bigcar · 17/09/2009 14:40

doris, sorry to hear you've a tough routine at the moment, you must be looking forward to the iv abs ending soon. Hope dd is ok You'll find if you put your fingers in your ears at the same time, you'll definitely not hear I think we all have times when we can't get round to posting!

worried, I'm that you refer to your dp as old, he looks my sort of age and funnily enough he has the hairdo that my dh does Love your photos, especially your little mans grin

worriedamy · 17/09/2009 14:41

thanks bigcar, thats a great link!

worriedamy · 17/09/2009 14:52

sorry bigcar x-posts! Well my DP is 18 years older than me, so I do see him as a bit on the old side . He loves his designer bald patch!! I tell him the hair gods have taken his hair off him, as he can't be trusted with it after the awful things he did with his hair in his yoof!!

worriedamy · 17/09/2009 14:53

Ha, me again... must start reading posts in full!! Lol at Edward turning him self right around!! Glad he is feeling better!

LittleSarah · 17/09/2009 16:33

Hi ladies

Well my cousin and uncle have arrived so I don't think I'll be on much til next week!

We're doing well here. Strange at bedtime last night though. Alex wouldn't take the breasr, was crying quite a lot, after he went down and then of course woke up crying for a feed an hour later.

I too am looking forward to Strictly, will be watching it with my cousin and dh, who also enjoy it.

I have two grannies and two grandpas for Alexander. Molly has a grandad and grandma though. The nan type ones just weren't considered really but thinking about it I rather like Nana.

BIG news, well for us! Dh has a new job! It is in the same industry but this company is offering better wages and career advancement opportunities. His current boss can be nasty and I doubt will be understanding, but he must have realised it would happen. Dh has asked for training and advancement there and had it promised to him and then nothing happens. It means our business idea is being put on hold indefinitely which is fine but does mean I'll probably have to get a job in the new year! God I hope there is stuff out there in my 'field'.

bigcar - I'm sure E will be fine being left in time, and your dh too, just takes a little time I guess!

worried - looks a nice style to me, and I don't see a big forehead at all! Don't know what to say about Caelan's bath, that is strange, I can say that practically everything with wee ones is just a phase though.

effie and others - re doing 'it' . I have on a fairly irregular basis but I am certainly not as up for it at the moment. I don't know if it is breastfeeding, that may be part of it but also the tiredness, the baby in the bed/or near it or awake, the not feeling as sexy etc etc. I think the main problems are time and tiredness.

Right, I've been out most of the day; baby cinema in the am and then meeting my uncle and cousin, therefore the house needs my attention!

Hope everyone is doing well!

Naat · 17/09/2009 20:48

Hi all!

Wow, so much to catch up!

Worried, so sorry C has been a bit off his bath time Maybe try Bigcar's suggestions and see how it goes? I think the haircut would look great, you already have that style more or less, you'd only be adding the fringe. The most important thing is that you like it

Bigcar, oh it sounds like Edward is thriving! I hate it when people call babies "fat" Glad he's feeling much better today Thanks for the explanation about nanny goats

Skillbo, hope the jabs went well and that Jasmine enjoyed her massage. Another TV fan addict here

Doris, hi! It's great to read you again! I'm sure both you and DD want next week to come soon... Glad the treatment is going well. And don't wonder why you're tired, you're doing gazillion things! Hope you get some well deserved rest soon I also make Mila wait with her dummy sometimes but others she just spits it out and DEMANDS milk Sounds like A is doing really well!

Effie, at your SIL. I remember reading squiggle when you referred to Rupert. Does she know that you call him that? Not back to completely normal here but trying (hard) to get there... where's our mojo!!!???

