I'm getting a bit rubbish at posting on here. Read and catch up every few days and then find myself running out of time to respond!

Dh has had the week off and we've had a fab time. We're members of the national trust and decided to visit a different place most days. On a bit of an economy drive though so have packed picnics each day rather than indulge in gorgeous Ploughman's lunches from their tearooms. It has been lovely to walk in the glorious countryside with our little girls during such lovely weather. Have also taken dd1 swimming most days at our gym. Took her last Sunday (not done much swimming with her before as she had terrible eczema until about 5 months ago) and since then she has woken me everyday with shouts of 'mummy Megan going bimming' (hope she learns to pronounce it properly but she still steadfastly insists on calling Granny 'Gary' so it's difficult to correct her when she's decided on something)

Impressed with Edward's tooth Bigcar and sorry to hear of yr dd's diagnosis

Hello to the rest of you. I will try to catch up properly when dh is back in work next week and I have my last few days of freedom

llynnnn · 13/09/2009 08:24

chocciedooby · 13/09/2009 09:20

Morning everyone

Welcome Skillbo Jasmine has the same birthday as my little Elina Siunds like you have a great little sleeper there.

Big car - thanks for your advice re:neighbours clothes. I did actually send a similar message back to what you had advised and then I saw her yesterday as well. She asked me in and I thanked her again for her kind offer etc. I also had a chat with her about how difficult my late afternoons are and that I would not be doing play dates after 5pm. I mentioned that her dh had popped around with their daughters a few times and that I had turned them away as was bad time for me etc.Didn't want to be upsetting anyone but felt it was only fair to explain that I have my hands full and had bitten off more than I could chew when trying to manage a whole street full of kids. Anyway, she understood and I do feel was somewhat surprised that DH had been coming around at such awkward times.phew.

Sorry Bigcar to hear about your dd's partial sight.

Littlesarah - Put anymore washing out??? .

Naat - sounds like the stock feeding worked. Hope you manage to do it again tonight. I am still giving Elina a top up feed at around 10.30pm. She only takes about 2ozs but sleeps through to 7 or 8am. I am wondering though what would happen if we didn't wake her for this feed. I would have tried to stop it but I am a little concerned about her weight gain. I know 2 ozs may not make a difference but.....I am getting her weighed on Tuesday. I have a feeling her reflux could be affecting how much she takes at each feed. I have hear dthat they learn to control their intake in order to avoid the pain of reflux etc .Anyone know if this is true?

Hi June, Tee and everyone else.

Soothers - Elina has one for sleeping and when very upset. I don't mind them having it and agree with tee about the thumb. She is however really trying to get the thumb in!I was a thumb sucker until I was 12 and my teeth were pushed out of shape .Soothers can be difficult to get rid of but they serve their purpose well.

chocciedooby · 13/09/2009 09:24

Hi Silk and Lynnn

Oh, DS's finger was fine. Tnanks everyone.
Have to go settle Elina for her monring nap now. Back later xx

Skillbo · 13/09/2009 14:15

Howdy and thank you all for your words of welcome...

Been having a very lazy weekend - we didn't leave the flat yesterday although MIL came round. She is very sweet but has been a broody grandma for a long time so Jazzy tends to get spoilt when she visits - which is at least twice a week. At least at the moment, the spoiling consists of non stop cuddles and some little toys - I dread to think what will happen when she gets older... I know I shouldn't complain though!

June - I hope your migraine has gone as I am sure there is nothing nicer (?) than a banging head and a crying baby!

Laura - sorry to hear you've had such problems with the implant. I have been strugging with contraception too as not a huge fan of condoms. I was on the mini-pill but due to baby brain, kept forgetting to take it so have only just stopped bleeding since the birth (apologies, TMI!!) Here's hoping you find something that works for you soon..

Tee - I know what you mean about the dummy vs thumbs. Jazzy seems to be quite a good self soother so we haven't introduced anything but when she gets tired (and I think she may be starting to teeth), she rams her whole fist in... Hope it doesn't become a habit as I really don't want her to damage her teeth..!!

Bigcar - a tooth already, wow! As mentioned, I think Jazzy is teething but not too sure... she is definitely drooling a whole lot more and seems to be uncomfortable sometimes but have had a feel of her gums and not sure if anything is there. Apparently, it is the first and last teeth which cause the most discomfort so, if true, you should be laughing...!!

Lynnnn - I know what you mean re baby brain. Only just sent off our tax credits form and realised, as I posted it, that DP hasn't signed it even though I put a note on the front to ask him too! We are right up to the 3 month backdating deadline so just waiting for it to come back.. boo!

