God June, I hope you dont have to watch who has the baby or where they go- Caelan has been out and about all over the place, and everyone always wants to hold him!!!

Wow MrsM- get you booking your christening!! I think it might be a bit longer before Caelan gets Christened... me and DP are meant to be getting married next Aug (have the church booked), and the house is up for sale (has been for 12 months, snore ) so I dont think I could try and organise much else at the mo!

Silk- like ermin said, I can't believe your doing decorating, AND going back to work soon! I feel proud of myself if I'm out of my pyjamas before 12!! And loving your pics too!!

Bigcar- glad you haven't got to worry about the dog anymore. I'm not much of a big smelly dog person either, we have a little cavalier king charles spaniel called Ellie, who is 18 months old now! She is feeling a bit put out at the mo she was my little baby till 6 weeks ago!

Little S- I love going to my mums too, for the same reason!! She does pretty much everything but feed Caelan for me, while I get to put my feet up on the couch!!

Well, just got back from weighing Caelan. He is 9lb 9ozs now, which I am relieved about. Still on the 25th centile, but 12 ozs in two weeks, so I am happy!!

appletiser · 13/08/2009 16:20

well - im a first timer mum.. ds is now 7 and half wks.. we were given the keys of our new house 3 days after ds was born - and as it was just a shell of a house and i had a complicated delivery i was staying at my mums.. moved back to mine 2wks ago..have had workmen in constantly and house still isnt done.. and fil was staying with me.. finally this week.. starting to get into some kind of routine
silk - wow well done on the decorating.. how do you find the energy!

Ineedmorechocolatenow · 13/08/2009 17:01

Hello all!

I've been meaning to catch up for ages, and time has just flown by.

All good here in the chocolate household. DD is growing like mad. She sometimes does 6 hour gaps at night between feeds, though last night was every two hours again (growth spurt?) she's 10 and a half weeks now.

DH is busy building the shed at the end of the garden. We're also trying to sell his car so that we can buy a people carrier. I'm fed up of going shopping with NO space in the boot for anything. It was ridiculous going down to my parents' house at the weekend and having to stuff everything in the foot-wells and between the car seats as the boot was full of buggy / pram. So it's a Vauxhall Zafira for us....

BF is going well. I can't believe I've made it this far as I had such a bloody (literally) nightmare when I tried with DS. It's been so much easier this time and I'm loving it. DD is obviously much more of a pro than her brother was.

My sister had her little girl and used my girl name (for those who remember - she stole the name I was going to use and announced it on Facebook rather than have a conversation with me about it).

My insomnia has reared its ugly head as my body clock is so messed up. Last night I was so bloody knackered, and DD decided to wake every two hours.....

Anyway. Will try and catch up more regularly from now on. I'll also try and catch up on all your news rather than writing 'me' posts all the time.....

bigcar · 13/08/2009 17:28

worried, so pleased Caelans put so much weight on must be a relief! Nothing wrong with the 25th centile, dd3 is just under that one Hope Ellie isn't getting too

apple, good to see you back That doesn't sound like my idea of fun, hope it's not too long till the house is sorted! Congrats on your ds

ineed, good to hear all's well Yep, remember you being upset with your sister, quite rightly, what a cheek! Hope you catch up on that sleep!

Edward's having a don't put me down day, so getting bugger all done today, apart from mning waves to all

ermintrude13 · 13/08/2009 18:55

bigcar 10 hours sleep!! . That's fab. Really. again...
We got our two pusscats 2 yrs ago when I really thought I wouldn't be able to conceive and although I didn't get them as a replacement consciously it must have been there somewhere . They avoid Arthur - haven't found them sitting on his head! - but are interested in his crib when he isn't in it so we have to be careful to shut doors etc. DD is delighted to have them because they are sisters so she is able to say that there are more girls in the family than boys .

appletiser hello again, don't worry about making brief appearances when you can. Sounds like you've had such a busy time; hope you're getting a bit of rest but doubt it!

ineed - yup, we've sold DH's Peugot and bought a Zafira. You can get great deals - ours is a 'Life' model, 1 yr old, perfect condition, 9000 miles on the clock and just under £10,000! I don't know why anyone would buy new since it depreciates by a third as soon as you drive it off. And there were loads of other good ones at the dealers. So far it's working out really well and will be tested up the A1 to Edinburgh on Monday...

