Ahh, I see, I thought it was odd that everything else was ok! It is sooo slow, must be us all chatting!!!

pepper haha! Yes I had to do housework too Hoovered up again and faffed abit. Not interested in housework today though I am taking my mums dog back tonight so tomorrow I can have a good old clean when hes gone and when DH can look after kids. My sis is back tomorrow so will keep it clean and tidy for her and also as I like it like that , making fajhitas tomorrow..yummy and will be on the wine too. Have the funeral on the mon so did mention to my sis that hopefully the fajhitas dont make us trumpy

I am another euro hater! My inlaws are going out with friends to watch it and doing euro meals. Each doing a different dish! I will be britains got talenting!

loulou re nursery, how awful. At least when you witness something you at least feel you know what is going on rather than finding out and thinking all was fine!
Yes thank you re DD, I hope she is ok this afty. She actually wanted to come home with me when I dropped her at MILS that NEVER happens. I think she never realised her cousins would be there and that she would not have grandma to herself anyway she is fine and she will be happy there. She likes her one cousin (who is 6 days younger) but her other one who is 16 months younger annoys her sometimes, I think its because she is bossy and he wants to be doing what they are doing and it interferes with her!!! God, cant wait for her to be 16!!!!!!!

Currenlty ordering more photos through tescos as need more for album and to send to people.

Oh and me and DH want holiday with kids this year and wondered re those holiday parks..pontins? etc. Can you recommend any, good value for money, not too expenisve etc. We live in the midlands so also dont really want too far to travel either. Although cornwall etc is lovely! Just some ideas really.

Rhian82 · 16/05/2009 16:25

I wouldn't have thought being veggie (Mum or baby) was a problem as long as you're careful with your diet. There are plenty of veggie things with Vit B and iron in apart from meat. My HV actually said that veggie parents tend to be better with diet as they're more aware of what they need to get and what to get it from!

Marthasmama · 16/05/2009 18:22

Loulou - I am going to invest in some baby vitamins as you're right, it won't hurt. It just seems odd to me, I wasn't objecting!

Just a quicky again as M is covered in couscous after I gave it to her CSWS style (i.e. on the tray of her high chair).

DH found this when he was looking up the origins of quinoa. We're thinking about ordering some.....mmmmm honey granola!

MM - i want the honey granola with berries - tylically that is the most expensive. How much is museli usually?? I did my favourite and it was over £6 i think that might be a bit expensive.....

Jenwa - yum to fajhitas - we're having chilli tomorrow. I think its Joe favourite but to be honest, all food is his favourite. He tried our cassoulet with cannelini beans which he ate with his fingers fists, very messy...

Honeymoonmummy · 16/05/2009 19:27

Hi all, I know I've been bad and neglectful recently but I have a quick question - I've just posted a new photo on MN, it's at the top, Poppy has a rash, any ideas? She seemed to get it after swimmiung the other day, just in the area where she had her swim nappy on, it was a new one so i thought either that had irritated her or the chlorine had - I just dunked her under the pool shower with her swim nappy still on and didnt do bath until the evening (normally do bath straight after). But it has now spread to her arms and back a little bit, it's mainly on her upper legs and crotch/ bum and lower tummy. It disappears under a glass.. Any ideas? I'm about to check temp. She seems fine in herself and is not itching it. It just seemed to get worse in the bath (we are just using oilatum as prescribed by HV for dry skin on legs) Am supposed to be going out tonight!!!!!

Marthasmama · 16/05/2009 19:34

Hmm - I can't really see it very clearly as the pictures on here always come up really small. DS always comes up in a rash after swimming unless we bathe him straight away. He has very sensitive skin (like his mummy) so I figure with him it's just a reaction to the chlorine. Does P seem ill at all? If not I would expect it is just a reaction to the chlorine. It is pretty harsh stuff. The reason it could have got worse in the bath is the heat. From personal experience, sometimes skin irritations can get worse in heat then calm down when the irritant is removed. How is she now?

Marthasmama · 16/05/2009 19:42

Loulou - I have no idea how much it is normally but I know that granola is pricey as I love it! It is worth me getting some as I can never find a cereal with all the bits I love in it so, to get what I wanted I would have had to buy granola, dried strawberries, dried cranberries and almonds to make a cereal I would like which would add up to more than £6.

You ladies have inspired me. I really need to eat more veggies. I used to be sooooo good and would have at least 10 fruit/veg a day, but I've been barely getting 4 recently and it is rubbish. DH often goes days without getting any! We have had a good discussion about it and about how embarrassingly easy it is to eat 5 or more fruit/veg a day. We are going to sort or lives out. We're not getting enough sleep so we really need to eat healthily to make up for that. So thank you all.

pepperrabbit · 16/05/2009 19:47

HMM, I've had a look and it seems quite faint from the photo, the skins not broken or anything - as MM says, could easily be the chlorine, then exacerbated by the warm bath. I would say if she's fine in herself then you are ok to go out IMHO .
Have a nice time!

