Lilyloo - bought that pram set in Jan this yr I think

It is being replaced in attic by the dolls house which arrived the other day which looks lovely

Which she will get next Christmas.

gingeme · 06/12/2009 14:12

Well done all you organised ladies
Had a terrible night with David he was as sick as a dog poor love to the point where he was running on empty at about 4am !
Started about 10pm He seems fine today busy bossing his brothers about as usual
We have just been to Matalan. Because we cant hang anything from our ceiling as its cement I have bought a cut out santa and scene. Im planning to put them on the wall in our hallway. A santa in his sleigh with reindeer and penguins We also bought all the party stuff for Georges birthday. Oceon theme this year with hats and streamers and balloons

simpson · 07/12/2009 14:26

Gingeme - poor david How he he now??

Well, have just offered M her first drink from soft spouted bottle/beaker type thing and emphasised "big girl bottle" etc and she seems rather taken with it..

Have got Xmas party at toddler group tomorrow which is fancy dress and totally failed to find M a costume today. Grrr

MrsMcJnr · 07/12/2009 18:34

Sorry for being AWOL, I even lost you off my posts

Been having a hard time with Aaliyah not sleeping at night. DH offered to do the graveyard shift last night as we think because she is drinking a lot of milk at night she is not having enough during the day so it is a vicious circle with night waking. Sadly it didn?t work DH forgot to wake me up for a late feed and so Aaliyah woke at 1.30am and screamed the place down until I heard her and then went through, fed her and spent until 3.15am trying to settle her and then she slept until 6am. She seems to have had more milk today and has had more food so we will see what the night brings. She is asleep in bed early tonight as both she and DS were tired due to lots of playing and short naps. It?s such a shock to the system after DS sleeping through from 8 weeks. I now see that it was quite handy that he?d take a bottle from a young age. Maybe if I have a 3rd child I?ll reach a happy medium!

Today is a holiday, well what?s called a ?Puente? (bridge) because 6th was Constitution Day and tomorrow is the Feast of the Immaculate Conception. Lovely to have DH around for 4 days to help out. He?s gone to football tonight; think he was needing a break!

When should I think about potty training Xavier? How many of you have started or have them out of nappies? And how about bottles? Have yours been weaned off? Xavier still has 3 bottles a day; first thing, nap time in the afternoon and bed. He won?t drink cows? milk either so it costs me a fortune in formula (equivalent to £16 a box)

How are you all? Will read back and find out

gingeme · 07/12/2009 19:37

Oh MrsMcJnr fun isnt it? No way is George even ready to start potty training yet though he does say wee wee and lift the seat up sometimes but no thsi is not a sign
He has literaly just started drinking cows milk now too. Two days ago in fact. Lovely when you can have DH round for a few days isnt it?
Simpson David was sick again last night but only once thank goodness and has eaten tiny bits of what he fancied today minus dairy. Seems ok but will still keep him off school tomm. George has a horrid cough now. Weve all had it so I guess he didn't want to feel left out
Hows M doing with her big girl bottle . Fingers crossed for you.

MrsMcJnr · 07/12/2009 19:58

Filly ? wow, you are superwoman, anyone would be exhausted after visiting 3 museums in one day never mind someone who is newly pregnant sounds like Tamara?s walking is coming on really well. I can?t let Xavier go anywhere on foot as he runs off and will not stop and I can?t catch him with DD in tow, he is very dangerous I am trying to teach him to ?freeze? but it?s not working yet. He loves those baby buggies he chose a dolly before Aaliyah was born, I thought it would help him adjust to her. He ignores the doll unless his friends play with it but he adores his sister so that?s fine!

Lilyloo ? this seems to be the Christmas of advent calendars for us. We have 4! Two cards and one bog one with pictures and a chocolate one. Xavier seems to understand that we open a window a day on all of them apart from the chocolate one which o have to hide before and after he?s had the chocolate or else he shouts ?more, more?. He is a little frightened of Santa when he has seen him so far ? maybe the 3 kings will have more appeal! Xavier is addicted to his dummy, more now than ever I think he is pretty addicted to his ?bobble? (bottle) too but he doesn?t have a favourite toy or anything. Good idea re the bubble wrap!

