LackaDAISYcal · 15/07/2009 23:40

lord, all these tales of babies not feeding in the day.....bumble has been feeding like a newborn again ; every three hours and for over half an hour at a time. AND, he is eating solid food like it's going out of fashion. AND he STILL isn't sleeping all night

tegan · 16/07/2009 07:53

pinky we need to so much around the house/garden but it isn't only the money, dh works nights and spends alot of the day in bed so nothing ever seems to get done.

cricri · 16/07/2009 09:01

Morning all, as usual I've been lurking but not had chance to post. Thanks for the new thread Yorky
Welcome back MM, sounds as though you had a fab time in France. Pics on FB look great!
Daisy E is still feeding quite a bit during the day and also at night despite eating loads during the day. I'm wondering when she's going to start sleeping through the night...
No crawling yet but she's getting very good at bum shuffling and also pushes up onto her knees from sitting. Nothing is safe from her inquisitive little hands anymore! And she doesn't stop talking. But I'm loving this age, it's so much fun
Good luck to all the mummies going back to work soon. Juanitad Glad your week back is going OK. I can imagine how exhausting it is though and how little time you get to yourself.

tegan · 16/07/2009 11:46

I know i keep moaning about lack of money but have just done a shed load of xmas shopping in next sale

LackaDAISYcal · 16/07/2009 13:47

Ah tegan you are just being shrewd.....and saving money in the long term

I have a rare child free moment!! Both my monsters are asleep at the same time for a change. I really NEED to put laundry away but am so tempted to sit with my feet up for a bit.

Ceebee74 · 16/07/2009 13:59

Tegan we are skint aswell but still managed to spend about £150 in the Next sale this morning - but it is all necessary work stuff for me or the next size clothes for the boys so wise spending imo

Juanitad glad you are enjoying work but lol at you needing a break already Only another day to go after today eh??

MM welcome back - loving the photos on FB and the holiday just sounds so idyllic

Hi to everyone else - DH off on holiday all week so we have just been out for lunch with the Hamster - he had some goats cheese and pulled a few funny faces whilst eating it

Rosa · 16/07/2009 14:26

I have been buying off the Next international site so no invite for me this year !!!!I doubt I will end up getting anything as all the sizes on line are usually gone and in teh shop is a huge free for all - worse than TK Maxx!
Daisy and all others I join you in the fed up emotion on no night sleep yet !
Welcome backMM those pics were lovely on hols
As for the rain I bought Dd a new Umbrella and wellies today as the streets were a mass of puddles on and off the pavements. Took her to a pre school gym club this mrorning and she adored it. I got soaked multiple times and am thinking about buying a buggy brolly anybody used one ?
Coolcat pain about bf I hope to carry on until she wants but I have noticed she is taking much less esp mid morning and before bed. Hope you stop when its right for you as well !

PinkyMinxy · 16/07/2009 14:39

heelo

MM welcome back! I too have been loving your FB photos.

Next sale- not this year as we seem to have lots of children's clothes at the mo. Have just bought a few things in Fat Face sale.

My girls were not well last night but both seem a little better today.

Lunch sound slovely, Ceebee.

LackaDAISYcal · 16/07/2009 14:44

erm, actually bumble didn't feed all night . He woke once but I never heard him and DH managed to settle him without recourse to having to stick a boob in his gob.

That's two good nights in the space of a week.....dare I even begin to imagine that this might be a sea change in his sleep routines??????

Of course I've probably jinxed it now

I love the Next Sale, 8 t-shirts for DS1, a couple for DD and bumble, some vests and sleepsuits and a pair of trainers and sandals for me.....all for the princely sum of £65

chocolategal · 16/07/2009 15:04

Thanks to you ladies have now got my sale slot tmw
Hoping to get vests, sleepsuits etc in couple of sizes up.

Sleep, well its hit and miss here too. Last night was a good night, slept 8-4.30 then milk then back down until 7.10!! Anything after 6am is a bonus so i was delighted with that!

Right I am meant to be drafting a letter to the paediatrician about E's kidneys as they have discharged him but they still have dilation present which is erratic.
cricri I know you said E was getting rescanned in 6-12 months, so I am going to ask if they would consider doing that.

