 8 hours of relatively unbroken sleep!! I'll take it!! Especially considering I still feel drained from that bug I had.

standing So good thing I dropped the mattress in Marco's cot, because we went in to get him yesterday, and he was standing! He had managed to pull himself up to a stand all on his own!! At this rate, he will be running the marathon with me in May!! Of course, with all this movement comes trouble. I found he had pulled the lamp cord out of the wall, and has been putting all the little lint from the rug in his mouth. Ick! Was bad enough I had to sweep after every meal, now I have to make sure the room is hoovered every day as well

How is everyone else? Lydia, how is the shop? QF, any decisions made about relocating?

Had a good laugh over the 'errant testicles' Can relate! Sometimes Marco's entire penis goes missing The whole 'frightened turtle' thing (as my sis calls it) makes me laugh! Makes you wonder how men walk around with these things!! LOL

teeth Think I can see a tiny opening on Marco's upper gums now. Hopefully they will appear soon. He is still screaming blue murder during the day... apparently for nothing as it comes out of the blue. Hoping teeth is all it is. DD2 didn't start sprouting teeth until 7 months, so Marco is a little ahead of where she was.

lydiathetattooedlady · 03/03/2010 19:51

do all babies have this check up as we've not heard a peep from the hv?

patchy will have a look at the pattern and let you know, wont be much though as they're quite quick to knit!

christiana sorry about your dps job, their seems to be alot of us in that boat its so unfair

sleep bill is going down 6.30 ish with ojne wake up in the night. i had stopped giving him a bottle on hv advice, he was taking a while to get back to sleep when he woke with me doing the shush and pat routine. ive since started giving him a bottle not sure if it is the right thing to do or not but he then goes donw soundly straight away til 7.30!

whoop whoop for the babies that are starting to sleep better!

qf any more thoughts on the relocating??

shop is doing really well, very pleased! i am however starting to feel rather shattered working 6 days a week, canr complain though as i at least get to do a job i love!

hello to everybody else!! x x

JetLi · 03/03/2010 20:35

Lydia - can you put me down for a Nativity set too please? Thanks

Will be back to chat soon - DD needs a bath and by the pong, she's had an enormous poo as well - better fetch Daddy

QueenFee · 03/03/2010 20:53

hello all

christiana I know how you feel there seems to be a lot of us with OH's out of work at the mo. We are finding it quite stressfull not least because there are so many decisions to make. I think DH will accept this job whilst still poss keeping his ear out for any other possible jobs. However after many a long conversation we may relocate to Crewe. It's not too far from here so I can still be in touch with my friends, it's about 5 miles from my cousin who is one of my best mates and half way between the grands so they will be happy that we are a bit nearer. It also places us in good position for commuting - crewe has trains to just about anywhere (london direct about 1 1/2 hours no stops) and stright on m6 for driving. Big decision though but we are not telling anyone in RL yet so please don't mention it on Facebook!

sleep not happing in this house! Think I am going to have to do controlled crying with Alfie so I will be joining Pheonix!
