Have a lovely time Pinky

Good luck to those with sleep issues, so far things are looking up here - on Tuesday night we were up for 2hrs with DD, last night it only took her 15 mins to give up, fingers crossed for tonight. Then we just have to work out how to move her into DSs room without disturbing them both
Another clapper here, isn't it great how pleased they look with themselves!

Missing DS now, don't get him back till Sat pm, sounds like he's having a lovely time with my parents

barbareebaa · 13/08/2009 22:04

hey hey
where are you going pinky? didn't you go to robin hoods bay last year - i was so jealous! have a lovely time!
went to docs re:pnd and she reckons it's situational, gave me a couple of helpful websites to look at. felt a bit stupid. sorry if i over reacted. bit confused about it all really.
yay for crawling babies and pulling up baies and clapping babies! Amazing! this 9 months has passed a lot quicker than the pregnancy did i think!
have been cleaning out williams bedroom ready for him - putting double mattress on floor so i can feed him to sleep. he is getting better - woke up a bit ago and i just lay down next to him and he went bak to sleep - no boobies! I cannot wait to be able to go to bed and read - at mo I go at midnightish as this is the only time off i get (although dh been at home this week as have been bit frazzled)
love to all xx

barbareebaa · 13/08/2009 22:06

p.s meant to say thanks for all lovely messages

PinkyMinxy · 13/08/2009 22:10

we are off to Cornwall for two weeks, can't wait.
Barbs don't feel silly. Your feelings are real. It's a good thing if you don't have PND, but that does not make how you have been feeling any less valid.x

tegan · 14/08/2009 07:25

sleep training ha
it's impossible, i really don't know what to do.

twink glad your dh was ok after, we all had dentst on weds, all fine thank god

Oblomov · 14/08/2009 08:41

Have a lovely time Pinky. I am in exactly the same situation. Lists of camping stuff, piles of plastic wine glasses (essential ) in the garage, piles of clean clothes, waiting to be packed. Have to get it done TODAY. Haven't managed it all week.
Am so excited. About going to our Dorset caravan for the first time. Like Pinky .... 2 weeks, yes "it WILL be fun"
See you in a couple of weeks ladies.

Oblomov · 14/08/2009 08:49

Barbs, totally understand. If you are 'struggling', but its not PND and thus AD's won't help (are you really sure they wouldn't , because they might, just because that particular gp didn't think so, maybe try another ?), then that leaves you a bit high and dry, as to what to try.
But as Pinky says, your actual feelings are still particularly valid. And everyone on this thread, unless they are either wonder-mum, or wierd, have SOME understanding of how you feel. So please continue to post and let us all (I won't be here, but the others will) help you through this time.
By the way, I am coping alot alot better. But I am not sure why - no concrete reasons for it. But I hope that gives you hope.

LadyBuzz · 14/08/2009 08:49

Have great hols Obs & Pinky i'm sure you will.

J pulling himself up now aswell and cruising. He too looks very pleased with himself!

Barbs glad you are a little happier, I second what Pinky said, don't feel stupid it is real!

Off out for a meal tonight for my DSB 21st birthday, should be fun. We are having a party for him on Sunday too for the kids! so busy busy busy here.

Yorky · 14/08/2009 08:52

Ob, I completely agree, I am coping better and have no real reason why. Keep posting Barbs, no sanity high ground on this thread!

Have a lovely time holiday people, have found cottages in Northumberland with a swimming pool and seriously tempted to book for a long weekend for DSs birthday in January, he'd never be out of the pool so nice present and easy entertainment!

It all went a bit pete tong for DH.
He has another appointment for this eve 445, think he may have to lose the tooth after all.
He has awful pains all up the side of his head so he ends up doubled in pain.

Feel very myself. We have just given our dog to my friend because I truly feel that she will be happier there. My friend desperately wants a dog and I am struggling to cope with mine. It just seems to make sense, but it is hard.
And, of course, who can help it but I am worried about folk bad mouthing me for giving up on a dog.
You don't get them for christmas, you get them for life.
We had her 6 years (rescuded from a bad situation) I was not sure, at the time if it was the best of ideas to take her on but simply didn't have the heart to return her to that situation.
When my LOs came along, I just no longer felt I had the time or emotional thingy for the poor thing anymore.

Tell me I am not a horror.