Feel a bit cheeky about writing to the consultant but its either that or ask for an appointment.

cricri · 16/07/2009 15:10

I've now booked my slot in the Next sale too I checked to see what was still available and there's loads I want so I'm hoping the items are still there by tomorrow afternoon!
Thanks also to Chocolategal's post last week about lightweight buggies, I ordered the M&P Kato in the sale and it arrived last night. Looks good and should be perfect for going to France. Especially now that we've postponed buying a bigger car!
Chocolategal I think you're right to ask the consultant to re-scan E, especially since the dilatation is erratic. I hope you get a scan appointment and don't get fobbed off. E is being scanned again in September. Good luck!
Better go, somebody has just woken from her afternoon nap!

chocolategal · 16/07/2009 15:16

Thanks cricri i will let you know when/if I hear!
I feel a little let down by the NHS actually, I have had to push for appointments and scans with his kidneys and now with his eczema.
We have private health care through DH work but unfortunately the private hospital near us doesnt see under 16 year olds.

Glad to be of help with the buggy!

Oblomov · 16/07/2009 15:30

Monkey, I love your facebook photos too. You are all so,,,, swish, so classy. So French

Christening was truely beautiful.
I took M to A&E yesterday afternoon. He fell out of the pram, onto concrete, becasue...... I forgot tonstarp him in. I am so truely ashamed. Went to park with my friend and her ds, who is in ds1's class. Both boys were so very very naughty. Awful behaviour. Lots of telling off. And hitting eachother and pushing and whinging. In the end she and I both lost our rag and said 'right, that it, we're going home.put ds2 in buggy. Turned round to tell ds1 off AGAIN. And then proceeded to march out of park. As went out of gate... thud. . He has huge egg, but it was gone by this morning, I think becasue friend was so quick at putting on cold compress. she is star.

Went to work today. Enjoyed getting dresses up for it. M had first ever hour at ds1's old nursery. He loved it. Work have agreed to reduce my days to two days. And agreed to everthing. They are so fab. I feel on top of the world. And can't wait to get back at begin Oct.

Ds1 finishes school next week. I have 4 days at home, week at sil with cousins that ds1 loves. A week of holiday club for ds1. About another 4 days at home. 2 weeks at our new caravan in poole. Then back to school. Do you think I have packed too much in ?

Oblomov · 16/07/2009 15:35

Oh, nursery feed at 12(12.01 probably if nurseries are anything to go by ) and then sleep. I and ds2 have lunch when I remember/can manage it/ have time/ etc etc. So now I have something a bit more regimented to aim for ,over the next 2 months.

coolkat · 16/07/2009 15:44

Hi Ladies

I did huge next order but think have ordered to much 9-12 months stuff as checked whatI had got after placed the order - Duh Got me some kickers for winter and some boots I liked for winter and DH some trainers the rest was all for the girls. It was on my mums account to but I will have to pay her when the bill comes! I have bought some flat kicker boots as you know how much my back hurts with heels so I am being prepared, especially if we have another baby

Obs accidents happen, as long as M is ok now. I am sure you felt awful but don't dwell on it. Christening pictures were fab. And wow to all what you are doing in the holidays. You sound amazing so different to 8 months ago

Daisy good on Bumble sleeping through, Becca slept through til 5.30 so nearly there for us last night!

Crici glad you got buggy.

Choc good on you writing to consultant, they are only human!

Sorry to everyone we have missed. We have just had the nicest afternoon in the local parks complete with picnic and icecream, I am shattered but Charlotte seems to have a lot more energy than she used to! Becca was a diamond. X

Happy Days

LackaDAISYcal · 16/07/2009 15:45

Oh, obs, poor M. I hope you aren't beating yourself up about it; accidents happen. At least you weren't MNing while your DD was falling off the bench in the kitchen like me the other day

I dropped bumble on Tuesday! I had a hold of him and bent down to pick something off the floor and dropped him as I was standing up. The look on his wee face; he looked utterly shocked. He only fell about a foot though, so not too far.

I'm feeling a bit guilty at the minute as I took one of the side by side doubles to school today and he has fallen asleep so he is outside at the side door of the house as it doesn't fit through any of the doors.....will I burn in parenting hell?

Oblomov · 16/07/2009 15:46

Sorry to keep posting, I keep thinking of things .....

For many weeks now, M has been eating what we eat. No mashing , cutting or nothing. I just dish up his , 4 portions. I love this stage.
He has eaten fahitas - was a bit bemused by spring onion, roast chicken dinner -- all veg , medium chicken curry, and macaroni cheese and lasagne. I love cooking it. And now I have 3 to eat my cooking That kid eats anything. Just like ds1.
It makes life so much easier.