Choccie - it's lovely that out lo's share a birthday, were you morning or afternoon? It will be interestig to see if Elina and Jazzy turn out to be similar like the old rhyme: Bonny and blithe (think means chilled out) and good and gay!

Anyways, Jazzy is having a snooze which means can indulge in a nice hot! cup of tea and some oreos (god, I was obsessed with these during pregnancy and am still overly fond!!).

Hope everyone has a nice rest of their weekend xxx

Naat · 13/09/2009 17:15

Hi all!

skillbo, another 14th June baby here and I think bunnymother's Delie shares the same birthday, but I'm not sure. They'll all be 3 months old tomorrow!!! HOw fast time passes! Glad to hear you've had a lazy weekend, I imagine with loads of rest

Choccie, that sounds great, well done! If the wife had no idea about what her DH was doing with the DC now she knows and therefore, there's no excuse for misinterpretations, you've SPELT IT OUT to them Fingers crossed for some peace and quiet around your house! Sorry to hear about Elina's reflux does she have it after every feed or is it something particular of the morning or night? Hope it passes soon.

llynn, hi!! Oh, I'm with you on the baby brain as well... and I'm usually so good at remembering things it's annoying! Glad to hear you'll have some days to spend with the family out and about. Fingers crossed for you for the weather to be lovely!

Silk, oh, it sounds like you had a wonderful time with DH and DC. LOL at Megan asking to go swimming Aww she sounds so sweet!

Right, cluster feeding (thanks Llynn for the right term ) is definitely working as yesterday Mila woke up only once... Sooooo at least for now I'll feed her like that from 8 till 10 or 10.30 It makes SUCH a difference to be able to sleep for longer!

Off for a nap now, taking advantage of Mila's

Hope you're having a lovely Sunday.

(((waves)))

ermintrude13 · 13/09/2009 19:49

Hi all, back from gorgeous wedding in Greenwich - the weather was fantastic, the bride (my baby sis) a vision of loveliness in a dress made my another sister, my speech went v well and we even loved staying in the Novotel for 2 nights and eating HUGE breakfasts! . Arthur smiled at everyone so was much in demand for cuddles.

Welcome to Skillbo and congratulations on having Jasmine.

Got to go and sort out unpacking etc but hi to everyone else and catch up soon x

bigcar · 14/09/2009 10:50

morning all

tee, so pleased you're feeling a little better Poor Adam, hope he's on the mend now!

june, Edward sometimes gets himself off to sleep, depends what mood he's in! I think tee makes a good point, at least a dummy will eventually go and is probably better than having C needing to be on you to go to sleep. Although Edward sucks his thumb sometimes, won't be able to use the dummy fairy for that 12 hours is a looooong drive, hope you managed to rest up

silk, sounds like you had a really good week! I'm loving granny gary, I think that's great, just watch it doesn't stick and everyone starts calling her gary

llynnnn, hope the bbq went well, it was quite a nice day here Dd3 is fine, her sight has been fairly much the same from birth, it was just a case of getting round to the registration when we had a better idea of what she could actually see, iyswim, she's completely used to it

choccie, hopefully that's cleared the air with your neighbours and you can relax a little. Will be interesting to see if he's knocking on the door quite so much now Pleased to hear your ds was ok.

skillbo, there's a list somewhere near the bottom of the thread with a bit more info about us and our los if you fancy a nosey I know what you mean about getting a hot cuppa, it turns into a bit of a treat some days

naat, great sleep from Mila, long may that continue Edward does the cluster feeding of his own accord, although I used to refer to it as his feeding frenzy dh always used to say it's passed 6.30pm he'll be needing feeding every half hour now! Thankfully he's settled a little now and doesn't do it quite so much

erm, your sisters wedding sounds lovely. My bil got married in Greenwich in a beautiful little church Arthur's turning into a little charmer by the sounds of it, bet he loved all the fuss

Dh has been lent a ps3 for a month or two as his friend is moving, I've barely seen him, so a quiet weekend for me Apart from all the gunfire and bombs dropping of course, lol I suppose it makes a change from ds1 on guitar hero or dd2 on singstar!

waves to all

Effielou · 14/09/2009 11:13

Question for ladies with more than one boy!!!! willies- dinkles- whatever you call them My 2 have completely different ones!!! is that normal!!! DS1s forskin hangs well below the end!! DS2 is what I'd class as normal- can't compare to DH as he does not have one!!! I've seen all shapes and sizes-( being a nurse-- not in my personal life but assumed they are different as different ppl- but thought that my boys would be the same!! Not sure whether its a trip to the drs or not!! HELP xxxxx

Anyway I'll check in later xxx oop need to get Flynn-- poo bags bye xxx

bigcar · 14/09/2009 13:00

effie, I take it when you say, dh does not have one, that you are just talking about foreskin I'm not going to be much help as my boys are fairly similar but I would say maybe more like your ds1? Are you getting Rupert weighed soon? Maybe mention it to the hv and see what she says, then see the doctor if you are still worried

Well done on getting into your jeans, long tops are great

Naat · 14/09/2009 17:12

Hi all!

