Hey Ladies.

I have been Lurking but not posting as RL catches up .

Daisy and Insy so to hear about your hospital experiences and relieved you've come out of the other side. Insy maybe now isn't the best time to think about how you're feeding give yourself a couple of days grace.... is there anyone who could have bear for an afternoon, just to give you some me time. Dh is looking after LO whilst I do local errands atm (although she starts wailing as soo as I walk out of the door, even straight after a feed! )

Re weight- I don't know what my pre pregnancy weight was so I don't know if i'm back yet, getting closer judging by the clothes but still a little ay to go. However as there will be NO MORE Lo's I no longer have the mental 'oh i'll be getting fat again soon so it's just pointless dieting arguement' to delude myself with, and i saw photos this evening that make me want to start now, although I get so hungry with the bf far more then when I was pg.

Naat well done with the baking

tee hope the meds make you feel like you're old self.

Right that's all I can manage for the mo, I have been on the computer for ages typing up stuff for a bundle of Mat clothes for ebay and just as I was about to post I lost it all so not letting this get too long before I post

Night all

LittleSarah · 26/07/2009 22:44

Phew insy, poor you! And Bear! Thank goodness he is okay, do they know what was wrong? No wonder you are exhausted.

Thanks MrsMcJnr , the books are great and once you get the hang of the software it is simple and good fun. Glad to hear Aaliyah's bowels are moving more, Alex is still only pooing every few days but seems happy enough! Quite funny today, he was lying on the changing mat kicking, no nappy and I was lying on the sofa and gave his tummy a wee pat with my foot. Immediately there was the most attractive wet farting sound and yes you guessed it, poo! MMMmmm.

Silk - Hope you are feeling better now, being ill with dcs can be a killer, no rest for the mamas!

Naat - Well done on the cake baking missy. I love baking and indeed will be making a cake with dd tomorrow.

Daisy - I love how much your dh loves his book! That is so sweet. I think for my mum I'm going to do one of all her friends and family, get pics of her with them and get them to tell me a little story about her, or tell me what they love most about her etc, and then put those in too. It's just the kind of thing she'll adore, I know as soon as she sees dh's she will say "I want one!" (Just need to steal her filofax )

Well I am very pleased as it seems that we've managed to get Alex into a bedtime routine with minimal fuss. One night where we put him down at 7pm and he was up and down for the next few hours but now pretty much down at 7pm for the whole evening. Bliss.

So, the beginning of another week tomorrow. I am hoping to be a little more active now Alexander is sleeping better at night, not too active I'm sure but more so! In saying that I have no daytime plans yet! Oops, must try harder.

Hope all is well for y'all!

LittleSarah · 26/07/2009 22:46

Oooh Doris and others re weight. I am close to pre-pregnancy but will this spare tyre ever go?? Argh. It's clearly this stretched out tummy and I don't know if it will ever recover.

MrsMcJnr · 26/07/2009 23:10

Just back from the last night of the fair, both kids loved the lights and music again DS has gone out like a light, let?s hope DD has a good night too. Must wake her in a min so that I get to bed at a decent hour but it is so nice to have some time on here

Insy ? lovely to hear from you so sorry to hear about the scary time you had with Bear, it must have been awful. Hope he is much better now. What is the age gap between your DCs again? I keep seeing families of 3 or more and feel sure that?s what I want. I so hope DH lets me have more at the moment he is saying no to a 3rd next year don?t feel selfish about the feeding, I found the constant physical demand hard last time and its even harder this time with the heat and the need to look after another child. I?m not one of those Mums who gets a lot of joy out of breast feeding I have to admit.

Skimmed through a book called ?Time Management for manic mums? at the book shop, didn?t have time to pick up any hints, maybe we should start swooping out own tips for getting everything done?!

