Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
itshotterinhell · 23/10/2009 08:47

I had a wander round John Lewis while I was in Newcastle, and saw my dream coat here It's soooo beautiful but sadly out of my price range

iwascyteenagewerewolf · 23/10/2009 09:45

hotter my DS is also pretty much wordless. Silent, no He has an opinion on everything, just not involving actual words. Although I do think he's started saying 'dat' for cat - he points to the picture of a cat on his wall, or our harrassed moggies, and says 'Dat!' - but he also says it randomly all the time, along with something that sounds like Ikea.

Love the coat, maybe you could Ebay a child to finance it? I went bra shopping yesterday which was as tedious as ever, but at least my norks are comfortably supported now.

itshotterinhell · 23/10/2009 10:13

Good idea, but which one to choose...or I could sell both and get some boots too

BucketsOfBlood · 23/10/2009 11:13

Kurt's been doing some very good standing for a 2 or 3 secs this week but his speaking is pretty much non-existent. He can say Lyra very clearly and a Mum sound is coming along but that's pretty much it. Hasn't said Daddy for months and Duuuuur is the nearest he gets to Noah. The subtitles on Star Wars say that R2D2 'beeps and chirps,' a phrase which we've always thought was v apt for babies and cats.

Got to think about clearing out my kitchen tomorrow. Starting to poo my pants a little about the whole thing and all the millions of things that could screw it all up.

TS Nice catch!

MiamlaMwahHahahahahaaaaaaa · 23/10/2009 11:57

steak good grief! i'll bet your friend had a heart-attack! How is she managing to keep him contained if he fooled the window locks?

oops you've put your finger on it with 'gallic shrug'!! thank you! thats what DS does and i've had trouble explaining it to people!

midnight you poor thing with DD1. i'd have been sick too if that had been me helping. is she feeling better now she's expelled everything?

clingyness? not sure i understand that word! we have opposite problem here. At any given opportunity DS makes a bid for freedom. That was especially fun during the nursery rhyme session at the library yesterday. Those shelves of books make a great maze!

hots i've got a non-talking runner here. His repertoire consists of mamama, nannannan (my mum), baba (DP and the cat ) and erm, something else, can't remember
His understanding is crazy though! We really have to watch what we're saying. its like having a dog here... we can't say 'walk' without him running to the door and getting very cross if we then don't go on a walk!
He thinks its hilarious when he does a bottom burp but that may well be completely my fault..i may have encouraged him ever so slightly
loving the john lewis coat! genius idea re selling both DCs

wolfie where did you find your bras? I desperately need to go myself. I'm wearing pre-baby bras. well, when i say 'wearing' i mean my norks are kind of sitting on top of the cups

buckets is your new kitchen happening now? i seem to be out of date and thought your re-mortgage hadn't been agreed

MiamlaMwahHahahahahaaaaaaa · 23/10/2009 11:58

and forgot to say VG well done on DS1's hat... i'm assuming that's what you were knitting? can we see a photo?

Winibaghoul · 23/10/2009 12:08

hello all
Well we had an eventful night which included a trip to A&E so that was fun .
Basically Seb decided to stop breathing and pass out. He was blue, and didn't breathe for a couple of minutes. dp got him breathing by turning upside down and wacking him hard on the back. For some reason our phone line wasn't working, as we discovered when we tried to dial 999. So MIL's P gave us a lift to the hospital where we ended up waiting for over two hours. When we eventually got to paediatrics, they basically said 'sometimes these things happen, if he does it again tickle his feet'
So I am shattered and I seem to have caught Seb's lurgy as I feel shite this morning.

iwascyteenagewerewolf · 23/10/2009 12:13

Miamla they're just M&S cheapies, I was too lazy/poor to go anywhere else.

VintageGaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahdenia · 23/10/2009 12:31

Wini how horrible. Did it just happen while he was asleep or did he faint or something?

Re hat there is no chance on God's earth you'll see a photo.

Re words don't worry we have lost dog, etc and now he says Ma (for ds1) and daddaaaaaaaaaaaa and doockadoockadoockadoocka which I think means digger AND he doesn't walk or stand for longer than a few seconds. And he pants to mean "dog" even though he used to be able to say it.

iwascyteenagewerewolf · 23/10/2009 12:35

Good grief Wini what a nightmare Was he having a paddy at the time? Just that it made me think of reflex anoxic seizures. Did the medics give him a thorough check-over, at least?

Winibaghoul · 23/10/2009 13:12

No cyteen he was crying a bit but he wasn't hysterical, I picked him up and I thought he was taking a breath but he just went rigid and stopped breathing, then slumped against mys houlder with his eyes open and he still wasn't breathing.
Medics checked his pulse and listened to his chest and took urine to test as well.

MidnightSlayer · 23/10/2009 13:27

VG yes, face first. UNBELIEVABLE! She has been walking since 10 months though so I guess that's about right.

