Woohoo! Congratulations Ponymum. What a great prize

Why is it so quiet on here at the moment? I guess people are busy having/getting ready for their lo's birthday

MoonlightMcKenzie · 11/09/2009 17:14

It's my wedding anniversary. I'm alone. DH has to work late tonight due to all the time he has been taking off for various appointments with ds. Am I wrong to already be on the wine?

MoonlightMcKenzie · 11/09/2009 17:15

Congrats Ponymum!

Debs75 · 11/09/2009 17:18

Ponymum we've been looking at the maxi-cosi and a britax one. I would like to keep her in the rear facing one but she is almost 20lbs so I think she is due to move up. We couldn't look earlier as we are changing makes of cars and didn't want to buy one that fits our car but not the new car.

that's great about the prize, will have to bake some of those muffins.

MoonlightMcKenzie · 11/09/2009 17:39

Okay, - some please tell me HOW do you make muffins. I mean I know you need a muffing tin, but what is a muffing tin!

MoonlightMcKenzie · 11/09/2009 17:39

LOL at muffing, - muffin - obviously

MoonlightMcKenzie · 11/09/2009 17:43

I just absent-mindedly muttered to ds did he want a smack (he was being VERY naughty). He started getting very excited and shouting

'SNACK, SNACK!'

ILikeToMoveItMoveIt · 11/09/2009 18:01

tee hee at your ds!

My hand was getting itchy whilst giving ds his dinner tonight. He would put the sandwich in his mouth, chew it up, spit it out, pick it up and then drop it over the edge of his highchair. It drives me INSANE.

After saying no too many times to mention, I took him out of his highchair and wouldn't let him have his blueberries (or anything else). That doesn't sound like much, but it's the first time I have taken food away from him and I felt awful

He couldn't have given a flying f@@k!!

Lol at muffing.

Muffins are easier to make than fairy cakes and a lot more versatile. You need a muffin tin and paper cases (they are bigger and deeper than fairy cake ones)

Happy Anniv

The best muffin recipe book ever

ninja · 11/09/2009 20:04

muffing sounds a bit rude no?

Certainly not too early for wime. DH is in benedorm for 4 days on a stag do, how old does he think he is???

M is well over 20lb but still seems to fit in her car seat so will be staying there for the moment. DD1 was in til 18 months I think (and she wasn't that small).

Ponymum well done on the prize, It's great when it's someone that you know who wins

Ponymum · 11/09/2009 20:07

Muffing tins (lol!) come in different sizes. Go to the cookware department in whatever department store is near you and ask (remember: muffins). You can make giant muffings which are practically a cake each (bad!), normal ones which are a bit bigger than cupcakes, or mini muffings which are just a mouthful. I have trouble matching cupcake liners size-wise to my muffing tins, so I just grease the tins first with butter and the muffings pop out fine after they have cooled a little. Get baking!

Meglet · 11/09/2009 20:42

moonlight how is the wine?

Muffins are indeed the best type of cake, I make a couple of batches a week with the Nigella domestic goddess recipe (uses buttermilk or yoghurt / milk mix), with either blueberry or banana and chocolate . I can't be arsed with fairy cakes and all that creaming together butter and sugar nonsense, just want to chuck it in a bowl and stir for 20 seconds and bung it in the oven.

ooooo, I nearly forgot. DD stood on her own today for the first time, although she didn't last long then she toppled over. She can walk just using just one hand to hold on with. I think walking and first shoes are not far off now!

Pacita · 11/09/2009 20:56

Happy anniversary Moonlight! The wine is not only ok, it would probably be prescribed by your physician.

Ponymum the muffings sound great. If I ever get round to baking I'll give them a try. And congratulations on your win!! That's excellent news.

Well M's been playing football tonight.

DD1 goes to football club and M came along and when I told her to kick it with her feet she did! (for an hour )

She was desperate to join her sister and (dare I say it) probably had more talent.