Silk, will definitely give "strictly" a go tomorrow We really like "dancing on ice" as boring as that sounds I was reading your post when feeding Mila in the middle of the night and I couldn't help but laughing I imagine your inner thoughts while the doctor was telling you that

Mrsmc, oh I imagine what it might be like to suddenly wake up during the night after heavenly sleep through the night! Hope tonight she goes back to usual Mila is sleeping better, cluster feeding is working, and she wakes up once most times or twice, I can deal with that

Ermin, thanks for the info, I learn every day, as we all and I love it I don't have any problem seeing blood, it's just the awful needles that I HATE they hurt! and if I look away it's even worse as the fact I'm "waiting" for it makes me cringe

Tee, hi!!!

In our case we have abu (short for abuelo/abuela) for my parents and then full forms abuelo/abuela for PIL. They're not as "close" or affectionate let's say. My parents ask to see her and talk to her every single day through skype, which I think is sweet MIL only emails DH for pictures but nothing surprising there, and FIL is quite aloof and more old-fashioned in the sense that he's not as expressive, to put it in a way.

Ok, this post took me 4 hours I started at 5 but Mila has been quite whiny today... Teething symptoms. She's drooling like mad, her hands are in her mouth all the time (or whatever she gets to grab ) I bought some calgel tonight in case it gets worse... she's quite upset and I don't want to send poor DH to TESCO at 4am

Next month it's our 3rd wedding anniversary and I don't know yet what to get DH. I'm getting his bob book for his bday in November so I'm thinking hard!

I promise to catch up with ALL the posts I must have xposted by now

Waves to all!

Took DS & Aaliyah to the worst Mother and Baby/Toddler meeting I have ever been to this afternoon. It consisted of half a dozen footballer wives types getting sloshed on rose whilst their kids ranging from 0-5 ran riot. I had to watch DS every second as I saw little girls refusing to let him into areas or near toys and little boys (well bigger boys) attempting to push him. Aaliyah was strapped to me; I didn?t dare let her out of my sight. It made me really fear for DS when he starts school, crazy I know, it?s a long time off and I am sure he will be able to hold his own?

The temperature has taken a 5/6c nose dive the last couple of days, it is lovely but quite a shock, it feels freezing as it happened so quickly.

Silkcushion ? sorry to hear about the insults to your dignity! I?ll look out for Extreme Makeover what channel?

Ahhh got to go Aaliyah is suddenly wide awake?

June2009 · 18/09/2009 08:46

hey worried, that hairstyle is lovely, I could not see your pic ans sent a message for you to add me on FB.

worriedamy · 18/09/2009 10:40

hi everyone, just a quick post today as I'm on my phone! Bath was a tiny bit better last night as we sat him in an empty bath and washed him. V funny tho- he will scream and scream, but as soon as you wash his bits he stops crying and starts laughing! Typical boy! I'm at my mums today... hope you all have nice days! Btw, thanks for the link skillbo! Also, june, I think you can only see that pic if you are my friend on FB, so that shouldnt be a problem now!

Effielou · 18/09/2009 10:55

Morning all.

Another tearful one for me today--been to the dr today ( for spot cream ) and the flood gates opened!! I think everything from Ruperts horrid start in life, to the "sex" thing, to my Mum manic depression and not being able to talk to her about confrontational issues- the latest is her use of cannabis!!! 60yr old grannie smoking spliffs!!! ( she accused me of causing her her to overdose- hence why I can't be open with her about things- in case she does it again and suceeds and I blame myself for the rest of my life!!)-Its just all got to me!! My lovely Dr has assured me I'm "normal" ( don't think I've ever been normal-lol) and I'm not going to turn into my mother- but he'd very much like to see me in a couple of weeks to check me!! Then I burst into tears
as the receptionist in her patronising manner- said she couldn't give me an early morning appointment- so would have to make do with a 2pm one- explained that I needed one without the older 2- incase i get upset!!

I asked my Dr about swimming-- he said- go dunk him- its good for him!!!

NAAT My SIL knows I called and still call RRupert Squiggle-

I spoke to the lovely Dr about Ruperts weight and said that the HV raised her eyebrow at his weight!!! he said between me and you- the HV are a pile of poo they come in your house- check where and how you live and are obsessed by weight- and he said Rupert looks healthy and gorgeous one less thing to worry about!!!