Oops too smart indeed. A friend told me that when her baby could ask for the boob...boob time was OVER. She feared it happening in public.

HP Reese is talking up a storm. She's making fun of me today by walking around saying OOOOKKKKKKK OOOOOO KKKKKKKK. I obviously say OK alot. She's signing a lot too. However everything she signs she can say so she does both. Eat, more, cat, out, bird, good girl, fresh, diaper, sit, momma, daddy, buddy (one of the cats), here kitty kitty, good boy, soft....that's a sample of her vocab THIS MORNING.

Cyteen

Buckets thanks! Felt like an ACE!!

ANN TICKLE HIS FEET! I'd have punched that doc!! However, having been in the same boat (remember Reese pulled one of those months ago) I completely understand. (((hug))) After Reese's incident she decided to flirt with the medics. GEEZ!

DD1 is up but only taking liquids. DH gave her juice. I'm trying to limit things that could cause the upchucking. Her temp is up again too. Very low grade though PLUS the tummy upset....wonder if this is the flu???

DH helping me get to the chiro with the kiddos. He's going to meet me and sit in the truck with them. I terrified they will get worse or I will get sick since he leaves for Colorado SUNDAY. GREAT!

Be back later today.

((hugs)) to all

lwfhthevampireslayer · 23/10/2009 13:58

TS sorry to hear about the puking and Ann how scarey. Hope that things are OK now.

DS still not really walking or talking either. He takes a few steps and then falls forwards - and has been doing this for a month now. Lots of chatter, but no actual words (well I think that he says all sorts of things, but no-one else actually hears them).

alittlebitshy · 23/10/2009 14:14

ann omg how scary. hugs.

ts sorry about the sickiness. though I am impressed that you have got to 5 with no puke before. My dd has has several bugs over her 6.5 years, and ds has had 2 ( including when we all had noro in June, along with 80 odd other ppl at the same party as us )

ts also impressed at the steps!

My ds is walking well now - still a a bit waddling and a bit topply but he barely crawls now - last week he was still dropping ojot all fours if speed was required but less so now.

he babbles all the time. we have several words, but have also lost some form a few months ago . I don;t remember that happening much with dd but I know it does. he is nowhere near as verbal as dd was at this age, in that he has a lot fewer actual words but he has something to say abotu EVERYTHIng, we just cna't decipher it . as miamla says, understanding is scarily good. Am loling at miamla - imaginging her ds panting at the door like a door waiting for walkies. If i say "go out" to ds he goes to the porch, sits on the chair the kids sit on for shoe putitng on and/or climbs into his buggy. Sometimes I have meant we'll go out later, Cue disappointment.
I spent months asking where "ds's hoover is" whenever i hoover, and now ,finaly, he points and goes "uhuhuh" and wants his little hoover cos it's clearly what you do.

Bless them.

lovely age.

Though he has a habit of throwing himself on the floor in rages. Never mind if it is carpeted or stone. The number of cracks on the head when i haven't got there in time to intercept.

just been watching last night's bnpspecial question time. Urgh, what a man

BucketsOfBlood · 23/10/2009 15:59

Ooh Ann horrid horrid scary. Have some choc ASAP. Would always recommend people to call ambulances for kids because you get seen quicker and it can be a nightmare trying to find the right bit and worry about parking.

Just putting up kids' fancydress pic on FB now...

luckoftheirish · 23/10/2009 16:08

hey,

just marking my place.. off to catch up xx

steaknifethroughtheheart · 23/10/2009 16:18

wini blimey, what a shock for you last night. I hope you are having a more peaceful day.

We have had jabs today and this afternoon made biscuits and DS helped me put the washing out to dry, which is her draping a bra over her shoulders like a little cape and going off to play.

I was just catching up and thought she was playing with the laundry on the airer, but couldn't work out what the clunking sound was. Somehow the salt cellar had fallen down and she had been playing with it.
It is now empty and I now have salt crusted laundry. Nice.

Not much talking here either but a lot of chattering about everything. She has a very clear mama and a nana which is anything in the fruit bowl or on the table. She also has dada as we say goodnight to mansteaks photo everynight. And still Ca for cat. And dogs, and gruffalos and soft toys, infact anything remotely furry.

Not much more on the walking. It might have been more of a lurch toward the sofa than actual steps.

Though she has started a kind of hands, one knee and one foot trundle and sometimes two hands two feet trundle too. So perhaps she is working up to two feet good.

OOOOOOOOOOOpsacoconut · 23/10/2009 16:37

Wini - how very scary. {{hugs}} to you all

We took DD to get her feet measured today and she has finally grown enough to have a proper pair of shoes. Her cruisers just weren't cutting it walking in town/park etc. I chose a nice sensible pair of brown leather shoes DH then veto'd them because another pair had flashing lights on them so we have come home with pretty yet impractical black patent leather shes with flashy lights and silver butterflies. They were the most sensible coloured of the ones DH chose (bright pink and shocking purple being DH's other choices) Piccie on profile in a bit.