Yorky · 14/08/2009 13:27

Sorry about your DHs teeth twinkling

As for the dog I think you are doing the right thing. I know what you mean about not having emotional energy after the DC for a pet - if I had a friend who wanted our cats I would let them go as I know they aren't getting as much TLC or attention as they used to and they are nervous of the DC.

Don't add guilt to your missing the dog - you have done what you feel best for the dog which is better than keeping it in a less than ideal situation because you thought you ought to

misdee · 14/08/2009 13:36

sorry for being MIA again

this week has been hard, have finally had sophs allergy results in, and she is allergic to milk eggs and peanuts. had a bad few days, and sunk a bit low. have been felling let down by the system, not helped by my actually normal great HV being on holidays for 2 weeks, and then i'm off after that, so feel alone. mnetters have been great on advice and helping me get back on track. am on day 1 of no milk, egg and nut diet for me. am off to tesco soon to stock up on some free-from treats for soph.

sophie still isnt on the move. she can spin on her tummy, but isnt rolling, or crawling yet. she is just spoilt and the older 3 dote on her.

coolkat · 14/08/2009 15:42

Oh Misdee sorry your feeling a bit low. Its good you have the results in so you can feel more assured when feeding Sophie new things. X

Twink, don't feel low on re-homing your dog. You have done a brave thing rather than being selfish you were strong wnough to know your dog was going to a loving home where its needs can be met. We once had to rehouse 2 dogs after the birth of DD1 as she always had chest infections and we were sure they were not doing her any good.

Just painted my nails in prep for tomorrow's wedding but unsure I like the colour, its bluey silver bit flash for me but thought it might go nice with my dress

chocolategal · 14/08/2009 16:21

hey ladies

i have some laptop time at long last! Been reading posts on my phone but its a PITA posting from it!

Happy holidays pinky & Obs
Barbs, wise words from pinky, just because you havent been diagnosed with pnd doesnt mean your feelings aren't real. I can offer no advice, but here to support.

Coolkat, i have a wedding tmw too, havent done my nails yet! Not totally happy with my dress either. Feel its frumpy!

Twinkling, you are definately not a horror!!

Well, we have tooth number 7 today! DS has got the cold too so had a few rubbish nights.
I am trying not to complain too much about our nights as i am unwilling to try any form of sleep training yet.

If you remember i mentioned i emailed the consultant paediatrician re DS kidneys, well i got a really nice letter in the post this week with a scan and clinic appointment. Am very happy with that.

twinklingfairy · 14/08/2009 20:53

DH had the tooth taken out in the end.
I and very and very about it, in equal measures.
Sad because he seems to have been through a bit of an ordeal to get it out (an hour of pulling, the female dentist had to call in a male dentist to get the thing out. And then 6 jabs. He looked like he had had a stroke he had so little feeling left.)

I am also so cross cos he has made that decision without really exploring all other avenues to find the root cause of the pains. His parents thought it might be noralgia (sp?)

re the dog, thanks guys for your comments, they have really helped.
The thing that got me was the friend saying ' well, you know, if you don't want her....'
It's not that I don't want her!
I said as much and 5 minutes later she repeated her phrase.
I am thankful that she has taken the dog but I hate to think that she thinks it is just cos I have got bored of her (her being the dog).
House feels quiet, but peaceful.
DH is feeling it now.
We have the coal fire on tonight and he is missing the dog enjoying it.

Where is everybody??

