Cat, yes yes yes! I love being the bridesmaid , far less pressure and you have given me time to lose weight . . . you are a true friend indeed xxx

We still don't have words or attempts at balance unless it involves kneeling . . . the strange boy.

Ex is certainly back - we have stuck to the 3 arguments so far and he managed to get my tent stolen . . . what can I say? it will be going on the final invoice along with everything else . . .

cat82 · 28/06/2005 22:03

Libb my darling don't forget spare room is always available. As is offer to come get you.

And you don't need to loose weight, you're gorgeous as you are. xxx

Libb · 30/06/2005 22:01

This must be a first, over 24 hours without chat!

We have some serious back teeth teething going on, not much walking, what seems like torrents of babbling verbal abuse (I know he knows the words, where are they?!) and a smattering of clingy cuddles!

Hope you are all well and happy xxx

Libb · 30/06/2005 22:01

Excuse me , "my friend" wants to watch BB

Ponka · 01/07/2005 12:04

He - He, Libb. I have a "friend" who is addicted to BB, too. Her house is a tip at the moment because she watches it too much

spots · 02/07/2005 10:52

g'morning!

DH is marching with a banner today in Edinburgh; it says 'Clean Fuel Is Possible' and we made it on thre sitting room floor last night. DD is asleep and I am feeling un saturday ish.
Stayed at my mum's on Thursday night and DD was so funny. She really LOVES my mum and gets all cocky. Kept on and on rising into standing position (from squatting) and grinning madly, saying 'Wow!' at herself and then lowering herself and saying 'Down!' and rolling on the floor. To mad applause from mum and me, so no wonder she kept doing it. Mum and I were agreed on how great it is to see her understanding the world so well. She knows what to expect, when you turn the page of a book, when you go to the station to catch a train, when you get her coat or put her in her high chair. And it makes her feel very confident.

so that was all very nice.

Had a bit of a row with dh last night about - what else -? housework, because when I got back he had done no dishes, no nappy wash, not even got in the washing from the line. He said I could hardly complain since I spent so much time on Mumsnet!

Which is not true of course.

Hope everyone is well. Anyone else's household involved in G8 stuff?

Libb · 02/07/2005 18:38

I wish I were Spots, I feel a bit bad that I have let it go over my head this time.

Are you feeling better? I really hope so xxxx

GeorginaA · 03/07/2005 14:46

Nope spots - too focussed on anti-ID card stuff at the moment.

Gosh it's all gone a bit quiet - anyone would think we had children to look after....

I had a tummy bug all weekend and now DH has it, but obviously much worse . So far the girlies haven't got it but I suppose it's just a matter of time. Dd2 is desperate for a day off school and keeps clutching her stomach and saying "ooh mummy, I think I've got what daddy's got". What, a propensity to overact and feign illness to avoid work? I hope not. I know, harsh woman. Off to watch the DVD of series 5 of the West Wing now - alone.

Dd2 wasn't wanting her food tonight so I was about to give up when she scooped a huge lump of mashed potato into her mouth and proceeded to eat the whole meal like that - with her fists! I was so glad she was eating I left her to it.
She's still not great at chewing but she does only have six teeth. Gave her broccoli as finger food tonight and she didn't like it at all.

Judd · 04/07/2005 21:10

Helsy - Please can I award you the much-coveted PMSL for your heartless analysis of your husband's condition
Have been on holiday in Tenby for the week and we had a lovely time. DS was fab and seemed to change loads - we took away a baby and brought back a boy! DD's imaginative play took a worrying turn for the better......"What are you doing darling?"...."I'm kicking a pretend baby Ollie". DS also managed to sport a heat rash and MMR related rash for most of the week whilst still being most chirpy and then cracked out a molar as well. Blimey, it's all go.
Spots - how well stacked is your area for toddler activities? Could you envisage doing messy play sessions for kiddies - would that tie in with your natural talent and need for cash? Have a look at the Messy Monsters website to see the sort of thing I mean.
Can we have a virtual suntan competition? My arms are currently the colour of an Ikea Billy Bookcase. Anyone beat that?

egypt · 04/07/2005 21:14

It has all gone a bit quiet, agreed. We're only just back online after being without broadband for 2 weeks. nightmare of the worst kind i am sure you will agree.

Congratulations CAT!!! you must be so pleased.

Our babes are growing so fast. DD is now walking just about fine - around the lounge only mind! she is a little monkey and quite determined and stroppy when she can't get her own way. a lot like her dad. loves a new game dh taught her - let's throw all the toys out of the bath and soak the bathroom. have i told you that b4?

anyway, just popping in to say hi, and off to ebay now xxxxx

egypt · 04/07/2005 21:15

oops, hello judd

Ponka · 04/07/2005 21:20

Yes it really is quiet. What's going on? Is everyone off on holiday? Hello Helsy, did you decide what to do about the hotel creche yet?

Spots, Libb. How are you feeling? Any brighter?

Hellooooo, Bozza? It seems like ages. Did you decide to stay in France? I'd be tempted.

Not much news here (so sorry if I bore you all). DS has started rejecting baby food jars completely. We've sort of been doing a mixture of those and home foods. Now it's got to be home cooked foods all the way. Call me sad but I've been making a book of ideas for food for him. I always sit down to make a shopping list and my mind just goes blank. DH does a lot of our cooking. He can cook really well and I'm the sort of person who burns soup so for his sanity, he cooks a fair bit. I've been really trying recently though, for DS' sake and for DH's. I managed carrot and courgette fritters today. They weren't burnt!

