vbab78 · 24/06/2009 23:01

Forgot to say ... DH didnt get that job even though it all went amazing. Basically the lady told DH 30 people went for the job and he lost out to someone currently doing the job somewhere else (DH fully trained but not done training in couple of years). Got amazing feedback. They said the loved his presentation and ALL answers to questions.

PinkyMinxy · 24/06/2009 23:10

Oh that is rough luck, Vbab.

barbareebaa · 24/06/2009 23:54

Rightho best get off to bed. Hope everyones having a peaceful night xx

LackaDAISYcal · 25/06/2009 07:47

shame about the job vbab, especially when he did so well in the interview. You never know, if something else comes up they might get back to him or if it doesn't work out with whoever they offered it to....

lol at the thought of dirty den. Think more dirty than den!!

20 July good for me
I'll get in touch with rutho and see if she can join us, but I think she might be back at work by then.

Big day of nappy listing for me today. I have 33 separate "lots"....yikes.

Would any cloth users like some bits and pieces? I have about 18 fleece liners, if anyone would like a couple, and a small Stuffins hemp insert.....free to a good home.

LackaDAISYcal · 25/06/2009 07:56

barbs, I bought the Gill Rpaley book as well. I must have a look in there for inspiration as we are in a bit of a rut foodwise. also, have a look at Aitch's blog and forum

chocolategal · 25/06/2009 08:30

Morning
sorry your DH didn't get the job vbab
hi barbs glad weaning is going well, W looks so grown up in your fb pics. Very handsome.
Goodluck with the selling daisy, I've got a pile of things I need to put on eBay.

Off to the HV this morning for a weigh in, haven't been since we properly started weaning so will be interesting to see how much weight he's put on.

PinkyMinxy · 25/06/2009 09:00

Good luck at the HV, choc.

Mimi-s 8 month check today- I know I know I cannot believ our babies are there already!

Daiy good luck with the selling, I really need to get into gear on that front.

Oh yes and I'd like some fleece liners if noone else wants them . Let me know the P&P.

chocolategal · 25/06/2009 09:03

Hi pinky how is Mimi today?
Do you get an official 8 month check? Our next check is 1 year.

PinkyMinxy · 25/06/2009 09:13

Hi Choc yes we get an 8-month check here.

She's ok. I don't think the AB's are agreeing with her tummy, but her breathing is much better. If I wasn't going in anyway I would prolly be ringing the GP today to see what she thinks.

I feel like a rubbish mummy. DS's got his class photo yesterday and he looks a little forlorn on it. Virtually all the other children are smiling. I worry so much that I am letting my children down.

chocolategal · 25/06/2009 09:21

Aww pinky, there was bound to be someone not smiling at any one time. I bet if it was taken 10 secs later he would have been.
FWIW you don't sound like you are failing anybody, you are always doing lovely things with your DC.

PinkyMinxy · 25/06/2009 09:26

Thanks Choc.I know I'm prolly being silly. Just feeling a bit low at the min.

Ceebee74 · 25/06/2009 09:41

Pinky sorry you are feeling so low at the moment Of course you are not letting your children down - as choc says you do so much fun stuff with them - I wish I had half your patience and creativity!! The photo will be just one of those things - Ds1 never smiles on photos cos of the shutter speed so by the time the photo has been taken, he has stopped smiling. He looks like a right miserable little boy on our collection of photos when in fact he is so happy all of the time

Good luck with the 8-month check - I can't believe that time has come round again (Choc we have them at 8 months here aswell)

Vbab crap about your DH and the job but put it down to experience for next time. I did a lot of recruitment at work and I always tell candidates that the one thing they can't control when applying for a job is the competition - you can do the best you possibly can but there may always be someone with more experience - tis just one of those things!

Yorky hope your night was better - and good luck to your friend

LackaDAISYcal · 25/06/2009 09:54

I agree with chocgal pinky; you are definately alpha mummy stuff! My DC think playdo is something that you get at school/playgroup and have no notion that it can also be played with at home

DS1's year 2 class photo was horrible; he looked half asleep in it! They don't do class photos at our school until they are in their final year and they get a leaving photo.

Well this isn't ebaying/used nappying is it?

LackaDAISYcal · 25/06/2009 09:55

no 8month check here; they do them at 12 months....and I am still waiting for an appointment for DD's 2 year check. Unless they have stopped doing them.

chocolategal · 25/06/2009 10:21

Daisy- I think they have stopped the 2 year check unless there are problems.

It is very strange how much services differ from city to city. I know I can always pop to the HV if I'm concerned with anything but what about all those babies with parents that don't see problems then they are left without seeing anybody. Now those babies are failed. Definately not any of our lot pinky.

Since becoming a mum I find the neglect of children just heartbreaking. I mean I always thought it was terrible just didn't connect with it the way I do now iyswim.

twinklingfairy · 25/06/2009 10:32

Did someone list a pile of wraps on here a while back?
You probably have some daisy but as they are listed now, I don't want to bother you.

DH is being an ass a bit mardy recently.
Honestly, can men get PMT!?

J up a bit more last night but still less than it used to be.
This Pantley Pull Off thing does seem to have helped a bit but I still reckon when he does eventually go into DDs room, he will just be given back the dummy, for the peace.
We will see.
Perhaps I will manage to wean him off by then.
Trouble is I feed him lying down and he is popping himself off now, which is fab, but how on earth will I manage it when he is in his own cot? Going from arms to bed is just a no no.
Oh, it is just question after worry after query.

