No, please get up you're embarrassing me. PMSL, eh? Can I put that after my name? Helsy, BSc, MA, PMSL.

Off sick (again) today - have a Drs appointment at 10.30. I think I've got a chest infection but the tummy bug has gone. DH took dds to school and nursery. It's nice just to not have to do all that in the morning.

Yes to boob squeezing and milk - stopped bf in January. I sometimes leak a bit at night too.

Libb, sorry it's horrible at the moment. DS sounds like a real star!

Judd, you confused me with the Billy Bookcase analogy as I always think of the white ones.
I think our gruffalo has a throaty voice with a South Yorkshire accent. I've checked the book and I'm a lighter colour than that but with an abundance of freckles, so difficult to describe really (shudders as memories of "been sunbathing under a teabag, you freckly cow?" come back to haunt from schooldays).
We know a 2 yr old girl who sounds exactly like the character Matt Lucas plays in Little Britain who's in a wheelchair.

Tenby is in Pembrokeshire, SW Wales. It has two lovely big clean and (mainly) dog free beaches in the middle of town and restaurants that cater for kids and not just with chicken nuggets and chips. And it's not dead tacky. Judd can tell you more.

Ponka we didn't use the hotel creche as we didn't manage to find anyone who could tell us sensibly about it. (I think the best we got was "well they're all qualified up there and there's toys and stuff but it's shut now"). In fact the hotel was so poor I've written a letter of complaint and await a reply.

I've been thinking about going to the Nottingham meet up as I'm only an hour away and MIL lives there, and we like the castle.
Off to my bed of pain now.

Wow. I thought it was safe to miss posting for the last couple of days we were so quiet! and come back to 6 billion new posts!

Libb- honey huge hugs, please do give me a tinkle tonight for a chat xxx

I'll write a little more later but just to let you all know the Great May Babies Meet will be 13TH AUGUST 2005.

I have sent an email to everyone i have, but i've already had 3 adresses returned to me, so loads of you won't actauly get it!

Anyway i'll be back later, lots of love xxx

I have to tell you guys this, it's so funny (well, it is to me, but maybe it's only funny when it's your own child, lol).

You know we've been doing the sing and sign video and a while back I thought he knew the "change your nappy" sign (only he never really repeated it and now I think it was just lucky coincidence)? Well, he's started signing for definite now... only EVERY animal he sees he puts his hands over his head (in the "cow" sign position) does the "duck" sign and says BAA BAA BAA! I think he could be a little confused, lol.

Aww Georgina, a whole farmyard in one boy's body!

Helsy, you are sailing quite lose to another PMSL with your letters after your name... definite solitary snort (SS) from me.

Our Gruffalo is cockney, or whatever comes closest to Dirty Den type voice if you live in Edinburgh and try and manage one. though I do not have a very strong Scottish accent anyway. All the 'carnivorous' animals come out quite posh sounding. Don't know what thaat says about my subconscious perception of British class.

love JD books too... have met her btw; she is a bit of a bam! and the illustrator... who is lush.

Libb, come and stay with us for the summer.

GeorginaA · 05/07/2005 10:50

spots - was it you doing sing and sign classes - any success?

It was Susi as I remember. Though DD has proved how well they would work for her by attempting the Incey Wincey Spider hands (she puts her forefingers together) whenever spiders or insects that might be spiders make an appearance. also does it for the stems of tomatoes!

helsy · 05/07/2005 11:36

Ah ambassador, with these PMSLs you are spoiling me...

Dd2 loves incy wincy, too, puts her little stubby fingers together for it - and lunges backwards when we start to sing Row the Boat. She heard some classical music on the radio yesterday and pointed at the piano - it was piano music playing!

Spots, what is a bam? Is it a barmpot?
I think maybe the gruffalo is more of a cockney - Mike Read, maybe? We've got a book with a duck in it and the duck's mother sounds like Hilda Baker.

Do you all read to your babies? We've not really started bedtime stories properly.

Georgina - dd2 thinks all animals go "moo" or "oo oo oo".

Noone would know me if I went to Nottingham, either, but if you go Egypt that will be me and Ponka you'll know, I'll know you and Ponka, and so on.
Dr has given me antibiotics and an inhaler.

egypt · 05/07/2005 12:27

hmmmm, maybe i will go although i am def wanting to go to cambridge - with or without dh

egypt · 05/07/2005 12:45

has anyone seen this? or been to any of the classes? am q interested and especially in the 'teaching' side of it too!

rhythmtime

helsy · 05/07/2005 15:07

I just can't get to Cambridge but Nottingham would be much easier.

Dd1 went to Rhythmtime at nursery for three years. A teacher came in - -presumably she had the local franchise - and we paid extra. I think it was about 2 quid a week. Dd1 loved it - they listened to classical music, recognised instruments, learnt about orchestras and low and high notes as well as doing the basic music and movement stuff, and every term she had a certificate to show how she had progressed.

Get in touch with them, what have you got to lose!

My Boden sale order has just arrived - I'd ordered both dds identical skirts . I always swore I wouldn't do that but they were soooooooo cute - but they only had the baby size by the time the order was despatched, apparently.

helsy · 06/07/2005 15:33

Anybody there? I'm still off sick and was hoping I'd have someone to play with...(drums fingers impatiently)

...I know, I'll start a new May thread and seee if anyone follows - this one's getting a bit big! Byeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