LaT ? glad you are feeling ok I know what you mean about Daddy being the favourite one, its ok though because my little one only wants me! Xavier is a really fussy eater, some days he hardly east anything, he does adore soup though have you read the Mumsnet guide to toddlers? It really makes you realise that you are not alone. I don?t offer alternatives but I do just give him the next part of the meal e.g. a yoghurt or a mandarin, he then often comes back to eat the first course. Xavier now points at my boob and says ?boob ? Aaliyah ? milk? and I always say ?yes, that is where Aaliyah gets her milk and when you were a baby you got your milk from Mummy too? he just nods and says ?bobble (Bottle) ? Daddy? as it is DH who gives him his morning and evening bottles. He does still put his hands down my top to touch my skin for comfort. I love listening to Xavier chatting away in his room ?after hours? I just wish I could see what he was doing without him knowing. I could hire out my DH as a midwife if you like

JKS ? love the sound of your Christmas next week what ?food? are you leaving for the reindeers? I?ve heard some people leave water and carrots and others oats with glitter in. When I was a kid we left a beer and a mince pie for Santa. Some people even do boot marks in flour don?t they? I love all these traditions hope Plan A works and of course I?ll be thinking of you all on 16th. What?s a balance bike?

Simpson ? glad the kids had a lovely time in Ireland and that they seem to have got over the whole ignoring the girl thing (that was your in-laws wasn?t it?) sorry to hear she suffered from eating something, hope that was the only episode. I wanted to get the decorations up today but DH has lost the key to our storeroom where they are all kept M?s speech sounds great!

Gingeme ? My Mum said she used to listen intently when we told ?Santa? what we wanted in the lead up to Christmas! I think the cake stalls are the best thing about fetes. Interesting about George and the milkshakes, I thought I?d try that tack with Xavier. Hope David is feeling better.

Angechica ? I feel for you with the violence towards the dog, Xavier is the same with the cat. He doesn?t mean to, there is no malice just over-enthusiasm and not knowing his own strength but I am not only sorry for her but very worried she?ll scratch or bite him one of these days. I keep showing him how to stroke her and telling him why he shouldn?t lash out at her but it doesn?t always seem to get taken on board. Hope DH?s interview went well.

Madmouse ? I?ve heard of that Toddler Taming book, that strategy sounds interesting, I?ll try it.

Nicky6 ? I?m pureeing everything in sight again too, my DD is not as enthusiastic as Xavier was but more seems to be going in at each meal.

nicky6 · 07/12/2009 20:24

wow mrsmc that was one hell of a post. noah hasnt quite grasped the swallowing part of eating food but early days.

charlie no bottles for over a year - she had gastric last october and didnt have milk then so no bottles and my mum said stop them now whilst she is not use to it - she did drink fine from a normal cup though.

charlie was potty trained in the summer - but only because she was pooing in her nappy and saying mummy done a poo poo change nappy, only reason i wasnt doing it was because noah was so little but in the end thought sod it and did it.

charlie chucking up all night poor little thing but fine today think she had food poisoning went to local christmas fayre and she had turkey skewer off bbq and dh thought it didnt looke cooked - i said oh it will be fine............ whoops.

tesco doing half price on some toys.

off for dinner -so worn out today x

JustKeepSparkling · 07/12/2009 20:26

Wow MrsMc - as usual your updates are fab!!

A balance bike is a bike without pedals, meant to make them get used to balancing without stabilisers, then they can go onto normal bikes more easily.

We used to just put out carrots but last year we had my niece here too and we moved onto a glitter+ oats+ carrots combo. think T added raisins and all sorts last year plus bowls of water that my sis and I carefully topped over later on!!!
Was thinking of the boot prints in flour actually!
Sherry & mince pie for DH Santa!

all ok here, just pootling along, waiting. H the same.

What a day

gingeme · 07/12/2009 22:13

I have posted Lilly xxxx for your baby girl

madmouse · 07/12/2009 22:57

Hi all

Lily for your little girl that must have been quite a drama. Hope it will work out ok.

