Yay for your friend cyteen . And twins!!

CaptainCaveman · 22/10/2009 11:22

And i'm tired (that's supposed to signify my black eyes!) . I wonder if I'm tired out of habit?!

CaptainCaveman · 22/10/2009 11:24

And I forgot to tell you!! Ds1 was telling me how he'd "done some really good rhyming words at school mummy", so we did some more at home:
Me: What rhymes with shoe?
Ds: blue
Me: what rhymes with....
etc etc, until
Me: What rhymes with bag?
Ds: slag
I spat my teeth out laughing!!

Winibaghoul · 22/10/2009 12:30

cc bless your ds.
wolfie that's lovely news for your friend

well we've seen the doctor and Seb has croup it seems. He's better now than he was this morning thankfully and is now napping. Now I need to wash our bedding as he threw up all over our duvet this morning. At least I know my boobies still make lots of milk with the amount he puked up.

Winibaghoul · 22/10/2009 12:47

I've just found out one of my favourite professors at uni died last Friday.
Apparently he was ill with cancer for a very short time, and knew there was no treatment available when he was diagnosed.

MidnightSlayer · 22/10/2009 13:39

ann cyteen captain all
too busy doing secret op work. have booked holiday without discussing with dh so working backwards to get him onboard.

alittlebitshy · 22/10/2009 14:19

ann re your proffessor. and poor seb too.

cc loving ds1's rhyming!!!!!!!!

Marking my place....

steaknifethroughtheheart · 22/10/2009 20:12

Evening all. I've been off doing stuff in real life.

I have a big pile of sewing projects, real and imagined, that I wanted to get on with so I turned off the pooter and restricted TV to Strictly It Takes Two and Dr Who to get things done.

That plus going back to basics with Iz to try to sort out the night wakings and gently leading her away from BFing.

cece loving the rhyming.

wini sounds like a bold stand for sleeping, well done. hsad about your old prof.

I think my dinner might be appropriate for watching PMC as I made fresh pasta yesterday.

steaknifethroughtheheart · 22/10/2009 20:12

or even

steaknifethroughtheheart · 22/10/2009 20:33

flippin 'eck you go off for a couple of days, come back and everyone is off playing somewhere else.

I'm not sulking.

I'm not you know.

Nope, not me.

Not miffed at all.

BucketsOfBlood · 22/10/2009 20:44

Evening all. Dull day today although I had some AMAZING chocolate cake at a lunchtime baby meet which made me feel stuffed til 8pm. I don't even like chocolate cake that much but this was iced with a mix of melted chocolate and whipped cream. I've got to stop being so tight and start baking like that.

Completed DS1's robot costume from 2 pillowcases (by hand) but it will be rags by lunchtime tomorrow! Tried the trousers on him and they ripped up the bum and the hooded tunic is already on its way to becoming a tabard. Luckily he is young/solipsistic enough not to mind wearing white thermal jumper and (girl's) leggings underneath. Hope to get a photo up tomorrow but this is what he's supposed to look like!

Cyteen How's the spot? Has it multiplied? If not I wouldn't worry.

iwascyteenagewerewolf · 22/10/2009 20:52

Hi Buckets, DP did bath and bedtime so I didn't get to see, but he hasn't reported anything untoward and DS has been full of laughter since we got back from nursery

Hi steaky I was wondering where you'd got to! Glad to hear you've been AWOL for good reasons.

I am getting a bit emotional at PMC tonight

steaknifethroughtheheart · 22/10/2009 20:56

cy

Oh I'm glad I wasn't the only one being moved by PMC [ahem] Though at one point I did want the chef to turn round and land one on MRJ.

steaknifethroughtheheart · 22/10/2009 21:17

I've been making lil jumpers and tam o'shanters for the baby from charity shop wooly scarfs.

I still have a dress and trousers to make from brown elephant cord and a jersey dress from a charity shop red stripey tee.

And lots of other things too.

Though I might have broken my frugal credentials by then buying her lots of bodies and shirts in H&M and Gap this afternoon.

Just wondering where you get gulls eggs from. All the gulls round here are shifty eyed buggers.

MiamlaMwahHahahahahaaaaaaa · 22/10/2009 21:33

well done on your frugal sewing projects (worry not, i glossed over the details of your afternoon's shopping trip!)

Some of you may remember that DP tested whether or not it was possible to get under the stairgate when he first installed it upstairs. DP got stuck and we decided that DS wouldn't be able to manage it...how wrong we were!
our little houdini here managed to get underneath the stair gate and fell half way down the stairs. By the time i'd got the stair gate open he was happily crawling backwards down the remaining few stairs. And breath!

we've now (well DP has!) sewn some webbing and a couple of clips to the bottom of it so now the middle is attached to the floor. DS may have won a battle but we'll win the war (or whatever the saying is!)