Oblomov · 16/07/2009 15:51

Daisy are you worried because you have left him outside ? I have always left my children outside if they are asleep when I get home.
Its GOOD FOR THEM, ya know
All mils would say that !!!!

LackaDAISYcal · 16/07/2009 15:53

There is a general feeling on here that leaving them out in the garden where you can't see them is a BAD thing though Obs....almost as bad as leaving them in the car while you pay for petrol

chocolategal · 16/07/2009 16:00

Do you all take your LO's out while you pay for petrol?
Sounds like you got some good bargains coolkat!
Glad things going great just now obs, well done to M on the eating too! Sounds like he is doing really well.

Letter written & emailed, here's hoping I get a reply!

Oblomov · 16/07/2009 16:15

Well I disagree with that Daisy. I think ds is safe in my back garden. Well, I mean as safe as.... god forbid, what could happen ? I mean other than someone jumping over my fence with the sole intention of stealing my baby. Well, yes, I guess that is A risk. The worlds gone mad.
It Lola's wedding NEXT weekend, then ?

coolkat · 16/07/2009 16:32

LADIES A BIG WHAT WOULD YOU DO?

Becca is still in her Britax baby carrier rear facer and to be honest is a nightmare in the car. She is always straining to see out despite me alteraning toys for her to play with in the car etc.

I have her next stage car seat in the loft a Britax Eclipse one so it reclines really well. We go on Holiday on the 24th and she will nearly be 9 months 3 week ago she was 17lb 3. Would you put her in the new car seat for the holiday to make the journey a bit more bareable?

For some reason got myself in such a tizz about this

LadyBuzz · 16/07/2009 17:30

Coolkat I have jus turned Jay as I wasn't happy with the fit of his seat rear facing in ythe new car wasn't great. He is a whopper though and well over 20lbs.
I don't know what to suggest I think we put DS1 in just under the 2olb mark - I can't quite remember. Does she sit by herself? I think that is a big part of it too!

MM welcome back your pics are fab on FB.

Ceebee glad DS1 had a good birthday.

Daisy I have been to look at the Obaby Xi today - I love it - DH hates me but I have seriously lost the plot with my current tandem and DS1 was such a nightmare in town today as he was so tired! Hmmm must do some working on DH tonight me thinks

Oh I leave my kids asleep outside too!

pinky hope los are OK today poor mimi

Obs you look fab in your FB photos too.

Hi to everyone else, sorry if I have missed anything!

AFingerofFudge · 16/07/2009 17:45

quick chance to post before serving dinner up. DH gone out for evening after work which is a good job because I have lots of prezzie wrapping to do...... DH is 40 tomorrow!!!!We're going out with a few friends on Saturday to celebrate but haven't organized a party because that would be his worst nightmare, he's not a party sort of bloke. Have spent a small fortune on him as bought him one of those GPS watches for his running. Hope he likes it!!
Talking of spending, how do you get your slots for Next sale that you've been talking about?? I buy lots from Next and from the catalogue, but have never had an email about shopping early for the sale. And in all honesty, I cannot be getting up at the crack of dawn to queue for a few bargains. Humbug.

Don't know why I just thought of this, but has anyone heard from vbab ? just thought it's ages since she's posted anything.
And what about rutho?? coolkat as much of a pain as it is, I think it's much safer having a rear facing car seat. Can't remember who posted here a few weeks ago a link to something about it??

obs poor you on the awfull mummy moment. I remember trying to take a photo of DS2 when he was very small by propping him up on cushions on the sofa. As I stepped back to take the photo......thud... onto the floor
very though at your DS's eating. We have a speech therapist who specializes in feeding probs visiting us next week to watch our M eating, because he is struggling so much to swallow anything that isn't pureed to the nth degree. Might be something to do with the tongue tie we think. He can't take anything vaguely lumpy or any finger foods without chucking up.

right gotta go or DS's will be sulking about burnt food.....

it's absolutely pouring with rain here, the sky is so dark...

LackaDAISYcal · 16/07/2009 18:18

coolkat, personally I would leave her rear facing for a bit longer, as it's to do with their weight and their neck strength. Although bumble is a big boy, and is well over 20lbs, I wouldn't be happy that his neck could take the strain of an impact if he was forward facing. We moved DD when she was just 9kgs, but she was almost a year at that point so her neck strength was good. And remember 9kgs is almost 20lbs so she is a way off yet.

could you move her into the front seat for the journey? ie can you switch off the airbag? or can DD1 keep her entertained? to my mind, their impatience and curiosity is secondary to their safety.