Thanks for the mammoth update MrsMc x

Nathan has never drunk formula - went from boob to cow's milk at 11months and from boob to tommee tippee cup too - he made such a racket when approached by a bottle we gave up very soon. He still uses the Tommee Tippee cup. His portage teacher wants him to learn to drink independently from an open cup but not sure she realises how tricky that is for a boy who uses only one hand!

Nathan also still not speaking. He said cucumber once, and better, and he copies us but no words bar daddy really. Lots of chatter. Speech and language therapist referral in January....

Have not been posting much, had a brighter spell but things very much up and down again, so much to deal with. Cleaned the whole house today though, the dirt was dragging me down. Plan is to go back to work on 1 March if office not closed due to financial probs before that

Good to see more people posting again - was worried about this thread fo a bit.

xx

simpson · 08/12/2009 08:15

Lilyloo - have posted on thread. J did something almost identical at around 13mths.

I was devestated to think he would be gappy till around 6/7 but you get used to it!!

Well M very happy with big girl bottles (so far) but we had had the cup maybe 2hrs and she lost the lid on the way to pick up J from school

So bag to shop today to get another one, luckily only pound shop

Have found some cute fancy dress outfits in M&S so will check them out before party

fillybuster · 08/12/2009 10:25

Wow, great catch up from MrsMc ...sorry you're still not getting enough sleep, hopefully it will get better soon!

LaT - DS also used to lie in bed chatting away for up to an hour at a time (sometimes longer!), although now he's at school he crashes faster...and both dcs' do it in the mornings Tamara tends to 'zone' out as soon as she goes to bed at night, but will often spend an entire hour chatting quietly to her animals during her afternoon sleep time

Can't help with the bottles thing as both my dcs shifted to cups before 12 months and cows milk around the same time, then dropped the milk by 17 mo - it's water only here (with occasional watered down fruit juice or ribena for a special treat!) We shifted Tamara to 'open' cups last week and she (very surprisingly) just got on with it...but it helps that she wants to do everything like her big brother . Was great at the weekend when we went to visit my gps in Manchester and didn't have to take anything except nappies - she just drank out of a proper glass really nicely [proud if somewhat surprised emoticon]

The visit to my gps was lovely but very emotional - my gm has terminal cancer and that was definitely our very last visit...I was in floods of tears on the way home. But both dcs behaved like perfect ggc (hurrah) and my gps were in good form (grandma was having a 'good' day) so we had a lovely visit, for about 2.5 hours, which was way more than I was expecting. My gp had bought lovely presents for the children (he went with my dad to toyrus and phoned for advice...but they did well!). We showed my gps the scan pics and told them about bump #3 & took a bottle of champagne with to 'celebrate' (not that me or my gm could really drink much!) and a chocolate cake and candles so we could have a little early birthday celebration for her (birthday on 17th). All good, but upsetting at the same time - but lots of lovely photos

I've got a horrid tummy upset (same as you LaT?) and running to the loo every 30 mins....means I have to wfh and feel awful Not fun combined with still feeling sick the whole time

Gingeme - is David feeling better now? Poor boy...its horrid when the little ones get sick, isn't it?

Nicky - very very very impressed by charlie's potty training . Do you want to come and sort out Tamara in February? And how are plans for our meet up coming along? Any ideas yet?

MM sorry you were having a bad week....come on, get back up there

JKS - I left you a message on facebook about plans for next week/week after....get in touch!!

Lilyloo - I missed your ASOS offer Can you post a link to the LaRedoute one please? You are so the queen of the discount vouchers!! Off to read your other thread in a bit...

Ugh...feeling crap but had better go and do some work...xx

gingeme · 08/12/2009 12:19

Afternoon ladies.
Another rubbish night here David had a tiny bit of fish pie for his dinner last night and a digestive before bed. They all had a nice shower and went to bed as usual. George woke a couple of times coughing but put himself back to sleep. I went to bed at 11. Checked on the boys as usual before hand and all was well. Took me about an hour to get to sleep then about 12.30 I could hear David crying so I went into him and he said he wanted a drink so I went to the kitchen, came back to find he had been sick in his bed changed him, the bed, wiped the wall down and settled him back and he went straight back to sleep. In the mean time George was asking for 'go go' whatever that is and coughing his little head off DH sat with him for a while. We all got back to sleep about 2am. Apart from that all is well
I dont think anyone is going anywhere for a while. Except DH ofcourse hes just gone to work!!!

