worriedamy he's gorgeous! Adam also has quite a bit of hair, which DH keeps saying needs cutting, but I am doing no cutting for at least a year!

Today Adam is 2 months old ! Where does the time go! The great sleep was a one off, back to old pattern last night.

ermintrude13 · 11/08/2009 09:56

Worried Caelan is an absolute poppet, what a cute face!
I didn't cut DS's mop of blond curls until he was over 2 and even then I felt like crying, so I'm the wrong person to ask about baby boys' haircuts!

My DD wouldn't take EBM if she knew I was nearby so it may be just as well you're not there. I'm certainly planning to be well out of the way (at the hairdressers) when DH tries it out on Arthur.

lauraloo09 · 11/08/2009 10:25

hiya everyone sorry its been a while since i was last on.

tee can't believe Adam is 2 months old, where does the time go!

worried the photos of Caelen are lovely, what a beautiful boy you have!

A big hello to the rest of the lovely juners i hope you and your babies are well x

Well Sarah been a bit better and is now 7 weeks old today. We both still have our off days and I feel I am able to cope better with the off days now
Just wondering if someone can advise me. Sarah hardly ever finishes a 5oz bottle and not sure if I should change the teats. I'm not sure if she is making herself tired by working hard at getting the milk out of the teats I am currently using. I use Tommee Tippee bottles and was thinking of buying variflow teats, what do you guys think?

June2009 · 11/08/2009 12:06

Laura when I asked the midwife abuot the teats she said that we don't need to change it until much much later.
I think there is a guideline on their site.

Naat · 11/08/2009 19:26

Hello Juners!!!

I'm soooooooooooooooo behind!!!

My FIL arrived on Sunday with his wife and we've been out and about ALL the time I've been reading your posts, though, but can't remember a thing DH has taken the week off so we're tour guides again

Glad to hear everyone is fine.

Worried, Caelan's pics are amaaaaaaaaaaazing! A head full of hair, just like Mila

Tee, happy 2 months to Adam!!!

Have put a couple of new pictures of my girls on my profile.

Had a coil fitted today - not a pleasant experience.

Hi all,

Not been on for agesssss as rl caught up with me (oh and having dd1 home all the time) It has taken me 2 nights just to catch up with all the news.

Unfortaunatley now I can't remember half of it, so this will just be a bland me post sorry .

A is now 9 weeks!!!!! I really do not know where time has gone the other two seemed really tiny forever but she just seems to grow and suddenly it's another week gone...She's nearly ready to move from her moses basket but I'm hanging on for as long as possible as I love having her near, and it's the last time i'll be using it, so I want it to just do for alittle bit longer, although we already have her cot in our room.

I am struggling to get much done with A wanting feeds (although she is normally V chilled, if I am 'naughty' with dairy I have to pay the price later!!) and dd2 needing meds and physio. Although we now have outide space which is useable and the eldest 2 have been in and out everyday just having a fab time, it has really made their summer and makes me less stressed about getting them out.

Now we have a posh new patio I have been using eveings to renovate our old garden furniture ( nothing nasty is going on my precious patio) It's great being able to break out the power tools although I've gone at it lke a bull in a china shop done too much and overtired myself and now have cold sores and feel like sh*t. So have a couple of nights off.

Sold all my mat clothes on ebay last week in 2 bundles so now have money to buy new nursing bras or tops .

With regard to 'conjugal rights' no action here partly because we never have the time when children aren't around and were in the ood, but also were waiting til dh has been 'done'. Sorry for anyone who struggled for the little blue line but I get pregnant V easily (but on the flip side have dreadful pregnancy) so we are not taking ANY chances!!!!

Enough of my waffle good to 'see' you're all doing really well. I'm going to try and be a bit more regular again now I no longer have builders etc...

Night all

Doris

Naat · 12/08/2009 09:23

Hi all!
Taking advantage of the early hour to post

Not a very rested night... Mila went to bed at 11 but at 1.20 woke up crying badly due to a bad dream I guess, as she was completely asleep but couldn't stop crying. I put her to the breast and in 5 min she was OK and she continued sleeping until 3.50, she fed and slept from about 5 till 7. Now that I write it it doesn't look that bad but I'm knackered

Doris, congratulations on the new patio, it's so great to know the DDs can play there no matter the weather or anything, isn't it? In case you're interested, I bought two nursing tops in H&M for 16.99, and the fabric is great! (much better than the one mothercare sells) It is somewhat stretch so after you move the front to feed the baby it comes back without being all stretched out and "big" and I bought a nursing bra from figleaves.com (I saw the link on a thread here) and it was 13.00! It's a nursing/sleep bra. You have a good variety and prices go from 10 pounds Sorry if you already know where you're buying these and I rambled on

Silk, beautiful pictures!!! I must upload some more here Mila is sleeping in her cot in our bedroom, as I have the moses in the living room (and I needed the space in her room for the visitors we have now)

Laura, good to hear you're feeling better Happy 7 weeks to Sarah!

