Right miamla

What type of orange? Mandarine, clementine, satsuma, normal orange?

Sucking segments with the skin on? Skin off in segments? skin off cut into bits?

Before or after tea?

Before or after milk?

In bedroom or downstairs?

In the high chair? while watching TV?

How long between orange and teeth? Orange and bath?

What do you do if he doesn't want to eat it?

If I am going to do something random because someone on the internet told me to (does anyone else feel like this is a bit like the dice man?) then I ought to get the details right.

Ann we are lucky, we don't often have a screamy baby at night, just an awake one - but if he is screamy then he usually gets a bottle of milk, dummy, and we watch TV on the sofa in the living room - not good to get into the habit of, but quite good at stopping the screaming. If he is really screamy we go out in the car (we have only done this a couple of times) and it's usually if we know that there is a reason for him to be upset.

PS When I night weaned DS he stopped BF at night and started coming to sleep in bed with us cuddled with the dummy to go to sleep - so just changed one sleep association thing for another. Not sure that this is very good advice, but hey ho, it's what happens here, and like pertelote things are getting a bit better, although we are still firmly on 2 naps.

MidnightSlayer · 18/10/2009 01:25

Longway you just made me laugh out loud. It's true though....with internet advice you have to get all the details.

NOTE: Orange juice does not do the trick.

Reese has had to very smelly and very loose style poops this afternoon. I believe that may have been the cause to her fussiness last night and this afternoon. She NEVER cries when you put her down for nap/night-night but she's wailed for the last two sleeps. Hopefully night-night tonight will be better. I'm letting both the girls stay up a bit longer as a treat. It is SOOOOO not a treat for me but hopefully they will sleep in tomorrow. Right now Reese is turning channels (and turning the tv off). DH is not happy with that because "football" is on. Oh well!

luckoftheirish · 18/10/2009 07:41

Wini... I really hope you had a better night last night and "p" is behaving himself... would mil have seb for a night to let you try and catch up on some much need sleep and time with "p" so you can move forward united?? big hugs xx

well my two are continuing the nightmare sleeping.. dd1 came into again at 10.30pm last night and ended up with me, took an hour for her to go back to sleep... dd2 refused to go to sleep last night and was up til 8 then fussed off and on til 12...

both up by 6.45.. where oh where do they catch up on their sleep???? dd1 never ever naps in the day anymore even when really poorly and dd1 has a maximum of an hour and 15 tho usually 45 mins and that it!!!

i'm shattered and dh is still in bed.. second lie in this weekend...

ho hum

steaknifethroughtheheart · 18/10/2009 08:52

morning - cottage cheese pancakes are on the stove for those that want them.

Not sure if better or worse night here. Better in that DD settled more quickly and slept till 3. Worse in that even though a little cuddle helped her back to sleep she woke again at 4.30 and finally slept again at 5.30
Better in that she is still asleep now.
So I got a lie in today

You know you are a parent when 8.30 counts as a lie in.
I hope she is better today, if no improvement I will take her back to the Drs tomorrow.

I think I might have manflu,

luckoftheirish · 18/10/2009 09:05

oh steaky passes the lemsip and hot water bottle

MidnightSlayer · 18/10/2009 16:43

luckoftheirish · 18/10/2009 18:22

well dh putting baby to bed and i am about to do storytime with dd1...

its really quiet on here today so hope everyone is having a good day today

BucketsOfBlood · 18/10/2009 19:46

Great weekend here - NCT sale yesterday and DH decided we must watch Strictly (think he is grugingly getting into it) and X Factor over KFC. I fell asleep on the sofa at 10pm though, was shattered after 6hrs non-stop on my feet at the sale. DH out most of today so I took the kids to the zoo again which was really nice, seems to have knocked them all out for bedtime on time.

Wini sorry things still not good. I def recommend less housework more naps (Yes I know I have a cleaner but I would still be doing bugger all housework even if I didn't, esp if in your circs). Meant to say well done for getting your Brown feedback published! I would like to see the ladies of MN getting their teeth into Sarkozy or Berlusconi next.

CC Thanks for your update on your DSis, so good to hear she's doing well.

