Star - Good to know those seat things work. How small does it fold up?

MM- I bought a a pop up UV tent at Grand Designs Live which I had to return because it ripped the first time I tried it out. I've had skin cancer and S is really fair like me, so I'm ultra cautious and I need to get another one. Which one did you get?

Marthasmama · 28/05/2009 17:28

Aubergenie - I got this one as I wanted something a bit different. They have less girly ones too. It is factor 50+ so is on a par with all the others I have seen. I am really fair skinned and M is a bit of a snow white too. DS is olive skinned which is strange as he is blonde and takes after his half Scottish father! I have Italian blood but am almost blue I'm so pale. I burn with factor 25 on.

Marthasmama · 28/05/2009 17:33

I have just had another offer code from Oh Baby London offering 20% off until the end of May.

'For the last few days of May we're offering you a whopping 20% discount off everything, PLUS any purchase you make will put you in the draw to win a £100 voucher to spend at Oh Baby London*!
Simply enter the code "MAY" in the discount code box at checkout to receive your discount. Feel free to share it around and make someone's day.

Get in quick, 'cause it ends midnight Monday 1 June...'

There you go ladies. I am shopped out as I took advantage of the Boden offer! [cliché]

aubergenie · 28/05/2009 17:52

You'll have to let me know how you get on with that tent MM. It looks really nice.

On the subject of discounts, Green Baby has got 30% off a lot of holiday/summer stuff. They've got various mineral sunscreens included in the offer, MM. Here

Marthasmama · 28/05/2009 18:39

Ah!!!! I have been looking for a mineral sunscreen! I have asked in a few big Boots stores as I had read that they were going to become more main stream yet people still look at me like I'm mad. Thank you.

Bloody hell you have been busy - i can't keep up and i was only on yesterday

Hmm - glad poppy is being less sick. Joe started to get better about 29 to 30 weeks, just before i saw paed funnily enough so Poppy may have turned a corner, i hope so.

Got friends coming round for tea tommorrow so i will be making scones i guess (just to copy everyone else!!) My neighbour swears by the scone mix she buys in big sacks from the farmers store in town. Her dh still thinks she makes them herself but she just adds milk to the mix and hey presto....may try some of that instead.

Thanks for the crown Star - i'm touched. Hope Q has a good night again and don't question why he's sleeping jst enjoy it!! If its easier for you to wait until the summer i would say do it on one condition: that when he cries you bring him into bed straight away rather then leaving him to cry for a bit and then doing it. The reason is that if you are going to 'give in' better to do it straight away. Can't explain atm as i'm too pooped to type properly. Joe coughing in the night, didn't wake him but kept me awake most of the night, poor lamb

Got to go and finish Joe jumper. I tried in on him today or tried to get it on him but his head is far too big for the neck hole. I have been knitting it for weeks so i was a bit peed off but i guess Joe has a big head . I'll have to undo the shoulder seam and put buttons in and he will bloody wear it til he's ten years old, the amount of effort i've put in!!

star6 · 28/05/2009 20:22

pistachio. Thanks!
Aubergenie it folds up really small, like the size of one of my long sleeved t shirts - does that help? Q really likes it. It's super cute, too. If you put it on a chair in a restaurant, everyone stops to look at it and then they entertain your baby for you

Oh! when in epsom last weekend, a lady reached into Q's pushchair and PINCHED HIS CHEEK! I was so annoyed as she was smoking, too and didn't want her so near him.

Marthasmama · 28/05/2009 20:29

Was she Italian Star? Sounds like an Italian thing to do, especially with the fag on!

M has a bath with me tonight and there were bubbles.....turns out M is terrified of bubbles! Whenever they went near she started squeaking and panicking. I had to hold her out of the bath with DH scooped the bubbles out into the sink. She was a little braver with the little ones that were left, but would still only poke them with her toy crocodile. Heh heh heh!!!

CantSleepWontSleep · 28/05/2009 20:47

Ooh I'd have said something star, if she was touching him whilst smoking. Something along the lines of 'fuck off you fag hag and leave my baby alone' would have prob done the trick .

Where's ronshar gone - is she away for half term?

MM - (our) men are a bit stupid really aren't they .

Like the sound of the muffin recipe aubergenie. What time did your delivery arrive?
Yay for S rolling over.

Pistachio - dd is a 'particular' eater, and given the chance would probably live on a diet of ice lollies and biscuits, but she does actually eat pretty well, and is getting even better since we began weaning ds. She won't eat most fruit (though loves lychees), but is good with most veg (except spinach, courgettes (though she ate them in the scones ) and mushrooms) and most carbs. She isn't a big fan of meat though, unless highly processed, but I guess that that might come with time.

