Star - it is hard when you have a baby and your friends don't. We were the first amongst our group of friends to have a baby so we ended up missing out on most of the social events. Now they have all had babies and the kids seem to have a better social life than us! We find that we do different things these days, lots more afternoon teas rather than dinners and pub evenings! Are think your friends were a little unfair to be unhappy that Q was getting your attention, sounds like he was being a real poppet. And, I think Q would look odd in a dress because he looks like such a boy, just like my ds did. M has rolls so that's not necessarily a boy thing! She has chunky old legs bless her.

We did M a shallow bath tonight so she was able to lie down in it a swish around. She was loving it! She kept doing x-rated poses otherwise I would have videoed it for FB. It was hilarious.

Marthasmama · 16/05/2009 21:09

Aubergenie - M still has a mobile and DS had one until he was walking at 10 months. I think it becomes a problem once they are pulling up to standing as they can reach it and pull on it. This website often has lovely boy stuff. I'm glad you liked the playsuit. I have a 25% off discount but it expires at midnight 17th. Here are the details

'Somehow we missed adding you to the Oh Baby London family mailing list, although you asked us to! Our family is really important to us and so we want to offer you a special 25% discount, just so you know we mean it.
Simply enter the code "HELLO" in the discount code box at checkout to receive your discount. Feel free to share it around and make someone's day.'

Should have mentioned that before eh? at self!

star6 · 16/05/2009 21:13

aubergenie - Q still has a mobile... loves it. And a fisher price underwater thingy that he can push a button and it lights up with a swinging monkey and some fish... will try to find it. I didn't know they got too old for mobiles

MM - LOVE those michelin man legs aren't they soooooooo adorable?!

Marthasmama · 16/05/2009 21:17

Star - Those Fisher Price ones are great aren't they? You can take the hanging part off once they are bigger and just have the light/musical part. And yes, I want to bite those big fat yummy legs.

star6 · 16/05/2009 21:39

this aubergenie

jenwa · 16/05/2009 21:41

MM yeh for the Phoebe dress but OMG how expensive! I dont have anywear to go to justify spending money on it for!

star I know what you mean re friends, its so hard until others have children too. We already had friends who had kids so they were great and others tended to at simular times. The one thing that bugged the hell out of me were some friends (2 sets) that never had kids and when we we out with them they would always be drinking and eating the most expensive stuff then want to split the bill! This was annoying when I was pregnant and did not drink or when one of us was driving (usually me ) and also DH is a fussy eater and never ate steak etc so our meals were always cheaper so what would have cost me and DH around £20 /30 would end up £40 /£50 or more as they ate the more expensive meals and sometimes decided to buy a £20 /£30 bottle of wine! Also they always wanted to eat at 7 ish when we said best wait til DD was in bed etc or if tea included DD they still suggested 7! They both have a baby now so hopefully they will realise you have to accomodate eating out around your child and not spending so much as you cant always afford too! Not saying I am a cheap skate but I hate throwing money away especially if you dont have it to throw away! People dont always understand with kids though and dont realise that alot of kids dont tolerate sitting in one place for long or cramming too much into there day is not good either. My sis (who is fab now) used to want to spend time with DD1 but do as much as poss and I had to explain she will get overtired, needs a nap, needs to eat in the day etc!

Jenwa - When any of our friends was the designated driver the rest of us paid for their drinks and would never have expected them to split the drinks bill. That's totally out of order!

Aubergenie - We have this one for M.

jenwa · 16/05/2009 22:01

One night when we all went out, I was that peed off with it all and had got a bit stressed before hand so me and DH decided to go the whole hog and order starter, main, pud and drinks and appertisers , just to get our moneys worth it was also really noisy and I could not hear that well there so thought I may aswel eat myself away

myjob Yeh its sooo annoying when they dont listen, I would have been too scared not to as a child. I dont want DD to be scared of me but I just want her to repsect me and what I want! Its only for her own good anyway, its normaly becasue she is always running or annoying the dog or doing something that I know will end in tears anyway, I wish they understood that if they listened in the first place they would not have just caused a complete stress and wasted time

jenwa · 16/05/2009 22:02

yeh and meant to say "he he" to pepper re pirate, I bet she looked a cutie

My lovely DH has bought a bottle of pink Moet for me for no reason other than he knows I love it. Therefore I suppose I'd better pay him some attention now. Good night ladies (oh but I will be having one tiny glass as I don't want to upset poor M)

Star - It's hard when both your lives are so different. Hopefully this feeling of being on different wavelengths won't last for too ever.