TV in this house- me and the kids love Strictly, X factor- dancing on ice- DH hates it!!! I love watching Flyn and Imogen prancing around trying to copy the dances!! ( we have to put up with Football

My other favs are the Tudors- tonight BBC2 9pm!! gory but good and Outnumbered on BBC1- series just finished- complete genius of a sit com the kids actually make their own scripts and ad/ab lib all of it fan-blinking-tastic!!!

Sorry about my couple of miserable day- should be back to normal soon xxxx lol

have a good day every one xxxx

ps sex therapist on this morning will sky + it for DH xx lol

Naat · 18/09/2009 11:38

Skillbo, I can't find the link Where is it?

ermintrude13 · 18/09/2009 12:46

effie sounds like you have a v sensible and supportive doc there - all those things that have been bugging you have to come out somewhere and I'm glad it was into a calm and sensible ear! Hope it helped and that doc's reassurance about everything has cheered you up. xx Sorry, but the granny smoking cannabis did make me laugh

Worried Arthur is totally cool about baths now we lie him in a shaped foam thing from mothercare. I think he feels secure and can actually enjoy splashing - it also leaves me with 2 hands free. Worth a try?

The hairstyle is lovely, and I can see from your pics that whatever you go for you'll look great and your DH will agree xx

bigcar · 18/09/2009 13:42

afternoon all

naat, it was this site that the other post linked too, haven't used it personally so can't vouch for it, iyswim. Hope Milas ok with her teeth, at least you're all getting a bit more sleep now

effie, so sorry you're not feeling yourself, you've a good doctor there, spot on with the hvs explanation! Edward is over the 91st centile, so far noone has been daft enough to say anything about it to me (maybe they know better!), pretty soon he'll be moving round a lot more and he'll probably fall off the line then and drop a centile or two. I wish the hvs wouldn't obsess about charts, they are a guide, it's not necessary for the vast majority to follow a line exactly and someone is going to be at the top of the chart, someone is going to be at the bottom, doesn't mean it is wrong for either of them, that's just the way they are, iyswim. I like outnumbered too, so very funny, I just won't let my kids watch it, might give them ideas

MrsMcJnr, I'm at that group, even just for the fact they serve alcohol, here the strongest drink you'd get would be black coffee or stewed tea I would hope school would be so much better supervised, hope your ds wasn't too upset by those horrid kids.

littles, congratulations to your dh on his new job, hope you have fun with your guests

worried, I guess that makes your dp just a little older than me so of course he's still very young My dh is still in denial about his baldness, when I do his hair with the clippers he says to me you've missed a bit if I don't go over it Lol at the hair gods, might try that one with him, although it was the things he used to have on his chin and top lip that now have me screaming NOOOOO every time he mentions not shaving Pleased the bath went better

Hi All

Thanks ermin and bigcar I feel much better!! Spoken to DH and bessie friend -who will the older 2 when I go back to the Dr! I think things have just buit up and today I left off steam!

I have a very grumpy baby- wo vomits after every BF- so off to FF with gaviscon to see if that helps xxx

Have a good weekend

chocciedooby · 18/09/2009 15:46

HI everyone
Sorry have not posted for a while. I am so tired these last few weeks.

I wish I could go to bed right now but someone needs to mind the 3 kiddies

Have had a quick look at whats been going on but my brain is just not working very well.

I had to have my BP meds changed for the 4th time last week and I feel wierd.I think its the tablets but its early days so not sure if maybe its just the getting up early for school runs etc.I am feeling so drained and another strange thing that has happened to me is that every time I drink a cup of coffee I go lightheaded and dizzy. It just isn't agreeing with me and I love a good cuppa.