JustKeepSparkling · 08/12/2009 15:19

G - bad luck with last night. hope tonight is better. I went to bed at 9.30, nice and early. then woke at midnight for no reason. Then at 3am when one of the cats appeared (couldn't find him at bedtime to lock in the kitchen) and went downstairs, nearly setting off the (pet-friendly ) alarm. Took me ages to get back to sleep, in fact thought i had just shut my eyes when T appeared at 6.20.

Filly - sad trip to your gps, but good to have had the chance to go.
I can't see your message on FB, where did you put it?
Hope you feel better asap.

Simps - well done you and M with the cups

Madmouse - hope you're having a better, more up day

Lily - how horrible for you & her hope she's ok?

Otherwise, um, H the same, T fine, currently piling sofa cushions on the floor....DH really busy this week so lots of time on my own. I've got extra orchestra rehearsals as concerts (x 2) this weekend. Plus Sunday is Christmas Eve, did a big online shop - delivered today, got most things in to last a while. Though nanny did point out that i'd gone slightly overboard with dishwasher tablets....think i bought a total of 280...even twice a day, that's still over 4 months worth...

fillybuster · 08/12/2009 15:24

JKS - we run out of dishwasher tablets all the time, despite my regular bulk buying....but I am impressed at 280 . There should be a message from me in your inbox but I will try again tonight....blardy technology...

nicky6 · 08/12/2009 20:25

will sort meet up in new year.

filly re potty training am sure you are an old hand. we just stayed in the house for 3 days and by day 3 she had got it. then the usual accidnets etc but pretty good now by and large.

charlie very sweet trying to write the letter c and says c for charlie very cute.

up a from 1-3 with noah trying to stop his habitual 1am wake. we were feeding him but i am convinced its not a hungry wake, and having gone form sleeping 7-5 then feed and then til 7.30 he is now waking every 5hours yuk. i think partly because when charlie was ill and screaming in night he was woken up we couldnt get him back to sleep thought hungry and fed him so bit of a vicious circle. He also rolled over this week - oh how the time goes.

we are going toa wedding in devon at the weekend my mum coming to look after dc, first time left both - wish noah was sleeping a bit better as feel bad for my mum.

also went and had my hair cut off today !!!!!!!!!!!!!

hope everyone well still so much christmas shopping to do!

LuckySalem · 08/12/2009 21:07

I DID read it honestly I read it! lol Something with MN doesn't work for me sometimes so it takes me ages to post cos although I can read it if I write a message and then press post message the site just dies on me.

So anyways here's what I remember.

MrsMc - Feel for you with the sleeping. Aaliyah has such a bad belly at the mo and is awake at the strangest of times. With a sore bum, screaming. I'm sure its practise ready for when LO is born and I get no sleep!! lol

Ginge - Sorry to hear about David. Hope he gets better soon.

Potty training who asked? lol - DD is sooo close. She uses her potty during the day but hasn't worked out that knickers on means that she has to use the potty and thinks of them as nappies and just wees in em.
Bottles - Ali hasn't had a bottle since she turned 1. She has cups and since we started potty training she has open top cups so that it slows her fluid intake so she isn't on her potty ever 2 mins.

I'm really struggling at the mo due to tiredness I think so forgive me if I missed anything and I do still love you all.

madmouse · 08/12/2009 22:41

Hi all

Nathan's physio came today (as usual), she said she had a little walking frame returned from a little girl who did not get on with it and she is waiting for it to be collected by the rep from the manufacturer. But she would like Nathan to try it before it goes back and if it works he can have his own!!!!

It looks quite medical here but hey if it means he can race through the house and wherever he goes I don't care. His daddy had to swallow a bit..