Must try those muffins

lollyheart · 11/09/2009 21:50

Hello

Congrats ponymum

Happy birthday to all the babies.

Wow those muffins look tasty, i will give them a go.

Fraser is now walking, He got a gift voucher for clarks for his birthday, i love getting their 1st pair of walking shoes

I have the maxi cosi xp, i think it is fantastic but fraser wont be in it for ages, he only weighs 17lb 2oz he seems to have stopped growing.

I am so glad it's the weekend, getting dd and ds off to school has worn me out but they have had a brill week. please let them liein in the morning.

digitalgirl · 11/09/2009 22:15

Oo congrats ponymum that's such a great prize! Are you going to buy lots of little instruments or a big ticket item like a keyboard? I'd love to get ds a keyboard. My mum has an upright piano I'm hoping she'll donate. I have high hopes for ds' musical career!

Dsis is on next weekend. Apparently they're showing two shows next wkend so she's bound to be on one of them. Then she won't be off your screens for the following three weekends after that so you'll all be sick of her!

Did anyone watch derren brown and feel slightly disappointed that he's saying he either guessed it or fixed it? That's not an answer.

Ponymum · 11/09/2009 22:30

digi I think they just send us a package of stuff worth £100, and we don't get to choose ourselves. Pity, as of course my DD is so advanced for her age so I would choose a clarinet and a viola, not silly xylophone and cymbals!

Yes, we watched Derren Brown. I think I am none the wiser although I am not sure. But those 24 people sure feel good, don't they?

Pacita · 12/09/2009 20:00

Hold on a second, is it right now that DGsis is on??

Debs75 · 12/09/2009 20:18

Juat looked at the warning sticker on Robyns car seat and she can stay in htere till she is 13kg. I think it was the first time i have looked at it at least now i have some time before i get her a new seat. Phew.
Don't think we will be getting shoes yet, she won't even keep socks on, she can stand but is not co-ordinated enough to walk.

digitalgirl · 12/09/2009 20:26

pacita no, sis wasn't on today. She's definitely on next week though, but not sure which day. And they potentially might gloss over her first audition as I didn't see her in the 'preview' clips at the end of tonight's show.

DS has been crying for over an hour. Dh is dealing with bedtime. We f*@$ed up his naps today and consequently he fell asleep at 6:30 on the way home from a BBQ, we let him sleep till about 7 then tried to do the bedtime routine...feed, bath, feed, story, bed. Started crying at bathtime, stopping to feed, and then resumed. Poor sausage is really tired.

Pacita · 13/09/2009 11:17

Ah, thanks DG. Will make sure I watch - the really annoying thing is that it coincides with bedtime shenanigans... Yesterday I left it to dad, but unfortunately I cannot pass on the breast feeding...

It's very quiet on here tonight!!

We have been on the go all weekend in a birthday frenzy. We are holding a party on Saturday and have gone a bit overboard, but she is our PFB so I think we can be excused

Anyway happy birthdays for all those babies that have had theirs over the past week and all those this week too!!!!

ILikeToMoveItMoveIt · 14/09/2009 08:36

Hi all. We had a birthday party/bbq yesterday (outside in our thermals!)

DS had far too much sugar but he had a lovely time

Where is Hopefully? I need to tell her about my hedgerow.

CarrieBo · 14/09/2009 09:36

Hi all, busy weekend with family arriving as they're staying for the week.
I've woken up with the most minging cold today. Should i stay away from music group incase I infect people, or go coz I don't want to be cooped up at home?
Ds is still in his baby carseat too, glad he's not the only one!
Well done ponymum, and happy anniversary starlight!

ILikeToMoveItMoveIt · 14/09/2009 09:58

Morning CarrieBo. I was thinking about you the other day. How is the house move/buying going?

If your cold is minging I would stay away. I'm guessing there are some young babies there?

Oh and Starlight, you are quoted in the MN Pregnancy book!