I'm still really worried about DS' liquid intake. He just won't drink much out of a sippy/doidy cup. Linnet, are you getting on any better with that? Do you think I'm stupid to worry?

Hello to everyone else.

Ponka · 04/07/2005 21:34

Oooh. 3 whole posts in the time I wrote the message.

Hello Judd. Sounds like you recommend Tenby then. Where is it? Is it by the sea? Tsk - and I have A level Geography too

"My arms are currently the colour of an Ikea Billy Bookcase. Anyone beat that?" - Nope. I'm not sure what colour one of those is but mine are kind of transparent. I always have and always will be an English rose. Are they Pine?

Hello Egypt. Toddlerdom is really starting, eh. DS has started having little tantrums when I try and take things off him/ leave somewhere where he is having fun, like a park etc. We've just found a really good technique for that this week. We just say Bye - Bye park or whatever and he magically turns back all cute again and goes "Ba - Bye"... well, some of the time, anyway. Do you ever come to Nottingham? I know you are close. There is a mumsnet meet up on the 11th August (I think).

Judd · 04/07/2005 21:40

Ooops, forgot about the colour of the Billy. I think it is pine actually, or could it be beech? Oh boo, Billy Bookcase not the great leveller I thought it would be!
Ponka - I have a list of children's meals on the fridge door and I also have a weekly box chart to fill in with what they actually eat. Anal, moi?

spots · 04/07/2005 21:49

Oh good a few more voices. hello y'all! Judd, glad you had fun...report on Tenby please? I scoured the room looking for a colour match for my forearm and the nearest I got was the palm of the Gruffalo's hand as it appears on the third page of the story. For those gruffalo lovers among you. For non Gruffalo lovers, not suntanned at all. I defer to your Billy, Judd.

Helsy, sorry about your tummy adventures.

DD is still making me laugh. Will I always laugh at the poor girl? But she laughs back. We are living under a tyranny of animal noises... whenever she sees something with a tiger, lion, elephant, cow etc.. on it she has to roar, moo, whatever... it's like a noisy checklist. unfortunately so many baby things have animals on, including her toothpaste which sends her into a roaring frenzy as it has a tiger, a lion, a hippo AND an elephant on it. Try brushing teeth through that.

i am fine thanks for asking, got a SAHM head on that's all!

spots · 04/07/2005 21:51

Ponka - YOU HAVE TRANSPARENT ARMS?

Ponka · 04/07/2005 21:58

They are so white that you can see quite a few veins through, if you look hard enough.

Judd · 04/07/2005 21:58

Oooh, just squeeze this in before Big Brother. We love the Gruffalo and all JD's other books. How do you do his voice? I lapse into some sort of Doodles/Tommy Cooper hybrid halfway through!
Was wondering the other day, does anyone still cram their child into a Bumbo?
Oh yes, apparently DH has wee the colour of a post it note.

Judd · 04/07/2005 22:00

I think helsy will be back on soon, weeping in a Gwyneth Paltrow-like fashion as she accepts her PMSL

Libb · 04/07/2005 22:00

We have a noise that sounds like he has just enjoyed the most satisfying cold pint of lager in a heatwave "aaahhh!"

Other than that, nowt. He has gone on strike and we don't even get dadas now, but we do get H HA HA in a very false sarcastic way (I blame myself!)

Still no walking or pointing, just lots of playing with things that not his and chasing the cat - not worrying "just" yet. A bit longer and I might though . . . even though I know I shouldn't.

Nowt much happening here, have another appointment next week with the Council, Ex seems to fancy someone else and she might feel the same way and I am run down like an airport runway. My bestest friend left work last week leaving me with all the horrible ones.

On the other hand, DS and his false laugh cracks me up and he my honey. One day I will move and be rid, and thank goodness for you guys - you crack me up xxxx

ps: DS's tan puts me to shame - I am lily white

Libb · 04/07/2005 22:04

I have also lost the ability to recognise small words - I don't need them!

kbaby · 04/07/2005 22:36

Hi,
How comes everyone elses messages sound so witty and mine are boring. I cant write funniliy.

Not much happened a quiet week actually. Took DD to a soft play party where she loved the bouncy castle.

For those who have finished bf, if you squeeze your boobs do you still get milk? I have a curious obsession to try it occasionally and find it strange that its over 6 months and theres still milk in them!

egypt · 05/07/2005 08:51

ME TOO KBABY! (on the milk thing AND the can't make my messages funny thing).

As for the tans, hmm, about the nearest to a medium shade of cork from our countless bottles of wine. (does anyone else keep these or is it just my dh?) maybe i'll make a cool and trendy cork board for the bare kitchen wall to put dd's scrawlings up one day. .......or maybe not....

have hayfever from HELL - anyone else? perhaps i should search some threads, there must be some miracle cure by now for gooooooooords sake. think i might go down the docs and just demand to see someone, or at least get someone to scrawl me out a prescription for some super strength antihistamines.

libb, ((((((((((((((((((((big hugs))))))))))))))))))) to you. there's nothing worse than trying your hardest to get over a relationship when they go and stick that in for good measure. you poor thing. xxxx

where's the meetup ponka?

Ponka · 05/07/2005 08:59

here Egypt