Have finally found and booked a half term getaway with friend&son. Got a 2bed static caravan near Plymouth for £180! We're only going for 2 or 3 nights, friend staying longer but there's only 2 of them so we're going halves. Shocking News: Am going to ask my mum if she'll have Kurt!!! If she says no it's no problem, will just be a bit tighter spacewise. And not so much of a break either, being a single mum (though I guess it'll be pretty old skool feminist commune LOL.)

iwascyteenagewerewolf · 18/10/2009 21:04

lol steaky - DS slept till 7.30 this morning and we were looking at each other in amazement like we'd just had an extra 5 hours sleep

Had a fantastic weekend with my family. Dad and stepmum's party was really good, saw loads of people I hadn't seen for ages, bar was free, spent all night with best mate and I got to sing a song too Dad played some awesome music, all was good. The only shame was that DP and DS couldn't come, as it ended up starting too late (bloody cyteenfamily time keeping ). But DP got to spend an evening by himself in my dad's flat, watching the cinema-size telly and drinking red wine to the sound of snoring DS, so not all bad.

BucketsOfBlood · 18/10/2009 21:18

LOL doesn't sound like they missed you! What song did you sing?

iwascyteenagewerewolf · 18/10/2009 22:06

Someone To Watch Over Me

BucketsOfBlood · 18/10/2009 22:10

Mmmm classy

BucketsOfBlood · 18/10/2009 22:21

Sorry that sounds sarcastic, was sincere!

iwascyteenagewerewolf · 18/10/2009 22:21

You know me, I'm a classy lady

MidnightSlayer · 19/10/2009 02:35

Yes indeed Cyteen YOU ARE one CLASSY LADY!

Ladies I've turned a new page. Tonight I left DH to find his way with bedtime for the girls and I settled into a warm salt filled bath to soak. Mind you Reese is still up but I guess 1 of 2's not bad. I feel all warm and cozy all over. Sipping some tea. Looking over some more Christmas gift ideas online. Aaaahhhhh! I'd bottle this feeling and share it with all of you if I could.

Buckets you know I'm going to have to Google "static caravan". Glad you're all set though. I will also be looking into "cleaner" prices. Am I the only one here who doesn't have someone to clean my house. No wonder it's such a site!

Steaky I've been trying to send you positive vibes all day. I had to use a few to get through pilates because my hip was hurting but all the rest I've focused on you. I hope you are feeling better.

Lucky what's your pilates schedule this week. I've got Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday & Saturday booked but if my hip & leg keep hurting I'll probably drop one or two classes. Tuesday & Thursday classes are led by a very high end instructor. She's lovely but her class has a really bad after effect....it makes me sore in the deepest layers of my core.

On the top of hurting, I've called to chiropractors to get some help with my pains. After all my complaining about a botched csection I may simply be suffering from sciatica. What's causing the sciatica is a mystery and it's not effecting me like I've heard folks say. It's only hurting in my left hip (beside my cs cut) through my left butt cheek down the interior of my upper left leg with a sore point at the back of my knee then it runs down the rear of my lower leg and raps my achilles and heel. The pain is low on the scale but bothersome. Crazy body! I'm not even 40 yet and it's already falling apart!!

Off to internet window shop. Night.

itshotterinhell · 19/10/2009 06:32

Have had a (quite literally) shitty weekend, all four of us struck down with food poisoning on Friday night so have been either asleep, wiping up sick or sitting on the loo for the last 2.5 days . Everyone on the mend now but I am still feeling a bit sicky which is not good. I've swapped days this week so working today to Wednesday as we are hosting a conference in Newcastle. So my child-free staying in a hotel with a bit of boozing night tonight might not be quite so much fun as I was anticipating

Gosh what a moan sorry!

Hope you all had a lovely weekend and a good Monday to come

luckoftheirish · 19/10/2009 07:37

oh hotter you poor poor thing, what a nightmare.. been thinling about you this weekend and thought it was just dd ad dh poorly but u and ds too?? big hugs and some still lemonade for all of you xx

ms.. pilates this week, god i love it.. hoping to do a class on tues, wed and have my one to one on fri.. i cannot believe how much i enjoy it and how addicted to it you get!!! take it easy u tho... too much of a good thig is gonna hurt!!!

Hope everyone has a good night, ours not to bad, one wake up from dd2 and i creep into my bed at 2.50am from dd1.. so better.. on call at night for sil to have baby and i think it is make not sleep.. feel like i have been awake all night.. maybe just excited!!! she is 40+6 now and getting desperate!!

no1putsbabyinthecorner · 19/10/2009 09:02

hotter You poor things.
How awful.

