Fuck, he's had another one here

madmouse · 29/04/2009 07:03

JKS thanks for thinking about me hun but that is the last thing you should be thinking about right now. I am fine and if I am not there are people here in RL to catch me.

Without fever it is probably not FB, but there is room for a few hundred innocent explanations. Was saying to Simpson last night if there is one fit they tend to wait and see if there is another one before doing much.

Can you describe what happens? What does it look like.

Thinking of you loads, DONT HOLD BACK ON POSTING BECAUSE OF ME PLEASE PLEASE.

JustKeepSwimming · 29/04/2009 07:23

oh madmouse, thanks!

don't be nice to me - makes me cry - well anything does atm.

i didn't really see yesterday's (bad mother as had left him in buggy outside pre-sch while i went in to fetch T, have done that loads of times but never again)
by the time i saw him yesterday e was floppy and unresponsive.

today he was on my lap signing food one minute then was 'wriggling' a bit i looked at him, thought he might be fitting, called his name, no response - laid him down acroaa my lap so sort of recovery position but still holding him and he was jerking/twitching, eyes rolling, the whole thing from the leaflet.
not majorly like i've seen on films but enough so i could feel/see it.

not nice.
am only able to speak/think because of T and have to be normal for him - though i did go and sob upstairs for a bit.

want this to be over and something i can post about on MN to reassure others not be going through it.

madmouse · 29/04/2009 08:48

Oh JKS wish I could come over, give you a hug, take over with T and send you to hospital.

Hoping and praying it turns out to be nothing. Make sure they do an eeg before sending him home again now he has had two fits.

Does sound like a classic fit but they can have different causes.

Thinking of you.

OP posts:
JustKeepSwimming · 29/04/2009 08:55

thanks!

he had an ecg yesterday or maybe it was an eeg, can't remember (takes me back to when my mum was ill and she was having lots of tests).

madmouse · 29/04/2009 09:05

eeg is brain

ecg is heart

should have had some patches on his head with wires

xx

simpson · 29/04/2009 09:05

JKS - Have just posted on your other thread too.

(((hugs))) from me.

Hope you get results from tests soon.

Maybe he is not over ear infection properly and still has virus or something...

I have to go as am at hospital with M for dietician but will check in later....

LaTrucha · 29/04/2009 11:31

JKS - Just reading this. So sorry. You must be so worried. Do you have people you can call on to help? If I can do anything at all, let me know. I'm in Essex now.

mixedmamameansbusiness · 29/04/2009 14:56

JKS - saw Fb and came on to see what had happened. Thinking of you and if you need anything please just let me know.

madmouse · 29/04/2009 17:25

JKS can't wait to hear more news. Guess you are still in hospital.

Just wanted to say had a little chat with Lucky!! She appered on FB earlier this afternoon, she was online to email her folks. They are having fun, Aaliyah is a bit burned!!

OP posts:
JustKeepSwimming · 29/04/2009 18:12

Lucky - glad you are having fun - get that suncream on her!

Thanks everyone, we are home. no more fits, no more news tbh. a long time waiting about in hosp for the doc to come and say he wants a referral for an eeg (it was an ecg yesterday - i wasn't there that's why i wasn't sure). no rush though.

they just aren't convinced that the ear infection/tonsilitis is still around enough to have caused it but it is possible

so there might be no more fits and this is all a story for the future.

or...he may have epilepsy and he will continue to have fits. if they are short we are to do nothing (other than keep him safe and in recovery position) and let him sleep after if he wants.
if they last 5mins+ then we have to call 999 and go back in.
so planning on keeping a diary and see when they occur (being realistic that they will happen again, was in denial last night i think) and if there are any triggers.

really don't want him on epilepsy drugs as they have such awful side-effects.

anyway, pil have come up to help. so best not stay on here too long.

just paranoid every time H pulls a face or anything tbh.
looking into some kind of special alarm/sensor for his cot, any tips? thinking there might be a specialised epilepsy one?

madmouse · 29/04/2009 19:52

Hi JKS - so sorry you are non the wiser and that you are now at home watching H like a hawk - been there sigh- pretty nerve wrecking.

