que ???? that should read cue!

Dozymare · 22/06/2009 13:49

chocgal how did the scan go? any indications??? We are all good here, really enjoying life, feel so blessed at times.

Tiger is a poppet, she scoffs for England and being my 3rd, has also had the odd lick or 5 of ice-cream! No chocolate yet though, although sure it won't be long with my current addiction to green and black creamy milk - yum!

Tiger also loves the "that's not my..." range of books, although she tries to eat them! Still no teeth though!

Poor old DS2 looks dreadful at the moment, he has his big old scar from when he fell over, then at my parents this weekend (we were at a party, they slept over the 3 of them for the frist time together) he fell and bashed his face on the sofa....got vut nose and a cracking bruise on his forehead. Poor poppet. Hwe really is so clumsy, more so than DS1 but he just doesn't get the concept of falling safely (ie putting hands out). Anyone else's DS like this?!! He is 3 next month....

daisy I am also thinkiing of giving up cloth,. I really, really hate it tbh......lots of reasons, mainly the washing and the smell....and can't bear picking up the liners with poo.......are you using eco nappies? If so, what ones? I always used the naturecare ones but have remember you saying there was another good brand when I was initially htinking of switching from disposable to cloth.....

cricri good news on the sleep, sounds as if you are getting E into a good routine, which as you know, IME is the key to calm and happy kids, plus frrdom for the parents!!

Love to all

Nice to see you dozy

kidneys are now within normal range, but still have a dilation of 5 & 10mm. That was our last scan though. For your DS's to be deemed 'normal' was there any dilation still present?

Meant to say fb reminded me Happy Birthday cricri

LadyBuzz · 22/06/2009 14:42

Dozy my DS1 is clumsy too - can't think where he would get that from
Its not normal if he doesn't have a bruise, usually on his face. Nursery have even stopped asking what happened . They are used to him now I think!

Choc glad the scan went well for you.

cricri Happy birthday

vbab ouch, it did make me laugh!

ellielou02 · 22/06/2009 15:10

Hello

vbab ouch but it made me giggle today

ladybuzz sending hugs to you for wed. Your night on sat sounded good I have always been too chicken to get anything like that done.

sparkles big wave back we are about 20 miles north of dundee so closew enough for shopping etc.

choc glad E's scan went well I hope your headache gets better soon.

dozy nice to "see" you back I too am really enjoying my girls (and DH) and feel very lucky to have them.

Glad some people are getting better sleeps now

We had a nice fathers day tea at my parents yesterday, it was my dads birthday also so it was good (had some wine).
We got a bit of bad news though, one of the men that was kidnapped in iraq and then 2 bodies were flown back to the UK, well found out it was my mums cousin, so sad, I didnt know him but had met a few times when I was little but still my mums upset and my grandads upset too I think he had kids but they all live down south so we really didnt see them much at all.

What is everyones baby eating now we are getting in a rut a bit, I was gonna try millie on some cous cous, chicken and tomatoes tonight to see how she gets on, I seem to buy more or less the same food every week so trying something a bit different

LadyBuzz · 22/06/2009 15:38

Ellielou sorry to hear that, Its awful when its someone you know.

Jay eats anything you give him - and anything else he can gets his hands on

phee96 · 22/06/2009 18:25

sorry for quick post, am posting from phone so can't catch up properly.

Sorry to hear about your mum's cousin ellielou

Ouch vbab and yay bumble!

Well the cold I had turned out to be sinusitis so I felt awful for a few days but am feeling much better now. I felt like I had been punched in the face.

We have found out today that dh may lose his main contract will find out for sure next week. If he does lose the contract he has basically lost his job as there are so few other jobs at the mo (he's a self employed joiner). We will be totally up shit creek if that happens, could really do without this right now

Sorry for such a whinging post

ellielou02 · 22/06/2009 18:59

Awww phee glad you are feeling better but that is def stress you dont need just now, fingers crossed for your DH.

chocolategal · 22/06/2009 19:09

Hi again,
Routine has gone tits up today so DS is still up wide awake & playing!
Means when DH gets in he will see him though.

ladybuzz will be thinking about you & your friend on Wednesday. What a terrible thing to have to go through.
Hi ellielou that's also terrible news
phee glad your feeling better & I've got my fingers crossed that things work out with your DH job.

