Hello everyone
Welcome back lacks
DS is home, he has been staying with my parents since Tuesday!
They are both asleep in the same room - not sure I'm looking forward to tonight!

MM - we are having the opposite problem, DD seems to be trying to unwean herself. She'd be very happy to have milk instead of breakfast. As long as she is eating cheese, yoghurt, milk on cereal etc then she should be getting enough calcium I would have thought

Daisy welcome back Glad you had a great time!

monkey wish I had some advice for you but Hamster doesn't have much milk really and I am a little bit worried if he is getting enough vitamins/minerals.

The big news here is that DS1 has finally relinquished his dummy Last night was the first night - he left them on his table for the dummy fairy who left him a big garage and some cars Went extremely seamlessly and he wasn't bothered at all.

Cricri · 16/08/2009 20:21

Evening ladies, sorry for being AWOL for so long. I had a hectic few weeks with work in the run-up to leaving for France and it's only now, 10 days after we arrived, that I'm getting the chance to post! So much for having more time... I have been lurking and keeping up though.
MM Glad the return to work went OK. I don't know how you working mums who actually have to leave the house do it though - I admire you! At least I can just stagger across to my PC, I'm not sure I could manage getting myself and E ready and out of the house for a certain time! Re the bf question, hopefully Lacks will be along soon. Have you looked on Kellymom? Before we left for France E seemed to be ready to drop a feed but here she's been feeding like a newborn again, on top of her normal meals As Yorky says, as long as she's getting lots of calcium then it shouldn't be a problem. You could also try offering her a boob even if she doesn't ask. I tend to do that with E and she either takes it or doesn't.
Lacks Glad you had a good holiday although it sounds as though Bumble and E are having some sort of growth spurt atm - is there such a thing as a 9/10 month growth spurt??
Hope Pinky and Obs are having good holidays.
Vbab Glad you got your childcare/work issues resolved, you must be so relieved.
Ellielou Sorry you've been having arguments with DH, hope he realises that he ccould maybe help out a bit more even with a bad arm. Ouch with the Veet!
Tegan Hope the M&B article helped with the sleeping problems.
Barbs Sorry you've been feeling so low and I agree with Fudge that don't feel you can't go back to see a different GP if you think it would help. You're doing a grand job though and you've had a hard time with billybobs (love the name btw!) being such a velcro baby for so long. I read a thread you posted in Sleep not so long back and I'm thinking of putting E to sleep on a mattress in her room when we get home too because I still need to lie down next to her and feed her to sleep. She's fallen off the bed twice here because it's not as big as at home Fortunately with no lasting damage. I've now pushed the bed against the wall to make it safe, which is fine whilst I'm here on my own but not when DH arrives next weekend. Love the knee pad things too btw! E is making lots of "ffff" and "ssss" sounds too, in addition to "mamama" and "bababa". No "dadada" though strangely
Twinkling Sorry you had to give your dog away but you've done the best thing and given her to somebody who wants to give her a good home. As somebody else said, it's a brave decision to take and it will take a while to get used to the house without her.
Coolkat Hope the wedding went ok and that all goes well at the GP's tomorrow.
Hello to everyone else!

LackaDAISYcal · 17/08/2009 00:04

Monkey, not sure about the feeds tbh. DD was crossing over from BF to FF at this age, but she was happy to have four bottles a day until she was over a year old. Bumble, well I can't see him dropping a feed any time soon, although we did have a good few days in holiday where I was worried about him as he was only feeding morning and night and his usual twice a night feeds. Have you got a local BFC you could contact? or tried your HV or the NCT or NHS support line?

Just a quick drop in for me while i'm witing for FB photos to upload as i've been busy trying to get rid of all the muck and dust from my house in readiness for an old uni friend and ex work colleague visiting next week (he emigrated to NZ four years ago ago and I can't wait to catch up). the dust is winning the fight so far

Had some bad news tonight . not sure if I mentioned it, but my big big soster had some problems with her vision recently and was diagnosed with optic neuritis and was sent for various scans and such like as it can be a symtom of other things. Well, she was finally diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis a couple of weeks ago but bless her didn't call as she didn't want to spoli our holiday with the news. Thankfully it seems to be one of the milder forms but no-one knows how it will progress as it's different for everyone. she is being resolutely cheerful about it and determined it isn't going to affect her quality of life......good for her.

right back to MB reviews and photos.

Oh and I have just ignored bumble who cried for about five minutes and then went back to sleep.....I feel really shit about it, but enough is enough; we need to get him sleeping through as I can't do this whole awake twice in the night thing and still function looking after three of them all day.

arse...not quick was it? and I still haven't ccaught up properly, so thanks to CriCri for the summary

tegan · 17/08/2009 06:03

Hey lacks nice to hear from you

it was very quiet the weekend everyone must of had some sunshine.