Elina was weighed at the helth clinic on Tuesday and was 12lbs. She had put 7ozs on in 2 weeks which was an improvement as the month before she only gained 3ozs!! After discussing her vomiting etc with the nurse she said I should try and change Elinas formula to help with the reflux. So I changed on Tuesday to Cow & Gate Comfort for sensitive tummies. It seems to be going well.It is a much thicker feed so stays in her tummy more easily and she has gone to taking 5 or 6 ozs instead of 3 which us great. She still pukes a little after feeds but its normally just smelly water.

My parents are nanny and grandpa and my Il's are Granny and Grandad

The neighbours have not dropped their kids on me since my little chat with the mother

That hair cut Worried looks fab.Couldn't see your picture

Mrsmc - that playgroup sounds awful. Can't believe they were drinking alcohol.

TV programmes - I love X Factor and Strictly! Have to record them both on sky+. DH hates them .

Sorry I haven't replied to everyone but I am going to have to tend to lo now and try to put my feet up with eyes closed whilst listening to ds's on wii .

chocciedooby · 18/09/2009 15:47

Apologies for my awful typing and spelling errors. I really rushed that post.

Naat · 18/09/2009 16:23

Hi Juners!

Will try and catch up while Mila is still napping

Choccie, yay!! Victory!!! No unnanounced visitors since the chat! So happy for you! sorry to hear about your dizziness after coffee, have you ever felt that before? Hope the meds don't give you any side effects and you feel better soon. xx

Effie, sorry to hear you're feeling a bit overwhelmed but it's great that you have such a good doctor who understands you and gives you sensible advice Sorry to hear Rupert's a bit grumpy today... Mila has been having temper tantrums sometimes these days, I blame it on the teething maybe?

Bigcar, yes, nights haven't been bad fortunately. I went to the link you posted but Hotmilk doesn't appear among the brands they use... am I still doing something wrong? Beard and moustache for me are a "no no" as well Fortunately DH doesn't like them either

Ermin, hi! How are you?

worried, hi! Enjoy your day at your mum's!

June, hi there! Hope you're not too busy these days with work.

Mrsmc, alcohol at a playgroup! I guess you're not going to that one again then Glad you're having a rest from the high temps

Today I finally started doing some pilates and I loved it, feels good to do something at least Mila behaved and stayed asleep while I exercised so even better! We went sofa hunting yesterday as we have one v v v v basic sofa we bought last year from IKEA but is already making noises (the wood) and is SO uncomfy! Given the fact I spend there loads of time BFing I asked DH if we could get something better. It's hard to choose, though We went to SCS yesterday and will go to DFS this weekend and make a decision.

Hope you're all having a nice day!!

Waves to all!

bigcar · 18/09/2009 17:19

naat, sorry, think that sites offer was a limited time only, so probably expired try this site they still have a few left, again, have never ordered from them. Dh once had this horrible goaty thing on his chin, it really didn't suit

choccie, sorry to hear you're not feeling great, do you think you've just got to get used to the new meds? Good to hear Elina has put weight on, hope that continues Funny the neighbour hasn't been round, sounds like he got a bollocking, at least it's given you a break! Ds1 is on the ps2 at the moment

effie, hope Rupert is better with the gaviscon and not so grumpy, poor thing.

Skillbo · 18/09/2009 21:29

Just having a browse whilst watching Strictly and, I don't want to say it as I absolutely loved her as a dancer, but am really NOT liking Alesha...she knows nothing and just talks fluff..

I am hoping they bring back Arlene after this season or at least someone who knows what to look for...

Anyways - still got my eye on it so will see what happens (baby brain kicked in and have only seen Martina and Matthew so far! Thank god for bbc iplayer!).

June2009 · 18/09/2009 22:05

hehe, no time to catch up or post properly...
Work is busy and all I want to do is look after my baby...

choccie can you switch to decaf? some meds have a side effect with caffeine.

how does one tell the difference between colic and reflux, and can baby have both?

C. defo has wind as I found out that she wakes up at night and is uncomfy until she passes wind. I've started infacol again.