Ermin, at your DD not taking EBM if you were near How clever! Mila takes it without a problem, fortunately, and daddy has a great time feeding her Oh, to make you drool a bit more, the flapjacks I'm talking about are the ones that come filled with blueberry jam or caramel (God I'm starving now)

Mrsmc, glad to hear Aaliya is enjoying her baby chairs Mila is a swing baby Sorry DH is not behaving (God, that sounds awful, as if we were talking about children). I'm with Tee, he neeeeeeeeeds a nice kick in the butt to WAKE UP! (sorry ) Hope this week is being better.

Choccie, hats off to you, lady. The zoo with both boys and Elina! No wonder you were knackered but I guess you all had a good time as well

June, LOL at the varied range of condoms I had a look at the bumbo seat, it's great!

One question, what do you call here those toys LOs choose when they are tiny and carry them everywhere? I mean, that toy that they choose and is the absolute favourite and beloved one without which they cannot function

(((waves)))

bigcar · 12/08/2009 14:02

afternoon all

I'm having real trouble at the moment finding time to keep up properly, the school holidays are just speeding by and we don't really seem to have done very much at all! And as for the homework ......... well that's just going to have to wait

My mil has managed to really piss me off, which is very unusual for her, we usually get on great, I have no close family of my own so they are kind of important to me We've known for ages that they were off to visit bil and his family overseas and assumed they had sorted someone to look after their untrained and rather loopy, very large dog, no, they expected us to do it with a new baby and a house that really isn't suitable. Mil rang dh on thursday morning and told him, they were going on saturday, thankfully they'll be back today. Luckily dh had the sense to say no to her, but it has meant one of us going over to their house 4 times a day to feed, water and walk him [seriously unimpressed emoticon] and not forgetting to feed the cat as well while we are there [sigh]

Edward's doing really well, I swear he gets bigger by the day He's sleeping really well at night [sorry!] in his cot in our room and will probably be in with us for quite a while due to the fact he will have to share with ds1, it will probably take him the best part of a year to clear a space big enough for the cot in his room

silk, woried, lovely photos, such gorgeous los

hope everyone is doing well and enjoying the traditional british summer, waves to all

silkcushion · 12/08/2009 14:03

Naat those toys don't have a specific name that I can think of.

I've been painting my en suite bathroom today. It was a hideous colour (previous occupiers choice not mine). Got one coat on so far and it's transformed the room- looks loads brighter and cleaner. Eleri has been very helpful and slept for a couple of hours allowing me to crack on and get it done. Found some amazing bedding at Tesco's as well - cream and duck egg blue - very pretty - king size duvet cover and 2 pillowcases for £12!!!

I've only got 5 weeks until I go back to work - aaarrrggghhh. So feel very inspired to sort loads of domestic stuff out. It's dsd's room after this (not that she visits much now) - it's currently a hideous dark lilac and purple (again we didn't do that) and is going to be a restful and girlie violet white.

Pouring with rain here. Feeling quite envious of MrsM's sunnier climes.

Got Megan's parent's evening tonight at nursery - wonder what that will entail?

Hope you and yr littlies are doing well.

ermintrude13 · 12/08/2009 20:23

Lovely pics of girls silk. Can't believe you're decorating - I'm bad enough normally but with a baby I'm barely keeping up with laundry.

bigcar Yuk to big smelly dog (can you tell I prefer cats?). Sounds like your MIL just didn't think it through at all! Glad Edward is thriving - and sleeping through?

Doris - someone else who's being full of domestic energy and efficiency! I can't compete so won't try

I just got a lovely Emma Jane nursing bra with their new 'light' underwires - I wanted something to wear under wrap dress for sister's wedding next month and it's really comfortable as well as supportive. Also a nursing vest with bra shelf so you can put breast pads in it - v comfy but also looks nice.

Naat People have different names for their 'security blankets'. I've heard my-my, noo-noo, blankie and muzzie (as in muslin)as well as the names of various small teddies and other cuddlies. Has Mila got one already?

LittleSarah · 12/08/2009 21:14

Hello everybody!

I have had a lovely couple of days. As Molly has been at her dance school Alex and I have been hanging out at my mum's house which is really near. Because I am not at home I've been able lie around and watch DVDs (Bridges in Madison County had me in tears today)!