Naat ? sounds like Mila is a little star

Littlesarah ? I would love to go to the cinema but am worried that DD still needs to be fed too often to manage it. How did you manage it? DD is heading for 3-6 months clothes now, I put an outfit on today thinking it would be massive but it fitted her quite well well done on the routine, that?s fab

June ? hope the appointment went well and that the scar is healing. Try not to work too hard, you?ll wear yourself out.

Llynnn ? Aaliyah has big feet and does the eye rolling thing too, it?s spooky!

Hey Bigcar

Bunnymother ? no mojo to speak of here either DH and I find Aaliyah?s bodily functions funny too, such loud noises from a little person. Glad to hear about the success of the tongue tie snip and hope BF is getting back on track. Lovely to have a snuggly baby isn?t it? Both mine have been big snugglers wow, Claudine looks amazing doesn?t she?

Hey Doris ? good luck selling the mat clothes

Tee2072 · 27/07/2009 06:59

Morning all.

of all of you who are at or close to pre-preg weight. Its gonna take me awhile. Although GP did say I could start doing Yoga again as soon as I feel I am ready. I am hoping next week.

Had a decent night last night. Adam slept from 10:30 to 0230 and then 0300 to 0500. He only ate about 2 Oz at 0230, as opposed to the 5 he eats during the day. I am wondering if he's getting ready to drop it. I can only hope!!

I hope everyone is doing well!!

OP posts:
Naat · 27/07/2009 09:42

Hi all!

Tee, that was a good night! Glad for you. Fingers crossed Adam wants to drop the 2.30 bottle

Mrsmc, hope you had a good rest last night. It sounds like DS was vvvvv tired after the Feria Glad you got a couple of meals done! I can see Aaliyah also feeds really often, Mila is the same! I feel like a milking cow The sofa is my best friend it makes me want one of those fab rocking chairs, but oh they are expensive!

LittleS, it was my first cake in years and to be honest it was thanks to my mum... when she was here she baked us cakes every day! she created an addiction in DH now Yay on getting Alex into a routine! I don't actually know what to do wrt Mila's routine. DH plays football on Weds and comes back at about 9.30pm and then other evenings he has the regular tennis match as well so up to now Mila's sleeping routine has started at 10pm (bath + feeding + bed) Am I creating a monster who won't go to bed earlier in the future?

Doris, it's awful when posts get lost! Hope you get them on soon I'm glad you mentioned being hungrier now than when PG.. I've been eating for 3 and didn't quite know what was going on It's the BF!!!

Insy, so glad to hear from you again. So sorry to hear about Bear's trip to the hospital I can only imagine your worry, no wonder you're exhausted. The biggest (((hug))) going your way. Glad to hear he's better now

Daisy, you and LIttleS make those books sound fab! I might steal the idea Sorry to hear about DD's croup, poor little lamb, but glad she's better now Oh, so glad you had a great time at the concert!!! You absolutely deserved the fun!!!

Silk, to hear you girls are feeling better I'm a little of a TV addict (whispers) I looove TV series! ER, brothers and sisters, the pracice, like Mrsmc said, I can't deny it Even the silliest ones like Gossip girl have caught my attention Oh, that's the teen in me Shame!!! The constant feeding doesn't help either (looking for an excuse, right!)

Oh this was long! Mila is waking now so must run.

Quiet day today, I guess, nothing planned. Tomorrow I must go to uni to meet my visa officer and send all the docs. Not looking forward to the journey with Mila on my own (the forms have changed and they are 60 pages each!!! the weight!!) esp. as I heard tomorrow we'll have rain and I haaaaate travelling long distances with rain

Hope you have a nice day!! (((waves to all)))

ermintrude13 · 27/07/2009 11:09

Insy what a worry about poor little Bear - so glad he's OK but you really need to catch up on a bit of rest. I think Doris's suggestion about a little timeout before deciding about feeding is a good idea - whatever you decide should be with a clear head. (not that any of us have got one of those for long at the moment). Hope you can get some R and R soon.