Ds has eaten much much better today. I think that he was probably just a bit too tired to eat well the last few days, as he'd been getting up too early, but slept much better last night (did I say already that he slept 8:35pm-4:20am in a single stretch last night?), and had a good morning nap (1hr 50mins) and just a little one late afternoon, so was more refreshed today.

May I just be the voice of reason for a moment, and point out that whilst excessive amounts of sugar aren't necessary, it isn't the devil's food, and a little every now and then won't do any harm.

aubergenie · 28/05/2009 21:03

Thanks Star - I think I'll get one. It'll be really handy. I'll check Ebay first.

Aah poor little M with the bubbles - don't you wonder what goes on in their heads sometimes. S pooed on the bath mat this evening. He thought it was hilarious.

CSWS - What did you decide to do about applying for that job in the end?

I'm desperate to go to bed but dp wants to discuss our holiday plans.

pepperrabbit · 28/05/2009 21:08

Yuck to smelly smokers touching Q! I probably wouldn't have been as brave as CSWS, but would definitely have tutted...
Have got much better at typing with my arm strapped up, so might actually get to catch up now.
CSWS, hurray for so much sleep last night! You must feel like a new woman after a few nights of better kip.
I'm not too retentive about sugar tbh as I'd only give her specific for baby stuff at the mo - I like the Rachels' Organic stuff but it seems so expensive.
DD made us laugh this morning, she's in her activity thing and eating a Power Ranger or somesuch, and DS2 comes up to take it away from her (zords are very precious ) and she looked at him, paused and then went RAAAAAAAR like a lion. He jumped about 8 feet! I heve never heard her shout so properly like that. No prizes for guessing who's going to be boss out of my 3!

CantSleepWontSleep · 28/05/2009 21:16

I'm going to apply aubergenie .

RachieW · 28/05/2009 21:33

Hi all! We're back off hols, had a great time, good weather etc. Ds loved all the attention he got from his grandparents and aunty and uncle, also loved spending time with his Dad. It was so lovely to spend time together as a family Despite my apprehension MIL and FIL were great and MIL really got into the spirit of blw. They also babysat ds so we could go out and then had him sleep in their room so we could actually have a whole nights sleep First day back alone today with ds, feeling shattered at being sole carer again...wish MIL was here so I could have done a bit more sunbathing!

I'm never going to be able to catch up on your posts for the last 2 weeks, took me ages to find this thread again but hope you and the babies are all well?

Marthasmama · 28/05/2009 21:36

Oh - That's not good news CSWS, but if it's the right decision for your family, I'm sure you can make it work.

Marthasmama · 28/05/2009 21:38

Welcome back Rachie! Well done surviving with the inlaws. My MIL couldn't baby sit M as M hates doesn't like her. Heh heh heh.

RachieW · 28/05/2009 21:58

Thanks MM- have to say was sooo surprised that they didn't annoy me. Am kind of seeing them in a new light now which is nice. MIL did try a few times to calm J when he was in his early evening needy times, didn't work at all. Think she was a bit disappointed, but secretly I was glad as he is such a sociable happy to be held by anyone boy that it was really my first indication that he knows I'm his Mum and that I can do things for him others can't. Silly I know but reassuring for me

Honeymoonmummy · 28/05/2009 21:59

Hi all, I'm off to catch up, see you in 3 days...

Marthasmama · 28/05/2009 22:01

Hello Hmm!!! Get yourself a new laptop!!

Honeymoonmummy · 28/05/2009 22:23

Up to page 27... Hi MM! How did the naming day go? (not got to that bit yet so don't repeat yourself!) BTW, I never got the pressie u mentioned, I didn't want u to think I was ungrateful and had got it but not said anything!

Marthasmama · 28/05/2009 22:27

Have you not???? I'll ask DH, he was meant to post it for me. He is very forgetful though! If he has forgotten, I am going into town tomorrow so can post it myself. Then I'll know it's done. He was meant to order his brother in-law's 30th birthday present and completely forgot. He was also supposed to take the vacuum cleaner to be repaired and that has been his boot for.....6 weeks I think. It's been to Stratford-upon-Avon a few times so he's taken the vacuum cleaner away more times than he's taken me!

Marthasmama · 28/05/2009 22:28

Oh and I looked at the thread for the Sept 2008 babies and they are still on a thread they started in March!

CantSleepWontSleep · 28/05/2009 22:31

Tee hee mm. Norty norty.

OP posts:
Marthasmama · 28/05/2009 22:33

I have just realised that saying DH has taken the vacuum away with him could sound a little, well, wrong. Obviously I didn't mean it like that!

Honeymoonmummy · 28/05/2009 22:34

Up to page 28 now so glad the naming day went well!!

CSWS good news on the sleeping and commando crawling front! (unless something drastic happens between pages 29-35) What exactly did you do? Just leave DS alone in cot or sit with him or what?