LackaDAISYcal · 22/06/2009 19:44

just a quick post from me to say glad you're feeling better phee but bugger about DH's job. fingers crossed for him.

ellie, sorry to hear about your mum's cousin .

LB, will be thinking of your friend and her family on Wednesday. I hope DS1 has a good birthday as well though and that it lightens what will be a sad day.

Dozy, great to see you . HAve you decided to stick two fingers up to your so called friend? . We used the bamboo dispos called bambo; you can buy them online. If you go onto a site called Spirit of Nature; you can order some free samples of them and also the Moltex ones. We are using Pampers at the minute; desperately trying to find some nappies that will accommodate bumbles mahooooosive thighs. He really is a sumo baby. the nature babies ones just don't fit as there isn't enough stretch at the waist/leg and he was getting red raw rings.

Pinky (you are sooooo NOT irritating!!) , we also bought the Evolva for DD and put it in the car on the recline. It's more of a slight lean than a recline though but DD seems very comfortable in it. It has lovely big wings to support her head when she nods off. It also gets pretty good safety review from Which who are usually pretty down on multi-stage car seats. It's pretty wide though; we had to buy a much narrower booster for DS1 as his exiting one was too wide to get the Evolva and bumble's maxi-cosi across our back seats. Your car is wider though I think.

Oh dear vbab; I hope your bum cheek isn't too sore. I would be wanting a refund though if a bit of plastic managed to rip them!!

ermmmm, can't remember what else.....

and not really quick was it?

Ceebee74 · 22/06/2009 19:54

Evening all

Buzz so for Wednesday - will be thinking about your friends. I am sure DS1 will manage to have a good day anyway.

Sparks yay for Tinytoes sleeping better - you might start to feel human again soon This morning DH found DS1 sat in the Hamster's cot reading books to him Unfortunately there is not much we can do to stop him climbing in as he is not using anything to help him so just trying to keep him away when the Hamster is asleep - whoever said having 2 children was easy is a complete liar!!!

Dozy good to hear from you. We have been lucky with DS1 and have not had many accidents - although he does seem to have developed a recent habit of walking into doorframes whilst not looking where he is going cos he is too busy chatting! I can honestly say that we have never had to use a plaster on him

Hi to everyone else - this is just a quickie for now as I am in the middle of cooking tea - will try and catch up later.

LolaBella · 22/06/2009 20:08

Not been online for ages but just wanted to say i'm still about every now and again I'v been arranging my wedding as i get married in less than 5 weeks and have just had my hen do this last weekend gone.

Hi to everyone.
I'v just a quick read through the thread and a huge congrats to Phee. Fab news. I have to admit i'm a little broody myself. In fact i'm quite jealous of any pregnant women i see . I'm not sure why as there is no way we are ready for another just yet!

I have to also agree with others on the thread about this age of our LO's being fab. O is such a pleasure (most days) and is coming on leaps and bounds.

I don't know if any of you remember but O was a very very poor sleeper. On a bad night was up 6/7 times, on a good night was up 3 times. This has improved and we now have 1 night waking and have had 5 glorious sleep throughs!!

Saw a while back (sorry can't remember who was asking) that somebody was enquiring about the Petite Star Zia. I have one and it's great. Light, easy to fold away and reclines. Good purchase

So sorry to read about Ladybuzz's friend and Ellielou's mums cousin. such tragic news

I'm goint to make much more of an effort to keep up from now one

LackaDAISYcal · 22/06/2009 20:17

Hey Lola; good to hear from you . Wedding planning is hard work. How I managed to do mine 250 miles away from my intended, working full time and effectively a lone parent I don't know, and I made all my own invitations and place settings and favours etc! Yay for your sleep throughs though. Well done O

any of the Scottish lot watching eastenders? Doing the image of Scotland the world of good

oh dear ceebee at DS1 climbing into hamster's cot! Like you say not much you can do about it, but just watch it doesn't give hamster the idea that he can get out as easily!!

