Eek Slayer that's a long time to be in pain But what a relief to feel some relief, long may it continue. I vividly remember the magic my osteopath worked on my back when it was really badly borked...good grief, if I were a superstitious person I could have come away believing in miracles.

oops what a lovely day that sounds. Today is DP's birthday so we've enjoyed ourselves too, albeit with DS coasting on just 30mins sleep Bless him, he has been so cheery today. Went to play session in the morning - he loved it! Then took DP to lunch at Pizza Express (delish), then got DS's feet measured amid half term hell - he bowled around the shop making friends with everyone and chewing the display shoes - then home for play n stuff. He's walking loads, 12-14 steps at a time, so confident - it's incredible to think he only took his first few last week.

It's very quiet on here tonight, where the hell is everyone? PMC finished half an hour ago

MidnightSlayer · 19/10/2009 21:58

With Dizzy and Sazzles AWOL things get quiet.

I'm around but not committed to the internet. I need to figure out dinner.

Glad you had a good Cyteen.

MiamlaMwahHahahahahaaaaaaa · 19/10/2009 22:31

sazz your ramblings on sat morning made me smile!

oops hmmm, your DH has had a titanic sale before hasn't he? i'm getting a strong deja-vu!

steak i'm with you on not being able to give up tea! i'd prefer a sore throat than a headache induced by a lack of caffeine!
i'm with you on the teeth being set on edge... DS gnaws on mugs!
how's your manflu doing?

ann did you do your week of not drinking? if yes, are you now ready to try other things?

cc oooh, hope you had a lovely weekend sans littlies. That's fantastic news about dsis...6mths? wow!

lwfh your message to me about the oranges really made me laugh! i read it out to DP and he was suitably amused too!
right, in answer to your questions....
normal orange (DP accidentally bought mandarins so Ds has had half a mandarin tonight instead, he only had half because he refused to eat anymore. so i'll let you know after tonight if half a mandarin has the same effect!)
I cut the peel off with a knife and then cut it into segment shaped bits. he doesn't seem to like the texture of the skin on the outside but its ok in the middle of a segment (hope this makes sense!)
he has a savory bit of meal ie casserole, pasta etc, then he has two rusks soaked in milk and then i give him the orange. so all this is in his highchair
we then go into the living room for a 10min play and then straight upstairs. clean teeth. nappy. pyjamas.gro-bag. story. he then turns the light off (he loves this bit). he then has a bf and into cot awake. usually asleep within 10mins. i sometimes stay until he's asleep, sometimes not
with the orange, i haven't had a case when he hasn't wanted to eat the whole thing (he'll eat all of it even if i've had trouble convincing to eat the rest of his dinner)
and yes its very much like the dice man

once he's in his cot, that's it, he stays in it until he gets up for the day. we have a cuddle by him standing in the cot and me kneeling on the floor next to him ie we cuddle with the side of the cot inbetween us
oh and he only has one nap (usually starts at 10 for approx 2 hrs)

hots sorry to hear you've had such a horrible weekend. how are you feeling now?

no1 busker evening sounds like fun! so pleased sleep with DS is going so well (really hope i haven't jinxed it now for you!!)

cyteen sounds like a lovely day all round. happy birthday to your DP

news from the miamla household... i bumped into an old school friend on friday and he put his finger up my bum! oh yes, a guy i was good friends with at school is now my GP! oh joy!

right, i'd better post this before i lose it all! hi and sorry to everyone i didn't do a personal message to!

MiamlaMwahHahahahahaaaaaaa · 19/10/2009 22:32

woah! that was a fairly large one!

poppysocks · 19/10/2009 22:40

Have been here but no chance to post. Can't remember much of what I've read but do know that lots of and sympathy for maison hotter. Sounds horrid. Hope your night away is restful if not fun-fiilled.

Sorry for everything else I've missed.
Had an extremely afternoon with the nursery who summoned me to say that DD2 has conjunctivitis and she'd need to be off for the rest of the week. 1. This is a really really busy time for me at work and I can't afford to be off 2. She just has a slightly gunky eye. DH has stepped up and will be off with her tomorrow but still really annoyed as she's fine and just has a snotty nose that she keeps wiping upwards. Grrr. And deep breath.

