oops...and LaT - welcome to the June thread...delighted I get to do this with you all over again!! There's plenty of very sick ladies on there at the moment, so come along and moan away

madmouse · 17/12/2009 11:30

Filly you are fine - even if you lost weight baby would be fine. Baby takes what it needs from you anyway.

Ask LaTrucha she was sick for 9 months and managed to grow Sabela. Our bodies are amazing

The queen of worry and anxiety says don't worry xx

Doing a bit better in myself - no longer feel so anxious that I want to die. I think Nathan's glands are starting to come down so i am postponing visit to docs until after the weekend in the distinct hope it won't be needed.

Praying for H and JKS today - first operation of tow today. She was in good spirits last night - easier to cope now things are finally happening. All being well off to see them tomorrow.

Afternoon ladies.
All well here today
We went to Davids late parents evening last night. We are very very pleased with his progress so far. His teacher said she had been teaching year 1 for four years and has never met such a fluent reader !
George stood still earlier and pulled at his nappy and said 'wee wee' mmmm.....

LaTurkey · 17/12/2009 14:05

Just quickly for now -

Filly - no need to worry. Baby will take what it needs. It's you that you should worry about feeding up because it will deplete any reserves you have!

I had LOST 5kilos at this point last time. . No adverse affect on Sabela.

JustKeepSparkling · 17/12/2009 20:30

Hi all, popping in quickly just to update & say hi.

H is fine, so far. Had his grids put in this morning, and hooked up to the monitors this afternoon. Kindly performed some seizures later on

(there is a very remote possibility that if they get enough info they could bring the second op forward so we are wishing for lots of seizures....!)

Looking forward to seeing Madm tomorrow - though am worried about the weather forecast...

He did have a slight temp this evening so bloods taken and sent off to check for infection

Surgeon popped by to say all went well.

Just the long-haul of monitoring and keeping H comfortable for now - on morphine, paracetamol & neurofen + anti-sickness too. poor thing. also knackered as he won't sleep properly so a couple of days down on naps.

Connection not great in hosp so hope i can keep you updated.

LilySwalLoosHerTurkeyBaster · 17/12/2009 21:11

Ginge great news about David

MM give JKS all my love and let her know we are thinking of her.

JKS great to see your update and that H is managing to get through it. Thinking of you all xx

Have snow , dc's been out in it from tea until bed. Not sure if they will get to school tom if we get anymore!

simpson · 17/12/2009 21:20

Lilyloo - J most upset we have not had any yet. Well none thats asettled anyway.

I hear him very early in the morning getting out of bed to check out of the window

JKS- thinking of you all, thanks for update!!

simpson · 17/12/2009 21:22

JKS - forgot to say hope madmouse brings you lots of cake tomorrow

madmouse · 17/12/2009 21:37

oh yes, brownies for JKS, pasta in white sauce for H all packed and ready.

OP posts:
simpson · 17/12/2009 22:00

sounds yum!!

LilySwalLoosHerTurkeyBaster · 18/12/2009 10:41

Dc's school shut today , we have already been sledging and made a snowman and are back in getting warm!

fillybuster · 18/12/2009 10:49

Gingeme - clever David! You must be very proud

JKS - I fb'ed you last night - hopefully we can meet up soon...just give me a list of anything useful I can bring with me (along with extra brownies, of course )

LaT - thanks for the reassurance...I know i'm being a bit silly worrying about this, and I'm sure i'll be bitching about weightloss in 6 months time or so, but its just a bit weird after piling on the pounds in the previous pgs...

Lilyloo - my dcs are also home today...makes working a bit hard though...had to bunk off to build a snowman this morning ....although the snow isn't very sticky here, so its more of a snowman-mountain with a face built in

simpson · 18/12/2009 10:51

J's school is open but he breaks up at 2pm today so planning to make snowman in front garden when he comes back.

M not impressed with the snow and keeps saying "cold"

gingeme · 18/12/2009 15:39

Snow bleurgh hate it. Not alot here in London though so David went into school. Which Im glad because he had presants to give to teachers
All sounds quite positive JKS you are all coping so well by the sounds of it. MM brownies sound yum.
Edward wanted to build a snow man at 7am in his pyjamas He had his playgroup party today and came home high on e numbers
George had his party too. Didnt want to wear his cracker hat but loved the stickers from it.
Hybernating this weekend. My big boys are coming on Sunday for 10 days
Well time for a cuppa to warm me up. xx

LaTurkey · 18/12/2009 15:53

I'm so glad I'm not in the South EAst. I loathe snow. Hope it all looks nice outside the window from your nice cosy rooms all you Southerners.

JKS - I hope he obliges!

Rotten with cold here. Sabela crying out in her sleep last night. Just enough to wake me up so feeling very sorry for myself today.

We shgould be given a break from bugs, shouldn't we Filly? I always think that about my Dad when he has a cold. You'd think cancer patients would be spared a stupid bug.