Now she also vomits after her feeds, sometimes as long as 2 hours after. the vomitting does not look like it's bothering her very much, except sometimes she will look really uncomfy (throws her head back and straightens her whole body, also gets red and cries a litte.) and then vomits quite a bit (enough to dribble all the way down her clothes and drop onto the floor.) She does that say 5 to 10 times between feeds.

I went to see the HV who said it could be reflux and to see the GP who may prescribe gaviscon.
My GP today said to dilute her formula (add one ounce of milk) and see if that helps (doesn't look like it has so far).
Also told me she has a slight fever and to give her calpol.
She's been smiling and laughing all day so unless she is delirious and I haven't noticed I think none of this is really bothering her :S

Any tips on reflux symptoms and whether Gavison helped much appreciated!

C. is now almost 12 pounds (5.4 kilos)and 3 months today :D

bigcar · 19/09/2009 06:42

morning all

skillbo, I'm with you on that, bring back Arlene Aleisha seemed a waste of space, at least Arlene knew what she was talking about! Loved Craig calling everyone daaarling and Len with his seven, at least they haven't messed with that I haven't seen anyone that I would pick as my favourite yet, noone really seemed to stand out last night for me, oh dear, will just have to keep watching, through all dhs complaining of course

june, sorry to hear C has not been well poor little thing. I think it is quite common for reflux to be misdiagnosed as colic. Someone posted some useful sites I think earlier in the thread about reflux and colic. Dd3 had mild reflux, we tried infant gaviscon for a short time but it didn't work for her, it started settling down when she got onto solids, it also helped to slightly raise the head end of her cot. It's worth having a google as although I know very little about reflux I was never advised to dilute milk, in fact all the stuff I read said that some babies with reflux were given thickener for their milk to help it stay down. Hope it's not bothering C too much, it's horrible seeing them upset

llynnnn · 19/09/2009 08:04

morning all

june - isobel is also quite sicky a while after her feeds but mostly its just a clear smelly water (yuck!) rather than milk. like C it doesnt really bother her too much but I have been meaning to speak to the HV about it. Hope C is ok

we also love Xfactor and usually miss strictly because we are watching the other side! going to try to keep up with both this year! also love Hollyoaks here!

dd1 has been up a lot in the night with a fever. she hasnt got any other symptoms (yet) but is def not her normal bouncy self, poor thing hope he doesnt pass anything to Isobel tho

effie - sounds like you have a lovely dr, hope you are feeling better after your chat with him

choccie - sorry to hear you arent feeling yourself, you have had a lot on these last few weeks hope you find some time for yourself

sorry for not catching up with everyone, just a quick post hope everyone has nice weekends x

ermintrude13 · 19/09/2009 11:09

Morning all

MrsMc can't believe a toddler group would serve alcohol to the mums! Sounds like one to give a wide berth to in future.

June A is also a sicky baby, but so was DD and it never seemed to bother her or prevent good weight gain etc. Certainly no suggestion that he's in pain, although he does wiggle about a bit towards the end of a feed which is a sign to get him off the breast and get his wind up (he'll rarely let go voluntarily). He does MASSIVE burps, really impressive . Sometimes he's sik then and sometimes and hour or two later. Usually it's thin watery milk as though he's just releasing some overfill but occasionally it's more clotted. Check with an HV but unless C is in pain it's probably something she'll just grow out of. DD stopped being sicky once weaning was well underway so I'm hoping A will too.

btw, I've got some of those bandana bibs for A - they look much better than bibs and catch all the sick before it sticks in his neck and ruins his clothes. You can get them from Ebay in every colour imaginable.

Tee2072 · 19/09/2009 11:29

Morning all

Man, A has reverted to his old not sleeping patterns. Just as I thought we'd gotten this sleeping through thing conquered!

Still not feeling too mentally well myself, but I've at least finally been put into the system and am under evaluation for further treatment.

A has a passport!!

That's all my news. I hope everyone is doing well!