Plus, dh's brother and partner had a baby girl yesterday!! So excited for them, we will meet her tomorrow. Isabella! She was 6Ib 13oz which is a big surprise as her poor mummy was huge, and her mother's mother's babies were all 9Ib+!

I have a piano! I've been wanting one for years and my friend Ruth has given me her's on long-term loan. Finally I can learn again (I am so rusty) and I can get Molly started.

Tee and worriedamy - my wee Molly had great long hair when she was born, so cute! Alex is a baldy. I don't think you need to worry about haircuts for a couple of years at least though!

Bigcar - your MIL! Four times a day! No wonder you are feeling !

Silk - Good luck with your DIY, I absolutely hate it, I'm so impressed with your efforts!

ermintrude - You must be looking forward to the wedding! Are you taking the kids? (Thanks for your nappy cleaning advice!)

Doris - I know what you mean about A growing so quickly! My A also seems huge now, while Molly was tiny for ages, or so it seems. Alex is now 11.12!! Incredible!

Naat - I am feeling you on the lack of sleep! Alex is a bit up and down still. I am a sleepy lady!

Hello to everyone else!

llynnnn · 12/08/2009 21:24

hi all

just had a quick read through, i'm another one who just never seems to get chance to post! also can't have the pc on when dd1 is around as she just constantly wants to fiddle with it and look at all the photos!!
silk and worried - lovely photos! gorgeous babies!

naat - think the general name for them is comforters or comfort blankets etc? hope you have a better night tonight and no more bad dreams, poor Mila

silk - very impressed with your decorating! i dont know what i do with my days, i feel like im constantly doing general housework never have time for anything more exciting! isobel is sleeping in her moses basket in our room at the mo, but she is almost filling it now and her cot wont fit into our bedroom so will have to move her soon. we moved dd1 at about 3months too (for the same reason) and she was fine and we all slept better. i think that we disturb her sleeping (well dh's snoring does!) and she definitly disturbs me, i hear every little snuffle!

bigcar - dogsitting sounds like fun and just what you have the time for right now!! glad it will be over soon!

doris - glad you are able to enjoy the summer now your patio is done, i love being in the garden when its nice weather and so does dd1

choccie - hope Elina is still sleeping well, very !

mrsmc - sorry to hear about your ds's accident, poor thing (and you!) hope he is better now. hope you are having a better week with dh now too, he really should be pulling his weight more to support you hope Aaliyah is still sleeping well!

tee - hope Adam is still sleeping well for you!

I'm very envious of all those babies sleeping through, Isobel still wakes once a night for a feed then goes back to sleep, but she takes up to an hour to have a bottle, she is soooooo slow!! bless her! am considering getting the next size teats, but worried if she drinks it faster will she be sick? she really isnt a sicky baby but dont want her to start!

sorry for the mammoth post, really wanted to catch up with everyone but sorry and hello to anyone i've missed

x

llynnnn · 12/08/2009 21:28

littles - cross post, pleased you have had chance to rest, i love bridges of maddison county, always makes me cry! i have always wanted to learn to play piano, very jealous!

chocciedooby · 12/08/2009 22:18

Llynnn - what teats are you using?

I was advised to move Elina onto NO.2's at 2 weeks old and they have suited her well but now I think NO.3 will be needed soon.

Silk - gorgeous girls

Worried - gorgeous little boy

Littlesarah - I love that movie as well. So very sad.

Well not much news here. Elina is getting her 1st lot of jabs tomorrow .
She is still sleeping well but has not slept through for the last 3 nights. Just as I thought she had a settled routine, it changed again and she is waking at about 3.30am/4am again. I suppose they have their growth spurts etc and that affects feeds/waking.... I really enjoy feeding her when everyone else is sleeping but am feeling a bit more tired today. I know I have said this before but hats off to those of you that have babes that wake several times a night.

She is cooing a lot now and nearly giggled this afternoon. I am really enjoying every minute of her

MrsMcJnr · 12/08/2009 22:48

Sorry ladies, no time to catch up at all tonight, both my babies have been very out of sorts we've booked Aaliyah's Christening tonight for 18/10 now I need to work out how many weeks I have to transform myself ..... more very soon, stay well all x

ermintrude13 · 13/08/2009 09:58

Morning all

HV came this morning. At 6wks and 3 days Arthur weighs 12lb 1oz so is on 75th centile for weight and 98th for height - very like his older brother, methinks.