Going to do cosy things with Sabela this afternoon. And I'm going to try not to have Ceebeebies on! Too much lately. Though we did go to dance / singing class today

AngeChica · 18/12/2009 18:49

hope you have had a good day madmouse and JKS

madmouse · 18/12/2009 19:43

Hi all, back home. Left at 4.45 this morning and got to London fine despite the snow and back again too - coach early both ways, very impressed as always with National Express.

I will leave the Henry updates to JKS so she can write what she wants to. But it was so good to spend time with them and also to meet Mr JKS who is very nice - as you would expect

I think all three of them are dealing very well with the situation (I think JKS will frown at me a lot if I say they are very brave but they are)and H looked very endearing with his huge bandage turban.

OP posts:
LilySwalLoosHerTurkeyBaster · 18/12/2009 21:23

Thanks for letting us know how it went MM
Bless H in his bandage turban

simpson · 19/12/2009 12:21

glad you managed to meet up JKS and Madmouse

Have got a kid free night tonight

My mum is coming to get kids later, don't know what time but ASAP as M driving me up the wall

She will have them overnight and I am going out dancing!!!

gingeme · 19/12/2009 12:36

Simpson. Enjoy x
Thanks Madmouse for the update. Cant imagine what they are ging through.
LaTurkay how was your evening with your gorgeous daughter? Fun I hope. Did you manage to catch the Cbeebies panto? It was great fun
Well George just had a mega tantrum in Asda and all the little old ladies smiled sweetly and tried to chat to him which made him scream louder . All simply because he had to get back in the trolley while we were paying for our shopping!!
Ah well thats nearly 2 year olds for you such angels. Im sure you would agree Simpson

JustKeepSparkling · 19/12/2009 12:57

Hi everyone - grabbing a rare quiet moment to catch up.

Madmouse - brownies are fab - esp for breakfast

H still not up to eating solids yet, had some ice-cream yesterday and hoping to try yoghurt later. Somehow he manages white choc buttons though !

Well we had a rubbish night, he has a chest infection and ticks enough boxes to alert possible swine flu
Will get results back in an hour or so (supposedly) and my money's on negative, again.
Meanwhile the docs/nurses look entertaining in their duck-beak masks

So his breathing is not what it should be, he needs to keep his oxygen mask nearby, he has a sore throat and panics when he coughs (as MM saw yesterday).

They requested a chest & next x-ray about 3am.

back later, consultant here...

madmouse · 19/12/2009 14:18

JKS that's the second day you've had them for breakfast [failed attempt at stern look]!!!

They were meant as a treat - had I known this I would have brought you Oat So Simple!

Seriously though - very unhappy that H is struggling so much, it's the last thing he needs. Anything that could delay the surgery is bad news and it is Really Not Nice for him to get so panicky like yesterday (yes panicked me too - I fled the room, one memory too many plus they did not need panicky me in there ).

Keep us posted as and when you can please xx

OP posts:
JustKeepSparkling · 19/12/2009 18:16

Lol Madmouse - but i wouldn't have eaten the Oats

Right, where was I?...

So, the annoying, pestery, interfering nurse that was on overnight (grr) ended up causing the chest & neck xrays - which showed nothing new - he had a blurry bit from infection on a previous xray.
Then she went on fiddling about all bloody night - i'll get over it soon, lol. DH is going to set her straight when she comes on duty later....

The surgeon came in at 8am and assured me that the swelling around his right eye & side of his neck was to be expected - no need for xrays!

Then the EEG techs did some testing this morning, and came back in the afternoon with our consultant for more tests. Mostly H didn't have to do anything, just lie there and let them see what reaction (ie what moved) to each electrical pulse. so they know exactly where the 'dodgy' bit starts & ends.

The consultant came back and was v upbeat - they have loads of data, and the tests gave lots of clarity.

DH & I popped round the corner for a lovely Italian late lunch

Then H's breathing calmed right down, by 4pm he was off the oxygen and breathing fine-ish. still on lots of ABs, plus some morphine + paracetamol. But improving.

What he really needs right now is SLEEP he's knackered and so many hours 'down' it's untrue. All the docs are agreed that nothing non-essential will be done tonight, esp if he's asleep. (sounds obv i know!)

So I am out of the hosp for the evening to watch Strictly & drink wine, yey.

More testing planned for tomorrow, then nothing specific for Monday (that we know of), then he'll be disconnected Tues afternoon for a quiet night, then the main op on Wed.

At the mo, there's plenty of time to get him over the infection for Wed to go ahead as normal, and he has to have the grids taken out at some point, so we are feeling positive

(sorry all me me!)

gingeme · 19/12/2009 20:38

JKS you have evry right to be like that. I must say it does sound very positive if it can be That nurse sounds a right pain in the bum
My big boys came this evening. Have already taken over with their Xbox George was so pleased to see them though. Kept cuddling ds2 Guess it makes a nice change than boring Mummy and Daddy.

LilySwalLoosHerTurkeyBaster · 19/12/2009 20:58

JKS despite H set back am so glad your post is so upbeat. I think this thread should be all you you you , given what you are going through esp at this time of year. All fingers crossed for surgery to go ahead as planned on Wed (fingers crossed emotion)

Simps have lovely night!

MM sounds like more brownies needed Glad you are feeling slightly better at the minute!