MrsMc at the idea of having to buy shorts. Looking at the state of my legs, maybe the rubbish weather we're having in the UK this summer is a mercy .

LittleS that's fab about Alex's sleeping. I think we'll wait another month before I put Arthur down at 7 or 8 because he's still feeding a lot between 9 and 11 pm and then manages to just have one wake between 11 and 7.30ish which I can cope with fine for now.

silk don't worry about catching up - sometimes it's just not possible.

Naat well done for baking. I was eating some gorgeous cakes at a little get-together yesterday so all ideas about healthy eating came to nought.

Arthur has now been asleep for almost 90 mins with Radio 4 droning gently in his ear - it seems to calm him down during his morning nap. Usually he's a bit wakeful and sometimes needs more feeds and backpatting to sleep, but as soon as I turned the radio on he dropped off and is now sleeping like - well, like a baby .

MrsMcJnr · 27/07/2009 11:20

I don't believe it normally DS's play date arrives at 12 on a Mon and I have to wake him up from his sleep, they are running late today and so I rubbed my hands with glee at the thought of some proper nattering on here and low and behold I can hear both DCs squawking! it's going to be a long day

MrsMcJnr · 27/07/2009 11:27

Aaliyah didn?t want milk at 12 last night so I took her to bed then and she woke at 3 (back down at 4) and then at 7, not too bad but I am feeling quite tired today. I?ve got her in the rain forest seat and she is actually smiling, result!

Better go, hope to get back later

LittleSarah · 27/07/2009 14:41

Not a great night with Alex last night, not bad, but not as good as it has been. Up at 2.30 and then about 5am ish, and then really grisly and not realy sleeping. Felt like a train wreck by 7am...

Then this morning! He has barely been asleep at all and needing lots of attention so the place is a bit of a tip and I am going mad, argh. I am bouncing him in his chair now and looks like he is finally going off (taking his time over it though), he probably slept for about 20 mins altogether this morning.... oh god, his eyes are wide open again, what is going on!? Ach well, no doubt it will be all change tomorrow.

Naat - Your evening routine sounds fine, it is such early days, there is no rush. For my own sanity I definitely like a bedtime (and probably much easier to institute one in the first 4-6 months) but Mila is just teeny still, like ermin and Arthur I would give it a few more weeks (or more)!

MrsMcJnr - Sorry you didn't get more MN time! As I said above with Alex awake he is in and out (most in) my arms and I just wander about bouncing most of the time, I love him dearly but it does get a wee bit dull. Alexander is taking EBM from the bottle so I was able to get to cinema and leave my mum with him. Also very much looking forward to when I can go to baby cinema at the Cameo/Filmhouse. Can't do now with dd around as obviously the films are for adults but when she goes to school...

Tee - Hope the yoga goes well, I am going to go back to my ballet. I've been doing it (not very well) on and off since school and I really want to get back into it. Term doesn't start til September though so will be a while! Going to do a bit of running before that. And will probably need to do a million sit ups to shift my tummy!

Right Alexander's eyes are finally closed and I really must make the most of it, which sadly doens't mean sitting down with a good book and a cuppa.

llynnnn · 27/07/2009 20:41

Hi all, just a quickie one handed post!

Isy - sorry to hear poor Bear has been in hospital, must've been awful for you all. please dont feel guilty about wanting to stop bf. i am mixed feeding this time as i found it was getting really hard to give dd the attention she needed while feeding every hour! i now bf in the evenings and 1st thing in the morning. i find it a nice balance and has given me freedom during the day. dont feel guilty about whatever you decide, you've given him the best start

naat - i have to make a birthday cake for dd1's 3rd birthday on friday! i'm rubbish at baking though!!

littlesarah - hope u have a better night tonight. whoever says that little babies sleep all the time were wrong! i'd love to do ballet again, i did it throughout childhood and enjoyed it

mrsmc - hope both dc settled and let you get some rest this afternoon. i dont know how you cope running around after them in the heat!!