Effie, yay on fitting back into your jeans! I can see the workout is working

Bigcar, ohhhh men and playstations I know I'd never see DH if he had one but glad you're getting some free time thanks to it

ermin, glad you had a great time at your sister's wedding. I can see little Arthur was a star

Hello to all Juners!

A good night last night after cluster feeding Mila from 7 to 10. Today she's 3 months old!! I can't believe it's been so long now!

I went to the doc's today as I'm losing a LOT of hair and I'm getting slightly worried about it... I have to get some blood tests done boohoo! God I hate needles! I wish he had just given me some vitamins and iron tablets Oh well! I'll gather some courage and make the appt.

Hope you're having a nice day. It's cloudy here and quite cool so I guess autumn is approaching

(((waves)))

Effielou · 14/09/2009 17:38

Hi

Pmsl bigcar just re-read post-- yes dh certainly has one!!!!! lol I will check with the HV when I see her xx

naat workouts and being strict with excess chocolate!!! I'm not not eating naughty things- but just not as much xx I also try cluster feeds and it seems to help. I hope the blood tests are not too scary xx

I made homemade veg soup yesterday and Ruperts nappies today are explosive!!!!!!

I have my smear test tomorrow!!!! eventhough had tons of internal examinations when pregnant hate them my friend passed away in July of ovarian cancer- so more determined to keep upto date on these things xxx

Have a fab evening xxxx

Tee2072 · 14/09/2009 17:45

Oh noes...chewing on hands...drooling...thrusting his tongue...I do believe he's starting to teeth!!!!!

I hope everyone has a lovely day!

OP posts:
LittleSarah · 14/09/2009 18:54

effie - dh made spicy roasted veg soup yesterday and I haven't had any poo at all! But that is my wee man's thing, he filled about four nappies in an hour yesterday but probably won't now poo til Wednesday. Well done on getting into your trews, I can squeeze into mine but too uncomfy to wear. Started a 'diet' today, nothing to strict - yet - just avoiding too much choc/crisps etc, eating healthy meals and cutting down on cheese! I so love cheese. Of course I suddenly remembered I have a big bag of minstrels in the cupboard i got last week, oops!

Naat - Glad to hear cluster feeding is working for you. Typically after being so good Alex has been waking more. Last night I felt like I had gone back in time when he wokr at 2am and 5am! Sorry to hear about your hair, I am always moulting but I think it is within normal limits. Still when I look at my brush it does seem a wee bit much at times. I'm sure it won't be anything to worry about.

bigcar - My dh would love a games console but I am trying to keep one out the house as he'd be on it every night!

Good day here. Despite tiredness managed plenty of housewifely activities which always gives me a sad wee glow, have hung my washing out choccie! I want to keep things going this week as my cousin and uncle are coming on Thursday for a long weekend and I want things to be nice without stressful last minute tidying!

Right wee man needs his bed, and the little lady!

Hello all!

Skillbo · 14/09/2009 22:06

Howdy all

It was little Jazzy's 'birthday' today as well - cannot believe it. I had to go to the dentist and on the walk across the common, I was looking at her and can't believe how much she has changed but is still the same, IYKWIM. She was cheesy grinning me most of the way as have converted the pram (she is now too long for the carrycot bit) so that she is facing me in the carseat. She obviously loves the new viewpoint - and so do I as we can now make better eye contact.

My DP is currently sat on the floor in front of me on the PS2. The amount of time he can spend beating up the computer staggers me but I guess I can't moan as can easily spend just as much time on MN!

Talking of sleeping and pooing (as I seem to do all day), Jazzy seems to have regressed too as was up a lot last night, twice with explosive poos. I don't think it's anything specific I have eaten as she tends to store it up - have also just taken her off infacol as thought would see how she's doing so think she may have just been getting rid of trapped wind. To put her back on it, or not? I kind of don't want to as am hopeful colic is a thing of the past but not sure - are any of your little ones still suffering?

