wow Simps hope you're having a good time.

Hibernating here, should have been out at friends in Newcastle but a big wet snowflake storm hit earlier and then it promptly went several degrees below so the whole outside has turned into an ice rink. -8 tonight apparently. Was driving round delivering cards yesterday and did a bit of car ice skating which was quite alarming. Did not mention to DH!

Right, Weds JKS: will be thinking about you all day. MM what a brilliant friend you are .

Lily that was soooo rubbish compared to the last series. I totally don't understand the thinking behind selection process because none of them were all that this year.

Let's see what the night brings, DS managed to stay in his bed till 6am last night for th first time in weeks. We then brought him in for snuggle and the next thing we knew it was 8.45am . Has therefore been completely out of routine all day .

Hope you're having fun with all your boys G.

LaT are you feeling better? Colds bad news in the still sick and tired phase (even though I think, but can't remember for sure, the HG hasn't materialised with same force?) I do recall getting to about 14-15 weeks and feeling like a cloud had lifted, so hope you get to that stage soon...

simpson · 20/12/2009 11:59

Creeps in quietly clutching head..

No shouting please!!!

gingeme · 20/12/2009 12:56

Take it was a good night then Simpson
I am feeling all excited about Christmas now the boys are all here
ds2 took ds3 out on our car park this morning. It is like a skating rink out there. Bit scary watching the cars slide in and out
All in now in the warm. Going to watch Astro Boy soon. Whatever that is

madmouse · 20/12/2009 14:47

Oh Simps what did I say about being a respectable mother - you should have listened - I am sure it was worth it! x

OP posts:
JustKeepSparkling · 20/12/2009 19:30

Thanks everyone

Simps was it a fun night?

G - sounds fun at yours with 5 boys for Christmas! Are 1&2 staying for actual Christmas?

H doing fine - mostly. the chest infection is clearing, he hardly needs the oxygen anymore and he ate food this evening
but...he's doing this frantic/manic thing where he's jsut abut asleep then leaps up (as much as he can) and tries to stand/climb out of the cot/etc. All highly NOT recommended!!!
We end up restraining him and he shouts & cries and it's horrid.
He's had some 'calming' meds today and may have more later if he carries on - though he's asleep right now.

More tests done today, poss more tomorrow. the EEG techs spend ages here - they are a nice bunch thankfully.

meanwhile DH 'sneaked' in a can of beer for us to share and i'm taking my time over my half

LilySwalLoosHerTurkeyBaster · 20/12/2009 19:32

JKS enjoy it ....

madmouse · 20/12/2009 20:11

JKS pleased to hear H is doing ok with his chest and that he is eating.

This frantic/manic thing seems to be H saying help I want to go home - he must be confused poor chap. Life is confusing enough for him anyway without this hospital madness.

Enjoy your half beer. Hope it helps you sleep.

Just back from carols by candle light. Nathan fell asleep on dh's lap and then slept on my shoulder for the rest of the service. Somehow seemed very appropriate and was most cute. Woke up in the car but not very much so has gone to bed after just nappy change - not even teeth brush. Bad mummy, but it just didn't seem fair on him. Peaceful now, little man asleep and dh not back yet.

gingeme · 20/12/2009 22:42

JKS enjoy your berr [hsmile] sorry to put a downer on things but it breaks my heart to think of your baby being distressed and so confused. I dont think I could cope nearly as well as you seem to be. I was bad enough when David had his tonsils and adenoids out. My hat goes off to you and your wonderful DH
Yes my big boys are here for actual Christmas. I think ds1 is the most excited out of all of them
Are you ok Simpson? I hope your dc are letting you rest.

JustKeepSparkling · 21/12/2009 14:12

Lily - i did

Madm - i know. i think he woke up properly yesterday, realised he was somewhere very scary and wanted out!
Carols sounds lovely

G - you aren't putting a downer on things. the truth is this is a scary & stressful time, for us & H. But every time i think 'wouldn't we be better off at home?' i remind myself that a) he won't remember any of this & b) it really will be worth it.

We were both nervous wrecks when T had a GA for his testicle-descending op. Your 'normal' shifts...what was the way MadM described it? You 'recalibrate'.

Hope you've everything needed for such a big Christmas then!? bet your big boys eat you out of house & home if they're anything like my brothers were at that age.

Well H is sitting up in a highchair having had a huge lunch
He's not really drinking enough yet but the nurse is giving him a few hours off the drip to see if he will get thirsty, then he won't need it back on.

Oh and he managed to kick out both cannulas in his foot last night & another one just now! monkey.

Got chatting to the mum in the room next door - similar story though her DS's fits have been controlled by drugs so far.

Otherwise, i'm looking forward to my off duty night later, yey

gingeme · 21/12/2009 14:33

That is so good to hear JKS glad he is eating well. Nice drop of juice for him later then?
Yes the big boys do eat loads. They have only been here since Saturday and weve had to shop again today
I just wish this snow would melt away now. Raining now so it will be even more slippery under foot.
We are going to visit DH eldest son tomorrow. Its his birthday on boxing day so he gets double presants [hgrin]
Right going to cut ds's hair now. Bit like sheep shearing !!
Hope everyone else is well xx

madmouse · 21/12/2009 15:02

Ginge - have a fab time with them all. You can always feed them baked beans for Christmas lunch

JKS yey that is good to hear. Does he drink much less than usual or less than they like to see? Just saying because Nathan is a very small drinker and I am sure someone in hospital would have something to say about it.