LolaBella · 22/06/2009 20:23

Thanks Daisy yes hardwork trying to get everything to 'come together' for one day. At present i am trying to sort seating plan but it's a logistical nightmare!

coolkat · 22/06/2009 20:29

Hi Ladies

Sorry not posted for ages, my face nearly back to normal, one eye still bigger than the other though

Vbab LOL at scratching your arse on a dyson! In answer to your sun parasol question I got the Shade a bub. It works well on my big pram as it has a small sturdy hood as it basically extends the hood. I did not want a shade a babe as I wanted to let Becca still see out etc.

We went to a pram shop the other day and DH played with the Baby Jogger City Mini and he thought it was fab and bought us one

Has anyone moved their Lo's into the next stage car seat? Becca still fits in the infant carrier but think she would be happier in her forward facing one. At the same time I know there is lots in the press about keeping them rear facing.

Dozy good to see you.

Wow Lola planning a wedding how fantastic.

We are having a nightmare with sleep and so think its to do with teeth. On a funny note Becca now growls at us She is indeed a little beast!

twinklingfairy · 22/06/2009 20:54

Wow lola how did you do it My J is still not sleeping through and I am getting V fed u with it.

Dozy real nappies get sooo much easier once they are doing real proper solid poos, hang in there or try again when LO is a bigger maybe.
I just love real nappies and have a real disliking of paper ones. We don't wear paper pants, why should our babes? Just my opinion though ignore me.

We are stuck in the what seat for DS thing too.
We bought a new one for DD, so DS could get hers.
Halfords told us she was 15kg therefore able to go into the one that only uses the seatbelt IYSWIM.
Nope, she was only 13.5kg
She is still only 14kg and not tall enough to be too big for her britax classic.
Now gonna have to buy her an inbetweeny until she is heavy/tall enough cos DSs straps are coming up from behind his shoulders now, big badness. Grrrr

sparkletoes · 22/06/2009 21:11

Hello again,

Great that some of us Scots have had a meet up !! Hope scan goes well Chocgal

LOL Dozy Tinytoes also eats those books (or any books, or anything for that matter!!) Just hope he leaves me well alone or it will be bottles for him!

LB will be thinking of you on Wed..

Terrible news for u too Ellielou sorry to hear that.

Poor you Phee sinusitis sucks and must be worse if pg and can't take much meds wise hugs to you too. Fingers xed for DH.

Ceebs guess wot.. my DS1 also forever walking into door frames/door knobs and falling. His legs are covered in bruises and infact so are mine! DS2 always kicking me when I feed him in bed - it can be sore when he kicks a bruise!! But yes the better sleeps are soo much better altho am taking every night as it comes and have a bad feeling about tonight.... We'll see!

Don't watch Eastenders Daisy but that doesn't surprise me... however there was a terrible story in news about a girl who got raped on the cycle track near to us in middle of the day. Bloody awful, makes you wonder about the world when things like that happen so close. I use that track every Tue am as it is quick way of going to toddlers. Not sure if I want to now.

How lovely a wedding Lolabella!! When's the big day??

Glad you feeling better Coolkat but sorry about the nightmares at night I know ALL about that so can def sympathise... As for the car seat, a shop shouldn't really sell the next stage seat to you until babies are at least 9 mnths.. We were keen to get DS1 into the forward facing seat too but am happy to leave Tinytoes in his infant carrier until he really outgrows it (head start to overhang the seat at the top). The evidence against it is quite convincing IMO.

Jeeze that was a tome...

PinkyMinxy · 22/06/2009 21:19

Hello

Well DD1 has been a bit of a yoyo tonight. I have run myself a bath and hope I will get chance to get into it!