Well done with the b/feeding. And yahboo sucks to your sister . Hope her little girl is doing well.

june as others have said, you can't keep baby cocooned until jabs, just hope that people are thoughtful and keep their sniffles away. But that's almost impossible with other DC around.

Naat that bra sounds like a bargain. I'm liking the nursing vest though - use it as a pj top and feel slightly more covered than just sleeping in a nursing bra, although I do that too.

Tee2072 · 13/08/2009 19:19

bigcar I think Edward and Adam are conspiring, because also had a don't put down day here!!

OP posts:
Naat · 13/08/2009 19:21

Hi Juners!!!

Wow! Chatty day here I feel behind again

Let's see how much I remember

worried, great weight gain for Caelan! Don't worry too much about charts, as other Juners advised it's just something HVs are obsessed with most times

Apple, great to hear from you again! So sorry to hear life is so hectic nowadays!! Hope the house is done soon

Ineed, great sleep Emily is having, lady! (except for these last few nights, as you said) But boo hoo to the insomnia you're having Hope you're able to sleep well again soon

Bigcar, hi! glad to know you're not dogsitting anymore, poor you!! I'm not a smelly dog person either

Ermin, hi! great weight gain mr Arthur!

Choccie, hope E's jabs were not too painful Hope she goes back to a full full night's sleep soon

Llynn, I sympathise! Mila is the same at night! When she wakes to feed she nodds off and wakes up time and time again so it takes aaaaaaaaages, even if I poke her to wake her

thank you all for the vocab help Mila has chosen one for the moment at least... it's a comfort blanket DH bought for her the day after she was born, but I wanted to know what the reg toys were called, thank you!

Still sightseeing galore here with FIL and wife. Quite tired TBH and Mila is waking up mre at night esp because she sleeps almost all the time, as she's on the car seat a LOT these days due to all the sightseeing

We went to get our ID cards today (we (aliens) all need them now) and it was funny getting Mila to look at the camera and not cry after we had to wake her for her pic, bless her...

One handed now so I'll say good-bye . Hope you're having a lovely sunny afternoon.

xxx

Naat · 13/08/2009 19:36

xpost!
Ermin, it's an emma-jane. I think you mentioned you had one as well. It's fab, really comfy AND supportive at the same time Nursing vests sound great as well, I must look into those

Tee, hi!

LittleSarah · 14/08/2009 09:36

Morning all!

Great night last night, Alex slept from 7.30pm to 6am (then back to sleep til 8.30am). More of that please!

Saw my wee niece yesterday, so teeny next to Alex, and adorable of course. Just incredible to see how they've grown in such little time!

MrsMcJnr · 14/08/2009 12:28

Typed this last night but MN was down when I came to post it?..

Hey there My DS escaped from his cot this afternoon now I have no containment places! He?s only 18 months; I thought I would have a bit longer before he could do that

Aaliyah was up twice last night and DS once. I wish I knew what the recipe for a good night is and what causes it all to go pear shaped

I think I am ovulating I can?t believe it ? DS was sleeping through (10 hours) from 8 weeks and I didn?t ovulate until he was 7 months old, Aaliyah is only just 2 months, mind you I guess I am currently using the best contraception anyway? abstinence!

Aaliyah has her 2 month health check tomorrow and then I can arrange her first jabs

Naat ? I find that Aaliyah sleeps when we are out too and doesn?t feed as much hence needing more milk in the night. I hate it when nursing tops sag after you?ve fed in them, I am forever covering up my bra sometimes when I have to deal with DH I think he is a child, honestly! To date neither of my DCs have a favourite toy but both of my nephews do.

Tee ? does Adam make his Amby clank in the night? DH is complaining, Aaliyah bounces about in it all night, I think she likes it though. Have you or are you going to buy the Jump Jump? I got one on eBay but never used it with DS as I had a door bouncer instead but we have such a big terrace now that I can see us using it out there.