Effie - I had my smear last week. For some reason I thought I would be exempt for a bit but no such luck. Am sorry to hear about your friend though and agree they are sooo important. It was a bit more uncomfortable than normal though, but I guess my cervix has taken a battering recently (sorry, TMI again, seem to be making a habit of it already).

I think my laptop is about to die and have forgotten where the power lead is (bloody baby brain again), so best go.

Take care ladies x

chocciedooby · 14/09/2009 22:28

HI Skillbo.
Elina still has a bit of colic. It was at its worst at 6 weeks but Infacol has controlled it really well ever since.
I have tried a few times to come off Infacol but she just wasn't ready. I tried again over the weekend but after the first 2 feeds of the day without it she was screaming etc all over again. We are continuing to use it for a couple more weeks and will try to come off it again then.

Hope your lo does ok without it. I read somewhere that colic normally disappears around 3 to 4 months

June2009 · 14/09/2009 23:04

Hey Juners

Thanks Tee that's the one! Calypso is also doing all these things, is it really teething? I checked today (which C. found hilarious) and there's definitely no teeth in there

naat Let us know how you get on with the hair loss, I'm loosing quite a lot as well at the moment too, finding it everywhere...

infacol we stopped it too and I don't think Calypso is ready either, so we're back on it.

I'm in a really bad mood. That stupid b*h supplier at work is stressing me out again (The one who was bullying me when I was pregnant). It's too long to get into details but AAAARRRGH!!!!.

My migraine disappeared, it was kinda like a period migraine that I used to get a few years ago.

For those on the pill, are you getting regular periods yet? My mini pill is micronor, I got a small period at the beginning of my first packet but haven't had another one since. (Not likely that I am pregnant again or anything...we've used condoms as well as I kept forgetting it - not that we've had many opportunities either.)

Re: exercising ...I had a dream that the trainers at my gym had a meeting about my weight gain! I suppose this weekend's cheese & cheesecake does not help .
For some reason I did not think I would have to work hard to get the weight off. . I bought some new trainers today, gotta start somewhere, right!

June2009 · 14/09/2009 23:39

Sorry, it did not come out right, that should read "that stupid bitch supplier"

THERE, much more satisfying.
I wouldn't want it to be left unclear you see. :D

I can sleep now ;)

Apologies for the bad language.

Tee2072 · 15/09/2009 07:17

june apparently they can have the symptoms of teething for months before any teeth actually arrive.

OP posts:
llynnnn · 15/09/2009 08:19

morning all

tee & june - sounds like teeth are on their way although with dd1 she was drooling/red cheeked and chewing for ages before a tooth appeared!!

june - sorry to hear you are having trouble with at work. can't you just fire her!!!

skillbo - Isobel likes being in her car seat in the pram so she can see me, wish i'd got a pushchair that faces me too

naat - my hair is falling out in handfuls I'm starting to get a bit concerned too but can remember it doing it last time when dd1 was about this age. my hairdresser said its to do with hormones settling back down again. I do keep thinking about getting it checked with dr though as if it carries on at this rate I'll be starting to get bald patches surely. good luck with the blood tests

effie - hope the smear goes well today and sorry to hear about your friend. mine is also due must must get the app booked

littles - good luck with the diet! i have been really trying over the last few weeks but have lost all motivation at the mo!! need to get back on it but i NEED cake and chocolate to survive!!

bigcar - glad your dd is ok. my dh also wants a ps3 but i know i would never see him again!

erm - the wedding sounds lovely, pleased you all had a good day

bbq went well, it was nice to see everyone and both girls were little angels allowing me to prepareit all etc! Isobel has just started to blow raspberrys! its so cute! she is doing it constantly. so funny when she did it right in my grandma's face! bless her! hoping to take her swimming for the first time today. she LOVES her baths so hoping she will love swimming too! fingers crossed!

hi to everyone else!! hope alls well!

Effielou · 15/09/2009 10:29

Morning Juners.

Did it- smear out of the way for 3 years, but apart of me wishes they were more frequent- what if it comes back normal and then something grows over the next 3 years!!!! Oh well I suppose with so many stories of ppl dying of cancer has got me thinking!! RIP Patrick Swayze!!!!