AFingerofFudge · 14/08/2009 21:30

Hi twinks I am here!! It is very quiet though isn't it?? Really missing lacks and all her input!!
Sorry on the tooth front, I too have had a horrible experience of having TWO dentist pulling at part of a tooth to get it out, and suffering from the pain of so many needles in my gums to deaden the pain. It truly was the worst pain of my life, which says a lot given I had 2 out of 3 kids without any pain relief at all
And sorry too on the dog front as well. It probably is a good thing in the long term, and don't beat yourself up about it, if you can't give the dog all the attention she needs/wants, then you are doing her a favour.
misdee glad your back, but what a pain having those allergies to deal with! I hope you get to grips with it all soon, and become inventive in your cooking!
barbs although no expert, must say I was a bit at doctors comment about it being situational. I know you may be quite happy with what she said, so forgive me if I'm speaking out of turn. Well of course it's situational, you've had a baby, but are you actually happy with her reading of the situation? I just hope she is not fobbing you off. Do go back to a different doctor if you feel it would help. Don't feel guilty if you do go back either. You need to be the best mum you can be and be looking after yourself too.
tegan Really really sorry you're having such a drag with the nights. The only words of advice I have are that I bought M&B mag today to see lacks in it, and also in it is an article about a baby who kept waking up loads every night. There is a sleep training they did, so maybe that is worth a read?? You've probably tried it anyway, but just in case you haven't....
ceebee those shoes are fantastic, I love them!!
coolkat that is weird and intruiging that you should be giving Becca juice. Why do they come out with weird advice????
I am going back to work on the 29th. I will be doing one nightshift a week, so hopefully that will be survivable, as I will have no childcare the following day. Luckily some of my nights are on Fridays and Saturdays so DH will be around and to give him his due, normally does great when I need to sleep after nightshifts.
As you may remember, M was poorly last weekend, off his milk and food, and doing the most diiiiisguisting nappies ever imaginable. Well, he is a lot better now, although still not back on lots of milk. Weaning is still a huge trial, he is still on super-pureed-to-within-an-inch-of-their-life type foods!!
Have a lovely time all those going on hols, we're off next thursday just down to Kent for a week to stay at a friends house. Not up to much till then, just entertaining kids without spending too much money!

ellielou02 · 14/08/2009 21:43

Hello ladies
pinky & obs have lovely holidays am so jealous I would love a holiday ATM
yorky Glad your nights have been better and YAY for all the clapping babies.
barbs dont be sorry its just how you felt at the time and you shared, its good to put things into words sometimes it helps put things into perspective and may help (sorry am crap with words) I agree with obs and if you dont feel things are resolving go and see another gp.
ladybuzz well done to J

twinks OUCH for DH and dont think you are a horror I think you did exactly the right thing.

misdee sorry you are feeling low but agree with coolkat maybe now you know what you can give her it will be a starting point (dont think this makes sense but hope you know what I am trying to say)
LOL at sophie spinning Millie did that for a while, that and her bouncing on her tummy while her arms and legs are in the air (like skydiving)

choc and coolkat enjoy your weddings

DH and I just had an arguement I know he is frustrated as cant drive and do much just now as he only has 1 good arm at the moment but I feel like I have been doing everything and think he has been taking the piss a bit. For instance today we went shopping for a new bike for DD1 whilst our ceiling in the living room being redone (I emptied the room on my own last night) so he picked about my driving all bloody day and I actually think I am quite a good driver so does he usually, we then came home and I had to clean the living room (was really dusty) so had to wash everything and put furniture back, I changed Millie and asked him to give her the bottle, then had to go to tescos and clean the kitchen give the kids dinner then start getting them ready for bed. So sat down for about 1/2 an hour then we started bickering and I ended up crying he says everytime he says something like ouch I say whats up do you need anything (must be the nurse in me)I think I am more tired than anything as we usually bicker a bit then 10 mins later we are fine, anyhoo he is in the bath now and I am on puter.

On the plus side Millie is commando crawling and is very funny shouting mama and dada and if she wants something her hand starts opening and closing and she shouts.

ellielou02 · 14/08/2009 21:49

oooh forgot to say has anyone used veet on their bikini line, I used too and did it yesterday but dont know why but have actually burnt my fanjo a bit never left it on longer than it said, so beware of the VEET!
Thinking back now quite funny

barbareebaa · 14/08/2009 22:07

evening!
don't laugh - have just ordered some of these
we have hard shiny (er ish ) floors and W can crawl on his knees on the rug but keeps slipping onto his tummy on the laminate floor so i wondered if anyone had invented something - and they have - yay!
not at all pfb
ellie what a day you've had sweetie you sound so lovely. hope your dh feels less testy after his bath and brings you a glass of something cheeky!
twinkling poor dh and you. you made a brave decision about your dog, very unselfish.
obs have a fabulous holiday!
misdee we are in a similar boat - is rubbish!
babbling what is it? don't think billybobs doing it, he makes noises like haaaa yaaa foooo ssssss but no bababa dadada mamama. is that normal?
x

twinklingfairy · 14/08/2009 23:35

barbs J is not making any real sounds either. I mean, we get MmuMmmuMm but it doesn't really mean Mum.
Ooh, before I forget, Ellie are you using baby signing cos an open close fist is 'Milk'.
J has used it about 3 times so far which I am soooo proud of cos DD didn't sign until 11 months.
barbs those knee pads look fab, yes a bit funny, but if they help then that is all that matters.