Ermintrude ? my cats were my babies but they have been side lined by my less furry babies luckily it is too hot for the cat to want to snuggle up to Aaliyah but I am watching her like a hawk anyway. She comes to tell me when either of the children are crying, as if I can?t hear them myself! I sleep in a nursing bra, I wish I could sleep without it, it seems ages since I could wear my favourite pjs ? nothing. Lovely that your DH and DCs are musical, I wish I was! I have 9 weeks before the Christening so I could lose just over a stone if I set my mind to it which would be great but I love sweet things so much a wrap dress is a great idea, very flattering.

Hey Bigcar I love the talking too, so sweet DCs were less grumpy today but let?s see if they sleep better tonight Black star for your MIL, very selfish behaviour!

Ineedmore ? like you I am finding BFing a lot easier this time, last time was so stressful and such a palava but now it is fairly easy though one nipple is still a bit sore and cracked but it is healing. Can?t believe your sister!

Hello there Applestiser what a whirlwind you are going through! Nice to hear from you

Worriedamy ? great to hear the feeding is so much better DS was 9 months when we christened him. We are constrained by the size of the family gown (my mother had her wedding dress made into one for me and since then 5 more babies have worn it ? including 2 sisters, 2 nephews and my DS) as Aaliyah is quite big I am glad she will be wearing it sooner than later. The christening is 9 weeks on Sunday so she?ll be 18 weeks. How about having a christening at your wedding? Good luck with selling the house, when we emigrated we took 18 months to sell but it went in the end for a good price. Glad to hear Caelan is doing well what a cutie he is! My DS hasn?t had a hair cut yet, just a fringe trim, I can?t bear to cute off his beautiful blond curls.

June ? have to say, I was a bit concerned when I had Aaliyah in A&E last week when DS cut his head but I have been far less concerned about her catching things than I was with DS but she was born in the summer in Spain and we are outdoors all the time and he was born in Scotland in the snow in January so I think that is why my attitude is different.

Choccie ?Hope the jags went well. I keep reminding myself how privileged we are to be able to get our children vaccinated but it doesn?t make you feel better about it at the time.

Llynnnn ? I?m like you, no way I can have the PC on when DS is awake!

Littlesarah ? glad to hear that you have had some R&R congrats on being an Auntie!

Silk ? wow, what a domestic goddess you are! I love duck egg blue you are brave having a coil, ouch! How cute are your girls! is that you in the pic?

Doris ? I know what you mean about the weeks going so fast. I just can believe it; I want them to slow down. Sounds like you need some R&R, take care of yourself!

Hey Laura ? glad to hear Sarah is well. I am still using level 2 teats with DS at 18 months, he doesn?t like the faster ones unless it is night milk, I?m not surprised, and the milk pours out of the level 3 ones.

Roll on September, it?s over 30c in here and it?s close to midnight! Sleep well all

MrsMcJnr · 14/08/2009 12:49

Aaliyah had her 2 month health check today, she weighs 6.04kgs and is 62cms long. All seemed fine and the Dr was keen to point out that she looks great but they are sending her for 2 scans one to check there are no lesions behind the birth marks on her face (DS had exactly the same marks and they faded by 6 months so I haven't worried about them) and one to make sure her legs and hips are fine because the Dr thought that one buttock seemed slightly lower than the other I couldn't tell due to all the lovely chub! I guess it is good that they are thorough! I am also to give her Vit D drops - in this climate?!

silkcushion · 14/08/2009 20:01

evening all

MrsM - yes that's a photo of me with Megan so Xmas 2007. I was a little naive about the coil - had no idea how uncomfortable it was going to be to fit it. Think dh was looking forward to resuming 'relations' but Megan's had other ideas and had two nights of being awake from 4am. Did explain to dh that by 10pm all I want to do is sleep not shag!!!

Eleri slept in her own room last night and I felt quite bereft at not having her cot right next to my side of the bed. But I need to establish some sort of a routine with both girls before returning to work. Evening seems sorted - Eleri has fitted into the bathtime/bedtime thing easily. Mornings are going to be tougher - not sure how dh will cope with 2 of them on the days where I need to leave early. I also need to wean Eleri off bf but find myself suprisingly reluctant as I now enjoy it.

Bathroom finished and looking lovely. Looking forward to a relaxing weekend with dh and the girls. Nothing urgent to be done so lots of chilling and walking. Must go swimming/to the gym too. Got to shift some weight. Doctor who fitted my coil offered to prescribe me weight loss drugs because I'm so big

ermintrude13 · 14/08/2009 20:15

silk Well done on finishing the bathroom - and for getting baby to fit in with bedtime routine, I fear it'll be a while before we manage that here.