I hope you are all feeling much better asap.
was it food poisining???
Lots of sickness bugs going round my way atm

Great news on all this Pilates. I am very don't have the childcare to do that.
I am however waiting for my new pole dancing dvd and have found out my old instructer has started doing classes agian.

This I can manage as I can go on the nightsthe dh is at home as you don't have to book a regular block session like Pilates. I can just go as and when.

Hoping also to get to a busker evening at a local pub where I used to work. Will take my guitar and just suss it out first.

vg meant to ask how the guitar lessons where going.

buckets and wolfy sounds like a lovely weekend for you both.

lucky hope you manage a lay in and a night out this week. hope dcs are better too.

wini hope you have managed to talk to dp and worked a routine out to suit you both. for you as it is so tough especially without support.
I will just add that Ds has been sleeping through the night the last week and a half and I think it is because I stopped feeding him when he woke.
First night was hardest, but I just cuddled him to sleep. He has NEVER slept through the night for more than a couple of nights before. So I am convinced it is because I stopped night feeds.

no1putsbabyinthecorner · 19/10/2009 09:03

pertelote hi hope you are all well.

steaky hope dd is on the mend.

Anyone heard from sambo hope she is ok and work is going well for her.

Winibaghoul · 19/10/2009 09:30

Morning all.

Ah well, as TS said this shall pass.

HP argh how awful!! Ive only ever had food poisoning once, an that was enough!! Hope you start to feel better soon.

P an I are ok again. It's weird that when we have a blowout like this, things always have to reach a REALLY low point before we get roun to being ok again. But we manage at least. So as usual Seb slept a decent stretch until WE decided to go to be at which point he had his first wakeup of the night. dp ealt with it!!! Mind you it wasn't long before he woke again, an so the night went. Brought him in with us somewhere near 430/5 this morning. Think I will be cancelling my driving lesson again toay.

Winibaghoul · 19/10/2009 09:35

Oh and just in case you're wondering about my hit an miss d's - it's because I'm pasting them in, but can't always be bothered to do that

OOOOOOOOOOOpsacoconut · 19/10/2009 10:07

Morning Everyone

Wini - pleased things are back on track with DP hopefully you will be able to come up with a workable plan between you.

HP Hope you and family arre feeling better this morning and work goes okay.

DH and I had our first whole DD free day out yesterday. We went out to lunch then rugby then a quick drink with friends and picked D up from the ILs at 6.30. They took her to Cotswold wildlife park and she had a blast but they seemed broken when they got back. When we asked them to have her next weekend when I have my scan they said they were busy, could my parents not come odwn? I had to laugh. DD took some settling as they let her sleep until 4.30 but she then slept until 4.30 when she yelled on and off until 5.30 when she came in to us and slept until 7. DH hogged one side of the duvet and DD the other, it was like sleeping in a wind tunnel!

Will try and catch up on everyones news.

VintageGaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahdenia · 19/10/2009 14:26

How nice for you to have had a day with dh, oops, poor old ILs eh, they won't know what's hit them when they are taking a baby and a toddler to the wildlife park this time next year .

hots sorry you're all sicky what a drag for you.

Sorry I've not been around properly for a bit it's been terrifically busy on various fronts and I am absolutely shattered, have to run now & get ds1.

Have ordered a solid fuel stove to go into our fireplace, am v looking forward to cosy winter evenings, also less stressed re. ds falling into / against it AND finally our sitting room will be warm .

OOOOOOOOOOOpsacoconut · 19/10/2009 20:09

SSSHHHHHHH you don't want to take too much on here

MidnightSlayer · 19/10/2009 21:19

Ann ((hugs)) it will pass, i promise.

VG busy? i've no idea what that means.

Oops hi!

No1 where do you get pole-dancing instruction videos?

HP (((HUG)))+pepto+drytoast+gingerale GOODNESS!

Reese I think has another tummy bug. This is day 2 of stinky diaper syndrome. They aren't out of control just once a day . It surprised her today and caused her one of these faces . It happened right after I gave her cold deepfried zucchini slices. I thought they were tastey.

Chiropractor worked some magic on me today. She also allowed my girls to run wild in her office while she worked on me. Cool on two sides!! For the first time today my hip didn't hurt. Oddly I think it's had a dull pain in it since I was 20 weeks pregnant.