On the upside I have booked my first trip away from the girls since DD2 was born AND it coincides with the mooted 28th Nov. meet-up.

And I'm meeting up with dizzy and Sazzles on Wednesday.

dizzydixies · 19/10/2009 22:54

lol, evening Poppy!! cunning plan for Wed is Carnie presuming weather plays nice - the Sazzles et al going to head to St Andrews on Fri as we're down in Glasgow for the Fleetwood Mac concert on Thurs night so hoping youre about then too

hello all else - am loving having the happy Sazzes here, they are just a joy and Mr Sazz has stolen the heart of my DD1 who is just mooning about after him

we spent today at the science centre but the weather threatening to let us down, deer park tomorrow hopefully and then meeting up with the Poppettes on Wed

the mini Sazzinis aren't playing nice with the sleeping through and my lot were playing silly buggers too but lovely company, nice Chinese meal and some vino before they headed off home with two sleeping children (hopefully for the night)

MiamlaMwahHahahahahaaaaaaa · 19/10/2009 22:58

aah that sounds lovely dizz

yay because poppy's coming to town

dizzydixies · 19/10/2009 23:08

am off that weekend in Nov too could you not have your meet up here

MidnightSlayer · 20/10/2009 00:03

YAY!

just felt like joining in.

Snotmonster · 20/10/2009 04:04

Hi all. Just back from weekend in Macau with Mum & Dad. We had a lovely time. DS was great and entertained everyone including nearly being kidnapped by about 20 Chinese people on a tour - they all wanted to have their photos taken with him as I don't think they'd ever seen a blue eyed blond(ish) boy before!

He's still waking ridiculously early in the morning. This morning it was 4am. He slept for a little while longer in my arms but was up at 5am for the day. I was expecting longer as we only put him to bed at 9pm when we got back from the airport plus he slept for 2 hours on the plane. I would love to try Miamla's orange trick but the only fruit DS seems interested in is apples which he now demands regularly saying 'pul' 'pul'.

FWIW I think the DHs/DPs would prefer the

steaknifethroughtheheart · 20/10/2009 08:27

hello.

Bleugh and I wasn't expecting that.
MAnflu still here and AF has decided to visit.

DD lots lots better. She slept 6 till 4.45 had a cuddle and grumbled for a couple for an hour or so then slept for another hour and a bit. I refuse to get up before 7.

Ooh just checked out the flybe site what with all this meet up talk. From Exeter I can fly to....
Dublin
Belfast
Glasgow
Aberdeen
Edinburgh
Newcastle
Leeds Bradford (didn't they used to be two places?)
Manchester
Norwhich

'sposed to be cheap as chips. So who is where?

Hots oh dear, how nasty for you and all those in the HP household. I do hope you all get better soon.

can't remember anything else. I'm ill!

VintageGaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahdenia · 20/10/2009 09:28

poppy how frustrating! That sense of having tons to do, with a deadline looming, and then passing, and not being able to get to it builds like some sort of volcanic indigestion in your stomach. I am only too familiar with it! And it's hard because when your child is sick you feel so badly for them at the same time and you are just torn. If dd's eye is just sticky could you call the nursery and say it's just a sticky eye can I bring her back? Sorry rather weak advice.

steaky sorry you're still sick, come to Dublin to recuperate if you need to!

It's raining and dark and cold and windy here, a dismal preview of winter after a couple of dry bright weeks with fabulous Halloween colours.

Glad you are having fun with the Sazzles family dizzy! And lucky you snotser on Macao! Must be fab having the grandparents with ds .

hots hope you are soon feeling better.

cyteen sounds like a lovely birthday for daddy!

Here, ds has gone daddy-crazy. I mean obviously he always adored him but he has started actually jumping out of my arms into dp's at the first opportunity! I am trying not to be offended! It's lovely to see how he longs for his dad (and most gratifying for dp too of course) and I am trying to take consolation in his first kiss (ds's that is...) - a proper one with pursed lips and a smacker sound, pressed up on my face . I don't think it was an expression of love, just an imitation, but still, you takes what you can!