Well o fell asleep at 6pm yesterday so i bathed and pu pj's on in his sleep, he woke at 7pm had 8oz bottle and went back off til midnight then had 6oz bottle and back off til 4.30am i switched on a musical light toy i found yesterday and he slipped back off to sleep himslef until 5.30.
Tonight i am putting him down awake and putting that toy on to see if he will settle himself lets hope so.

tegan · 17/08/2009 06:04

sorry lacks meant to mention your sis. I really hope she isn't too bad and coping ok with her news.

Yorky · 17/08/2009 07:13

I don't want to say this for fear of jinxing it - but overnights here might be starting to improve. They are both in the same room now and after giving up on DD and bringing her downstairs DS stayed awake for ages (felt really guilty as he was being really good and quiet and just lying in bed, not shouting like he normally does) They both slept from about 930 till 5am!
Hate to say it Daisy but maybe letting him cry for a bit is the way forwards. I got into the habit of comfort feeding DD back to sleep everytime she squeaked as didn't want her to disturb DS, but after the first horrid night when DH had to settle her so milk wasn't an option she has been SO much better.
Glad you had a lovely holiday Cricri
Daisy I think DBs MIL has MS, or ME - not sure but I know she is on a really strict dairy and other stuff free diet and is feeling better than she has for ages, do you want me to ask?

OP posts:
Cricri · 17/08/2009 07:22

Lacks So sorry to hear about your sister's MS. It sounds as though she has a good attitude towards the illness though and as you say, thankfully it's one of the milder forms. A big blow to all concerned though
Tegan Hope the musical toy works for O tonight!

LackaDAISYcal · 17/08/2009 08:09

morning.....bumble slept through till 4 after his earlier noise so it appeared to work! Will try again tonight and if we get rid of the first night feed and he settels into a routine with it, I'll do the same with the 4am one.....he WILL sleep through

glad you had a better night Yorky and yes please about your DB's MIL; all advice/ideas greatfully received. I was having a look at stuff about MS on the internet last night, and it isn't as bad as I first thought. The main thing being the fact that it isn't a "life limiting" condition and that most people with MS live as long a life as those without it and that there are more people living with it but not knowing that they have it. Time will tell how it affects her though; fingers crossed she will have a long period of remission.

did I mention bumble's mobility? He is a carpet swimmer which is very cute; two hands forward together and then drag. He can cover the floor surprisingly quickly. He's also been trying to pull himself up on furniture.

Also, eating; he is a definate carnivore this one and will go for the meat before anything else and will take meat out of a sarnie and throw the bread away. Veg get ejected from his gob at an alarming rate if any get in there courtesy of mum by mistake.

coolkat · 17/08/2009 10:21

Morning
Wow here in the Coolkat household we have had a Sleep through - Hurrah! 1st one since what seems like forever. Becca down by 7 and woke at 6.45! Fed and then we were really bad and went back to sleep til 9.30. I think its catch up from Saturdays wedding. I feel awful for us going back to sleep

Daisy good to have you back, Hol photo's look great. Sorry to hear about your sister. X

Well I really need to jump in the shower, just jumped on the computer as my pram has broken and was looking for an email from Britax

LadyBuzz · 17/08/2009 13:19

Coolkat great news on the sleep through!
Hope the rest of you with sleep problems are seeing some inprovements.

Ceebee well done DS1!

Daisy glad you had a good hol, Sorry to hear about your sisters MS, my SIL has it and was diagnosed 25 years ago at 18 and at the time was told she wouldn't see 40, she is 43 and amazingly mobile and independant. She has campaigned massively for MS and knows loads so just say if you have any questions!

Jay is walking with his toddle truck
DS1 never even moved at this age so it is quite a shock that he is progressing so fast!

I had a 2 moles removed this morning and OMG I am in pain! the local anaesthetic is wearing off and its agony, On my nose too so I can't even keep it still!

Hi to cricri & monkey good to see you posting!

LackaDAISYcal · 17/08/2009 13:29

Well done Becca and Jay

bumble can stand with support, and move his right leg forward, but the left one doesn't want to follow suit.

ouch for your moles LB, and I hope they have made a good job of the one on your nose. I need to make an appointment to get mine on my back done since the doc decided he couldn't do it

and I should say Hi to Creena; it's good to see you again after a long absence

chocolategal · 17/08/2009 13:48

Well done on the improved sleepers!
We are still up once normally.