If you don't want to stop b/f, is expressing an option? Otherwise you could wind it down to just morning and evening feeds, or even just one - it's amazing how your body will respond to those sort of messages: because DS1 wouldn't take any sort of milk from any sort of receptacle he would come back from his 3 nursery days and have huge feeds, but even though I wasn't expressing on my work days(because he wouldn't drink it) I still produced enough milk to feed him on demand on the 3 days per week I was with him.

Just realised I've not eaten since lunchtime so have handed baby over to daddy and will go for some supper. night night x

chocciedooby · 14/08/2009 22:36

Hi everyone.
Well I have just had my dinner (scrambled eggs on toast)! Also realised Ermin that I had not eaten anything since lunchtime either.

Had a very long day today. Got the cleaning crowd in that are my health insurance freebie and they did a great job but I had to hang around whilst they were here for 2 hours when I had lots to do for our holiday tomorrow. (Friends of ours are moving in for the week that we are away as they are getting building work done, wanted the place to look half decent). Anyway, once cleaners were done the boys went to play at a neighbours and Elina and I went off to shops to get some bits and bobs urgently needed. Then the kids returned along with their friend and other neighbours daughter. It was lovely seeing all the kids playing but when tea time came I ended up feeding 5 children and fed Elina her bottle at the same time!!!!! Then another 6 yr old dropped in and had dessert so it was me and 7 kids!!!!!I am exhausted now. DH was also home late as had drinks from work. When he came in the door I was ready to have a breakdown. Handed him Elina and made my eggs.

Silk - what coil did you have fitted? Is it the Mirena or the traditional copper coil? I am thinking of getting one and want to know what it entails.

Mrsmc - wow thats early for DS to be escaping from the cot. Don't they always time things just right!!!! .

It was so upsetting yesterday when Elina had her jabs. She was really upset and cried a good bit for the rest of the day. She is ok now.

HI Naat, Tee, Littlesarah, Bigcar and everyone else

chocciedooby · 14/08/2009 22:38

Has anyone had their period yet? I can't remember when it comes back. I am bottle feeding and Elina is nearly 9 weeks old.

Have to go iron the kids clothes now. I am s.h.a.t.t.e.r.e.d.

June2009 · 15/08/2009 09:17

choccie 7 kids!!!
I'm having my first period now, 7 days after starting the mini pill (micronor). Not sure that's supposed to happen to be honest and I'm already fed up with taking it.
Serioulsy looking into the contraceptive implant, I'd like to post on mn somewhere to ask about it but not sure where the best place is? Maybe "pregnancy", it seemed to cover a lot of stuff.

C. is having her jabs next Friday, I'm thinking of having it moved either forward or back a bit just in case she gets ill as the surgery is closed at weekends.

Have any of your babies got mongolian birthmarks? C. has a big blue one on one of her buttocks and going up to her back, it'll hopefully fade as it's quite dark.
I had a birthmark on my ankle that faded away quite late, maybe when I was 14. I didn't mind it but dh is worried that if it stays C. might develop a complex about it and not want to wear a swimsuit.
I was worried they'd think it was a bruise and call social services at baby massage! I wonder if we should have it written down somewhere on her red book so that it is never thought to be aome kind of abuse!
We've been twice so far and also done it twice at home and she loves it, she's one chilled baby after! :D

There's a pushymothers' buggy workout group in a park nearby, thinking of joining that next month.
apparently if you take baby to the library and sign them up for a card they give you free books. (there's a thing about it at the back of the red book.)

Calypso has been weighed this week (they don't measure them anymore round here.) She's 4.6 kilos / 10 pounds and 8 weeks now :D
worried my little one is also on 25th percentile, there is absolutely nothing to worry about as long as it's fairly constant weight gain. I wouldn't worry either is she put on weight and went to a higher percentile, I would worry if she lost weight though.

naat How are you? I hope you'll find a new flat with better neighbours. Ours are ok but leave their bins outside which bring rats and now we have rats underneath our house chewing pipes...we've had pest control come and put poison and they found baby rats which is not good news. now we have to fix the pipes so the rats can't get in anymore.

mrsmc
I don't know how you cope with this heat :D where abouts are you in spain? A friend of mine who lives in spain (Madrid or barcelona, can never remember) is visiting next week, can't wait to see her again.
Hope you're ok and made a decision about the jabs. Do they offer payment plans?