I hear what you say about an alarm and we would have been lost and sleepless without Nathan's apnoea alarm and if that would work in H's case I would drive it down to London tomorrow. But you need the opposite - an alarm that senses abnormal movements not lack of movement. They exist, we have discussed them on the special needs board. They are not foolproof and more suitable for adults as tots just trash about in their sleep so much you would get non stop false alarms (and they are killers!!).

You could try these guys.

Lilyloo · 29/04/2009 20:29

JKS just seen this how terrifying and even more worrying for you now.
Hope it is just an unexplained infection poor H!

Yay to Sabela for walking and Molly for talking!!

madmouse · 29/04/2009 20:33

Oh, and JKS whatever you do, do not google!!!

Any questions aout epilepsy post them on special needs, yes a big leap i know but you will get better answers and less unnecessary scares.

OP posts:
JustKeepSwimming · 29/04/2009 20:40

Thanks Lily

Thanks so much madmosue - you know (sadly) exactly where we are right now. Sn feels like a HUGE leap, maybe too big for me just yet.
(sorry if i was ever flippant before )

But i am determined NOT to google, so you are right there!
Will have a look at the link in a bit. would love one right now that would reassure me tonight - sure i still won't sleep we have put him in normal cot in the boys room as i have pointed out to DH that nobody slept well last night (other than ds1!) and we won hear if he has a fit anyway as he makes no noise, then falls asleep
so we need our sleep to get through the day atm. i want to know if he's having a fit for records purposes as well as my own peace of mind.

sorry everyone have taken over thread with this
hoping days will go by with nothing happening and life returns to boring normal.
how long till we relax though....?

LaTrucha · 29/04/2009 20:41

JKS - second that

DO NOT GOOGLE!

madmouse · 29/04/2009 20:50

JKS you have never been flippant and I do not think there is any need to consider H as special needs at the moment. Just that if you keep having those pesky questions about epilepsy sn board is the best place to ask them.

OP posts:
simpson · 29/04/2009 21:07

JKS - do not apologise for taking over thread!!

That is what we are hear for!!!

Have they said how long you might have to wait for EEG?

JustKeepSwimming · 29/04/2009 21:56

LaT - i won't, well not yet anyway.

Madm - glad i wasn't ever, was worried in case i had been!
will have a read after searching maybe tomorrow.

Simps - no clue on timings. they weren't in a rush but we would obv prefer sooner.
wanted it to be today but hey.

well have had some red wine and a chinese. and off to bed in a mo, so have been successfully distracted for this evening

please God (and no i dont mind a prayer here or there MM! will take any help going tbh) nothing else happens.....

simpson · 29/04/2009 22:28

JKS - hoping you have a peaceful night too

JustKeepSwimming · 30/04/2009 08:42

Thanks, all peaceful here now.

Just waiting.....

anyway, T off to pre-school in a bit, H gone for is nap. way behind on housework/laundry and DH behind at work, hey ho.
maybe things will all calm down now - don't know how long PIL are here for but going to make the most of it!

SO, how is everybody else doing???

madmouse · 30/04/2009 08:42

No post from JKS - tentatively taking that as a good sign

forgot to say yesterday - we were waiting for Nathan's third top tooth to come through as it was visible for ages. It has now, and when I had a feel of it last night my finger caught something sharp - he is very quietly pushed out a bottom one too, so now we have six, with no 7 not far off!!

OP posts:
madmouse · 30/04/2009 08:44

x-post JKS, glad all is peaceful!

OP posts:
simpson · 30/04/2009 10:48

JKS - glad things seem ok ATM long may it last!!

Well the day of reckoning has arrived MIL arrives today

JustKeepSwimming · 30/04/2009 10:58

Oh with you Simpson! hope it goes ok.
how long is she staying? or to rephrase, when does she go?!

Madmouse - yey for Nathan's new teeth

All still ok here, H napping, prob exhausted after last few days.

MIL cooking, FIL watching war tv ( - as he does).
DH gone to work but back later.

trying to get on top of 'stuff', birthday cards, laundry, etc.

raining though, boo hiss, so no hanging out to dry. though MIL has promised T they'll do some gardening later.

everyone ok today?