Marthasmama · 16/05/2009 19:54

What do you all think of this dress? It's called the Martha dress and I was wondering getting it for M as her birthday day dress. I know, I know, it's 4.5 months away but I love it and the smallest size is 12 months. There is a Poppy dress too. In fact the website is called Poppy. Sooooo pretty.

I think it's lovely!! Though you have to bear in mind that after 2 boys all girly things are lovely here!
Did I tell you we went to a Pirates and Princesses party a few weeks ago, and I took them all as Pirates
Didn't even cross my mind that DD could go as a Princess
She was a wicked pirate tho in her stripey red trousers and scary pirate hat!

jenwa · 16/05/2009 20:14

Ahh mm how sweet. No Phoebe dress though there were some other nice martha ones too.

hm seems like rash prob is from swimming. Hope she is ok.

Agree with mm re fruit and veg, I am shocking , crisps...mmmmm , need to get my greens in me. there is one portion of your daily intake in baked beans so I know I do get some !!!

pepperrabbit · 16/05/2009 20:15

HMM - when I just read your facebook status I thought it said "are aiming for their second baby..." nearly spat my wine out at such a forthright confession! then realised it said "are aiming for their second post baby (night out)"

Marthasmama · 16/05/2009 20:17

I only have one boy Pepper but I agree, it is soooooo nice buying girls clothes. I didn't think it would be as much fun as it has been, having a girl. DS had a joint 3rd party with a friend from nursery and that was a Pirates and Princesses party. DS's lovely girlfriend went as a pirate and looked so much cuter than all the princesses. (BTW - Ds and his girlfriend have already decided they are getting married, having two babies a boy & a girl, DS will be a doctor as will Rose. They will live in a town house in London and drive a red sports car before they have babies but a big black one afterwards - this plan has been in place for 2 years!)

jenwa · 16/05/2009 20:18

pepper I meant to say that too re HMM I thought that too although you never know what this night out may lead to
lol at you spitting your wine out though! I luckily have my glass near me so have not spat it out!! ALso had a huge dinner at the pub with DH and DC but am wanting nibbles now, only got crap tescos crisps though need cheesy balls and salt and vinegar sticks.....

Marthasmama · 16/05/2009 20:18

Jenwa- That's how I've managed to sell it to DH, he is a fan of the baked beans!!

jenwa · 16/05/2009 20:20

Yeh so is my DH, it a trumpy household

Marthasmama · 16/05/2009 20:22

Here you go Jenwa - Phoebe dress....

CantSleepWontSleep · 16/05/2009 20:26

pepperrabbit · 16/05/2009 20:34

MM - that is such a cool plan by DS! I hope you are practising being the perfect mumsnet approved MIL!

star6 · 16/05/2009 20:37

Hi everyone, had lunch with friends today (who don't have a child). They were married 2 weeks after Q was born... we used to be great friends, but now had so little to talk about and I think they think we're mad to have a baby!! Q was SO GOOD, sat in the restaurant high chair for over an hour and played with various toys/utensils nicely, smiled at people, I'm so proud of him. We fed him, too... but I could tell they were getting a bit annoyed when we'd have to share attention with Q... I can't explain it, just strange. We need more friends with kids!

OH! NEW TRICK! Last night, when Q would wake, I put my hand on his bum lightly and wiggled him back and forth a bit (he's on his tummy) so he felt like he was in the pushchair almost but it worked! 30 seconds of that each time he woke instead of feeding him and he was in his cot until 5.30am! He would have stayed at 5.30, too, but I wanted a cuddle, so I took him out and let him feed and cuddle with me . I'm so excited by this new discovery. Anyone having difficulty keeping babies in the cot, try it - it can't hurt!

star6 · 16/05/2009 20:41

loulou at the nursery price rise. That's incredible.

HMM - I can't see the rash clearly either... but it looks like a reaction to perhaps the pool water or a detergent or something.

MM what a cute plan of your DS and his gf

CSWS - beautiful shed

Ronshar - all worked up about vitamins now... DH doesn't like the sound of it (won't give calpol..etc unless absolutely necessary - i.e. to bring down a fever...etc.).

MM - lovely dresses I wonder what Q would look like in a dress . He's got so many lovely chubb rolls

star6 · 16/05/2009 20:54

pepper - cute dd as a pirate I'll bet she was cuter than the princesses

aubergenie · 16/05/2009 21:03

MM- Those dresses are lovely! Why are boys clothes so BORING? Although I did show DP that beefcake one and I think we're going to get it.

That granola looks delicious, but I usually make my own honey/oat/almond thing. It's not healthy, but it is yum.

Some friends gave us their old cot today, so we're planning on setting it up tomorrow and seeing how it goes. Not sure how I'm going to manage without being able to bounce him up and down in the Amby. He's not too old for a cot mobile is he?
