Oh yeah forgot to say Happy Birthday CriCri!!!

LolaBella · 22/06/2009 22:15

Twinkling would like to tell you something that helped O go longer at night but unfortunately i can't. I can sympathise though. Sleep deprivation is the worst O is not by any means sleeping through regularly. I'm still usually up at least once sometimes twice but it is much more bearable compared to the hell a few weeks back

Coolkat O growls too. My son thinks he's a lion. It's so loud that he's actually starting to frighten the other children now

Happy belated birthday cricri

Wedding is end of July in Harrogate. Getting very excited

LackaDAISYcal · 22/06/2009 22:28

there is a growing tide of support for kids being rear facing well beyond their first year. Not sure you can get the seats here though, but ChocO linked to a thread about them the other week.

bugger...typed a long post and managed to delete it somehow (typing in the dark!!)

We moved DD out before one year, and although she wasn't quite 9kg yet, we couldn't get the strps done up on the car seat, especially if she was wearing a coat. However I've since read that you shouldn't have coats on them in the car seats (especially puffy winter coats) as the coat can compress in the event of an accident leaving excess strapping that may not be secure! bumble will be in his maxicosi as long as possible, but it stays in the car these days as there is no way I could carry it with him in it. Bear in mind aswell that the rear facing seats are for weights up to 13kg; it's not a case that they need to be moved as soon as they hit 9kg.

righ, cuppa and then an early-ish night for me.....if I can get the cat to come in that is.

barbareebaa · 22/06/2009 22:51

Good evening all!
Good luck with the wdding plans LB where are you getting married? am nosy How exciting for you!!
Anyone still on for Harrogate meetup? I think I may have to meet everyone after Betty's if that's ok - if anyone fancies a stroll in the park that is. We are a bit skint but have found a little terrace house and are moving in around 4th July. It belongs to some friends who are moving into a bigger house as they are having another baby. We need a sofa though but - might try freecycle. It's weird - all my friends are so sorted and heres me and dh moving again with barely anything to our names (apart from our little cherub that is!!)
Hum. So pleased for the lo's and mums of lo's who are sleeping better!
Had a stupid day today - felt really out of control, couldn't get anything done but think that's to do with living out of bags and boxes.
Happy birthday CRiCri
So sorry to hear about your mums cousin Ellielou.

LolaBella · 23/06/2009 09:20

Getting married at Rudding Park Barbs. The place is so beautiful, just hoping for good weather.

When is the Harrogate meet up?? I might be able to come and meet some of you lovely ladies

LackaDAISYcal · 23/06/2009 09:31

I was very nearly bitten by a dog this morning . the shitty little poodle whose owner doesn't clear up after it. Thankfully I was wearing jeans but I felt the nip. It jumped up and caught me mid thigh....just at the right height for DD's face (she was walking next to me). the owner tried to tell me it was just being friendly! and wouldn't believe me that it had nipped me. He then just walked away. I am so it's not true.

If I was prone to paranoia I'd think he had trained it to attack me after our clash over not cleaning up after it

LadyBuzz · 23/06/2009 09:37

Vbab I had my trot cards read on Saturday - I thought it was fab. They were pretty much spot on for me. I didn't get any 'answers' as such but they were very relevant and the reader was fantastic! I would def recommend.

Lola congratulations on your up coming wedding - hope you have a fantastic day!

Barbs glad you have a house sorted, you will prob feel alot better once you are unpacked and settled.

Getting organised for DS's birthday today, I'm trying to keep him out of the hall, the shed, the kitchen etc etc so he doesn't spot his presents. He has got a big boys bike, can't wait to see his face in the morning
It will be lovely that DH will be here when he gets up too (although the reason for it not so nice ).
Like you all say though DS bday will lighten what will otherwise be a horrible day.

Hope everyone has a good day, the weather here is gorgeous again!

LadyBuzz · 23/06/2009 09:38

Daisy for you. I would not be happy either!

LolaBella · 23/06/2009 09:57

How rude Daisy some dog owners are so irresponsible. They make me so Can you report the owner? Next time it could be a child.

I was bitten on the face (lip infact) when i was six by a small dog and still have the scar to prove it

juanitad · 23/06/2009 10:54

Grrrr Daisy, if I see the poo poo poodle owner I'll give him a piece of my mind on your behalf!

