Hi all, still not managing to get on MN much since holiday.

Aubergenie- it's a small world, I've been to Greenwich today on a boat for a colleague's wedding, we went up and down the Thames for 4 hours...maybe we passed each other down the river

Dh had ds alone all day, the first time he's had him for a whole day. Think he found it really hard and now realises that looking after him full time takes a lot of effort...of course I've been saying this for 7 months

Jenwa- have the same with dh, he's never spontanious so I know that he's building up to it by which time like you say I've had time to think how tired I am etc.. Oh sometimes (I suppose not really since ds and crushing tiredness)I'd love to be thrown down unexpectedly and ravaged....

Star your marriage doesn't suck, we all just do things differently and in ways that work for us. My way is often barking "I'm not doing that tonight". So I feel bad as your points about not making other people feel bad made me think about my reactions...should have been as canny as you with your 2 week period

jenwa · 31/05/2009 09:58

rachie haha yes I agree spontantious would be lovely. Its all about timing around kids and sleep and waking up etc and they never pick the best times!

had fab night dds did not get up til 8:15 so had a lie in sort off, dog woke me up at 5am not normal so had to let her out then DH text at 8 so I got up then dd1 woke then went in to dd2 at 8:30 (she had stirred at 7 but went back off but we are so behind now as did everything the wrong way this am, showered and got ready before brekkie so dds have only just eaten!

Looks like another nice day.

pistachio did you find thread??? Was odd!
actually some were calling it rape but I dont think that applies really when its a spoken agreement that your DH is able to do that. Not my idea of a good nights sleep!

star6 · 31/05/2009 10:24

It's ok csws I was just tired and oversensitive.
Rachie don't feel badly - that's a personal issue I have.

pepperrabbit · 31/05/2009 10:42

star - you could always tell him that since you had Q your periods have gradually got shorter. Gently gets you back to the truth without upsetting anyone.
I was very suspicious yesterday when DH was so desperate romantic he opened a bottle of champagne with dinner
Like I'm going to fall for that

Ah myjob I am sure there are others
Glad your DS was not too bad last night. DD usually only had 1 a night and for about 2 weeks then they are only avery so often now. Not had one in the last week!

pepper haha re suspicious re the champagne, they think they know what works!

star hope you ok today

I have lost my cooking insperation today, think becuase DH away I am tired now and its hot so I am pushing the boat out with beans and scrambled egg for tea! Want someone to come cook my tea for me and my children, did consider going round to the pub as they often do a bbq there (so Dh told me)

Pistachio - Q is still crawling backwards, too. We laugh at with him

star6 · 31/05/2009 19:46

We spent the day in London. Did natural history museum, science museum, holland park, then walked to Earls Court (where we used to live 5 years ago) Then got train home from wimbledon. it's only a 15 minute journey, we should do it more often. Q was so curious looking everywhere and loved the train. He's knackered now and fell asleep straight away at 7.

CantSleepWontSleep · 31/05/2009 19:46

Ds went backwards first pistachio, and still does sometimes. He still only does a tiny bit of going forwards in fact, but he seems to get where he wants to go. He's a lot lazier than his sister was with it all! I think he'd been going backwards for about a week before he did his first bit of forward movement.

Nice family day out at a farm with friends today.

Not had dinner yet, as was too late in, so did a quickie for the kids and dh and I will have ours shortly.

new thread soon.....

jenwa · 31/05/2009 20:06

oh gosh we do chat dont we also meant to mention that I had also seen Sept thread mm

Sneezing away here!

Waiting for DH to return home, he said he would be back this afty, then it was tea time, then it would be about kids bed time.... I said all along he would not get back til late!

Sounds like you have all had nice day.

aubergenie · 31/05/2009 21:11

Are we really nearly due for a new thread? Wow this one's gone really fast.

Well, I hit the shops in central London today. It's been so long since I went clothes shopping I was completely lost. I was just wandering round that huge Top Shop on Oxford Circus in a daze feeling like the world's biggest frump. Fortunately my sister came along and got me back on track and it was quite a successful trip. Dp and ds had a great time together and managed perfectly well without me. In fact ds didn't seem remotely excited to see me when I got home. I felt a bit put out.

Sorry to hear about all the night terrors various dcs are having. They sound dreadful.

Glad everyone seems to have had a good day. I went for a facial this morning, a bday present from my friend, was so lovely...nearly fell asleep.