But physio says he does not need it, he is still young for a child with cp to walk as well as he does but he is so keen to walk she wants to help him do that.

So tomorrow afternoon we will find out how he gets on with it - whether he can manage it. Will let you know

OP posts:
gingeme · 09/12/2009 11:34

All sounds very promising madmouse. If Nathan had one of those watch your toes I can just imagine him whizzing up and down with his gorgeous grin on his face
Well David had a goood night. No sick and had a small bowl of porridge for his breakfast today so les see. Edward returned to pre school today. He ran in and hugged his teacher so I think he missed it. George woke a couple of times though coughing and crying. Theres only so much Calpol you can give a 23 month old baby
My Dad is popping up later. Apparantly with 2 large black bags of Christmas presants. I think Ill have a word with Mum about them. Somewhere along the lines of 1 presant each next year
Lilly how is dd? I hope her face is looking a little less bruised today
I hope everyone else is fine. xxx

LaTrucha · 09/12/2009 14:20

Day of two halves here. Had a lovely time watching waves splashing against the harbour wall with Sabela. She was totally mesmerised and thought it was hilarious when we nearly got caught. Came home to find someone have been defrauding my bank/paypal account. Paypal are impossible to get hold of so bank looking into it for me. Just makes me feel really vulnerable. You never know what the bank is going to say. Makes me want never to use Paypal but can I give up ebay? Sabela will be naked!

Madmouse - If it works, he'd love dashing about with that, I'm sure.

Gingeme - I wish I had that problem Glad David feeling better.

Nicky / MrsMc- I am so not looking forward to those night wakings. Dreading it!

Sorry to all else. Going to go and recover from my banking heartattack!

nicky6 · 09/12/2009 21:40

poor you lat had my bank done a few years ago they moved £20000 which was the money from my flat and the deposit for the place i was buying was terrifying but luckily bank reimbursd as it was someone in house so it seemed - reassuring NOT.

Off to bed as Noah not well and hardly any sleep 2 nights in a row and charlie behaving like devil child today. Think naughty step is fun and informed me to tonight when i gave her an omelette for tea -" mummy I dont like this food I'll put itback" !!

wave to all

madmouse · 09/12/2009 22:20

Hi all

Well Nathan has had his test drive and there are some pics on facebook. At one point he raced all the way across the room so fast he scared himself and cried . When in a walker and not held by us you can see he does have problems walking, like planting his feet on top of one another and putting all his weight on one leg but the walker will help with that, he may need some straps round his ankles at first to teach him to keep his legs apart.

Now we wait for a rep from the supplier to come and see us for measurements and what he needs etc, that can take about 4 weeks, then 8 weeks for delivery. But it comes on loan from the NHS so we cannot grumble - the services here are good.

OP posts:
gingeme · 10/12/2009 09:15

And how did DH find it madmouse?
Sorry Nicky but I had to laugh at Charlys comment
Had a much better night apart from George crying from 7.30 - 10 because he heard DH come in from work at 7.45 still atleast he slept the rest of the night. David returned to school today too
Has everyone go their decs and trees up now? We will do ours Saturday.
Well the sun is shining for a change so I hope everyone is well xxx

AngeChica · 10/12/2009 13:42

Just to say hope your DD is ok Lily it must have been a horrible shock.

DS nap and bedtime have suddenly become a battle after no bother for many months. As he has discovered he can repeatedly get out of his bed and come back downstairs or into our room at night - like a jack in the box. We have put a stairgate on his bedroom door and he doesn't like it at all! We have to go into a kind of CC routine. The first night it took 45 mins but getting better now. Has just taken 30 mins to get him to nap. It feels slightly cruel but is probably essential for our continued sanity especially on work nights.

PS the dog thing working a treat thanks! In fact DS's only new word in a while is Oscar (the dog). His speaking is really bizarre as I sometimes think he has gone backwards - doesn't do animal noises any more for example or use other words that he used to know. But mainly I think he is being lazy - he knows how to get his message across in his own ways so why bother learning new? Although we try really hard to prompt him all the time!

Anyone heard from Fragolina I think her baby is due around now?