Enjoy your night of especially knowing that H is doing as well as he can.

Recalibrate - oh yes. Something massively awful happens and you are shocked and a few days later you carry on again with a new perception of what is normal. Because you have no other options. Have had a few of those myself in the past few years

but...

since last night in the Carol Service I have had this subtle but real realisation that I have turned a corner and I am on my way back up. A real hope again that things will be ok and beautiful again. So put a really un-mm like sentimental message on fb to all my wonderful friends. I know I still have a way to go but that doesn't matter

OP posts:
LaTurkey · 21/12/2009 17:01

Madmouse - that is very good to hear.

JKS - Please be all you you you!

Have read all and glad things seem to be heading in the right direction. Hope H is feeling more settled. HE won't remeber it and it is, as you know, the best thing for him. Lots of cyber hugs to you all.

Only brief as cold turned into full-blown something nasty. Have been in bed for three days asleep. Felt appallnig but slowly better. DH's visiting friend stuck here because he was supposed to be on Eurostar. He now won't see his girlfriend until April. (He lives in Martinique; she in PAris)They've done a marvellous job with Sabela but poor DH is exhausted. He's crashed on the sofa with DD on his chest now. I'm being quiet and waiting to take DD as soon as she wakes.

House TOTAL chaos. Don't suppose it matters.

JustKeepSparkling · 21/12/2009 20:53

Evening everyone

Madm - he normally drinks a lot more than he has been doing so he is down on fluids, they were planning to hook him up again this evening but with 50% of the amount instead of the full amount.
Yey for feeling you are turning a corner

LaT - poor you hope you are feeling much better now, sine flu do you think? And you poor friend, such a nightmare trying to travel atm.

G - my brothers seemed to have bottomless stomachs in their teenage years!!

Having a lovely evening with red wine, chocolate & Prison Break (PIL lent us the whole series on dvd as we never watched it).

LaTurkey · 21/12/2009 21:07

Sabela now vomiting! We have had so little of this (Thanks God) it's like we have a newborn. We are terrified! We've been on the phone to MIL four times already. I'm sleeping in her room. I hope I do get some sleep!

No, not swine flu. No temeprature. Enjoy your evenng JKS.

mixedmamameansbusiness · 22/12/2009 13:49

Seasons greetings ladies.

I saw MM post about the catching up etc so am not going to say anything about that.

JKS - have been monitoring the FB statuses and glad H seems to be responding well. Prison Break is great, DH gets the whole of each last series every Xmas from my DB and I get Desperate Housewives.

Filly & LaT - pregnant and due at the same time. Big big Congrats to you both. We are on a TTC mission, didnt happen this month but have given it two months to fit in with uni otherwise will leave it will about Oct.

Ange/Lily - I know this convo is over but the Restaurant was soooo rubbish this time and I cannot believe that they won. Shambolic.

MM - pleased to see you are feeling like things are on the up, you deserve it.

News here:

DS1 starting school in Sept so have beens tressing myself out with schools etc. Cant believe my baby is getting so big.

DS2 talking loads, moving to the toddler room at nursery, he is involved in everything and copies everything his big bro does. He has an awful cough that we cant seem to shift. We have an inhaler to help as he is quite wheezy but am convinced there is more to it, but he seems fine in himself.

Havent thought about tackling potty training yet, well done Nicky. I am coming under increasing pressure from my mum and the nursery have mentioned it.

Completed my first term of uni as most of you may know, very pleased with my first module results and am buoyed up and ready to go for January.

Big kisses all round. I hope to get on again but incase my promises are once again empty have a great xmas and new year.

LilySwalLoosHerTurkeyBaster · 22/12/2009 16:43

Well done on the uni stuff MMama , good to see you back

JKS glad you seem to be getting chance to relax whilst all this going on. All systems go for tom then ? Much much love and prayers to H and the rest of you!!!

Mm am so pleased to read that , i do hope you have !!!!

Still snowing here have really had enough of it. Have managed to bring the remainder of my shopping home via sledge as well as two massive boxes from my papmered chef party last week. Delivery drivers won't even come anywhere near house!!
Looks like we won't get our visitors on Christmas day or make it to il's for boxing day either Still will have good time anyway and festivities with family will have to wait until next week!

LilySwalLoosHerTurkeyBaster · 22/12/2009 16:45

Sorry cut and paste last post and some missing!

LaT so sorry to hear you have been feeling so bad and now S hope she feels better for xmas day!

Ginge lol , i did my big xmas shop last week and had to get more today as ds eating like a horse at the minute!!

LaTurkey · 22/12/2009 17:58

Mixedmama - I was just thinking about you today! Nice to hear from you.

Lily - Remind me where you are? Hope everything runs smoothly.

We seem to be over the worst so we're planning to travel tomorrow. Sabela hasn't vomited today. She has slept alot but seems reasonably perky. Maybe it's madness but I want to go home for Christmas and our tickets are booked. Seven hour journey!

simpson · 22/12/2009 23:08

sorry not been on much

All been ok here just busy

Just want to wish JKS and H all the best for tomorrow.