I took Isobel to the docs this morning as she seemed to be struggling to breathe properly with this darn cold! he checked her over tho and said her chest is fine, but every breathe sounds really snuffly

hi to everyone else, will try to do a proper catch up tomorrow when i have 2 hands free!

lauraloo09 · 27/07/2009 21:14

hiya everyone...been trying to keep up but Sarah not been good today, constant crying between 6am and 12 today. She still seems to have trouble doing the toilet esp a poo. She was screaming quite badly today but as soon as she gave me a dirty nappy she was much better...who would have thought I would be cheering that the thought of changing a really pooey nappy

insy very sorry to hear aboud Bear in hospital, very relieved that he is better and like the others said try not to feel guilty about giving up bf'ing I know I felt guilty after only a day or 2 of bf'ing but i made the decision that was best for me at the time.

llynnn best of luck with baking the cake lol I love baking and I am very good at it if i must say so myself

like i said just a quick response a big HELLO to the rest of my fellow juners

silkcushion · 27/07/2009 22:16

We've sort of got both dds in a routine of going to bed around 7pm. Dd1 has done this since about 6 weeks old and luckily dd2 seems to have fallen into the pattern quite well. Once Megan is in bed then I feed Eleri and put her in her cot in our room. I have to admit I like the opportunity to have a child free evening. We always get at least a few hours even if Megan then goes on to have a terrible night.

Eleri is (thankfully) a naturally good sleeper so far (lord knows I deserve at least one child who will sleep well). She wakes between 3.30 and 4 for a feed. then is up properly anytime between 6 and 8. I'm mixed feeding too. Eleri still takes an age to feed (think she likes the snuggling) so I give her bottles at 10pm and the middle of the night. During the day it depends on what I have to do but generally I'm spending lots of time snuggling and feeding her when Meg is at nursery.

Pregnancy weight - still got a stone to go before back to where I started. And about 4 stone until I'm at the weight I should be I've enrolled on an induction at the gym in our local comprehensive school - it's pay as you go so shouldn't waste loads of money. Dh is off next week and I've vowed to go swimming twice as well.

hope all our little babies are doing well

ps Erm - Arthur sounds like my dad - snoozing with radio 4 on in the background. He doesn't have a copy of the Daily Telegraph draped over him as well does he?

insywinsyspider · 27/07/2009 22:23

MrsMcJ ? I have 18 months between my lo?s, ds1 is 3yrs 1 month, ds2 19months and Bear is 6 wks, I?m finding it hard to juggle 2 sets of nappies and all their demands but I think it will pay off in the long term

I think I feel selfish about stopping feeding, or even mixed feeding, because its not what I did for the boys and I know its not just about Bear its about whats right for all of us but I still would like to be able to do it for longer it just feels like so much harder work this time.
I have solved bedtime this weekend by expressing a bottle at breakfast, seems I can express more then which means dh or I can put Bear to bed at 7pm and he sleeps till midnight, also means I went to Pilates tonight without him very liberating

Quick question to anyone bottle feeding, how much should Bear be having at 6 wks? My Mum and Dad have offered to babysit the boys on Sat as we can now say Bear will sleep for first part of night but I need to make sure I leave them with enough milk for his bedtime feed and some spare

doris I think you are right probably just a bit more space would help but its hard to leave dh with all 3 as I know he finds that difficult, what would help I think is if he would just watch him for me so I could do more with the boys like at the park for example, will have to sort it out!

Lovely to be back on here and see how you?re all doing ? I don?t know anyone with lo?s the same age as Bear so its reassuring to see we?re going through the same things (bar hospital visits thank god!)

lauraloo09 · 28/07/2009 09:09

insy Sarah is 5 weeks olf and she is taking between 4 and 5oz per bottle. She takes about 5 or 6 bottles a day, but sometimes she takes a 'top-up' feed...hope this helps

Naat · 28/07/2009 09:38

Morning Juners!