Sorry to hear about your sisters MS daisy.
Ladybuzz, get some painkillers on board now before the local totally wears off!

we have been to soft play this morning which DS really enjoyed.

barbareebaa · 17/08/2009 22:17

hello!
sorry to hear about your sister daisy sounds like she has a great attitude - i hope she avoids feeling the effects for as long as possible.
lovely to hear of good sleepers!
cricri i'm definitely going to try mattress in bedroom just as soon as i can afford a new mattress! i am banking on this to be the way forward - if you decide to and beat me to it would love to hear how you get on! hope you're starting to relax now - btw did you drive across and if so how did you get on? thinking of driving across with W as dh parents live near limoges but terrified of flying - w hasn't even met his granddad yet
lb hope you're not feeling too sore!
glad you had a nice morning chocgal

ellielou02 · 18/08/2009 13:12

just bookmarking

chocolategal · 18/08/2009 15:17

Arghh, horrible day here
Was meant to be meeting a friend and her baby for a walk but the rain put an end to that!
Instead i have just been to sainsburys and sent a small fortune on organix finger food bits!

How is everyone else today?

Ceebee74 · 18/08/2009 15:44

Chocgal I know that feeling of spending a fortune on baby food....I can spend hours in the baby food aisle picking up things I don't need essential bits and pieces

ellie how did your DD get on at school?

LB yay for Jay - what a clever little boy he is. I can just picture him motoring along with his toddle truck...too cute

Daisy so sorry about your sister but it sounds like she is positive and the other's experiences make it sound like there is a future for her.

Just a quick catch up as I have to go and pick DS1 up early from nursery to go and get his mop hair cut - am leaving Hamster at nursery so I can concentrate on DS1 and making sure he behaves!!

Rosa · 18/08/2009 15:57

Bookmarking for when I have more time... Had no internet then I went down and still have terrible cold poss flu but no temp ( normal for me whilst BF I either get a temp or the other things !!!). I got it form my neice who could have had swine flu but not the full wack. All her mates had it after they went to a concert . She had throat / cold then a high temp but all over in just under a week. ..My sisiter ( a GP said she wasn't ill enough !!!!!!!!). Anyway now Minirosa has a lousy cold a river out of her nose and a temp so we are calpol every 6 hrs and watching her she is not off her food and every time she sneezes she looks up waiting for teh muslin to wipe her nose ( ahhhhs swet !)...Last night we co slept as she won't sleep vertical in her cot ( lying down ) only horizontal so tipping the cot ends up was useless!
I will read more when I don't have to blow every 10 secs ...and I must Dettol spray the keyboard just incase I start oinking !

Yorky · 18/08/2009 19:59

Sorry for your spoilt outing Choc
Another one guilty of supporting Organix snack trade here
Sounds like you're having a holiday to remember Rosa, hope you all feel better soon

Today not too bad here, DS at nursery this am so I set flea bombs off in the house (yuck!) and took DD round to friends house for coffee and chat! DS refused to nap after nursery so wad tired when we picked up friend and her DC to go to pets thing where they could stroke the animals - he wasn't too horrible, but not good either.

DD can't realistically be called mobile yet, but neither does she sit still! Spends a lot of time rotating on her bottom, moves backwards a little bit, tries to get into crawling position and either gets one leg stuck under her or just frustrated that she doesn't know what she's trying to do, but whatever it is just isn't working! I try and laugh sympathetically!

Bookmarking as it is getting late.

Hi to all. Back tomorrow to catch up.

LackaDAISYcal · 19/08/2009 09:49

bleargh.....laid up in bed today with either food poisoning or a tummy bug, not sure which. Had a horrendous night, the details of which I won't go in to as it's too close to lunchtime, but thank heavens I had some teeny tiny dispo nappies lying around is all I will say . not pleasant. Haven't eaten anything since breakfast yesterday and can't even keep liquids in me

At least it didn't happen on holiday.

coolkat · 19/08/2009 11:24

Oh Daisy, I hope mr J is around today with the little ones. X

Bah after our sleep through now waking up but only once so I suppose that is better!

Just a quick one back later. X

AFingerofFudge · 19/08/2009 22:28

Hi all
lacks sorry you're feeling porrly, hope you get over it soon, hope the rest of the family are ok.

All quiet here. M is back to his cheerful self, and is managing to pivot on his tummy, but no movement anywhere yet. He is sitting up confidently now , his weaning is going slowly but in the right direction. He can now eat wotsits without gagging!! Never thought the first weaning finger food I'd be giving my child would be wotsits! Ah well, there are plenty of things I never thought I'd do/say before I had kids, and I bet we can all say that.
We are off on holiday tomorrow for a week - yipee- and I have no laptop so it will be quiet from me for the week. We are going on the ultimate "staycation" - going to Kent to stay at friends house while they are away!!We'll do a few day trips and a day trip to France (courtesy of tesco clubcard points).

Ok, off to do some packing..... see you all in a week, have a good week everybody x

barbareebaa · 19/08/2009 23:23

Have a lovely holiday FOF So glad to hear the weaning is starting to go in the right direction!
Daisy Sorry you're so ill Hope you're able to rest!

wow! Isn't it quiet?!

chocolategal · 20/08/2009 11:07

Hope your feeling better today daisy.
Happy holidays fudge

another day of rain here