I have to write a message in a memory book for my friend who died- but haven't got a clue what to write! She emigrated to Oz 2years ago- so sort of lost touch- apart from FB. I only knew her for 5 years- so haven't got many memories to draw from xx The idea of the book is for the kids to remember their Mum and what she was like x I'm sure something will come in my head soon x

Happy now xx

Well- still in my jeans despite eating far to much chocolate last night!!! lol

june sod the " stupid bitch supplier" shes not worth the stress!!! If its too much perhaps you should report her-- probably not as simple as that!!!

littles My lil man goes at east twice a day and because of the gaviscon for a bit of reflux its like yellow playdoh!! but not as thick the amount of clothing I've had to smother in vanish!! My DS's and their poo!!! oh the joys xx

On the gaming -we have a Wii - but I've put it DDs room, but DH wants to bring it back down again-- hmmmm not sure about that x He would also like a PS3. My kids are always on the DS lites= but wicked Mum that I am forgets to charge it!!! so they can't play them as often x

Hi to all the other juners xxx
Have a fabby day- catch you later xx

Naat · 15/09/2009 11:35

Morning Juners!

Effie, ohh that sounds like radioactive poo It's funny how we all say more or less the same about DHs and game consoles Men, huh? I must book an appt for the smear... Interesting to hear it's every 3 years here, back in Argentina is once a year...

Tee, hi! Yeah, I read that too, that the "symptoms" can be there for weeks/months before any tooth pops out Oh well, let's get ready for loads of drooling, chewing and blushed cheeks

Llynn, glad the bbq went well Loads of raspberries here too

June, so sorry to hear the b is giving you a hard time... anything you can do about her? Glad the migraine has gone now, nothing worse than migraines!

Choccie, hi! Sorry to hear Elina's colic is not completely gone yet... fingers crossed for it to be over soon

LittleS, hi! Ouch, sorry to hear Alex has been waking at night, hope he goes back to all nighters soon

Skillbo, Mila was on infacol for the first month or so, as the first 4 nights she suffered A LOT with trapped wind and the cry was just heartbreaking poor lamb... we weaned her off after week 4 and fortunately she was fine... I don't think there'd be any problem reintroducing it if you feel she might be suffering from colic again? Maybe some more experienced Juners can give you better advice

Right, doctor said it's quite normal to lose hair after pgcy BUT as I was anaemic just before getting pregnant, he wanted to be sure and that's why he sent some blood tests. I'm also quite dizzy when changing positions so I guess that might be a hint my iron levels are a bit off

I talked to my dad through skype yesterday and he was quite sad he says he misses us and Mila too much... He asked me to visit soon, he said he'd give us all of their miles just to go soon...

Hope you're all having a nice day... waves to all!!!

xxx

ermintrude13 · 15/09/2009 12:31

Naat If you are anaemic and they give you iron it should make a difference soon - hopefully before you have to have a comb-over .

Effie I too am in my pre-preg jeans, although shall we say I'm challenging the top button quite seriously . I was already a bit too plump so am glad Christmas is a nice long time away and I can try just to lose 1lb per week and see a real difference by the end of the year. (in reality I'll put some on and then start starving myself on the first day of advent...)

Hope you find the words to write for your friend - how awful, and what a reminder to keep going for those smears however unpleasant they are.

June are you not keen on this supplier by any chance? . Why do some people make it their business to make other people's lives difficult? Try to ignore her, silly moo.

Lynn glad BBQ went well. I know exactly how you feel about the need for chocolate

bigcar · 15/09/2009 13:52

afternoon all

effie, sorry to hear about your friend have you any photos you could put in the book? Photos of a loved one become so much more precious when they are gone. I think I was about 16/17 when dirty dancing came out, just the right age to sit there thinking aahhhh, iyswim Somehow I seem to keep loosing the chargers for the DSs too

littles, dh goes through phases with the games, he'll play for days in a row and then not touch it for a while, thankfully he knows when it's time to play with the kids or help out.

june, good on you for restarting the exercise I think you got your point over about your supplier

llynnnn, I also NEED chocolate, surely it's a must, no? I'm trying not to each much but when I do, dd3 stands in front of me and gives me that, share or else, look, not a bad thing given she really struggles to put weight on! How did swimming go, hope you all had a good time

naat, sorry to hear about your hair, that's no fun. Spinach for dinner for you?! Your dad sounds a real sweetie, it must be so hard to be that far away from family.

Can I admit to being really sad now? I'm actually quite looking forward to the new series of strictly come dancing Won't quite be the same without arsey Arlene but it never fails to make me smile. Dh on the other hand hates it, won't miss an episode but hates it The kids love it too, dd2 is totally enamoured with all the sparkley dresses

I got soaked taking dd3 to nursery at lunch time, hope it holds off later for the school run [ever hopeful emoticon] waves to all

silkcushion · 15/09/2009 16:51

ok Big I'll sneak out of the closet and admit to being a massive strictly fan -- and dh is too when does it start?