OOOOOOOOOOOpsacoconut · 22/10/2009 21:36

Evenin All

YAY my fav. won PMC (no names mentioned incase anyone had SKy+'d it)

Steaky - I was just saying to DH about the sudeen increase in blackmarket gulls eggs stolen from cliffs from tomorrow. Although our council could make a fortune if they raided nests in town. You are amazing with the sewing

Hi Cyteen

OOOOOOOOOOOpsacoconut · 22/10/2009 21:37

Hi Miamla

steaknifethroughtheheart · 22/10/2009 21:40

Miamla Keep an eye on that Houdini boy. A friend of mine has a DS who instead of napping was making good his escape out of the window and sat laughing on the porch roof.
Window locks fitted but he still managed to get out.

steaknifethroughtheheart · 22/10/2009 21:52

wotcha oops

MidnightSlayer · 23/10/2009 01:22

Poopy Day...literally. Reese has D. Joy. DD1 had a fever for an hour and didn't feel like eating ALL DAY. DH brought her tater tots after work. Now she's saying she feels like she's going to throw up. I put a bucket by her bed. Let's hope she doesn't use it.

Night ZZZZZZZZ

Snotmonster · 23/10/2009 02:41

TS hope they are both doing better soon.

Wini sorry to hear about the prof and Seb's croup.

CC love the rhyming - am finding that DS starting to pick up loads on what we say now so need to start being a bit more careful! Yesterday when speaking to a friend about what her DS was having for dinner when hearing the response fish pie DS started doing his fish impression and when speaking to Mum about having a lie-in he started roaring like a lion

Another rubbish night. DS went to sleep fine but woke up at 12.30 and then at 4am and wouldn't go back to sleep so got him up at 5.30. I think it might be teeth I had a bit of a feel (which for some reason he found incredibly funny) and think there may be a molar coming at the top. Will try and give him some calpol tonight to see if that helps at all. He's very clingy atm (Dizzy you have my sympathies it's really tiring) and very whingey when he doesn't get his own way - but maybe that's just him!

MidnightSlayer · 23/10/2009 03:58

My empty toy bucket placed strategically beside DD1's bed with towel placed strategically underneath it came in REAL HANDY just moments ago. Before I'd gotten my sorry ass out of bed, found my glasses and tripped over the cat...DD1 had ejected the most of the contents of her stomach INTO SAID BUCKET. Such a JOY to find she wasn't finished so I got to hold her hair back for the first time (something I'd hoped would be saved for her teenage years).

Reese woke in all the commotion but then rolled back over to sleep. She has PRIORITIES!

Both are asleep again but I'm slightly shell shocked. It might take me a few more minutes before I doze off again.

Expectant Reese has been clingy too. MUCHO TEETHERS appearing has to be the cause.

OH Reese walked down the porch steps today like pro. No help. Not sure she could have managed more steps than what we have but she totally surprised me. WOW! Big Girl!!

VintageGaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahdenia · 23/10/2009 06:13

Oh how sweet at the lie-in chat resulting in some zoo sound effects! That did make me smile on a morning where I am not feeling very smiley! Dark, cold, early, silent, grim is this morning.

That's amazing about Reese's walking, do you mean face first, walk walk walk? We are nowhere near that.

Great news on your projects steaky, it's great to be busy like that. I finished ds1's hat but it's not great. I have lovely wool for a hat for dp so I will start destroying that this weekend.

Missed PMC cos I went to a school information thing (they had 4 principals, each standing up to talk about their school) which was really interesting as apart from our school issue at the mo we face secondary in a year and a half.

Cake sounds fab even at this hour. Nigella I think has a chocolate icing which is basically melted dark choc mixed with sour cream and it is absolutely delish, I don't like lots of icing and that I could practically eat from the bowl.

OOOOOOOOOOOpsacoconut · 23/10/2009 07:28

Morning all

DD has sussed that if she sleeps until 5.30 when I go in and she sobs 'go, mama papa, go bed, mama papa' and I take her into our bed where she sleeps until 7.30 with boob at her convienience and backache for me. They are all getting a little too smart now! She also came down and asked for the telly I said no and she gave gallic shrug and went to find a book.

DH has the day off today so we are off swimming then DH and DD are going to soft play after lunch.

Snot - we also have major clingyness here - other people are fine as long as Iam in touching reach. DH can't even take her up for a bath at the moment without screams of mama.

VG - Morning want a cuppa low fat hot choccie and some toasted brioche?

itshotterinhell · 23/10/2009 08:07

Morning all

It's rotten here today, still a bit dark and looks all wet outside. Just seen some geese off home too . Any bets on the DC realising the clocks go back this weekend and sleeping later

Oops loving DD's Gallic shrug

VG good luck with the hat. As long as it's made with love he'll have to wear it

TS well done on the sick planning but poor DD Hope it was a one-off and she's feeling much better today. My two were awful with it over the weekend but are currently having a jam-on-bread picnic on the floor

snot what a clever boy you have sorry to hear sleep is still a bit rubbish, fingers crossed once the teeth are out it will get better.

Steaky welcome back

Everyone else Hellllooooooo

Spent a dirty, dusty day yesterday clearing out much loved possessions crap from the lounge including half of the toys which are going to charity/on ebay. It looks loads better now, well apart from the fact that now they can see actual toys rather than just a big pile of crap, they have got everything out on the floor.

Anyone else's DC still rubbish at talking? There are some brill chatterers on here but DS still firmly in the mama, dat (cat) and tickle camp. Oh and he can say yoghurt but he actually means look at that, or I want it (I think, whatever it is it's not actually yoghurt )