I just realised they don't give BCG here anymore, has anyone insisted on having it done anyway?

Ladies who had cesareans, are you all healed and feeling better now? I started feeling better around week 6 but I still get the odd pain inside, sometimes a shooting pain and i still find it hard to get up from kneeling on the floor. The ladies at baby massage also had c-sections and they're the same with the getting up.

Tee I love your idea of writing letters to Adam, I think I might do that too!

littlesarah, Laura how are you doing?

Daisy how's fraser's constipation? Hope he is better.

erm by 5pm yesterday all I'd had was a jaffa cake and a nutty cereal bar We went shopping to make sure there'd be some quick stuff handy in the fridge for me.
I decided not to go to the group in the end, too worried about swine flu, there were lots of cases here before summer holiday, some schools were closed and more and more people I know have got it. (I know the jabs don't make a difference to that.)

If the weather is nice we're going to pic-nic on sunday and see a band in a parc, really looking forward to that!

I have to go for now, speak to you soon!

Tee2072 · 15/08/2009 09:36

Hi All

choccie not yet. My GP told me to wait on starting the pill until I got it, so being very impatient! 'Family relations' to start here very very soon and would love to not have to use condoms!

worried I agree with everyone else. Don't worry about him being a 25th. The average is, after all, an average, so some will be under and some over!

mrsmcJ I knew someone had asked me about the bouncer, but I was thinking it was on another thread I belong to! We are thinking about it, but haven't decided one way or another yet. No, his amby doesn't clank!

Weather is horrid here, so I am staying in while DH heads to market to get food in for the rest of the weekend. The good news is that if Adam is obviously sleepy, putting him down makes him sleep!! Now if that sleep would only last all night long!

Hello everyone else. Hope everyone is hanging in there. Personally, the lack of consistent sleep is beginning to get to me a bit. But I'll manage!!

OP posts:
June2009 · 15/08/2009 10:50

tee can dh do a few feeds in a row so you get a few hours in a row?
dh has done that three times so far and it's helped a lot.

bigcar · 15/08/2009 12:05

morning all

choccie, hope all those kids didn't make a mess after the cleaners finished! Am very of your cleaners, sounds wonderful! Enjoy your hols

naat, I don't envy you having to get Milas photos done, I remember getting dd3s passport ones done, it took ages

silk, very impressed with the decorating and getting Eleri into a routine Edward sleeps really well at night but we need to get him to go to sleep earlier so that he's waking about 7am rather than 8.30 or we'll never make it to school in the mornings when they all go back.

june, you could try posting on the general health topic, seen a few contraceptive threads there. Edward has a couple of stork marks, dd1 had them too but they fade eventually, wouldn't hurt to get your hv to make a note in Cs red book Baby massage sounds lovely, we won't be able to do it as there is a waiting list here and the timing won't fit round school pick up times My scar has healed nicely now, I seem to remember from last time that it took a good few months for everything to get completely back to normal, I've still got some numb and tender patches below my belly button and as for getting off the floor........ not going to happen quickly, I'm thinking of investing in a fork lift I'm looking on the bright side, at least I can get up unaided now, more than I could manage when pregnant!

tee, hope Adam gets into night sleeping soon, junes idea sounds good

I wish I could forget to eat, I'm starving most of the time I think I'm going to end up putting weight on bf again like last time! Dd2 and ds1 camped out in the garden last night, at least it didn't rain, I thought they'd be back in by midnight as they are the sort of kids that always put the lights on indoors but they managed all night Dh wasn't impressed as he had to sleep on the sofa to keep an eye on them, he'd told them ghost stories, about the local foxes and snakes that would eat them and they still didn't come in!

I have a date with the iron again today! Waves to all

Naat · 15/08/2009 12:45

Hi Juners!!