Re: Harrogate, instead of Betty's, why don't we have a picnic in Valley Gardens? Looking at my finances, perhaps thoughts of Betty's were a bit ambitious! So, Daisy, barbs, ceebee, lolabella are any of these dates good for you? 1 July, 6 July, 7 July, 9 July, 20 July, 21 July, 22 July (sorry, can't do week of 13th July, will be at work)

Ceebee74 · 23/06/2009 14:15

Just checking in before I go to Take That (not sure if I mentioned that )

I can do the 9 July and any day of the week commencing 20th - although if it is the 20th, not sure if I am brave enough to bring DS1 aswell

Hope you are all ok - will try and catch up tomorrow.

Buzz as I won't get on again until sometime tomorrow, happy birthday to your DS1 (my DS1 is also getting a big boy bike for his birthday ) - hope the day goes aswell as it can do for you all

twinklingfairy · 23/06/2009 15:01

oh, that reminds me. I took one of my 2 in buckets. Now, where is it??
Check my FB this evening, I am sure I will have found it by then.
They are just brilliant things those tubs, aren't they
The babies inside them are better, of course!!

ceebee hope you have a fab time. I saw, on This Morning, that they do a really good show.
I sooo don't norm watch that show, norm out with DD somewhere, but DS has been running a high temp so we been house bound today and yesterday.

It is nice to get so many cuddles, I am just giving in to this demand for now. My kari me has come out of the cupboard and I am so glad I did not sell it as I had planned to. In another of course I can get nothing done.
Yesterday I tried to do things. Yikes poor wee red eyed boy. But this way is much more peaceful and calm.
Saying that I have still hung out 2 loads of washing, hoovered the living room and made some bread.
ok I will fess up, my parents took DD on her sponsored walk and I got 2hrs! DS was attached for the duration.

blabla bla, boy I can talk!

PinkyMinxy · 23/06/2009 17:56

Cricri- happy birthday! I think I missed thta somehow, sorry!

ceebee have a fab time tonight!

Daisy grr at poo poodle and owner

Barbs I quite envy you. We have soo much shite stuff I wish I could go back to when we first bought the house had had just a few things!

I wish I could come to Harrogate- would love to meet up.

Mimi has been given some really yucky strong antibiotics now

vbab78 · 23/06/2009 18:52

lacks at that poodle and the owner. I hope you gave them BOTH a good shouting at. My aunty has a yorkshire terrier well when DS was about 2 we started going around with my mum. Well this s**t of a animal kept going for my legs everytime I stood up and even got me a couple of times. But when DS would go near it (even up to its face) it was fine. My auntie whom is lovely kept saying like it was ok and normal that "it knows you are scared" . Must admit I have a bad history with yorkshire terriers as her previous 1 when I was about 6+ used to attack me and sis if we went near the x-mas tree. But I was fine with the dog in the beginning not scared at all. After it "nipped" me a couple of times I told my mum that me and DS are not going anymore as I dont trust it and I would never forgive myself if something happened to DS and I didnt follow my instincts. Me and mum had quite a few cross words about it and how it would hurt my auntie's feelings us not going anymore. I have been once with the kids (just stepped in door) to give aunt a lift and quite nice of her she held the dog to stop me being scared. I'm sure that little dogs are nastier than big dogs.

ChocOrange05 · 23/06/2009 19:31

Daisy I HATE dogs - sorry for any dog owners/lovers, I am just very scared of the teeth and your story shows why! Poor you and at the dog and owner.

Ceebee enjoy TT - I was never a fan when I was younger but I quite like their new stuff, I went to see The Spice Girls and Boyzone last year and loved recapturing my youth!

Does everyone's LO's still drink from a bottle?? I ask because M has been drinking from his Doidy cup (or any other available open cup) since we started weaning and he is doing quite well with it - he needs help initially grabbing the handles but then he drinks well only spilling a bit down the sides of his mouth. But for the past few nights he seems to be getting really fed up with his 6.30pm bottle (his other feeds are breast) drinking less and less, from 8oz to 5 last night. Tonight he seemed to stop at 4oz which I thought wasn't enough so I took the lid off the bottle and he sipped another 3oz of it. It was a little messy and his top got wet but most of it seemed to go down.

