Evening all

Lovely to see some old faces back on here!!

Oooggs, fab news re the lo; long may he continue to strive.

Dippy, hope you feel better soon.

Elkie, glad you have heating again.

How is everyone else?

We have no heating now! In fact, no gas!! I have smelt gas in our bathroom for a while and finally arranged for someone to come and take a look. There is definitely a leak, although they are not sure where from, so they have disconnected us! The only way to find it would be to pull down walls. So, we have gone for option B which is less complex, but means that our gas hob will never work again. I have had to go and order a ceramic hob and the earliest they can fit it is the 13th December!!!! Thank God for the microwave and oven/grill!

Water softener has also packed up, as has my car radio!!!!!

Bollocks

StealthPolarBear · 03/12/2009 07:52

alll gone quiet again

Eddas · 04/12/2009 17:41

hi i'm still here!

It's manic atm, had pre-school christmas fayre this morning, went really well and we raised loads. Tomorrow is the school fayre. I feel like all i've been doing is folding raffle tickets I've got so many dates for this and that swarming round my head that it's a bit overwhelming

Northernlurker · 04/12/2009 17:48

I'm still here too. Busy, busy, sorting out Christmas etc.

Love to all.

Kind of, a bit, maybe potty training here. Some time with a nappy off (at nursery, not keen at home) occasional wee in potty (timing I think not deliberate), couple of accidents, couple of references to doing something in nappy. We're getting there slowly, can't be bothered to push it tbh. Did that with dd1 and it was a nightmare.

SOL - gas leak sounds nasty - hope you get all fixed soon.

Dooby - also hope you are fixed soon too!

Byeeeeee

oooggs · 04/12/2009 20:20

Blimey I am chasing my tail

School fayre today, nursery farye tomorrow morning, Christmas Tree festival tomorrow afternoon - next week have plays on wed & thur, James' birthday on friday, his party on saturday - I can't keep up. Dh out of the house as least 13 hrs a day as still on 12hr shifts

eddas - glad you are still about

NL - potty training is my worst parenting bit so far

katy - don't be sad - we are here you will need to start texting us soon to get our butts in gear

Doobydoo · 04/12/2009 20:51

Echo OOOggs SPB
Thanks NL....I think!
We busy as heck here too.Am sure when we were in Ireland we had more time 'to stand and stare'
We have, amongst other things a visit from Educational Welfare people in a week and a half
.They sent us a letter saying ds1 had been referred to them due to educational concerns so I rang ready to be cross and they apologised saying they had no concerns and had sent letter in error. This is just a 'normal' visit. Some home edders are opposed to letting them into their homes and speaking to the child as you do not have to comply but we are not worried on that score but still feel trepidatious.
Ds1 will be going to secondary in Sept and is doing bits here and there...mainly secondary stuff so shall see how it goes.I am going to start driving lessons in January[eek]
My shift on ward today was positive and I remembered things from days of Yore so feel positive tonight re nursing but still nervous.
Hope all are well

AngeG · 04/12/2009 21:09

I'm still here too

Eddas and oooggs wow you are both busy!

Northerlurker - good to see you Good luck with the sort of potty training!

Hello SPB

Busy busy here as well. I must find time to write the Christmas cards and buy the teachers presents!!

Had some lovely cards home from Izzy's pre-school, green hand print holly on the front with red finger print berries and a photo on the back saying artwork by me!! Would be fantastic except she has a really miserable face in the photo and she's sticking her two fingers up Apparently she had her hand in her mouth so someone pulled it out while the other quickly took a photo and they didn't realise. We think it's quite funny but will need to be careful who we send those photos to

AngeG · 04/12/2009 21:12

Hello Dooby Good luck with the driving. Glad you're feeling positive about the nursing. Hope the meeting goes ok.

Doobydoo · 04/12/2009 21:36

CaptainDippy · 05/12/2009 12:06

Hope meeting goes ok Dooby, all so bloody complicated, isn't it!!? Hug. xx

LOL @ cards Ange - please post a pic!!

