April 2007 - The one where we despair about coughs and colds; sickness bugs; cheeky behaviour and the amount of tinsel and fairy lights ALREADY in the shops!!

It seems like a silly response. You're asking for a volunteer. Respond to the person who has responded thanking them for their kind offer to volunteer.

StealthPolarBear · 07/12/2009 12:39

wow! just had a wee on the potty & one on the toilet!
You'd think by 30 I'd have got the hang of this

oooggs · 07/12/2009 13:09

you think you have problems try 4th child!!!! Poor Luke and feel that only doing stuff for him because of the others. Ortherwise will get 'why didn't FC bring Luke anything?'

I am very cross , Jack won't have his hair cut - it is a mess, James shouting out the answer and pre empting the teacher at school - he is bored - what am I supposed to do there. She is an old school teacher set in her ways but she is not challenging him enough. Where do I start?

oooggs · 07/12/2009 13:09

oh and well done katy on the wee

Eddas · 07/12/2009 13:20

yay I have a volunteer, albeit a reluctant one. Still i'm not doing it!

Oooggs, so glad I don't have 4 to think about, 2 is bad enough, didn't think it'd be an issue as we have one of each but it is!

I am definately resigning from pre-school next year, I wanted to this year but didn't because eandh came up with the fab idea of getting a free session if you are chair/treasurer/secretary and since we have no money it's a must to stick it out. Shame ds didn't show up a bit earlier or he'd get his free sessions earlier I'm going to mention at the next comittee meeting that I cannot do as much. Think eandh and I have a kind of it's easier to do it yourself mentality, which it is, but we must delegate more. It would've been much easier to say i'll buy the food as the amount of time i spent emailing and texting was probably more than going to Tesco. THink it became a 'principal' thing plus i'm tired and grumpy which doesn't help as I just dig my heels in

Sorry, will stop ranting now

Eddas · 07/12/2009 13:24

ds won't have his hair cut either, it's an overgrown mop but i'd rather that than the horrible cut dh gave him in the summer. He looked horrible if you're on fb you may have seen the pics of the wedding we went to in the summer? I cried and dh is never ever allowed near it again

No advice on James, sounds more like the teacher needs to re-think things tbh.

spb, i too am glad to hear you're getting the hang of weeing in the right places

StealthPolarBear · 07/12/2009 14:05

T a nightmare bwith hair cuts too, just booked for another screaming fit on Monday
potty training is a pain

StealthPolarBear · 07/12/2009 14:06

sooryr abt issues ith school oooggs, no advice obviously , hope he getd more challenged

Eddas · 07/12/2009 16:00

SPB are you off writing christmas cards from T

I've just been trying to sort out dh's brother who asked BIL/SIL ideas for my dc and has bought a dvd for each of them, trouble is they have both been bought by other people already. Why he didn't ask me or dh is beyond me, and I really don't want dc getting 2 of the same thing. I can't face the q's to return the damn things after christmas.

Bramshott · 07/12/2009 16:03

I have to sneak up behind O with the hair scissors while she is engrossed in the telly!

StealthPolarBear · 07/12/2009 16:05

nope, have decided I will not contribute to tree deaths in that way
(i.e. lazy)
Feels good to have made a specific decision, last year I was just too disorganised
should be cleaning while dd asleep.....

StealthPolarBear · 07/12/2009 16:06

Bramshott, do you have special skills or do you just do it "as it is now, but shorter"
(that's all I want)
He had a hair cut when he was about 8 months, looked so cute, that was the last time it was done, really

CaptainDippy · 07/12/2009 20:36

One of our local hairdressers has a special chair for children that is smack bang in front of a DVD player!! Come to Eastbourne!!!!!!

Totally get where you are coming from. I am learning to say "no" now. Always taking on extra tasks for no thanks and I am tired of it. Decided I need to start being more selfish!!! Glad you got a volunteer. Like you, I hate the "if no-one else will do it" mentality. Yuk. Yuk. Yuk. Our Chair (good friend) of our pre-school Committee has just resigned and I think what you have been talking about has a lot to do with it, poor love. Going to call here now and see what's what ..... wish me luck ......

No special skills Katy, just very sharp scissors! Maybe it's easier on girls - all I am aiming for is a straight line at shoulder height!

Northernlurker · 08/12/2009 10:02

Hi all

I cut my girls hair as well. It's much cheaper. Dd1 has very straight hair which is a bit tricky but dd2 and dd3 both have a wave in their hair which covers a multitude of sins!

Sexonlegs · 08/12/2009 10:33

Morning

Glad to see things have been busier on here

lol at SPB weeing on the potty! Good on yer girl!!

Eddas, you rant away. People can be so lazy can't they? We have a PTA at school and it is always the same people helping out.

Dippy, we have a chain of hairdressers called His and Kids, and they are fab. For tiny ones, they have a toy car that you can sit in and have your hair cut. K sits in front of one of their tv's and watches a Dora DVD. She then gets a lolly and a sticker once she has been done!

We have heating! Luckily, they came back the next day and re-routed the gas supply on the outside of the house from the meter to the boiler. It looks a bit unsightly, but better than them pulling walls down to find where the leak was. The only problem is we had a gas hob, and the supply cannot be re-connected to that. Had to order a ceramic hob last Wednesday, and they can't deliver until the 13th! Have been using a friends' gas camping stove!!

Apart from that, have been poorly - temperature etc over the weekend, and still feel pants.

And, very sadly, one of dh's cousins died. He was only 31 Dh has flown over for the funeral.

So, that's the news from here!

Hope everyone is ok. xx

StealthPolarBear · 08/12/2009 13:51

so sorry to hear about your dh's cousin SOL. glad you have heating.
Looks as though everyone has the haircut thing sorted (Dippy, I'd love to ). If Monday's no good then I will do it myself!!
T has decided he doesn't like potties, he likes toilets and pooed in it this morning
Wasn't it only a few months ago nappy contents were disussion of the day? Or is it just me? Are you all going slightly green and abandoning your sandwiches?

CaptainDippy · 08/12/2009 14:41

Gosh SOL, that is terribly young Prayers for his family. x

oooggs · 08/12/2009 20:06