Buckets - prepare yourself for total chaos and much dust and grime until the kitchen is fitted. Our is almost done the tiler is just finishing off the grout and we are finished only a week late!

DD only talks when it suits her and not on command and will go through phases of not saying much but developing physically then it switches and we have loads of chatting but alot of sitting.

DH hoovering up leaves in the garden, DD and I are going to chase squirrels.

back later

BucketsOfBlood · 23/10/2009 17:15

Miamla Kitchen starts Monday but still waiting for money and in fact builder to call and say what time. Cashflow is v tight til it arrives, my dad has ordered flooring for us and units/appliances are going on DH's credit card.

Got to buy new catflap tomorrow, clear out kitchen, pack clothes and holiday stuff. We're moving into my mum's tomrrow as DH is off to see NFL at Wembley on Sunday and will be no help at all. DH also out tonight after my yoga class. Am feeling quite stressed, PMTish and would like to skip yoga to make lists with him but know yoga is exactly what I need.

Also worrying that if AF is late again I will still be feeling like this throughout my minibreak. Somebody slap me!!!!

MidnightSlayer · 23/10/2009 17:50

Feel better?

Oops is so very right. Buckets beware of the dust. As a matter of fact, you should have some plastic sheets just in case your builder does not. My flooring guys came WITHOUT sheets so we made do with taping plastic garbage bags together. I didn't elimiate the dust from the kitchen but it did decrease the amount it filtered in to the other rooms of the house.

Oh and Buckets is so right on just calling the ambulance for the kids to get seen quicker. When Reese did her pass-out show the ambulance was here 5 minutes after and that's including the call. Totally worth it.

I'll need to go FBing to see photos. I noticed Dizzy's of the concert and I am totally jealous!! Lenny Kravitz will be 1.5 hours away soon and I'm kicking myself for not going. That would make the 3rd concert THIS YEAR to be in Nashville that I've skipped. UUGGG!!!

DD1 is fair. She's not been poorly poorly. She's more mad that she feels bad than anything else. Her temp isn't going high and stays down completely with tylenol but she's having trouble putting food on her tummy. I think she fears ejecting it. The liquids are going do well though so hopefully this will be over soon. Doc said (via phone) that it's just a D&V tummy virus. Well DD1 has the temp and the V AND Reese has the D. I guess you're only given what you can handle.

Mexican Chicken Soup on the stove.

I'd like to sing the praises of chiropratic care. This makes one full week and I am feeling awesome. All the post CS stuff that plagued me is GONE! I'm shocked. I feel more relaxed. I feel healthy. I even did a full pilates roll up AND roll down without the slightest bit of strain. My head (this is funny) feels like it's been well greased and reset on my backbone.LOL! Why OH Why didn't I try this sooner!!!???!!!

MidnightSlayer · 23/10/2009 19:28

i kinda forgot to set the bucket by dd1 when she fell asleep after we got home.

luckoftheirish · 23/10/2009 20:10

oh ts.. you can have the crown back.. hope dd1 is over the worst and no one else in the family gets it hugs..

well i am a new auntie .. sil had baby boy last night 8lbs 10ozs!!! unfortunately they have called him Rocky which everyone keeps thinking its a joke when it isn't ...

my dds are still full of colds... will this ever end???

dd2 says mama, dadda, ta and oh oooh alot.. also when she has finished eating something i say all done and raise my hands and she repeats in her own sweet way.. oh and she likes saying head and tapping her head (loves head, shoulders, knees and toes).. thats about it but lots of baby chatter that i wished i understood..

anyway enough of me.. wini to hear of your mad dash to hosp.. glad seb is ok..

sorry to all those poorly babies and mummies, cannot remember anymore as mummy brain is definitely switched on xx

MidnightSlayer · 23/10/2009 20:14

Lucky I LIKE ROCKY! It would have gone well with ROXY. Still wondering what the big deal about ROXY is. Congrats to your SIL!

dizzydixies · 23/10/2009 20:15

I know a Rocco but the only other Rocky I know is a dog - congrats though

and evening all

steaknifethroughtheheart · 23/10/2009 20:34

Congrats Loti

Is it me or is there naff all on TV tonight.

Have cleared up all confusion with the Mansteak.
After another conversation with him saying "I miss you both, can't wait to see you both"

I finally got the courage to ask if he really meant both or just DD.
His answer is that he misses the good stuff but not the bad stuff. He didn't say it like that but that is it more or less.

So I said, thanks for clearing that up but please just stick to talking about your feelings for DD as otherwise it is a mixed message and I need to protect myself. Then I had a bit of a cry.
I still hope he will magically change his mind when he visits, though I think he is more likely to go on about me still BFing if I am still BFing in two weeks.

I am very aprehensive of this visit. Do you think it would be wrong to bugger off for a day by myself while he is here?