DippyLand is ok enough Looking forward to purchasing and putting up the tree tomorrow I've got a cold, no voice and coughing like a loopy idiot; but ok. DD2's chicken died last night Thought it would be kinder to her to just buy a replica and pop it in the garden. She hasn't noticed

Hope everyone has a good weekend

Maveta · 05/12/2009 20:40

Hello April girls! [waves] my but its been such a long time! Nothing has changed in land of maveta since I was last on even if that was months and months and months ago! Working hard, too hard really.. trying to get the balls to sit down with my boss and either get more money out of her or renegotiate my terms. Problem is I don´t actually know what I want more - more money or less work! lol both would be best, thanks

Don´t know if I mentioned we might be going to Miami? Well we are going but only for a month in the end [phew] was going to be 3 but I ended up pulling out. Except I then felt bad they´d be in the shit so said we´d go for a month. dh is happy, he´s got a month´s unpaid leave so hopefully a nice long holiday for him. Long as ds doesn´t totally knacker him out. hmmm. what are the chances?

And that´s it. Really no other news! So far no winter bugs but the cold weather is only really beginning now so I´m sure they are on their way. Starting to think we should get on with ttcing for a second but already psyching myself out that its going to take ages/we´ll have problems etc etc Social life is nil but life seems so busy these days I don´t actually notice where I might have previously had time for one! lol

Hope you guys are all well and happy - Merry Christmas!! Am feeling v v xmassing this year - had the tree up for weeks already shameless. its my yankee genes

over and out

CaptainDippy · 06/12/2009 09:32

Maveta!!!!! Hellooooooooo! Great to "see" you - glad everything is ok enough for you and ooooh to Miami!! Sounds nice, even if it is in conjunction with work!! Yes, you should get on with TTCing - oooggs, Polar and Elkie have all beaten you already!! No me though. NO MORE FOR MEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!*

Good 80's Party last night, but feel pretty rough and still feel crappy now Boooo! DH off to church with others and I am staying at home to recuperate and watch last night's X-Factor with my duvet on the Sofa.

elkiedee · 07/12/2009 09:43

Hi all there

Eek at SOL having no gas - what are you going to do for heating?

D has started to sleep better at night, touch wood, C has decided he doesn't want to sleep alone in his cot (still in our room) and sleeps between us. Last night he wouldn't go to sleep for ages either, and I started feeling really grumpy about it, it was ridiculously late and I wanted a few minutes to drink my tea and read my book and then go to sleep, not be bitten and scratched and have my hair pulled by a wide awake baby. Grrr.

Eddas · 07/12/2009 10:37

sorry ladies, i've come to moan

I'm a fool to myself and i'm so exhausted. It doesn't help that ds has decided the busiest time of the year is the best time to begin 5am waking

I'm sick of bloody committees and the fact that a few people seem to do everything. Why bother volunteering if you're never gonna bloody help The worst thing I ever did was agree to be pre-school treasurer. I seem to spend hours on crap to do with it. The latest thing this morning was a text (sorry eandh if you read this) from eandh asking if I wanted the list of food to buy for the party on friday. I have never said I would bloody buy it I know she normally buys it but why can't someone else do it ffs. I work tues/wed/thurs, I have already said i'll help make up the plates of food on fri giving up my last morning of no ds. I've asked the other committee members and all you get is 'well i'll do it if no-one else will' I told one of them that i've had enough and will not be doing it There's just an assumption that either I or eandh will do it. We had our christmas fayre on fri and the one thing we had not done was a mess. Someone had said they'd make a pin the nose on a rudolph and left it in the car

to top it of I spent a while on fri night folding tickets for the school tombola (had been asked to do it by the chairlady) and I got there to find they'd been done by someone else seriously not impressed! I felt like a child getting annoyed by it, but I was the straw that broke the camels back i think.

and

StealthPolarBear · 07/12/2009 10:41

rant away eddas, sounds like you need to!
and not chilish about tickets, seems a little thing but your time is precious!

Eddas · 07/12/2009 10:54

thanks spb

on a brighter note, I've nearly finished my mammoth christmas shopping task. I started wrapping last night and i'm going out tomorrow evening for a festive curry with the girls.

I've had trouble thinking of things to buy for ds. DD is easy, pink/girly/crafty and it'll be a winner! Ds though is tough. He has a lot of things from dd anyway. Not that he'd know if he got nothing but dd would know IYSWIM. I keep having to buy him extra bits, which is a shame yesterday I got him a Woody dressing up outfit it'll be miles to big as it's 3-4 but it's the smallest they had!

StealthPolarBear · 07/12/2009 11:04

planning on getting T a craft set with scissors, glue etc, will probably regret that. Other than that, got him loads of books, dressing up outfit, pencil cases etc. A is the problem with us - guess it's the second child problem!!

Eddas · 07/12/2009 11:34

yup definately a 2nd child thing IMO

Response to my email/text asking for a volunteer to buy the food has been;

'i'll do it if no-one else will'

seriously, do they not think that everyone is saying that