UndeadLentil · 20/10/2009 10:56

Of course it's love.

Though dd2 now knows that 'goodnight' means kisses, and when we read it in a story she dutifully got up and went round the room like Pavlov's dog kissing everyone.

I have, to borrow a phrase from dd1, got rucksacks under my eyes because DD1 has a terrible croupy cough at night at the mo, dd2 is coping badly with a very runny nose and I have a work deadline on Friday which means I am up working till the small hours.

Still, dd1 is at playgroup this morning and dd2 is mercifully happy doing her own thing . And all three children are in very good form, thank God.

I have been hoovering under the sofa cushions. There is another universe in the crumbs created since last Tuesday. How does that happen?

VG, did you see the Apprentice last night? I feel a bit sad that the gang here are missing out on the hoffmeister ...

Has ds's school situation been sorted out yet? Forgive brain sieve-iness.

OP posts:
VintageGaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahdenia · 20/10/2009 11:04

Yes perhaps I'll tell myself it's love! He actually learned it through kissing pictures of dogs...

Yes to dp's utter disgust I watched the breffmeister and mates, so glued to it that I knitted about 8 rows incorrectly and will have to spend about 2 hours unpicking etc! God they are hilarious. And when it ends I presume we have the British version to look forward to too?

Re. school we have 1 option for Jan / 2 options for Sept 2010 and 2 options for Sept 2011 (for senior), so in a good place now & just have to figure out what the best combination strategy is overall, least disruption, best solution long term, etc etc, it's difficult but at least we have a choice now.

You are working hard atm? Am wondering about doing a PhD actually, might email you with questions in a few weeks, not sure am I considering for right reasons or just because I like studying!

UndeadLentil · 20/10/2009 11:18

Breffmeister of course.

God be with the days when this brain was a finely-honed machine.

It's good to hear there are options for DS. Sorry things haven't worked out where he is now.

I'd be delighted to chat re the phd thing. I promised you info on that ages ago I think. Sorry for being so disorganised.

The work I'm doing is part of DH's English job which he sub-contracts out to me unofficially. I have to take a book in word document form and convert it into print-ready copy using tricky adobe software. I'm indexing at the mo and it is just slow ...

Still it will help to pay for the extension. I need to keep this in mind instead of grumbling about lack of sleep. I'm doing a 9-1 shift on it after the children are in bed and the pots/toys have been cleared.

OP posts:
BucketsOfBlood · 20/10/2009 11:18

Much cuteness going on here.

Yesterday on the sofa Kurt called 'Lyyyyyra' stood up and balanced for 2 seconds. How cute is that, doing it to impress his sister! I think the sofa makes him feel more secure bizarrely, because he can grip his little monkey toes better.

If I say 'kisskiss' to Kurt he very cutely leans his head on me and says 'aaaah' (which is also his response to 'cuddle' but beggars can't be choosers.

Steaky We now staying down Ivybridge way next week but you may get a txt from me to see if you are free for a peestop on our way home, Thurs or Fri perhaps. Oh you are blessed! Don't know when yet, depends on whether I can subliminally get my mum to have the idea that Kurt stay with her the whole time.

TS We are having a trailer trash gettaway! Actually could be grim as in a field next to some old couple's house and weather is predicted wet and windy.

CaptainCaveman · 20/10/2009 11:38

flying by - having today off instead of fri. O has decided he only needs 30 mins sleep this morning, thus cutting my mn cleaning time down by at least an hour!!

MidnightSlayer · 20/10/2009 12:27

Hi
Caught up in a birth over here. Very exciting.

Red I have rucksacks too. DD1 had a tantrum from Hades at 5am. She's done this twice this week. Yes, I realize it's only Tuesday. DH is giving her a speech now about wake up times. Instead of fighting with her I moved her out of the way, shut and locked the bedroom door. I told her she could fuss all she wanted but I was going to sleep! Twas all fine until she woke Reese and let her out of her bed.

Off to check other internet business.