June, no period here yet. No idea when it'll come btw We asked for a BCG as it's still given in LatAm. They told us we're going to get an appointment by post as it's given in a separate clinic. at your neighbours! Are those the same that started the whole tree issue? Glad you're enjoying baby massage I've been meaning to go but the children's centre was closed some weeks ago because an LO got swine flu and don't know if it's open now again..

Tee, weather is really bad here as well but will have to go out anyway as we're stil with visitors... Hope Adam takes a long nap o that mummy can take one as well

Choccie, cleaning house freebie? That sounds fab!! And 7 kids! Hats off to you, lady Hope you have great holidays!!! Enjoy and hope you can rest a loooooot

Ermin, hi! Don't forget to feed yourself

Silk, well done on the bathroom front! and even better on the routine front! With all this thing of having visitors every now and again and her sleeping so much during the day it's impossible!! Reaaaaaaaaaaally looking forward to visits ending I sound horrible, don't I?

Mrsmc, Aaliyah is thriving!!! LOL at your cat telling you when the LOs are crying I loove cats, I miss ours, she's in Buenos Aires with a friend.

LittleS, great night!!! almost 12 hours!!! Lucky lady Hope he continues like that!

HI to all the rest of the Juners!!

Right, tomorrow is the last day of visitors at home, so we'll have some rest It's times like this I can clearly see what a control freak I am It's the tiny things that push my buttons! I've done a great job and counted up to 100 and not said a thing out loud

Not a bad night here, Mila slept from 12 to 3.50 and then from 4.30 till 6.30 so not too bad... Reaaaaaaaaaaaaally looking forward to a FULL night's sleep

Hope you have a lovely weekend!

(((waves)))

Naat · 15/08/2009 12:50

xpost Bigcar!
Also starving here as well Not a chance of forgetting to eat Awww at DC camping out in the garden glad it didn't rain Hope you don't have too much ironing to do

Ineedmorechocolatenow · 15/08/2009 18:24

Hello all!

LittleS - Wow! I hope DD takes after Alex and sleeps like that! She went from 9pm to 5am last night, so I think she's on her way.

DD's been in her own room since she was 6 weeks old, and she seems to be far more settled in there (or maybe I'm just not jumping to pick her up every time she stirs)

Doing Slimming World and have lost 4lbs in a week! It's great. I've got 11lbs to lose to get to pre-pregnancy weight, but ideally I'd like to lose 1stone 5lbs.....

we've been potty training for three weeks now. DS had his first dry day yesterday, and a mostly (!) dry day today....

x

Tee2072 · 15/08/2009 18:34

If any group of ladies will appreciate this, y'all will.

So DH has been infinitively patient waiting for me to feel healed enough from the CS to have sex. So I said to him, this weekend? We're on! I even bought new undies and lingerie!

So we've been trying to get Adam to go to sleep for an afternoon. No go. So I suggested tonight, after Adam goes down around 10, as he usually sleeps for at least 2 hours at that point.

So what just happened? I got my period!!!! DH is very squeamish about blood....

Of course the good news is that now I can start my BCP!!

OP posts:
June2009 · 15/08/2009 18:45

hey Tee same here... my pill was supposed to start working on Tuesday, and what happens...my period!!
What's BCP?

silkcushion · 15/08/2009 19:04

Tee - yr poor dh perhaps he'll burst?

My dh has probably given up hope especially since I hate sex whilst heavily pg too. Actually he's ever the optimist and gave me a cheeky wink and a hopeful look earlier - you never know maybe tonight will be the night.

Choccie - I've gone for the Mirena because a couple of GP friends have it and say it's excellent. Female GP at my surgery who fitted it said the same and has one personally. However, it was a bit painful to have it fitted (she recommended 2 paracetamol and and ibuprofen an hour beforehand). Also since Tuesday evening I have been having period type cramps and a little bit of spotting (common side effects I believe). In fact, we went for a 2 hour walk today with the girls and the cramps got really uncomfortable. Hoping this will all subside. I'm seeing my GP next week for my 8 week check and I'll ask him then if this is normal to feel like this. If it is then I might have it removed.

Big - I know what you mean about the waking time in the morning. Eleri currently wakes between 5.30 and 6.30 but goes straight back down for a sleep until 9ish - not going to work when I have to drop them both at 8am.

Off to do the ironing and maybe have sex
