April 2007 - The one where we despair about coughs and colds; sickness bugs; cheeky behaviour and the amount of tinsel and fairy lights ALREADY in the shops!!

Welcome back POTC and Eddas, stick around now both of you.

I seriously thought of coming to MN Xmas do but didn't make it due to sick children, they might have been well enough as it turned out in the end but I just didn't feel like even trying by that time. Hope you had fun.

StealthPolarBear · 30/11/2009 07:20

Morning everyone, nice to see POTC and Eddas
Thanks for the congratulations POTC, not sure if the 7 weeks was about me, she's actually 10 weeks! In fact at her age today, T did his first ever roll over! Won't be holding my breath though
elkie, thinking about you as it's FREEEEEZING here this morning, when's your boiler getting fixed?

Eddas · 30/11/2009 14:09

oooo a thread I started is in 'discussions of the day' that's never happened before. Must've been a slow posting day

Has anyone finished their christmas shipping yet? I seem to have been buying bits and bobs for ages, and coming up with ideas for people but still seem to have loads left to buy

Eddas · 30/11/2009 14:12

oh ffs shopping not shipping

I am indeed a dumbarse

oooggs · 30/11/2009 19:46

woo hoo - welcome back you two

Glad you are back in Scouting POTC - James started Beavers 3 weeks ago

Eddas - most of shopping finished - only really buy for the kids!

CaptainDippy · 30/11/2009 19:49

Hey Eddas and POTC I've finished mine

OP posts:
Eddas · 30/11/2009 20:01

dd asked about going to Rainbows but all the ones near me are full and have huge waiting lists so no chance! She's on the waiting list for Brownies so we'll see if she gets a place once she's 7!

Ooogs, very at only buying for the kids, I have so many people it's just ridiculous. plus i'm trying to do it all as cheap as possible as we don't have any money

CD, glad you've finished

oooggs · 30/11/2009 20:14

yep buy for our 4 and then our 2 neices who are 18yrs & 15 mths (and these are token gifts!!!)

so much cheaper

Eddas · 30/11/2009 20:57

my list is;
dd
ds
dh
dnephew x 2
dneice x 2
childless relatives who buy for the kids, not for us, but I feel obliged to buy a token gift
my bro
my sis
my dad and step-mother (he wouldn't be fussed if I bought nothing but she would)
my nan (feel i ought to get her something after mum died as she'd only get something from my aunt otherwise)
my step-brother
my step-sister and her dh
dh's brother
dh's step-sister
dh's step-bother
mil & her dh
FIL
3 x friends kids who we buy v.small gift for

think that's it

I had to add dh in after getting to the end as I forgot him

My list used to be so simple, dad/mum, bro & sis

AngeG · 30/11/2009 21:14

Hello

Nice to see Eddas and POTC back!

Eddas that is a pretty long list!

mine is

DS
DD
DSD1
DSD2
DH
MUM
DAD
DSD2 boyfriend
DB1
DB2
DB2 Fiancee
Godson
Nephew
Grandma
Grandpa
Best Friend and her Husband
DH ex-wife (don't ask!!)
DH ex inlaws (again don't ask)
friends children x2

Think that's all. If it is then I've bought it all, they just need wrapping!

A few years ago I was buying double that amount of presents mainly for DH's side of family and it was a royal pain in the arse So I cut back big time
Need to start writing Christmas cards really and get DS to write his for school.

Elkie - Hope your boiler it working now, it's so cold today.

Dippy - Want to see photos of you as an elf

Oooggs - How is your neighbours grandson? DS was a similar gestation and spent 3 weeks in SCBU as Bramshott said it would have been loads harder had he been second as I spent pretty much every waking moment at the hospital with him. at L pulling himself up to standing!

SPB - Can't believe A is 10 weeks already, where did that time go?

Would be lovely to have a busier thread in time for Christmas

elkiedee · 30/11/2009 23:28

Ange, sounds like you have a complicated family to buy presents for.

We have working heating again, thank goodness.

I'm surprised by how much I'm looking forward to going to work tomorrow, it probably won't last the 10 minute journey in by tube though. And I'll still be looking to take some leave, but to go out and do stuff not to be cooped up in the house. We did go to the park on Saturday and to my aunt's yesterday, when the boys were much better, and they went to the CM today even though we were here, because I thought that would be easier with work being done and that we could do something useful or rest in the afternoon, in the end we did very little though - dp did have a good nap.

StealthPolarBear · 01/12/2009 08:39

Morning everyone
Hope work goes well elkie

CaptainDippy · 01/12/2009 11:52

Just come back from school where I had to pop by to inspect DD2's impressive bump and graze on her forehead from tripping in the playground, bless her. Apparently she was very very brave

Right, lots of work to crack on with .....

oooggs · 01/12/2009 14:25

Ange - Fantastic to see you

the grandson - yet to be named - is breathing alone and in an incubator and being tube fed mummys milk

raining here but pleased to see the thread picking up again
