My year 9 class this afternoon were soooooooo impressed when I said I sort of knew someone who's sister is in Miss Frank! Even whenI admitted I hadn't met you digi they didnt mind. A facebook friend was good enough for them to be impressed!

Haven't had a chance to read beyond the last 50 posts but sorry to hear about your cousin's little girl meglet ponymum stairgate? we're thinking it's about time we got one this weekend

We got back from our friends wedding/holiday last Monday and desperately need another holiday to get over that one. DS was not any easier in the night, despite being in the same room as us and having as many night feeds as he wanted and coming into our bed to co-sleep after first waking. He sleeps so badly I really don't think we'll ever crack it. He'll be waking up crying for his mum at uni, I just know it.

He was also incredibly clingy and grizzly whilst away. Would want picking up, then would wriggle out of my arms, then cry when I put him down ad infinitum. If DH took him I had to leave the room in order for DS to happily stay with his dad. Urgh, was bloody exhausted by the end of it.

Anyway, back, busy working, and Dsis has her first live show tomorrow. It's been hard getting hold of her to chat to, but am hoping she's had enough rest and rehearsals to put on a good show tomorrow. They've worked so so so hard, harder than the others. I'll be in the audience tomorrow so won't be able to log on till Sunday!

This had fallen off my threads I'm on list, how can this be?!

Sorting dd's potty training is dominating my days at the moment (she's been in pants since Feb but is still so lazy about it). That and the house and the world's most USELESS solicitor. Only silver lining is that since our estate agent recommended her, I can phone the agent and tell her how rubbish solicitor has been, then two of us chase her, and the agent realises its not us slowing things down. Still working towards completing in three weeks but there are outstanding queries on our new house, including whether or not we could extend it, which is a deal breaker. So we can't book the removal men yet.

Ds can now stand unaided (not bad given as he only started crawling 6 days ago, and pulling to standing 4 days ago!) but hasn't really mastered the art of stepping yet. He's very cute with it though

DG I am SO impressed at all the rave reviews of Miss Frank. Your sister has come across so well in all her TV appearances, and she's always the one people talk about in the group, she's fab!

So sorry meglet for your cousin And here I am moaning about things that really don't matter.

That's exactly what it's like here - running after her to undertake pre-emptive disaster avoidance. Example yesterday: while I was on the phone she pulled all the tissues out of the tissue box while I was trying to grab them off her with one hand. Got off the phone and tried to tidy it all up, and she scampered off down the kitchen giggling. Turn around one second later and the top 10 cm contents of the kitchen rubbish bin is all over the floor! Including the seeds and innards from the red chilles I had been preparing for supper! Scooped her up and ran to the bathroom and scrubbed her hands with soap and water. Thankfully she hadn't actually touched the chillies - can you imagine? After that I kept my eagle eyes on her and waited until she was playing happily on the mat before getting the brush and shovel to clean up the kitchen floor mess. But she was on to me and scampered down the hall to climb the stairs. I was after her lightninng fast but she was already on the third step!
And this is only crawling speed. Imagine when they can run.

don't bother with treatment for nits, just condition hair and wet comb frequently. It's a pain, DD1 had them when I gave birth last year and I was having to sort that out with tiny baby.

What about pacita's adapted - one small step for babykind, one large step run as fast as you can to stop them escaping step for mumkind

lol meglet as you may have noticed from my facebok statuses/stati (what's the plural of status?) it has been stressful this week. We've spent over 3 hours with the financial adviser this week and the mortgage still isn't sorted out. They will give us money so not worried about it but there's issues over our current mortgage and Key Worker money that's complicating it all.

Thank you all. I'm suprised how upset I am about my cousins little girl, knowing how it could turn out (as it did for my aunt and uncle) is unbearable.

debi When I was feeling sorry for myself I realised I could be more stressed, I could be buying a house .

DD was very calm when she had her jabs, the nurse gave her a chocolate button afterwards. She gave DS one too so he didn't get freaked out by the idea of jabs. We had a nice wander round town so my head feels clearer now. And how much are nit combs . £9 for a decent comb and £10 for the treatment stuff (just in case).

Debs we have that cot problem too. We regularly get woken up by ds2 crashing into the sides of the cot and then we lie there holding our breath waiting to see if he'll wake up too. Wonder if you can get king size cots

Finally got chance to catch up.
We had alovely weekend at the christening and had great weather. My cousins baby is lovely and very smiley. At 7 months he is almost the same size as Robyn, she looks so dfainty next to him. He has a lovely shock of creamy white hair and white eyebrows and lashes. very cute.
we stayed at a Premier Inn and it was very comfortable. all 4 of us got in one room. Me and Robyn shared a huge king size bed and she managed to sleep through on both nights. sorry to say she is not doing it at home, I think her cot is too small and she is hitting the bars which wakes her up.
Have needed two days to get over the travelling tho. 7 hours there and back is a bit much but robyn was great in the car and only winged when she got tiredd=.