Winibaghoul · 20/10/2009 13:35

hello ladies.
humph. This sleep business is absolutely crap. I'm going to ask MIL if P can stay over at hers for a few nights so I can take drastic action. We can't carry on like this. Wakeups last night: 1.30; 2.30; 3.30;4.30;5.30;6.30 each one involved at least 10 minutes of paddy throwing as well. I think he actually was only sleeping about 40 minutes at each stretch, with 20 minutes of trying to settle him again between each. P got very frustrated, he must be knackered at work today. Now, Seb not only has to have the booby to be settled, he has to have the RIGHT booby and even then, it's not guaranteed to get him back off.
ho hum.
Oh well off to do a bit of cleaning.

no1putsbabyinthecorner · 20/10/2009 13:49

wini so sorry for your rough night.
I too had the night from hell, after nearly 2 weeks of ds sleeping through.

I went from dds room to ds room back and forth between them ALL night. It was absolutley ridiculous. I was so tired I felt sick so I gave ds some milk, which sent him off straight away for a short while.

I finaly got back in bed at 6.30am jut as dh was getting up for work.
We then slept in till 8.40am when dd came in and said 'mummy I wet through'
Do not even ask how I got us all dressed and out the door and to preschool for 9am.

Do not feel human at all yet, even after 2 cups of tea. off to catch up..

BucketsOfBlood · 20/10/2009 14:01

Oh guys, what a nightmare.
Ann Sounds like a good plan, what drastic action are you going for?

I really need to get off the computer and start converting an old pillowcase into PJ-style trousers so DS1 can dress up as Eve on Friday.

Winibaghoul · 20/10/2009 14:26

buckets I'm thinking of going cold turkey on the night feeds (I'm debating whether or not to just stop bf altogether) Also trying to impose a routine - set bedtime etc. I'm hoping that MIL might agree to help for the first night or two, but I'm not going to count on that. I need to do this regardless. We just can't carry on like this - P and I are both knackered and not getting enough sleep. I think it's time to stop faffing and take decisive action.

SazZaVoom · 20/10/2009 14:53

Afternoon all, just popping on quickly to reassure all of you who may have been worried , that we have not been murdered by any Scottish Hairy Truckers . Quite the opposite in fact, we have been made very welcome, unashamedly stolen borrowed pushchairs, blankets, waterproofs and comandeered the tumble drier

DizzyMan treated us to a lovely chinese last night (shhh, don't tell the Hotmamas) and DH is pretending to be Masterchef cooking us a meal tonight from his new Hugh Fearnley book. dizz is currently in the kitchen baking some lovely lemon curd muffins and i suspect all i shall manage is some quick cook pasta for the DC's tea

wini I hope you do manage to get a run of nights to help sort DS's routine and stop night feeds, and manage to get MIL's help. We have had a few bad nights since we have been away but at least i know i can get DH to do his bit and we are alternating lie ins

poppY we are working on a plan for tomorrow and will text you. DH and i were going to come over to St Andrews on Fri so would be lovely to do something else tomorrow, but we can always switch it round as the weatherforecast is shitey mcshite.

Sorry must go DD2 awake in the car

no1putsbabyinthecorner · 20/10/2009 15:33

ooooh lemon curn muffins. mmmmmmmmmmmmm

glad you are having a good time.

wini sounds like a good plan, tbh it only worled for me when I stopped night feeds. I have just seen two new teeth in ds.
at the back top.
Now feel awful as this is prob why he has been whingi as hell lately. Especially last night.
will be giving teetha powder.

OOOOOOOOOOOpsacoconut · 20/10/2009 15:45

Sazzles - we were worried about you the thread has barely moved a page since you went away!

mmm muffins mmm

I left DD downstairs in the sitting room earlier whilst I went up to the loo and came back to find her shredding DH's new game manual and a pack of wipes. She very kindly brought me all the bits nad offered kisses in return.

The tiler is just grouting out hall way and is almost done in the kitchen - this is the worlds slowest worker so a goo thing we agreed a job price not a day price. He has done an amazing job though.

DD yelling a me now - back later.