We looked after a friends dd this afternoon for an hour, there's only 2 weeks between her and ds and it was so cute to them babbling to each other. She is really cuddly, not at all like ds who only wants to picked up so he can see or reach something I think he was showing off today when she was here, rolling all around and making lion roaring type sounds, probably asserting his maleness from a young age

Really interested to hear about backward crawling. J is able to move round in a circle on his tummy and has just started to lift his bum in the air and try to move forward. He doesn't seem to have worked out that he has to lift his head up so drags his face along the floor, have to keep moving him back on the blanket otherwise I'm afraid he'll get carpet burn down his cheeks

Marthasmama · 31/05/2009 22:59
  • I've ordered them!!!!! Hurrah! The Limited Edition Bitti D'lish were available for pre-order as of 9pm tonight on Twinkle Twinkle. Alas, they didn't have the cow print ones, but hey ho, I got the Strawberry ones.

We've had DH's sister and her husband round this evening as they are flying home to the US tomorrow. They have been back for a week and it was the first time they have met M. DH is feeling very as he misses his sister. We had an amazingly big row this morning but looks like it was all based on a misunderstanding. SO now were friends again.

I am knackered so I'll catch up properly tomorrow. Night ladies.

star6 · 01/06/2009 08:42

I'm so excited because I get to meet myjob soon! Fun! Anyone else nearby Surrey or London? I'm off from 19th June for the summer. July would be a great month for meet ups if anyone is around

aubergenie · 01/06/2009 08:50

Hurrah for the Strawberry bitti nappies - they're going to be so sweet under a little dress.

Rachie - I forgot to say yesterday how funny that we were both on a boat yesterday. I bet we did pass each other.

S is still waking every hour or so. And I'm fairly sure it's because he's really congested at night (I'm the same and although I'm OK during the day, I get a sore throat and am really congested at night). When he cries, he sounds hoarse, so I imagine he's also got a sore throat. It's been going on for two weeks now. Do you think I should take him to the doctor? He's absolutely fine during the day, and this seems to be the tail end of the horrible cold we've both had. I hate doctors and my gp isn't great, so I don't want to go unless I need to, but at the same time I don't want my prejudices to stop him getting some treatment. They don't give anything for colds do they?

aubergenie · 01/06/2009 08:51

Star - I'm around in London. Back to work in July though, but only 3 days a week. MM- you're not too far are you?

star6 · 01/06/2009 08:55

Well, whichever days you're not working, let's pick one We had talked about Richmond before I think - that's a possibility, or central london or Kingston Or Twickenham even - that's convenient for csws I think.

star6 · 01/06/2009 09:21

btw Q is having a horrible screaming reaction to his nappy changes and clothes changes recently. ?? He used to happily lay there and let us change him. Now he flails about, tries to turn over and screams and cries. No nappy rash that I can see... his bum, in the crevase is a bit red, but not horrible.
Anyone else experienced this change in behaviour? Normal? or abnormal?

star6 · 01/06/2009 09:50

hello? Is everyone on a new thread already?

Ekka · 01/06/2009 10:10

Star - we'll be around in July if you want to meet up, though we'll have to see how naughty independent dd is being round then as to whether I dare take her into london! The nappy changes just sounds a bit like increasing independence to me? Try giving him a toy to play with while you change him - ds always tries to roll away as soon as we take off his nappy he doesn't get too cross yet when we roll him back, but its only a matter of time!

Apparently I was the queen of backwards crawling when I was a baby, in fact I never crawled forwards, I moved over to bum shuffling instead

DS is going to cost us money - we've realised that now he is mobile, when he rolls onto our sitting room carpet any uncovered skin is coming up into hives. We had planned to get our bathrooms replaced as they are very floral, but I think we're going to have to put wood floors in the sitting room first. Ah well, the carpet belonged to the previous owners and is pretty grim, even though we got it steam cleaned twice, so its probably not a bad thing, but I really do want bathrooms that aren't a family joke

RachieW · 01/06/2009 10:10

Hello- I'm in SE London so would love to meet up too

Aubergenie- can you raise S's matress slightly? On holiday J was waking up screaming every hour which I thought was teething but calpol did nothing so I think it was because he was snuffly at night (not a cold, fine in the day so I'm putting it down to teething too) and was waking up with a start because either his nose was blocked or running into his throat (urgh). Anyway he was sleeping in a travel cot so we put a towel under the matress to raise it slightly so he wasn't totally flat and it did seem to help.

Star- Having the exact same problem with dressing and nappy changes! It takes forever and is a real struggle. I think it's because J now wants to be rolling and trying to move all the time. I remember my friend's baby at the same age being the same. J even hates his carseat now which he used to love. He is against any kind of restriction! It's so frustrating though as if he'd just lay still he'd be ready in half the time, sadly he's too young for that logic I have a load of toys upstairs by the changing mat to try and occupy him with, sometimes singing wheels on the bus works too but I'm getting very sick of that song