Insy, I guess it's hard not to feel guilty for us, but try not to be to hard on yourself. You've had some pretty difficult days and you have two LOs besides Bear so it's definitely a challenge at every level. ((hug))

Silk, Eleri is a good sleeper. Mila is quite good except for the odd night when she doesn't know what she wants

Laura, LOL at cheering a poo but it's true! Whatever makes our LOs stop crying (esp. if it's due to pain) puts a big smile on our faces

Llynn, have you thought what kind of cake you'll bake? I'm no expert, just asking out of curiosity Will the party be at home in the end? I saw on your FB last week you were asking for ideas

LittleS, thanks for the advice Your day yesterday sounded exactly like mine! Mila was feeding constantly and requiring attention non-stop... HOpe you had a good night

Mrsmc, yay on the rainforest seat working on Aaliyah!!! What a nice rest for your arms (fingerst to MN )

Ermin, hi! LOL at Arthur sleeping with Radio 4 in the background A true grandpa

Right, off to fend the rainy weather today. It's amazing how it gets me down but I'm armed with my raincoat so hopefully it won't be that bad... will tell you about it later

Hope you have a nice day Juners!! (((waves to all)))

MrsMcJnr · 28/07/2009 11:01

Hey ladies as you can see I didn?t get back on yesterday I did get down to the pool and managed to swim 3 widths though. It won?t exactly get me fit but it made me feel better. DH was down there too looking after DS. It made me realise that there is no way I can go down there alone, DS has no fear and just jumps in the pool whether you are there to catch him or not and I was constantly worried that someone would steal DD if I looked away!

Both babies are pretty fractious today its really muggy and overcast though and the humidity is 69%. Like you Sarah, I spend a lot of time bouncing Aaliyah in my arms, I know one day I?ll look back and consider them precious moments and wish I?d made the most of them but when there is dinner to cook, a house to clean and washing to deal with it can get a bit much can?t it?

Aaliyah was snacking all evening last night and then at 12, 4 & 7 so not much sleep was had by me last night. I am also a bit down as I have put on 2 pounds in the last 10 days I have been eating a load of rubbish, must start taking better care of myself.

My sister and her husband and 2 boys (5&3) were meant to arrive yesterday to stay at my Mum?s for 2 weeks but my youngest nephew was running a very high temp so my sis stayed behind with him in the UK to see the Dr. Apparently it?s not Swine Flu so they are meant to be flying over today. Can?t wait to see them all .

DS?s play date will be here any minute (it got cancelled yesterday) and he hasn?t slept at all this morning hopefully that means a long sleep this afternoon and I can get some housework done

Hope everyone is well, I?ll have a quick read now

ermintrude13 · 28/07/2009 11:35

Hi All

Arthur had a 2.5 hours sleep yesterday morning and was then awake except for 10 mins bouts of snoozing before waking up crying AGAIN all day until nearly midnight. . He then slept til 4.30 but only in bed next to me, latched on desperately. Took him ages to get back to sleep after that and then it was time to get up to get the DC ready for their football camp, so I'm carrying suitcases under my eyes. It's reminding me of DD at this age, and we didn't get her into her cot until she was 8 months old and I was at the end of my tether. Think I'm going to have to draw the line and only put him in his crib at night before Bad Habits form.

Lynnn it's awful when they're snuffly but good news that Isobel's chest is clear; she'll get over the snuffles soon.

silk lol @ the Daily Telegraph . I suppose since Arthur has an old man's name he may as well play to type. It's like my dad too (and me actually ).

MrsMc hope your sister and her family manage to come over today and that you have a lovely time showing off Aaliyah . I'm sure they'll make a fuss of DS too, or more likely hold baby so you can.

Naat I've been out to the shops in lovely sunshine but it's starting to look ominous now - are you sending clouds down from up north?

Friend coming for lunch today. The most complex thing I can manage is omelette. But I do have wine chilling...