LadyBuzz · 25/06/2009 11:12

Morning Everyone.

DS had a fabulous birthday yesterday and was spoilt rotten as usual, and he still has his party to come on Sunday. At the local soft play so minimum mess for me!

The funeral was as good as these things are, my friend was a tower of strength I was so so proud of her.
We had a good laugh at the wake on behalf of little mattie so I feel it couldn't have been nicer under the circumstances.
I have to say though I never ever want to see anything like that ever again.

Pinky love to you, sorry you are feeling down. You are a fab mummy (like daisy DS1 only plays playdoh at nursery .

Hope all these poorly mummies/babies are better soon.

Twink i'm sure men can yes
Hope you find a solution that works for you.

I'm off to the docs with both of mine today, DS1 has got awful awful hayfever and what he is taking does not seem to be helping! Although his exzema seems to be a little better today.
DS2 appears to have his boy bits attached to tightly and they seem to be pulling everything back, it is starting to look a little uncomfortable. Has anyone heard of anything like this?
I feel awful, I thought he was just 'unlucky' in that dept but my SIL asked me about it yesterday and said it might need snipped . Poor little love.

Golly, J is 17llb 4oz already.
I can't believe that he is growing so fast!

juanitad · 25/06/2009 12:36

ceebee, just checking - would you come if we did Hgate meet up on the 20th, or would you not be able to?

Well, I had only my 4th night out in 7 months last night woo hoo. I stayed out till...wait for it, 10.20!! I'm such a party animal. I'm sure P must have known something was going on, as he decided to wake up at 8.50 and scream the house down for over an hour! In such circumstances, I tend to get a boob out but poor DH does not have the equipment. I'd left him some expressed milk which P wolfed down, then continued the wailing! Oh dear. In the end DH had to resort to using the hairdryer to get P back to sleep. He was a little frazzled to say the least when I got home!! These men are soft aren't they?!!

On the plus side though, P has started having some much longer naps in the day - 2 and a half hours yesterday, 2hrs 15 the day before. I'm hoping this might continue. I'm not putting down for a sleep until he's been awake for at least 3 hours now, so I think that could mean he's much more tired, hence the longer nap. He's just dropped off now, so I'm hoping not to see him until after 2! Fingers crossed.

Ladybuzz, glad the funeral went as well as it could, I can't imagine how difficult it must have been for everybody involved.

Pinky, I was a really happy child and have good memories of my childhood but you wouldn't know it to look at my school photos! I seem to look a little bit scared in all of them! I used to get a bit embarassed when I had to pose for a camera so my attempt at a smile would come out more like a cross between confusion and a grimace! I'm sure your DS is a very happy little boy and that you are a fab mum, pictures can often mask reality.

OP posts:
LackaDAISYcal · 25/06/2009 13:42

twinkling I've only got one big sized (20lbs plus) wrap left; the rest are either newborn ones or up to 20lbs.

LackaDAISYcal · 25/06/2009 13:45

oh, and not listed yet......usednappies is sooooo slow and keeps booting me out, but you can't save as a draft till you have finished all the steps....grrrrrrr

how did you find the kooshies tegan? I had a few that I was given and used them as a quick morning change for DD until she had done a poo, but found them pretty bad at poo containment, especially when she was still exclusively BF.

chocolategal · 25/06/2009 14:09

Back again! DS napping
twinkling glad the nights seem to be improving a little at least.
tegan are you feeling better now?
Juanitad* glad you got a night out although sounds like your DH was glad to have you home again.
ladybuzz that was nice DS1 had a lovely birthday and that your friend was strong. What a difficult day for you all.

Well I'm as baffled/confused/worried as ever after the hv appt. DS is plodding along the 25th centile nicely but she asked how weaning was going. I said we have good days and not so good days. She said I shouldn't get into the habit of giving him fruit/yoghurt etc if he doesn't take a savoury!? He always takes fruit and yoghurt so I am happy to give him that as it's still eating, surely he's too little to understand he should have savoury 1st?
Also I told her that some days I struggle to get more than 16oz milk in but he's never been a particuarly hungry baby and I thought this was just normal for him. She said I should think about whether he needs viramin supplements!? I said I didn't know and asked her what she thought bur she said to just see how it goes. Eh? How is that helpful?

LackaDAISYcal · 25/06/2009 14:37

choc, if he is maintaining his line on the centile charts and is happy eating what he eats, then I'd be inclined to not worry. As long as you are offering him savoury stuff and he isn't subsisting on a diet of fruit shoots and yogurt and losing weight......

I'm fairly sure it's standard party line north of the border to get them eating savoury rather than sweet due to the overall (not you personally) appalling dental and medical health up there. They still give out toothbrushes and toothpaste at my nephews' school and they are in P3 and P5!!

Also, ime, I find it difficult to get over the information to HVs in a satisfactory way and either miss something out or don't really tell it like it actually is. I think it's in the way they word their questions or something and regardless of whether you were doing great or not, I often think they say something because it's their job to have an opinion rather than because it is actually needed.......if that makes any sense at all!! And I have pretty good HVs here by the way, but they still do it!!