Sorry for the miserable post but I really have had enough this week and need to vent, I haven't even caught up on everyone else yet. Both the dc's are in nursery for 3 days a week now, DD is not happy about it but she should settle in time. Yesterday DS was naughty at nursery for the time. Stupid mummy didn't realise he could have a nap at nursery so didn't tell the staff he always has a nap and he was over tired and grumpy by the afternoon. Did a 'dummy' work run yesterday trying to get the dc's out of the house in time and we can now get ready in 2 1/2 hours , work is going to be 'fun' next week. But the truly crap news is that my cousins 3yr old daughter has been diagnosed with leukemia . They live in the states so I am sure they will be getting fantastic medical care, but all the same it's shit and scary. Our other cousin died of it at 15 so now I've gone into panic mode about whether it's in the family genes.

My Dad's cancer hormone levels have gone right down though so he should be able to keep him well and alive for some time yet.

After that moan I am off to get the dc's up as DD has her MMR later. I have to pop into Boots to get a nit comb as there's a couple of kids a nursery with them so I want to catch the little beasties before they infest my dc's.

At least the sun is out . And my sainsburys delivery was all correct.

Virgina I got the eye rolling and sigh plus I got shouted at from ds1 today. He is completely convinced that 1 of the boys from pre-school lives in a different country because he speaks a different language! He will not believe me that he lives in this country.

Walking is improving here too. A couple of times he's realised he has something in his hand so can't crawl and so gets up and walks. Mostly though he only walks between me and dh or a coupleof steps to get to something. Crawling's still faster.

Quick update - I called NHS direct who were very nice and although they cannot tell what is wrong, they did reassure me that what I was doing was the right thing. After calpol and cuddles and milk, Erin perked up a bit and was back to running around before going to bed about 30 mins ago. It's funny how quickly they become ill and bounce back quickly too sometimes. I keeping obs on her tonight and booking a GP appointment to check it is not an infection.

ILTQITI I think you are probably right that it is a virus, and hopefully it will disappear as quickly as it came. Debi I hope she is much better in the morning too

On a positive note, I have a job interview for a part-time job (very excited but keeping realistic that the competition is high).

dd1 was v. early using sharp tools. it has made me a bit blasé about scissors. my halloween name for a couple of years was 'theknifewieldingtoddler'. she used her first secateurs, with mummy hovering, at 18 months.

Kagey - maybe a flu or virus type thing? Keep an eye on her, but if you feel uneasy about it go and see the GP.

Debi - ds didn't get any new teeth for about 4 or 5 months then a couple of weeks ago he was very unsettled at night and lo and behold two new teeth popped through.

Scissors - omg. I would have had a heart in mouth moment at that! Little monkey

DS is going from strength to strength with his walking. I can see he's now making a point of walking from A to B, rather than just throwing himself between the sofa and chair.

His climbing is also improving. Up onto the sofa, onto the arm of the sofa, then onto the window cill

DD1 has been asking to take a pack lunch to school the last couple of weeks. She asked first for a Dr Who lunchbox. She is scared of Dr Who but nevermind that. Today we engaged in what would be in the lunchbox. (I prefer school dinners because they are hot, healthy, she eats a more varied diet without me nagging and it is free! Co Durham is a pilot area for some scheme.) She suggested chips first. then crisps.

I said, 'what about vegetables?'
she said no.
I said 'but you need healthy things in a pack lunch'.
She said no, you need 'more healthier things' (ie, like chips and cwips - her word.)
I said,'those are not healthy'.
Cue big sigh and roll eyes, 'mummy sometimes you talk crazy.'

Latest news on dd2 or should I say, Alice Scissorhands. She found some scissors, DD1's very sharp metal scissors lying around and managed to snip a large hole in her top this evening. Well done Alice!

DS2 was awake and getting calpol forced into him again last night. Still don't know for sure what's bugging him but if it's teeth I wish they'd hurry up and come through. he's not had any new ones for 4 months now.

He had his MMR today, seems to be totally un-bothered by it but no doubt at 4am he'll change his mind.

ILTQITI Our new house is less than a mile away in a straight line. We're currently just on the edge of the town centre (of a small town) and are moving to the opposite edge of the town centre. Wanted to go to a slightly further out area but houses just aren't coming up there so have taken a slight compromise on location to get a lovely house.

Miserable day here. DD dropped off at nursery this morning by DH and was a little clingy but fine. I then got a call to say she had a temp and could they give her calpol. Wierd thing is it's ranged from 36.4 to 39, and she has been hot and then shivery. When I got her home it was back down to 36.8 and she has not had calpol since midday. She is asleep at the mo and temp is 37.2.

DH says he is hot and cold too - virus maybe? I am hoping it's not anything else. Keeping E off of nursery tomorrow and instead with MIL and if temp still up and down a trip to the nice GP. Any thoughts?