Tee2072 · 28/07/2009 13:04

On my way out to Adam's head injury follow up, but wanted to say real quick that I just met with my financial advisor and he highly recommends Children's Mutual for Child Trust Fund!!

I'll try to catch up later!!

OP posts:
Naat · 28/07/2009 13:24

Good luck at the appt Tee

Ermin, have a nice lunch with your friend

My visa advisor rescheduled for tomorrow I was just about to catch the bus when I got the message! Aaanyway, not raining yet which makes me think the met office got it wrong today Or maybe not?

back later (((waves)))

Naat · 28/07/2009 13:25

oh, forgot! Mrsmc, hope your sis arrives today! Hope you have a good time with them all

bigcar · 28/07/2009 13:58

afternoon all

tee, hope Adams appointment goes well

ermin, hope you're having an easier day today! I hadn't given wine a thought for ages, now a nice chilled glass sounds just the thing

MrsMcJnr, enjoy having your family over, bet your ds will love playing with his cousins

naat, hope the rain held off for you, it's not been too bad here, the sun even shows itself occassionally Suppose that's your typical british summer!

insy, sorry to hear about Bears hospital stay, what a worrying time for you all.

llynnn, hope the snuffles are getting better. I love cooking, when I get the time to cook a real proper meal, but baking really is totally beyond me, my kids are of the belief that shop bought cake is so much better than home made, certainly when it comes to mine anyway Doesn't help that my mil is really good at baking, it's a good job we get on really well because dh is always saying but mil can do that, to which my response is always, well go and live there then

Edward had his 8 week check this morning, followed by his first lot of jabs. All seems to have gone well, I felt so guilty when the nurse stuck the needle in his leg and he screamed. Thankfully he only cried for a minute, he's been asleep most of the time since so he can't be too traumatised Dd3 was awful with her first lot, screamed for 3 hours before finally falling asleep, we were on the verge of going back to the doctors. I made sure she had calpol before we left home for the rest of them and she was fine. I have a bottle of calpol on standby just in case it's needed.

I think Edward's going to be a thumb sucker, he looks so cute but just can't help thinking it may be a problem later on! I've had to take the newborn support out of his car seat because he's too big for it he's giving everyone arm ache now when they hold him for any length of time He's also getting a lot freer with his smiles now, daddy gets them too now STILL haven't managed to catch one with the camera

hope everyone gets a little sun today, waves to all

June2009 · 28/07/2009 14:06

Insy, Calypso will be 6 weeks old on thursday and she has 120 or 150ml 6 times a day. I think she eats a lot compared to other babies (formula boxes recommend 120ml 5 times a day for around 3.5 kg I think).

Tee2072 · 28/07/2009 16:26

Back from Adam's appointment. He is...wait for it...12.12 lbs...and 22.2 inches!!! 95th centile all the way around, doctor says he's just a big boy like his daddy!

It turns out he also cracked a rib after all when he fell. It doesn't bother him and there is nothing they can do but let it heal.

He'll be 7 weeks day after tomorrow! Time is flying by!

OP posts:
June2009 · 28/07/2009 16:55

insy, (120 is 3 ounces, 150 is 4 ounces btw) There's also a very useful way to calculate how much to feed your baby here.

The rest is very mememe, feel free to ignore!

We had a brilliant weekend with my relatives from France, I wish they lived closer.
In the morning while we were sleeping all 4 of them had a shower, breakfast and were chatting outside and in the kitchen and we still did not hear a thing!
When I came down they had also cleaned the kitchen and unloaded the dishwasher!! It really makes a difference from ils.

The gp said my wound looks ok now.
Yesterday morning I did actually wake up feeling almost normal for the first time in months! I have started bleeding again though (doing too much or first period?)

I talked to GP about contraception and he said I can start the mini pill after 6 weeks or have injections.
Has anyone used the injections before?
The mini pill take 30 days to start working, doesn't it? Not liking the idea of condoms.

I'll try and catch up with everybody's news asap!

take care