Oh, thanks again, for the comments on the dog situation.
That is what DH said, about it being unselfish and brave to make the decision we have.

fudge M&P??
I saw a few of you mentioning it but couldn't figure out what you meant, now I get it.
What is she in for, some of the things she has tested?
Which thing, do you know, so I know where to look.

Hey, if any of you fancy buying Total BMW, DH and I are mentioned in it.
We joined in on a 'Zone Roam'. Well, led it really, from Ullapool upwards to John O'Groats and it has a one page feature
But it is just our names, ooh just remebered though I am in one of the pics but you would never recognise me, I am very small.
Must go get,...what is it, just to be sure, Mother and Baby?

misdee · 15/08/2009 08:29

the only babbling soph does is 'dadada' and squeals with laughter,. when she starts saying dadada if i'm holding her and need a break, i use it as the perfect excuse to hand her to dh

Ceebee74 · 15/08/2009 09:03

Twinkling it is Mother & Baby, Daisy is one of the testers of the double buggies. Also, as an added bonus you get a free Teletubbies plate

Barbs (love the name Billybobs btw ) I think babbling is any kind of sound - as long as they are making something. Hamsters favourite is 'da' - he says it over and over again so I am sure it must mean something but god knows what. Occasionally he will go 'dadadadad' or, even more occasionally, 'mumumumum' - but will sit there going 'da' for hours

Fudge glad M is better - there is nowt worse than vile stinky nappies is there??

I know it is too late now but Obs/Pinky have fab fab holidays

Right better go, Tommy Zoom is about to finish and DS1 will appear in a mo wanting to go on the 'puter if I don't get out of the office asap!!

coolkat · 15/08/2009 09:18

Morning ladies

Arghhh another rough night here, not sure whether Becca a minx or her ears. Taking docs on monday!

Barbs I like the idea of them pads, Becca crawling everywhere and sick of grass stains on knees and wrecking clothes. They would do the job and protect her knees of course

DH been called into work so will join me tonight at the wedding. Means having two cars there an hour away from home but TBH need the money.

Twink sorry about DH Tooth. I hate dentists

Ellie, sorry you and DH argued, I imagine its very stressful for you doing everything and sometimes I think DH could be doing more than they are when ill whereas us women plod on. Hope you have a good weekend. X

Talking wise not saying much just claps at you!

Right best go shower and put joggers on, got to leave here at 1! seems a long time but bet it will be 12 before I know it!

LackaDAISYcal · 15/08/2009 21:31

quickly checking in to say hi and that after I've caught up, I'll be available for autograph signing tomorrow afternoon

holiday great, but knackering.....children not sleeping AT ALL as it was too hot . bumble back to two or three feeds a night, although for the fiorst few nights away he didn't wake till after four and then did an allnighter so I know the little blighter can do it.

jaunita, I hope you have the biting issue resolved. DD was a biter so you have my empathy. Definately used to make me go and swear a lot.....not the way it should be discouraged, it would appear

right off to catch up, back...erm...next week sometime (have days of awards form filling to do )

MonkeyMargot · 15/08/2009 21:39

Lacks great to have you back!! glad you had good hol despite the lack of sleep. So hard when it's that hot.
Hope to see you Scrabbling soon!

Sorry i've been out of action for a while. Things have been hectic after going back to work 2 weeks ago. I'm actually enjoying using my brain again - but it is truly exhausting trying to juggle everything!

I also need some advice - the Plum is almost 9 months and eats really well - BLW worked a treat for her. My question is around milk feeds. We were down to 2 feeds a day, morning and evening which I can fit in around work.
However this morning, she slept in longer than normal (til 7am rather than 6:15am) and didn't "ask" for boobies, so I didn't offer, and we went straight to breakfast at 8am. She didn't miss it at all.
Is cutting down to one BF a day too little at 9 months? Should I be giving her some formula (she has never had any to date). She does have lots of dairy e.g. full-fat cows milk on cereal, fromage frais, cheese. Any advice greatly appreciated..:-)