LB I am so sorry for your friend . I cannot imagine what they are going through.

I am sure your DS will have a lovely birthday, it will be an opportunity to let a little light into such a sad day.

And Ellielou sympathy to your famil.

DM and Dasiy sorry you have lost your cloth mojo. Hopefully it will return!

LOla hello! congratulations on the wedding palns, and more importantly, the sleep

Car seats. DH was not convinced by the seat, unfortunately. We have discovered (upon reading the manual that DS's seat does in fact recline- not by much, as you say, but better than sitting bolt upright on long car journeys in the evening.

SO back to the drawing board on that front. Heyho.

Errm.. oh yes.. hope youfeel better soon phee and are you on the mend, coolkat??

Love to allxx

chocolategal · 22/06/2009 21:22

Just a real quickie on the subject of car seats it shouldn't matter the age, the guide is 9 months but if your LO exceeds the weight limit or is too long like sparkle said then it's time for next size. That could be at 7 months or 9+ months.
I've just done a bit of reading on it and been asking advice from my friend who is a traffic cop.

PinkyMinxy · 22/06/2009 21:24

oh yes, we're notmoving anybody inmto bigger seats yet- it was just that m/care has a sale on. Mimi will be wedged into her seat same as the other two were! Though she is rather beyond any idea of the seat being an 'infant carrier' lol I would def.have one arm much longer than the other!

x-posts there, coolkat. glad you are feeling better, but you have my sympathy on the sleep/teeth thing. Mimi has been veyr unsettled this last few days. I may take her to GP tomorrow, because I'm not convinced her chest is clear.

vbab78 · 22/06/2009 21:39

Hi all. Glad I have amused you with my dyson bottom antics .
autumn thoughts are with you and the little boy's family for wednesday.
car seats interesting conflab . Would love to put Alyssa in DS forward facing seat. Bit more roomy for her and great view. Plus carrying her in the car seat is a right mare. Dont think she is the correct weight though and isnt that what matters?
weaning since seeing HV for weigh in with Alyssa last week I have pulled my finger out and realised Alyssa loves food and I was holding her back. So far so good with the odd choke here and there.
tarot reading ... anyone had it done? opinions?
Laters ... going to watch war of the worlds I/kids bought DH for fathers day.

vbab78 · 22/06/2009 21:41

coolkat - you said "shade a bub" have you got a phil and ted? Or did you mean "protect a bub"?

cricri · 22/06/2009 21:47

Thanks for all the birthday wishes ladies I've had a good day, but I'm exhausted - I hosted an NCT get-together at lunchtime and although there were only 3 of us plus the babies, it still took time to get everything ready etc. Plus the babies were all unsettled so if one started crying then that set the other off. Not the most restful birthday! Fortunately E went off to sleep nice and early (so at least I've had the evening to spend with DH. Eating the left-overs from lunch I've had some lovely presents though and am a lucky girl
Chocgal Sorry to hear E was unsettled at his scan. Was the result ok?
Dozy Lovely to see you, we've missed you! Glad Tiger is doing so well. E is another book-chewer!
Lola Lovely to see you too. Good luck with the wedding planning - I admire you doing it with a LO, I found it stressful enough without having a baby to look after as well! Seating plans are a nightmare!
Ellielou about your mum's cousin. I was reading about it in the paper yesterday.
Phee Fingers crossed for your DH.
Vbab Hope your bum is better
Pinky Hope you managed to enjoy a relaxing bath and that all goes well at the GP's tomorrow with Mimi.
Hello to everyone I've missed!

sparkletoes · 22/06/2009 21:50

We were told with DS1 that yes the weight was important but also they had to be 9 mnths on account of neck muscles or something... Dunno but guess the guidelines will probably have changed yet again in light of the new research.

Agree with Vbab on the carrying the buggers thing tho - I avoid it as much as I can but not always possible!! However Tiny is staying in his as like Twinkling we will also need to get new seat for DS1 as soon as DS2 outgrows the infant carrier...