Jenwa - at your friends.

MM- thanks for the discount info!

Nice mobiles. A friend has got your on MM and really likes it. I had wondered about getting a thing that does a light show on the ceiling. Has anyone ever tried one?

I really want to go to bed, but I forgot to hang the bedding out to dry so now I'm waiting for it to dry in the tumble dryer and it's taking AGES.

Sorry myjob I have heard nails and teeth and hair can go funny due to hormones but dont know much about it. My skin was awful after both of mine, soooo spotty but it cleared up in jan time. Maybe its hormones from BF, also the nail takes about 6 months to grow from base to tip so this could be what happened whilst still forming around N's birth etc and now growing out but you did not notice before as now its on the tip where the nail curves and is more prone to splitting down (as weaker than normal due to not being completely formed). You need to buff them and you can get a nail protector to paint on. Not sure about the teeth though sorry! Poor DS with those bumps though. DD fell off the loo and on her chair yesterday so has 2 bruises on her face! Its a case of "I told you so"!!!

CantSleepWontSleep · 16/05/2009 22:27

We have one that has a light display, but as D sleeps on tummy we don't use that part!

pepperrabbit · 16/05/2009 22:32

myjob - I nearly posted earlier about my nails - I think every single one has broken in the last week or so. I look like I bite them theyare all so stumpy. Teeth are fine now (they suffer while I'm pregnant but rally afterwards!) I lost a tooth with DS1 and one split in half (ouch) with DS2, and I've had to have a crown since DD...so that's probably not fine really, is it!
How strange that you get patches that disappear? Can your dentist suggest anything?
My hair has stopped falling out as much now, and I have my usual "baby" growth which is a whole new layer of hair that slowly grows like horns tufts all round my forehead...
It's so glamorous this baby thing

Honeymoonmummy · 16/05/2009 23:22

Hi all, we've just got back from night out, I've had 2 sips of wine woo hoo! Thanks for your advice, her temp was fine so we decided to go out after DH read out MM's reply, we weren't going far anyway. I'm going to bed now, I'm exhausted!

CantSleepWontSleep · 16/05/2009 23:39

I've had 2 whole glasses of wine, and am now drinking malt whisky, and still up! Shall be off to bed soon though, so no doubt ds will wake for a feed soon!

DS slept through last night! Big yay!

(Only downside is that his nappy leaked, but since it's the weekend and we've got plenty of time to deal with it, it seems a fair exchange for the sleep!)

CantSleepWontSleep · 17/05/2009 08:55

Got to bed at 1 after feeding ds, and was then up with him from 4am-5am, then up for day at 7.

csws bet you are tired and maybe have a sore head????

DD2 was unsettled last night, she was coughing again, dry tickly one. She seems to get them alot. I wonder whether once I go back to work in the bug hole hospital that I will bring home my immunites to her, me and DD and DH dont really get bugs etc. I never get many colds or have never had D&V so think the hospital made me immune. I do think it is fair though as I have crap hearing so hopefully I wont get anything else! Anyway, DD2 is bright and cheery and was not to upset last night just little cries she kept getting stuck on her tummy too! She cant roll back over in her sleeping bag and blanket!

DH in bed, he went out for afew beers last night and I think may be a little heady today! haha!! I am going to have a bath in a bit and dunk the girls too.

Rhian glad DS slept through and you had a good night hopefully you did and were not waking lots waiting for him to wake!

Right gotto go got to go to sainsburys and see mum today and get ready for my sis coming too. csws have you seen the new sainsburys in st johns? Not sure if you did when you came back last time? Bit of a weird layout and crap with trolleys as no trolley to put a toddler and baby in! But its local and I dont need much.

CantSleepWontSleep · 17/05/2009 10:36

no sore head jenwa. I won't drink that much whilst bf.
No to sains too, as mum works at tesco in st peters.
guests now left, ds asleep, and bathtime for me and dd before we go to in-laws.