She also said that 'sleeping through the night' is counted as 5 hours in a row at night-time. Last night he did nearly 5.5 which was great but I put him back in his crib at 5.30 and couldn't get back to sleep again (unlike him, who snoozed till 9 ).

Gorgeous sunshine, at last!

worriedamy · 13/08/2009 12:30

wow ermin, what a credit to your bfeeding! I'm taking Caelan to get weighed again today... I have been taking him every week (silly me!), but didn't go last week because I was busy. I get rediculously nervous everytime incase they say he has not put on enough weight, and then I will feel like I'm failing him last time I took him, he was pretty much 4 weeks and weighed 8lb 14ozs, so he had only put on 8ozs since birth It makes me so nervous Seeing as he was a little lump when he was born, he is now following the 25th centile so hopefully he has put on enough weight these last two weeks....

ermintrude13 · 13/08/2009 12:45

Worried try not be be worried about The Charts, not every baby follows them precisely and some aren't even on them! As long as Caelan is energetic, filling nappies and putting on weight even gradually, he'll be fine. Nobody should tell you off anyway and if they do tell them to bog off! HV told me they're advising once a month weigh-ins now and I shouldn't think I'll many of them

Arthur (12 days late) took nearly 3 wks to regain his birth weight and is nowhere near the 98th centile his birth weight suggested, which is what happened with DS1 (10 days late) - they were a bit overcooked to begin with and found their natural, lower centile after a few weeks.

There's nothing wrong with being on 25th centile, the differences between them are tiny at this stage of life and it's just a range of averages so babies will be all over it.

LittleS yes, the DC are all coming to my sister's wedding - she's the youngest of 6 siblings all of whom have kids so she'd have got some black looks if she'd banned children . DD is a bridesmaid and DS is wearing a brown pinstripe suit and Converse boots 'to look like Dr Who'!

Have fun with the piano. I bought a rubbish old one for DH when my building society demutualised 10 yrs ago and he took it up again and is working through the grades - he loves it, finds it v therapeutic. DD plays too, and DS is about to start lessons. I'm the klutz who can't play

MrsMc I'm trying to lose 2lb a week and it's not difficult at all when b/feeding, as long as I avoid chocolate and alcohol. October is a good date to aim for because it's not unrealistically distant but there's time to be sensible too. Good luck!

worriedamy · 13/08/2009 13:15

Thanks ermin! See, thats the strange thing, Caelan put on 3 ozs on his first weigh in after birth, so I stupidly thought his weight would fly up, as he never actually lost any weight, or at least he didn't seem to. But then the next week he didn't put any weight on, and the next couple of weigh-ins he has only put a couple of ozs on. Anyway, I have been following everyones advice on here, and swapping him after 15-20 mins on one side, so we will see soon if that has been doing the job!!! Just going to fill him up before we go!!

June2009 · 13/08/2009 14:57

quick question, do you have to be careful where you take your babies before they get their first jabs? (like bumps & babies meetings etc)?

bigcar · 13/08/2009 15:10

afternoon all

worried, hope all goes well this afternoon, let us know. Don't worry to much about the charts, some hvs get way too obsessed with them, as ermin said happy, healthy baby and lots of wet nappies are the important things to look for None of my dcs have nice straight lines on their growth charts, they all wiggle about a bit

ermin, glad A is doing well! I certainly wouldn't count 5 hours as sleeping through surely that still means getting up at least once a night for a feed! Edward is doing about 10 hours most nights, that's sleeping through He's such a good boy Yep, I'm much more of a cat person, we'd have a couple of cats if we didn't have so many children Might have to be the mad cat lady when I'm really old!

MrsMcJnr, hope your los are feeling better today, there seem to be an awful lot of bugs going round here at the moment!

choccie, hope the jabs went ok today. I'm also loving all the "talking" we have now, I think Edwards going to be as noisy as his older brother and sisters

llynnn, my dd3 loves pressing all the buttons on the keyboard too, especially the ones that make the computer do strange things

littles, congrats to your dhs bro! Hope you manage to catch up on some sleep

mil and fil are back now, so no more running around after the dog! At least they bought the dcs Mcdonalds for their tea last night, it made their day

hope you're all out enjoying the sun, it's lovely here today, waves to all

bigcar · 13/08/2009 15:19

xposts june! I don't think you do have to be too careful, Edwards been to all sorts of things because of the older dcs. I usually try to avoid people that obviously have coughs or sniffles or kids with spots I think most people have the decency to stay away from that sort of group if they or their dcs are unwell

bigcar · 13/08/2009 15:21

meant to add, just depends on what you are comfortable with it can't be too far off before C has her jabs?