Should I be giving him the feed out of a cup now then? Has anyone else experienced this?

DH is out watching Transformers at the IMAX tonight so I am MN-ing and scrabbling.

sparkletoes · 23/06/2009 20:05

Just skimming..

Awful about that stupid mutt Daisy

ChocO what stage teets are u using on the bottle? Perhaps flow not fast enough?? DS1 used bottles from 7.5 mnths to 9 mnths when I decided to use a cup as I hate hate hated bottles. Wasn't quite brave enough to use the doidy all the time but did have one and this time DS2 gets all his water/juice from the doidy. Milk still all from me tho so no experience there... The mess of a doidy puts me off with milk tho to be honest...

ChocOrange05 · 23/06/2009 20:17

He uses fast flow teats. We have the mothercare self sterilising bottles with nuby teats.

sparkletoes does that mean your DS is EBF? I am really impressed with people who do that!

sparkletoes · 23/06/2009 20:43

hmm dunno know then ChocO I remember discovering (late) there were 3 flows of teet with DS1 and when we got the fastest ones he was much happier but if u already doing that can only think he just prefers cups!

Haha no way on the EBM I soo cannot be bothered this time around and I only seem to get about 1oz when I express anyway - even when they like rocks ??? But means no darn bottles so far yay!

PinkyMinxy · 23/06/2009 20:57

LOL Sparkles I'm on the EBF because can't be bothered with anyhting else, too!
I remember at this stage with DD1 meaning to give her a bottle in the day so I Could Leave Her With Someone Else (yeah right like that was ever gonna happen, but I kept forgetting to sort it out I am soo lazy!

Ther new antibiotics seem to be going down ok, no puking thus far and she has slept well. How I am going to fit 4 doses a day in I really don't know.

lol I made a little kimono top and pants set for mimi this week, but I couldn't work out why the legs looked like cowboy pants and the rise was really low, only to discover I had sewn all the leg pieces together upside down! fortunately I manged to work it out and re sew them before I took Mimi out in them!

Choc I'm very impressed with the cup business. I have used the doidy cups but DS especially used to just lift it to his mouth then pour it all down his front, so I think you are doing fantasticaly well!

LackaDAISYcal · 23/06/2009 21:00

Not sure what to suggest on the bottles choc....maybe as sparkles says he just likes a cup. bumble had some water from a normal plastic cup today and had a greattime with it. Not sure about bottles either as my little man hasn't had one for ages. Dh tried to give him a bottle on Saturday and he struggled to get him to take it. I thought it was because he hasn't had one for a while, but on reflection I think we still might be using newborn teats...oops. Although I was advised to keep the teats as slow flowing as possible with EBM so that they don't get used to express milk rather than expressed

Cricri....I don't think I wished you happy birthday either

Pinky, I hope Mimi is feeling better soon, and J as well twinkling.

I got all set up to take photos and do listings for nappies this evening....and my camera battery is flat....bugger.

I hope Ceebee is having a lovely time tonight, but.........

LackaDAISYcal · 23/06/2009 21:05

Oh, and for all the BFers; I have just bought a couple of these tops as I was fed up with manky huge clips showing under strappy summer vests. they are fantastic; lovely support and shape and the clip on them is really discreet and doesn't look like a nursing clip at all. Only problem is you uncover your whole boob so need a strategically placed muslin lest you expose yourself unwittingly. They are a bit dear but I'm sure I'll get my money's worth out of them. Some places have different colours as well. I got a deep red one and black.

sparkletoes · 23/06/2009 21:15

Haha yeah Pinky the only person I can leave the kids with is DH! We always gave DS1 a bottle at night (of either formula or EBM whatever I had at the time) so he was fine with bottles... But DS2 has never experienced bottles or formula so am a bit worried as I am going out this Sat with friends.. He hasn't even had much EBM. Will feed him before I go tho and again when I come back and at least he will get solids in between so will not starve.

Have to say tho if (it is a HUGE if) I did have a 3rd I would revert back to the bottle at night as this time around has been bloody hard work but I am a bit inordinately proud of myself this time for managing it.

But am actually even more proud of the fact I made my own curtains for my dining room at the weekend!! They have a pattern which matches in the middle and everything Can imagine I would definately make a mess of clothes tho!! Would be lovely to do that u r very clever Pinky!!
